    the second the robot becomes cheaper to operate than the human worker, the factory fires the worker and buys the robot. ive seen it happen at factories in china in my industry where almost all the welding is automated now.

    Manufacturing might become more localised around the world and level the economic playing field.
    A local robotic industrial centres would be more viable in comparison to shipping product from China.
    A nation could become more self sufficient , less vulnerable to economic coercion, and create competition based on quality rather than exploiting cheap labour.

    And robots don't complain and go on strikes. That robot replacing waitresses though is just plain sick.

      Bruce Wayne nope, India has that title. The US is in far more debt and the dollar has been bleeding for years.
      That's called smart business. Why build something that lasts if you can keep bringing the same customer back?

    • @shanghainoon7829
      @shanghainoon7829 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Bruce Wayne the trouble with your narrative is that China is still an emerging economy and the USA has peaked. What this means is that our GDP will continue to get bigger, whereas yours will stay the same more or less.
      We can afford debt. But you can't answer that question with as much certainty.
      I concur with your views on the environment though. It might be good for business, but it's definitely not sustainable.

      You're being too paranoid. Those items made by robots will become so cheap that even the "poor" could afford them. Cellphones are pretty much made by machines and assembled by humans, and poor people now have at least 2 of them each.

    Stop scaring people...That is why I program and do Preventive Maintenance on these systems/robots, it opens doors to more skilled people, and makes the working environment less repetitive or stressful, people move from on job to another, like when ford came :)By the way, I still like the way native people lived 500 years ago, but in the cold places or countries the native people liked the idea of comfort and warm houses, logistics still will be a growing market ;)

      "...That is why I program and do Preventive Maintenance on these systems/robots, it opens doors to more skilled people"
      Not everyone is capable of doing programming jobs.
      "people move from on job to another, like when ford came"
      What is your average taxi driver or trucker going to do after losing his job?
      "logistics still will be a growing market ;)"
      Like what? Truckers work in logistics and those jobs are the first to disappear. Same with warehouse jobs.
