Jason doesn't blame Batman he is just infuriated by the whole situation, many people blame Batman that Jokker and other criminals get out all the time, but what has Batman to do with that he offers them on a silver plater to authorities who fail over and over again ? Well Jason is the solution to that failiure of society, and I bet meny people in Gotham would be perfectly willing to look other way around if it meant solving the crime problem. On the other hand authorites could change laws and deal more harshly with criminals but choose not to. But it is a fictional setting in real life Jokker would be dealt with by the police especially in the US. But he is needed for the story, and others as well. One of mine favorite stories is the Court of Owls, they do what Batman won't and they are the bad guys because of it. And Batwomans father also crosses that line and becomes exactly like League of Assassins and Ra's al Ghul.
Isn't the looking the other way just corruption? Letting aan break the law because they personally like the results? What happens when red hood starts killing people who disagree with his brand of justice?
Red Hood is the necessary evil Batman could never do. That's why I like to think Batman walked away because he is letting Jason give Joker the time to kill him himself. Bruce knows he's wrong, and the only way he compensates while sticking to his morals is to leave it to the people to have their justice.
I feel the Arkham Jason had it worse. He didn't die, instead Joker kept him alive so his suffering could continue. The voice lines during Jason's final showdown makes it clear how broken he really was. "It was all about you, what Joker did. He ruined me to spite you!" "Come out. Face me! You owe me that!" "I can still here him laughing, he's still in my head!" "Do you know the things he did? The games he used to play?! This is mercy compared to what he put me through!" "Do you know where he kept me? I was soooo close." "Did you even look for me? Or did you just look for a replacement?" "I was just a kid, you turned me into a soldier, sent me to war!" Then there is his lines when you reach him. Each time you did, Jason sounds closer to breaking down. "There's no helping me!" "Don't pretend to understand!" "Don't call me that! That's not who I am!" "Stop! Stop talking to me!"
The ending of this video brought me to tears for some reason. I really enjoy these videos on masculinity you make, and serve as inspiration for my own journey as a man. Thank you for doing God's work.
so true. the reason i find red hood so compelling--and my ACTUAL favorite character in the batfam--isn't his rage or his violent approach to justice, but his redemption, his healing journey. a character like jason provides a different kind of hope in contrast to nightwing's, which is the hope that one day you can overcome your past mistakes and be a good person, no matter how badly you messed up in the past.
I too also like this take on Red Hood, especially where he learns that though Batman's morals are flawed, that doesn't mean there isn't a place for them in the world. Case in point, Plastic man. (Committed countless crimes and took quite a while to become good) Red Hood realising that he can be the solution/fix to Batman's flawed ideology and morals and becoming an anti hero that does what the flawed justice system can't do is great contrast to Batman and gives Jason a more wholesome end. (Let the man get a fucking rest from angst, ffs)
I don’t really like it when people present Jason talking back to batman (when he was robin) as a precursor to his more ruthless attitude as the Red Hood. because all the robins talked back to batman, especially Dick and Damian. if you just took their runs as robins and analysed those, I don’t think any of them would stand out as more rebellious or violent as the others, it seems to be the circumstances that end their runs as robin that sets them each apart
Just discovered your channel. I find your vids are interesting. After watching your Nightwing video, I am starting to think about this stuff a lot more. I feel like because people view masculinity as the default, we often don’t think about it as much in media. Great vids, keep up the good work!
I would say Damian is more representative of Batman's ruthlessness than Jason. Jason is more of his rage than anything else; his sheer unbridled passionate hate for criminals. But the cold ruthlessness of Batman & his potential for life-taking aggression will always be embodied in The Son of The Demon himself
Nah not Damian since he loses his ruthlessness. He got character development. Also I don't think the kid with a pet cow is a good representative of Batman's ruthlessness
@@huntertezz His "character development" is head-canon that was mostly written to appease whining fans, it doesn't fit his nature so I just ignore it. His canon development paths will always be Bethlehem/Beyond Rebirth to me until writers come up with something for him that isn't character assassination. "I don't think the kid with a pet cow is a good representative of Batman's ruthlessness" Lol Todd is a traumatized cry-baby who's mad he got beat up that one time, dude's a good kid just rough around the edges. Damian, meanwhile, was quite literally bred in a lab for the express purpose of putting the entire world to the sword. There is no comparison lol
@@Nykandros Lol are you seriously upset Damian grew as a person even though that was the whole point of his character. Its not head canon, and its perfectly fits. Ironically those two are specifically Damian's worst futures that happen when things go wrong for Damian and even in those he abadons his dark nature. And how does Damian's birth purpose mean anything? He is just a chill kid with his pets who moved on from his edgy phase. Jason being a traumatized cry baby is why he is the perfect representation of Batman's ruthlessness'. Damian doesn't let trauma effect him.
@@huntertezz I'm not upset Damian "grew as a character" lol; I just see through phony character development that's done purely as a means of making amends between DC & their whining fans. I do not care if those 2 futures are the worst either, hell idc if they're the best. I care if they fit the character in-universe; if it makes sense in accordance with his nature as a person. Also, no; he never "abandons his dark nature" lol, he stops being a villain but the essence of Damian and his behavior remains. Ruthless, aggressive, cold-hearted & methodical. Yet again, I DO NOT CARE about Damian's birth purpose. What I'm stating is the fact of who they are; Jason is an emotional street-kid with a rugged edge but soft center. Damian is the genetically-engineered son of Bruce & Talia, raised from birth to take life. Ruthlessness is the essence of his character. He may abandon villainous goals, but he has no soft spot; he's almost killed members of the bat-family simply to make a point. The kid brutalized Alfred when he first met him lol. These actions (and plenty more of his) are utterly unthinkable to Todd, or any other Robin for that matter. Jason being a traumatized cry-baby is why he's the perfect representation of Batman's rage, not ruthlessness. He's the mindless noise of an explosion that sizzles out as fast as it blew up; he's not the cold, steady blade cutting through neck after neck after neck. I don't think you know what ruthlessness is. Darkseid, Lex Luthor, Damian's own mother; these are ruthless characters. Jason? Eh lol
@@huntertezz Also, even canonically Damian never "grew out of his edgy phase" lol. One of the main complaints about his character in recent runs is that he keeps learning the same "power of friendship" BS over & over again.. but it never sticks with him and writers keep going back to making him arrogant & boastful lmao. Tomasi's 2020 Teen Titans run being a prime example of this. People want so badly for him to be another play-it-safe boyscout like Nightwing or something. It's only ever characters which show unapologetic confidence, aggression & pride that need "development"; and this development only ever means neutering them and making them more agreeable.

I wish we would've gotten an Under the Red Hood movie in live action. It's a fantastic story, but all Hollywood seems to do is make more dark and brooding lone wolf Batman movies. So boring.
red hood is far superior to batman. Batman’s inaction through the comics and movies has literally led to millions of deaths at the hands of his villains. Not killing makes him worse than his villains, not better. It’s why there’s so many stories of gotham turning on batman for not killing.
I hear this alot, but I think that it is not batmans responsibility to kill his villans, one man should not be judge jury and executioner, batman does not kill because he knows that if he starts killing, he will not stop. It is up to the courts to execute the death penalty, not a vigilante.
I wouldn’t say he’s far superior but he does excel in his own ways Batman doesn’t believe in being an executor but letting fate decide what happens to them on the other hand red hood has his own beliefs because he doesn’t want anyone to go through the same thing he went through in Arkham Knight when he kidnaps Barbara he makes sure she doesn’t get hurt by any of scarecrows men and explains to her why he’s doing what he does. Red hoods my personal favourite for my own personal reasons but I still cant really say he’s better just like characters like all the characters in the current bat family each of them are different
@@matthewbosse1852and how many times has Joker been sent to Arkham despite killing the amount of people he has? The courts don't give him the death penalty despite that getting rid of the him permanently (outside of when the writers bring him back)
@@thenexus8384 doesn't that show issues with the courts, not batman? it should not be the vigilante's responsibility to be the executioner. wouldn't you rather the people on our side be bound by rules that keep them from choosing who deserves death and who doesn't?
@@matthewbosse1852 the point is that he continues to let the courts do basically nothing and be the literal definition of insanity than take the life of a single genocidal lunatic who clearly doesn't have the ability to be rehabilitated (in most continuities anyway) due to the fact that he enjoys killing and sees it as a game with Bruce
Okay, I understand this, but it feels like you didn't read Jason's OG run, almost eveey other versions of his robin has been a miss representation of his character caused by a writer in 1988 who admitted that he hated the idea of robin and wanted everyone else to hate him enough to vote for him to die

i very well might be the only woman viewing this video (and this whole series of videos- i watched the other dc videos after this one, and they were all excellent), but i wanted to put in my two cents. whilst i don’t believe in the whole “jason todd was always a mean kid” rewrite (he loved being robin, he was bright and cheery as robin, and that’s what made his story so heartbreaking), something that’s spoken of a lot here, i love the idea that jason is dick’s foil. whilst dick became a mirror of bruce’s best qualities, jason represents the worst: the need for revenge, a version of batman who was crippled by his circumstances instead of growing above it. i love this series & your personal views and philosophies surrounding the idea of masculinity. jason is insecure in a lot of things in his life, and his masculinity suffers as well. such a wise series. i love seeing masculinity spoken about in more ways than just toxic hypermasculinity because it is so deeply important. i would love to see your thoughts on the innate effeminate nature written into the joker, although it doesn’t quite fit the themes of these videos. i feel like his effeminate features- something that’s emphasized in many of his incarnations- contrasts batman’s masculinity in a way that’s fascinating. keep up the nice work this is fantastic stuff🫶
You should do a video on the Punisher; he has some similarities to Jason Todd. In some cases, Frank Castle might be more damaged than Jason Todd which would make for an interesting video.

Really love this series of Bat family your doing . Subbed due to nightwing and redhood
Thanks keep em coming
Red Hood is the necessary evil Batman could never do. That's why I like to think Batman walked away because he is letting Jason give Joker the time to kill him himself. Bruce knows he's wrong, and the only way he compensates while sticking to his morals is to leave it to the people to have their justice.
I feel the Arkham Jason had it worse. He didn't die, instead Joker kept him alive so his suffering could continue. The voice lines during Jason's final showdown makes it clear how broken he really was.
"It was all about you, what Joker did. He ruined me to spite you!"
"Come out. Face me! You owe me that!"
"I can still here him laughing, he's still in my head!"
"Do you know the things he did? The games he used to play?! This is mercy compared to what he put me through!"
"Do you know where he kept me? I was soooo close."
"Did you even look for me? Or did you just look for a replacement?"
"I was just a kid, you turned me into a soldier, sent me to war!"
Then there is his lines when you reach him. Each time you did, Jason sounds closer to breaking down.
"There's no helping me!"
"Don't pretend to understand!"
"Don't call me that! That's not who I am!"
"Stop!
(Committed countless crimes and took quite a while to become good)
Red Hood realising that he can be the solution/fix to Batman's flawed ideology and morals and becoming an anti hero that does what the flawed justice system can't do is great contrast to Batman and gives Jason a more wholesome end.
Homelander and masculinity would be interesting
Just discovered your channel. I find your vids are interesting. After watching your Nightwing video, I am starting to think about this stuff a lot more. I feel like because people view masculinity as the default, we often don’t think about it as much in media. Great vids, keep up the good work!
"Nightwing and Red Hood represent two sides of the same coin of Batman" What about Tim and Damian? Does that mean Batman has 2 coins?
arkham knight is one of my favorite stories for jason
Remember in the comics superboy prime punch a whole in reality and resurrected Jason
My favorite Robin
The Main Continuty Jason Is Probably The Only Character Botter To Follow IN Moder DC
He was wtitten by the same autor for like 10 years so hes slow but stedy development is really good in my opinion
He does started more or less aftter his Under the Red Hood Self same ouffit abd similar personality
But trow all thise years he overcomes all that trauma and becomes what he allways was supose to be
Theres a small interaction he has whit Bizzarro that make me cry when i reed it
Hes literaly telling him to look at the preaty flowers while charging a kriptonite gun , now thats Bizzarro hes is a being capeble of destroying the hole world but also is someone thats not fully aware of whats hapeing
Jason aims the gun at Bizzarro but realises that, Bizzarro is not a moster he juat needs guidense like he did at some point so he dosent pull the trigger
Past Jason wouldnt hesited but all the Camarads ans thihgs he had live make him not pull the trigger even if it was the most logical anwser
Because Some Times People Deserve More
He wasn’t mad at him for not saving him or replacing him, he’s angry because even after all that’s happened, after taking his life, he still won’t kill the Joker. Thank God, cause he’d be the same as Joker
Jason got a real miracle treatment eith his revival. That said, I PRAY DC doesn't kill off Tim or try to make him edgy in order to replicate Jason (they've already screwed up Tim enough, I'd say).
They literally did. I talked to a comic curater, Jason is currently on his Redemption arc with his family. TBH only like 1/100 like Tim and they tend to be gay or tumblr users
I wish we would've gotten an Under the Red Hood movie in live action. It's a fantastic story, but all Hollywood seems to do is make more dark and brooding lone wolf Batman movies. So boring.
0:09 following this reasoning Tim is Bruce's intellect and Damian his Fathernity
Imran back on the grind
That video was amazing! You weren't shitting on Jason, you said the truth!
red hood is far superior to batman.
Red hood is the peak of masculinity, productive and thinks on the long term rather going on his feelings that ,, he feels bad"
Tim really needs to be covered, the guy is awesome.
0:54 depends on timeline. in other timelines he got his body messed up. and starting wearing bondages till he changed them with red hood
Overcoming trauma is definitely something far from easy. Id say im like a watered-down red hood, but id definitely want to be more like nightwing.
Also, have you ever watched "sinbad: legend of the seven seas"?
I think itd be cool if you made a vid on him. And maybe some other characters from different franchises.
Maybe
Percy Jackson
Harry Potter
Transformers
Star wars
Etc.
@@giyuutomioka6974 yes it ain't easy, and I hope u well on ur journey
Good stuff
one of my favorite hero’s
My favorite member of the fam best written
That’s what I’ve been waiting for
I would very much like if you could do Mike Tyson next, his masculinity is one that shouldn’t shudder an eye a way.
I will definitely be making a video on him eventually!
@@imranbulks Please do I’m intrigued by the way he is. His mental structure and how he approaches life.
Got it, decaptitating your enemies is masculine. Say no more, Patron.
Keep the masculinity videos coming 🙏🏼
Have you thought about making femininity episodes?
His a dude
He is a dude
I don't think he's got the qualifications for that
i very well might be the only woman viewing this video (and this whole series of videos- i watched the other dc videos after this one, and they were all excellent), but i wanted to put in my two cents.
whilst i don’t believe in the whole “jason todd was always a mean kid” rewrite (he loved being robin, he was bright and cheery as robin, and that’s what made his story so heartbreaking), something that’s spoken of a lot here, i love the idea that jason is dick’s foil. whilst dick became a mirror of bruce’s best qualities, jason represents the worst: the need for revenge, a version of batman who was crippled by his circumstances instead of growing above it.
i love this series & your personal views and philosophies surrounding the idea of masculinity. jason is insecure in a lot of things in his life, and his masculinity suffers as well. such a wise series. i love seeing masculinity spoken about in more ways than just toxic hypermasculinity because it is so deeply important.
i would love to see your thoughts on the innate effeminate nature written into the joker, although it doesn’t quite fit the themes of these videos. i feel like his effeminate features- something that’s emphasized in many of his incarnations- contrasts batman’s masculinity in a way that’s fascinating.
keep up the nice work this is fantastic stuff🫶
It's cause he was invented in like the 60s and behaving like the stereotypes of fruity folk was an easy way to show that he was bad
You should do a video on the Punisher; he has some similarities to Jason Todd. In some cases, Frank Castle might be more damaged than Jason Todd which would make for an interesting video.
What masculinity? That's my malewife
Can you please do Tim drake next he’s my favorite robin
I have an off topic question to imran, what do you think would happen to someone who doesn’t have a good father figure at all?
Just curious are you religious? Atheist asking.
Can you do an Optimus Prime and Masculinity
What has this got to do with masculinity
Could you do Giles from BTVS?
Please, could you make a video about Leon S. Kennedy from Resident Evil?
Another Great Work Mate ! (Jon Snow Next Plz 🔥)
Can you now talk about my favorite Robin Tim Drake
Can you do a video on Caesar from The modern “planet of the apes” series related to his philosophy and masculinity!!

It seems you responded to my comment about my request to your last video about Nightwing.
Took you long enough

If Dick went through what Jason went through he wouldn’t be any different Jason went through way worse and he cared about Batman but he had to question Batman’s methods
