- In 1998, Konami release a game from a long standing franchise that had a large hand in the cinematic direction of video games, Metal Gear Solid
From that point on, the sometimes convoluted exploits of the series protagonist Solid Snake would continue to push the boundaries of the console technology of the time, in terms of art and story telling within the medium.
But just how much does Snake change from entry to entry?

They nerfed his cheeks in fortnite and it's quite sexist. Women, even in fortnite, are sexualized for their butt's and snake was one of the few feminist characters that had gender equality with that, and Epic nerfed it. Western devs are afraid of hot men.

I have desparately missed Low Poly, so I'm glad to see it's back. I really hope that the Yakuza series with Kazuma Kiryu gets covered someday.
I think it's going to be a LONG time before he can justify PS2/Gamecube/Xbox era creations or characters that leapt to 3D IN that era. My guess/hopes for the next 5 episodes?

I'm actually shocked at how few polys MGS 2 Snake has, but it really shows how powerful good texture work is for carrying a model.

The technological jump from mgs1 to mgs2 is insane
The amount of research and tooling that it must've taken to extract and present those models has to be quite insane, so well worth the wait!

I remember when you first started this series back when I was still in high school just interested in game design and now I've been learning and practicing 3D modelling for the last couple years, really makes me appreciate these models and videos so much more now.

Awesome episode man, it’s been fun observing the model with a different mindset from before. When the last episode came out I had barely started my modeling classes in college and now I’ve graduated and can understand each technique they used and can try and see how I can do those same tricks.

There's a few models missing, but I understand it's difficult when Snake has appeared in so many games. Mobile from 2008 for N-Gage being an interesting one.
It's cool to see how much heavy lifting the textures do in these models, and I'm all for it. Fantastic representation of materials.

Was wondering the other day about this series and not only did you brought it back, but with my favorite games of all time!!
I am so glad to see this come back! If you do decide to continue the series, the only suggestion I have would be a look at Scorpion or Sub-Zero from Mortal Kombat, as not only hardware changes but design changes between each game would make for an interesting episode
I just love this series. I understand it may be hard to make, but your hardwork on this series makes up for it from your endearing fans. Keep up the great work!

This was awesome! Would have liked to see the Metal Gear Acid 1 & 2 models in comparison, as well as the DreamMix TV Snake, but maybe there will be a follow up once Delta comes out?

My man, I was here for the series' start and every time for the last couple years that a new game came out in a decades-old series, Yakuza, SpongeBob, Resident Evil, Ratchet and Clank and several others I probably forget off the top of my head, I remember and ask myself where the heck this series went. I would think to myself man, I'd like to see a Low Poly episode on this! There's some catching up to do by now ahah! Good to see you back, even if for just one episode for a time

MGS V Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain was also released on PS3 and Xbox 360 and developed for those systems, which may be the reason the character models look blurrier than expected for PS4 and Xbox One generation of consoles.

From a technical perspective, in my opinion, I think MGS2 is what marked the era of a new generation of videogames, not just due to the amazing graphics. Every single detail in that game, from camera angles to body movements to even the audio just proved how dedicated Kojima and company were in making this game. This game is a technical achievement that still stands strong nearly 25 years later and the graphics have aged well considering what the PS2 was capable of.
