Chicken rice is about 60-70 baht a meal like most dishes. Daily food budget of 300 baht (8.6 dollar) is enough for 1 person. Cooking at home is only gonna save you money if you like to eat a lot of meat.
Most people think Thailand is a 3th world country till they visit these kind of supermarkets/malls. Everything is in English and these kind of supermarkets are more fancy then the one's in Belgium, France, Spain, Italy etc...
What you may need to know is that Makro and Lotus supermarkets are owned by the same person, CP Group, and Makro is cheaper because it is a wholesale market for shops and restaurants.
Shit man you would have spent $32 here just on the wings and steak alone and I live in Atlanta Georgia. I'm glad you did this. So is the chicken completely safe to eat? Was it kept cold? If you eat from the grocery store and drink bottled seltzer water can I avoid getting sick from sloppy food prep I hear a lot about.?
Thailand food is very safe. The street food is just as safe as restaurants at a fraction of the price. I did get sick once since moving here but that was after eating at a western franchise restaurant.
Man next time go to premium supermarket like tops, gourmet market and villa market oh and also foodland. Many imported stuff and premium grades food but the prices is also higher tho.

For me, it's not about how long this video takes. It seems like dairy in particular is similarly priced or even high relative to the US. What I've found odd is that there doesn't ever seem to be chicken broth available,
