    In all seriousness, it's a mobile phone addiction. Dopamine triggered when discovering something on the phone which is a feedback loop causing the person to repeat the exercise.

      Phone use is addictive, so are cars. Most car journeys are unnecessary too.

    • @johnmanning5568
      @johnmanning5568 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Absolutely. I have said this for a long time. The action of holding the phone is similar to a baby’s pacifier or dummy as we called it. It’s also as bad as a heroin addict needing his fix. It really is that bad. I challenge anyone to walk along their main street where they live when the traffic is at walking pace and I guarantee you will see many people …mainly young ones…with their phone either in their hand or resting on their thigh.

    It really angers me to see so many drivers using hand-held devices while operating a car. It doesn't make a blind bit of difference if they are stopped in traffic at a red light. Some 25 years ago, I was rear ended of my bicycle by a driver who was "Surprise! Surprise!" on their mobile phone. This was before it was made illegal to use a mobile phone whilst driving. I was seriously injured, majority of injuries healed. However, I will have my slip disc T6-T7 for the rest of my life. My newsagent is only across the road from me. For perspective, I live in a cul-de-sac that is in the shape of a circle. However, the newsagents is part of a larger complex, consiting of a barbers, bookies, pub, said newsagent, chemist, hairdresser, 2 empty units and a chipper, and apartments above. There are 2 entrances to the carpark area of the shopping units, one on the main road and the other that comes onto the road connecting the main road to my neighbourhood. I was walking back from the shops yesterday evening and I saw a neighbour exiting the carpark and turning into my estate from what we call the side carpark entrance/exit. She was on her mobile phone while she was driving. Well, I let an almighty roar at her to get off the phone while she is driving. I didn't care how near she was to home. Well done, Mikey.

    Interesting at 5:32 how the driver of the silver Mercedes rolled forward a short distance whilst still texting just as a jogger crossed directly in front...and the traffic ahead was still stationary! I wonder how much further forward the Mercedes would have moved if the car in front had honked it's horn, either to warn the driver about you or indeed in error. Interestingly I believe the car behind did indeed honk it's horn just before you turned off your camera by mistake.

      I prefer banana milkshakes to chocolate. There’s no point in comparing them to vanilla because vanilla is pretty much the base flavour to most milkshakes so in my eyes that would be like having a plain milkshake. Straight mixer, you know what I mean? Anyway, I hope you make the right decision the next time you’re faced with the option. Banana flavour is so overlooked and if we don’t work together on it, it just might disappear. As the old saying goes “you don’t know what you’ve got until it’s gone”. I hope I can count on you, lb S.

      @@him5695 I could have agreed with the idea that the cabbie was just trying to be kind... Until he deliberately moved his vehicle over to hug the white lines. At that point you can be certain he wasn't trying to be kind, he wasn't suggesting that it would be safer on the left, he was just being an a-hole.

    • @cargy930
      @cargy930 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@him5695 It's hardly a _"very narrow two way road"_ when it's got a third lane in the centre, and even less so when you consider that said centre lane is coned-off to traffic. So I think _"in the middle straddling centre lines"_ is something of a mis-statement.

In stop start traffic i suspect that goes up to 3 in 10... none of them ever notice me peering into their car windows... I am thinking of filming them for you tube.. hahahaha

    The misinformed "lecturing" taxi driver might want to practice the "tyres & tarmac" principle when stopping behind other vehicles. He kept stopping way too close to the errant Audi in front. Look at 0:22 for example. Plus he was even tailgating the Audi when they moved off. Funny how some drivers seem to think they "know best" about driving matters... except that they don't. Plus, he doesn't seem to appreciate that you are trying to keep the roads safe... including for him!

      @@Horizon301. For the driver and front seat passenger, the only people going to be affected by a lack of a seatbelt is themselves. But I'm sure I remember an old advert about an unsecured passenger in the backseat slamming into the front seat and killing a driver, but surviving the impact. "Julie knew her killer..." or similar...
      Belt up, guys - no-one really wants to scrape/those you off your windscreen.

      @@eddyblackmore2834 There was one advert that claimed an unbelted adult male, would be thrown forward with the comparable force of a two ton bull elephant at 30mph. It would crush the person in front, even if you weren't ejected out of the front windscreen...!

    Those drivers who moved forward, with both hands on their phone, should also be done for not being in proper control.
