  • This is the 5-month (or slightly past that) update on my postoperative progress since having my ACL reconstruction surgery. For those who don't know, I suffered a pretty nasty judo injury back in November 2019 that completely ruptured my ACL. I finally had a reconstruction via patellar tendon graft about 10 months later, and things seem to be on track so far.
While I won't be running marathons or doing backflips just yet, I've begun regaining some ability to plant, shift, and pivot. I recently began doing ladder and box jump exercises in PT, and that's continuing to progress as the weeks go by. Squatting, leaning, and taking stairs have all become mostly normal processes now.
*SO SORRY for the lateness of this video! I recorded it late enough, but then it ended up being delayed further due to a winter storm that blew through and shut down central Texas where I currently live. I was boiling snow for four days and had to focus on that whole survival thing, sadly. There should be a quicker turnaround for my 6-month video, as I'll hit that milestone in a handful of days.
Thanks for watching, and stay tuned for other content (reaction videos, discussions on exercise/martial arts, and even some eventual technique-related stuff as I regain strength and confidence with the knee)!
