Ah, Your doing a fine job George ! Be sure to get a Spring for that as soon as you can . Bungee cords don't like heat to well . Sure is going to be a fine little truck when your done .. Good work & God Bless !!
great job and video ,i was wondering if a man could use a throttle cable from a 1973 to 1981 chevy c1o and save yourself a lot of time and trouble ,just a thought ,keep up the good work ,this is the best video i have found to do this .happy trails .
You have been busy George. Thats some nice back yard engineering on the throttle cable. I hope you don't run in to many more issue and the rest of it goes smoothly. Looking forward to hearing it start up.
Thank you Bob. I hope to be back at it again on Tuesday. Drs app on Monday. I bought a cable cutter today to facilitate cutting the SS braided lines for the fuel system. That should make that come together pretty quickly.
@@nashguy207 No, I go to Savannah now. It saves me 30 minutes of driving time. Nashville was 1.5 hours and Savannah is just under 1 hour. We should still get together sometime. You'll get to see me meet another TH-camr in my next video. He and his wife drove over from Arkansas. Blessings for your day today.
Great work George I can't wait to hear it run either. I once had an early square S10 that started dying on me and I put everything under the sun on it from the injectors, computer, fuel pump, distributor module, and I don't remember what else but I finally gave up and sold it.
My son-in-law, the Big Dawg, asked me what I was going to do if it doesn't run...I don't have an answer for that, as I am focused on getting it going. Maybe even today! Thanks so much John. I was ready to give up after throwing all the stuff at the computer system including the $$$$. Well, I have spent much more $$$ now for this conversion, but am confident I can make this work. I'm sure I'll still have some gremlins to chase even after getting it started.
I expect to hook up the cruise once everything else is working. I'm trying to accomplish the necessary things first. I was hoping to get my fuel system setup today, but haven't been able to successfully cut the braided steel hoses. I'm going to buy a cable cutter tomorrow which is recommended for cutting this stuff. The regulator is mounted and waiting. Thanks Vernon
Whoa Dude! Long time no see. Hope to see some new videos from you soon. Thanks for stopping by....I just went and checked your site and see that you have been still posting. Somewhere along the way my subscription to you got dropped. Now I have a lot to catch up on.
I'm doing the reverse of what you have been doing. This is more along the lines of what I am familiar with. I was an auto tech back in the 70s-80s when this was the top of the line setup. Thanks for following along, Dean.
Wanted to ask you George so on this carburetor is it a 4 barrel carburetor you have if so that should give ur truck more power also you should put some custom exhaust on your truck
Yes, it is a Holley 4 barrel carburetor and probably will give it more power, but my main goal is just to get it running again. Exhaust may be modified later, we'll see. Thanks Mason
I'm not sure I will need it. I do have ported vacuum on the carburetor if I need it. I gave away my timing light when I moved, figuring I'd never need it again...I hope the local AutoZone has one to lend. Thanks Duke
I have a question to ask you but i ran into a problem with the distributor,i took the hei out of my 85 350 to put in the vortec 350 and I can't get it to seat all the way down on the intake,do i need to order a specific distributor for the votec, could you send me your email address and I'll send you my phone number were I could explain it in a little more . thank you
You'll need to get a distributor for a V6 engine: here is the link to the one I bought: www.ebay.com/itm/262671175600 V6 and V8 are similar but not the same. You can contact me at theshadetreefixitman@gmail.com
The problem you are having is the oil pump drive is not lined up, put the large cap HEI distributor in and turn the engine over and it will drop down into position... Make sure you have a melonized gear on your distributor... A V6 and V8 distributor are NOT the same!!! This old man might get lucky and get this to start but I don't think he has a clue what he's doing...
I'm excited to hear it fire up!
Not as excited as I will be. Thanks for following along.
Little by little, one piece at a time and you'll be riding in high cotton! Good work George, look forward to the first fire up.
I'm hoping for this next week if all the parts come in on time. Thanks Ken
Great work on the truck. It was nice of you and your wife to host a conclave of Cardinals too.
We have quite a few different birds coming in, and expect more in the next few weeks as the Spring migration. Thanks for following along Bry.
Mister, you're a better man than I . . . . you are getting closer . . . . . Rog
Not better, just determined to overcome this problem. Thanks Rog
Lots to consider in those tight quarters. One thing can affect another, good luck George
And the quarters are getting tighter all the time. Thanks for following along, Lloyd.

Thank you Shawn. I have replaced the bungee with a spring already. That was just temporary to make sure everything would work properly.
Glad to see how far along you are. I would still be looking for what I should do first.
I think about it most of the night in between times. It's a process that I'm sure you have in your business too. Thanks Terry.
Great job George. I'm going to attempt that in the next month here.
You can do it! Thanks for stopping by. Mine ran well until it caught fire as a result of a fuel leak... It was a fun project.
You can do it!
Looking good George ! Thank you for sharing your journey !! I pray you all stay safe and God bless you !!!! Eddy
Thank you so much. The blessings are appreciated.
Nice vid George! 👍

George, you're Awesome!

Slow but sure. The parts hiccups have been the major problem. Thanks Matt.
