Watching this specific Noel's video, him travelling with his wife, Noel earned much more respect from my side! It's so touchy when we see a married couple with its members loving and supporting each other, staying together for very many years despite the adversities...And kudos to Noel's wife for raising their kids while Noel was busy flying those "russian roulette" or "luxury class" flights!

Noel, It would be good to see more flights with your wife as fibromyalgia is so debilitating and is quite a common syndrome. It is good to see a person with fibromyalgia traveling and being outside of their comfort zone. Travels with your wife is a good role model of what is possible. Maybe more input on whether the travel caused flare-ups with the fibro would be good too. I noticed on the lunch in Spain vlog that your wife suffered from a flare-up halfway through the day. I really enjoy your videos.

being based at JFK for many years flying for TWA and American, it looked like you landed 31R and took off 4R. TWA flight attendants were the best and you could tell who the AA FA's that were ex TWA because of the service and they were very nice .

One flight with AA was enough to ensure I'd never make that mistake again. They were shockingly rude. First the male attendant in my section refused to put my bag in the overhead despite the fact that I had my arm in a sling. Another kindpassenger was kind enough to do it for me and also got it down when it was time to de-plane.
Then a man went to the restroom and the female attendant told him in a tone dripping with condescension that the seatbelt light was on. He said he knew but he had to go. She told him "If we hit turbulence and you crack your skull open that's on you!", rolled her eyes, then proceeded to loudly talk crap about him to another passenger the entire time he was using the facilities. I dont care if she was having the worst day of her career, that was inexcusable. I vowed to never fly them again and 13 years later I still haven't.

I remember hearing about a transatlantic flight in the 1980's that had a security threat, and most of the passengers transferred to other flights when they heard this, but a few didn't, so they took off with only 4 passengers. They told them to sit wherever they liked on the plane, including first class, to thank them for sticking with the flight.

I've flown the BA 787 from Toronto to Heathrow and back in 2012, I believe. It was crowded, the economy class seats have had padding removed, are closer together, and the seat pitch is useless. That's what turned me off on 787s...(client paid for economy ticket) and I have refused to fly 787 Cattle-Class ever since....on any airline.

Interesting about the crew you flew with on American. When I flew from Sydney, Aus to LAX with them in 2016, the plane was about 1/3 full. Their service was fantastic, they would walk around every half hour or so to make sure everyone was comfortable and if they needed anything. They put all the extra snacks and drinks by each sets of toilets so that people could get whatever they liked (barring alcohol). They came around and helped people with their immigration cards if they had never been to the USA before.
Everyone who I saw stepp off that flight looked really pleased with the experience
When I flew from LAX to Auckland, NZ 3 1/2 months later, the plane was full. A couple of the flight attendants were relatively friendly, but the rest didn't want to be there and seemed to be frustrated that the plane was full. They ran out of food options for meals and had the same reaction to people asking about what was left when they had run out.
Moral of the story, the emptier an AA flight is, the better the service!

That is exactly what I have noticed with United airlines, on every flight I have taken with them it has always been the same, the older cabin crew are nice and friendly but the younger ones do not look like they wanna be there at all and are quite rude, I flew United from Zurich to Dulles a couple of months ago in Polaris and as I was asked what I wanted with my Sundae I asked "What are the options?" and the cabin crew, this young woman, said and I quote, "*Sigh* It's on the menu, did you not read it?" in a very sarcastic tone and I was tempted to just be like Boi, you better watch your mouth, I'm payin your wages atm, but in the end, I just had butterscotch lol, also amazing video!

I took American for the first time last week and I had the exact same thoughts. flight went smoothly apart from the attitude of the flight attendants. They kept hitting the meal trolley into my armrest and either finding it hilarious or giving me a dirty looks every time and when I dropped a packet of milk after it was carelessly tossed at me, the woman gave me a disgusted look, sighed and picked it up half throwing it in my hand. Made me feel totally appreciated as a customer

I experienced the same with United, had a lovely older gentleman who handed out snacks four times during an hour hop from Toronto to Newark, he cracked jokes during snack and beverage service and was absolutely wonderful company, but then I connected at Newark to Miami with United and the younger crew came past once and barely acknowledged the passengers and "skimped out" on the snack/beverage service and then were never to be seen again.

In years past, BA always stood out; however, today, in my opinion, they're about the same as AA when it comes to service and food. Personally, I think AA has better seats in first and business when compared to BA, particularly when compared to BA's tight business class cabin/seat.

Noel, your vlogs are so much more informative than those of the much better known "jazz guy 13" and "simply aviation" producers (I am convinced they are all related, if not the very same parties) - you really include the human touch. My own most memorable flights came in 1970 nd 1971 - - - New Jersey to Vietnam both ways on DC8-63CF planes. 29 hours over with 3 ground stops, 24 back with two stops. Japan to Seattle in 7:15; pilots had to throttle back to avoid going supersonic! Is there anything flying today that can compare with those planes?

Watching the transfer to baggage on the Airport Car reminds me of the first time I flew through Heathrow. We traveled to Florida with four little kids, ages 18 months to 6 years old. They gave us a ride to the connecting gate, and the staff was very professional courteous, and kind the whole way.

It’s funny you went by the plaza hotel and mentioned home alone 2 then your flight number 176 is the same flight number Kevin took to New York in the movie! Random, I know. 😁

Interesting video - thanks. We're flying to Chicago from Heathrow in April on American Airlines - first transatlantic for a few years. We specifically chose the AA flights over BA (same price, of course) because I wanted to fly on the Dreamliner. Now I'm wondering how we'll find it! Also, we'll be in Economy on the way out & Prem Econ on the way back - it will be interesting to see of that makes a difference.

Just found your channel and have been catching up. I thought it was cool when you showed the screen of you flying over New England on your way home it actually showed the name of my hometown. I like when your wife joins you because I too have a disability (multiple sclerosis) when I travel I tell people I only have my cane with me to whack stupid people in the airport haha

I usually have the opposite problem on international flights! All meat options and no veggie options left, even when I’ve requested one ahead of time! But the FAs have always been very apologetic and some have even scrapped together items from other meals so I have something to eat. I would be appalled if they told me to “take it or leave it.” 😳

Definitely better to have veggie options than to only have meat! At least then everyone (minus vegans/intolerant) can eat something! :) I'd always choose veggie anyway tbh :)

@@davidrichardson8247 but preference isn't the same. If veggie is the only open Everyone can eat it, if meat is then not everyone can eat it. Whether you'd prefer meat or not. Also veggie meals are usually so much nicer, actual flavours it's great ;)

I found the same on recent AA flights. Some staff members are surly and not at all friendly. Serious attitude adjustments required and makes me wonder about their training.

I must say crew as you said makes it. I live in New York, but I am flying into Manchester later to see my mates at Survivors Manchester and couple others, but far as carriers in US go Delta is consistently better. I fly them alot and have been happy .

I did the exact same last year. AA 777 to JFK, then BA 787 back from Newark.
Didn't rate the hard product on either at the seats were so narrow, especially on BA as we'd paid extra for the front row. I forgot the seats were narrower to accommodate the TV and tray table.
Didn't have an issue with the staff on either flight. I did find the AA TV system more responsive.

Enjoyed this Noel , I’m happy to see now that Aer Lingus’ new UK branch will be starting up Services from Manchester to Destinations in the USA and Barbados, I’m probably going to book an economy ticket to New York on the A321 LR , would be very good for me instead of connecting down in Heathrow or Dublin ,
