Noel, i used to work for Thomas Cook Airlines and once i priced up LGW to SFB for £2.69 instead of £269, we sold 20 seats at that fare before I realised. We honoured the flights. Maybe thats why they went brankupt. Shh don't tell my ex-boss

Small correction: They will never wait to refund you until get to the airport. If they want to do that, it’s long before - usually a day or two after the error has been detected. Airport staff don’t look at your fare because that’s not their problem.
Yeah, I think in the EU they have to notify/refund you at least 14 days before the flight

there was a Cathay Pacifc first class error fare last year where they were sold for economy prices - the airline honoured them

I'm From Montreal and have used that airport several times. There are just some grumpy people here. I have incountered some of them but its really a 50/50
I'm planning on moving to Montreal, i've got my papers in order. Just waiting for this whole coronavirus to pass. My last experience with the airport wasn't bad... I am American.

I’ve just finished a 30 year stint as main crew and then in charge (CSD) crew with British Airways and to be honest, my job would have been so much easier with enthusiastic, polite passengers like you. Oh and by the way, Montreal immigration staff are notoriously rude. The rest of Canada are fine, its just the french influence in Montreal. Great report.

French people can be really nice and the staff are not all Canadian. Living in a city is stressful, hence the attitudes.

I went to Montreal when I was 12 in the 80's and I was so shocked because everyone was really rude. I have never had a desire to go back to Montreal, but I have been to Canada several times.
Hello from Vancouver, British Columbia Noel. I'm sorry to hear that you had a bad experience with Canada Customs (CBSA) at YUL. The CBSA at YVR aren't any better in my opinion, even towards Canadians returning home. Nevertheless, that was an awesome video and yes, a fantastic deal!
I have travelled all over the world and Montreal Customs were the worst. So surprising because Canadians are so welcoming and kind.
You're correct, the immigrations officers in Canada are the rudest I've ever encountered.

My favorite customs experience was Chicago coming back from England. I had my little declaration paper marked "$1000 misc." The customs guy, in his Chicago accent, dubiously asked "$1000 misc.? What kind of misc?"
I said, "a trip to Ireland I have brothers, a sister, parents, kids, nieces, nephews, and everyone of them wants a souvenir $1000 worth of misc. shit misc".
He smiled, stamped my paperwork, and said have a good day.

My first impression of Canadian customs was pretty much the same. And I arrived with an off-duty family member who was an Air Canada employee. Yet I was grilled for why exactly I was visiting Canada even though I was an American arriving with a Canadian citizen from LAX. Was rather bizarre.
I was sipping a diet Coke when you said the name of the Captain. It shot out my nose! LOL. Love your videos. If we are ever in the same airport at the same time drinks are on me.

Had similar issues with immigration in Trudeau before - both the Canadian ones (who really couldn't understand why I was flying to the US via YUL - was to get an MD11 before they retired) and the US CBP (who tried to claim my job didn't exist despite being a relatively common career). Definitely the worst I've experienced to date.
The flight was 7 hours and 47 minutes. Best time ever

Sorry to hear about the Montreal Immigration staff. I've flown through Calgary and Vancouver airports in the past and they were very friendly, polite and professional.
I’ve flown through Montreal and both the Canadian and American immigration officials were wonderful!
Guess it depends on the people that the staff deal with on a day-to-day basis, some people are complete idiots to these immigration staff. And it has a knock on effect with that particular staff member for the rest of the day.
Once he was able to check in with Swiss in Barcelona and got his boarding passes for the rest of the flights, there was no chance he would be denied boarding on any of them as he was fearing.
I would have thought if they were going to not let you on board anywhere along the journey it would have been the check in that was blocked - I can't see them letting you go as far as the boarding gate. Fantastic!
Awesome Noel! I did the same error fare trip BCN-FRA-YUL-BOS on February 1st for 33£ 😁 However on my way back my flight from YYZ to ZRH got cancelled due to weather. I was rebooked on Lufthansa to get to BCN via FRA and this flight got cancelled as well. But due to technical reasons. So I got to BCN 24 hours later and just yesterday received my 600€ compensation. Now beat that! 😁😁😁 Anyway thanks for your videos and also for likes on my IG. Safe travels!!!

@@adamm1539 Yeah it does. Most cities have multiple airports, usually a different airport or terminal is used for cheaper airlines, meaning the airport offers a lower standard of service.

Ah - that's because he had to buy a £9.99 Ryanair ticket to fly to Barcelona to start the £27.50 transatlantic flight.

Have you ever thought of doing the trip to Yellowknife Canada and flying on the scheduled warbirds with Buffalo that was made famous with the Ice Pilots TV series? That would be epic.
Keep in mind, when entering Montreal, You're also entering Quebec. Some folks treat Quebec a "little different" to Canada.

I confirm the rudeness of Canada's immigrations. I had a transit in Toronto, between Peru and France, as it oddly was the cheapest fare. They interrogated me as if I had been Pablo Escobar, and really scared me. Then at some point I asked, irritated: "Why should I give you any of those personal informations ?" then the officer went red and litterally shouted "DON'T YOU GET IT ? YOU'VE BEEN TARGETED !!!" and explained that they had imagined I was trafficking cocaine, as they could not figure out why I was taking such a long route. So I explained, I just had a cheap ticket from a travel agent going through Canada. To what she replied I should have told her this before: blaming *me* for her agressive attitude. But... she never asked at any moment why I was taking this route. Does not make me want to go to Canada ever, from that first impression, it looks like a fascist country.

Stansted's fine, as long as it's not in the school holidays.
Nothing compared to Kos airport. It is hell, the flights barely happen to and from the place, the airport not including the taxi way, is smaller then my local mall and there is only 3 shops, not even a duty free.
EDIT: And there isnt even a restaraunt, also, the place is way to crowded whe you can go to the country, ONLY IN SUMMER!
I agree with you about Montreal customs. I have been through there many times and always had bad experience with them. The last time I mislaid my landing card, and they treated me like a terrorist. Police escort and everything. Luckily a cleaner found the card which had dropped from my bag. But there was no reason for them to be so rude and unpleasant. Not the first time either !

People don't work as hard in Toronto as Montreal, so work isn't as stressful. I've come across some rude people in Toronto
Both times I went to Montreal the customs agents were so rude. One even asked me a question then cut me off in the middle of the answer. I was confused at all the rudeness... 2 times in a row. It's clearly encouraged

I had a hard time in Montreal as well traveling the reverse of his first two flights to Zurich. They re-checked everyone's tickets and passports at the gate before the flight and for some reason decided that it was appropriate to give me shit for not flying direct from Boston. What am I supposed to say when questioned why? "I'm sorry it was cheaper to fly here and connect" ?

From my experience, Montreal and Quebec are largely French speaking and the people are definitely ruder and more difficult there.
In the rest of Canada, Toronto, Calgary, Vancouver for example, found no problems at all. ( From Australia )
Montreal is in Quebec and unfortunately they don't want to be part of Canada and all about wanting to seperate from Canada, their completely french, even trying to current pass a law that makes speaking English illegal🤦🏼♀️ please don't assume that Quebec is what like Canadians are because their nothing like us

I had a connecting flight in Toronto and like you I had such a bad experience with immigration even though I wasn't staying there. The official asked me a ton of questions and a searched all my bags and luggage. He even went through my note pad and read all my stuff. Thought I was gonna miss my connecting flight.
Canadian Immigration, especially at Montreal is really difficult, especially when I’ve travelled on my own through there.
I once took my son and they weren’t happy that I had permission to travel with him, even after showing them photos on my phone of other trips he had accompanied me on.

I had a terrible experience with English-canadian immigration, they were extremely rude for no reason.
@@jonathanr1788 Sometimes people just aren't feeling their jobs. Even with a Canadian Passport I get stopped and asked a load of questions but I guess that's their job at the end of the day! Hope you'll consider giving Canada a go again in the future!

I’ve never had a passport or flown anywhere and at 49, I doubt I’ll start being adventurous now.
I have to use a wheelchair due to not being able to walk far due to fibromyalgia and I doubt the cheap airlines would let me travel cheaply as they’d have to stow my spaz chaz in the hold, which is a shame.
