this is a video about small town waterparks. i found some google reviews on the internet. then me and my friend read them and made a video about them. and then i put THAT on the internet.

Had to look up Jane’s review about the chimpanzee because I was morbidly curious. Turns out she was correct. This place had kept a chimpanzee named Candy in terrible conditions who ended up dying a couple years back. The park had been fighting a legal battle against a rescue organization called Chimp Haven, but they didn’t manage to save her before she passed away. :c
That so sad.
Yep, at a place called Dixie Landin, which is attached to the Blue Bayou Water Park. It makes more sense when you know it was in the amusement part section instead of the water park, but that doesn't really make it any less depressing.

I once went to a water park and a kid pooped in the pool and I was walking along the side and just saw a massive turd floating around people. A few seconds later everyone noticed at once and the entire pool was pandemonium, adults and children battling to get out of the pool, old ladies punching children...

Real quick as a business owner: leaving a good google review of a business can turn someone’s whole day around and really helps them grow and be seen. As a balance, a one star review destroys someone. Wield your power carefully
That's actually nice to know. Anytime I leave a review I try to point out that it's personal anecdote and leave a thoughtful explanation as to what happened, good or bad or neutral.
I wish more people took reviews seriously.
I tend to read multiple reviews to see if the problem is faulty product or the people working there or something else. Usually you can tell pretty quickly if there are multiple complaints about the same issue.
If it's "this place was lame" then it's not helpful at all.
I'd also think that leaving thoughtful negative reviews can sometimes show the owners of the business or people working there where they could improve, as long as it's clear what the problem was.
It's obvious that sometimes people are just mad because they didn't get what they want or they made a mistake and don't believe they should be called out for it.
I think Google really doesn't stress this point enough, what with their meaningless "Local Guide" title and whatnot.
Hell yeah, I leave good reviews all the time. lol Honestly, I kinda wish the business would acknowledge they saw it.

This place really didn't do it for me. Sat there over an hour and there was this impaled dude on a cross. They served one biscuit and a sip of wine. Worst restaurant ever.

Last time I went to a water park, some underpaid worker pulled up a trolley to the kiddie pool and started testing the water with their little vials and litmus paper. As they tested, they started frowning, and called over another worker to look at the tests. They were both shaking their heads and looking around kinda nervously, and that is why it was the last time I went to a public pool.
it was probably an improper mix of chemicals, which they should have evacuated the pools for in the first place, so that’s pretty unprofessional
context: I work at a public waterpark, and have been every summer since 2016 (with the exception of 2020, bc of miss rona)

The whole “Local Guide” thing is really funny because literally anyone can do it, all you have to say is that your over 18 and it makes you seem so much more official, but it means literally nothing.
They promised perks and I received no perks. 0/10
You have to get to level 6 to be a Google Guide, and you get perks after level 8, which means a couple hundred reviews/pictures uploaded. The only real perk is that your reviews show up first and sometimes you'll get discounts if any places in your area actually offer them for Google Guides- which of course almost nowhere does. I was bamboozled but hey at least shitty pictures I took of some store's signs have 100k views I guess 😂😂

Omg. I can relate to Sabrina. Sometimes the slides are too steep or have a "jump" and you end up hovering above the slide and then slamming down. It happened to me one and I hit so hard and at a horrible angle that once I got down to the bottom I couldn't get up by myself. The lifeguard saw it happen so he was already at the end of my slide and he literally had to pick me up and carry me out of the water. By that point the whole base of my back was already visibly bruised and it was brutally painful to walk. I ended up stuck in bed for almost a week. It was so horrible and to this day my back and hips are fucked. Every time I sit I get very focused burning, stabbing pain to the left side of my spine on my lower back and it knocks the wind out of me. It's been like 10-12 years too.
See an orthopedic doctor if you can. There's a good chance they'll be able to do something about the injury, even if it's been a while since it occurred.
As well as an orthopedic doctor you can also try an osteopath!

The review about the injury caused by a waterslide that made someone go airbourne is pretty scary tbh. Theres a channel on YT called fascinating horror and they done a load of videos about theme park disasters etc and there was one about a waterslide that had repeated incidents with people going airbourne which eventually killed someone.
Yeah the kid got decapitated mid ride. I love Fascinating Horror for doing small pieces on events like that.

The water park with the chimp prison that Jane was talking about is only a 45 minute drive from my house, unless there's multiple chimp prison water parks, which is also a possibility. People also used to give the chimp cigarettes to smoke in the 80's.
My local hometown water park was called “dry town” and I went to check some reviews and found this one.

As someone who has worked at a water park in a suburban area for almost 10 years...I appreciated this thoroughly. Online reviews for waterparks crack me up, because trust me...no amount of negative reviews will hurt our business.
Also, assuming the Raging Waters location in question is the Sacramento location (not necessarily small town, but compared to the other 2 locations in San Jose and LA...Sac seems to be the smallest choice...) ...Rashing Waters is accurate. They're a neighboring park and they once mixed the chemicals improperly and were forced to evacuate the park due to a toxic gas cloud...

I have this phantom memory about that doesn't make any sense. It must have been a dream, because there were so many people around, and my mother would have killed me, but I just vaguely remember being on top of the stairs and peeing in a YMCA pool.
A couple of years ago my brother did the same thing, he got out and stood on the ladder and took a big piss

Google reviews are helpful when I want to know what the average person thinks, and if I want to see what restaurants suffice for even the most nitpicky douchenozzle I use Yelp.
I looked up the chimp. The chimp recently died at Baton Rouge amusement park...they also let it smoke cigarettes.

There is a review on a pet daycare in my town that said something along the lines of, “my I had them take care of my dog for two days and when I picked him up he was covered in what I think is pee. So disappointed.” And they still left it with 2 stars.

At 6:14 I think they are talking about Dixie Landin' in Baton Rouge. An amusement and waterpark that had a chimp named Candy, who spent her life in a small cage with little interaction and was nicknamed as the world's loneliness chimp. It is really fucked up and the chimp ended up dying before animal rights groups could get her moved.
I once went down a very steep waterslide in a one piece bathing suit and let's just say I had to immediately run to the bathroom

I'm pretty sure that chimpanzee review was actually talking about a water park, I've been to a water park where they just have a mini lil zoo just awkwardly their for no reason whatsoever.
Another commenter named K J here did some digging and it turns out that the amusement park called Dixie Landin right by Blue Bayou water park and said Chimp named Candy was kept in horrific conditions, the park was in a legal battle with a place called Chimp Haven. Sadly they were unable to get Candy out before she died.
The reviewer was entirely right, there also might not of been a separate review section for that conjoined area to the water park so they might of felt it was the only place to get the message out.

Sometimes google reviews are really sad and a big warning. The hospital in my city has reviews along the lines of: "They didn't find the multiple breaks in my leg.", "Had multiple strokes and they accused me of taking drugs hence the strokes, I told them that I didn't take any drugs. Got transferred to another hospital after my 3rd stroke." Or my brothers story where they ignored him for three hours after he had a bike accident and was bleeding internally. In the end he got to experience how it feels when your spleen explodes inside of you. That hospital kills people.

@@madamecaboose5431 Yeah he's fine now, except for the gigantic and really crappy scar on his entire stomach. He got injured quite often when he was younger, because he has the worst luck and always does stupid stuff.
The issue is that people tend to leave reviews when they have bad experiences and people with perfectly decent ones but not exceptional tend to not bother. So you see the worst of the worst in those reviews. It's entirely possible that a hospital really has lawsuits waiting to happen, but also possible that as unfortunate as it is in the medical field, mistakes happen, sometimes grave ones, or things are missed.
It's also possible that some of the doctors and such shouldn't be in that line of work, but everyone else who is there is competent.
It's a tough thing to figure out.
I think it's probably best if you find a review place like that to look into legal action that has been brought up against the place. If there is a lot of it, then it might be a safe bet to stay away if possible.
Given however your personal experiences, I would agree that the hospital your are talking about probably sucks and needs to be reformed or shut down. I'm glad your brother was okay in the end judging by your other comments and I'm sorry something like that happened. :(
@@vixxcelacea2778 I totally agree and I only use google reviews as an indicator to see what experiences people had and then I check if the bad ones are valid or just bad luck. But the hospital in my area had so many bad experiences that it's not just a one time thing. It's actually just the emergency department that's terrible, they have good surgeons (even though they let an inexperienced doctor my brothers stomach, which is why that thing itches from the inside). They did a perfect job with the new hip my grandma has, but everything else sucks. And they love to give you pain killers, my brother had ~30 pills after 3 days and not the light stuff. That's why we tell everyone to call an ambulance rather than going to the emergency department.
