Which do you really think will win? Is it heavy? Yes! Let's not be deluded though... an E46, as beautiful as it is, cannot even keep up with an F80, far less a G80 or G90, unless you tune the hell out of it to breaking point. One can love the classics but let's be realistic.

Hmm. Not a fan of that filled in illuminated grille. I'm sure someone will come up with a decent after-market fix for that though. Other than that for a while there I was starting to think it doesn't look too bad... until I looked back at the E39, & remembered what peak M5 looks like.

The only few things it missing is them sharp curvier sport styling chassis.
I would personally prefer the grills of current m4 and m3 they grown up on me whereas this looks little bit off now

Don’t like the lit up grill but overall looks like a beast you will all love it soon or later.
BMWs used to be the most proportional looking cars, side view would be just as nice to look at. Nowadays however, you have think about which view to like and sadly none.

How BMW lost themselves in less than 15 years? Remember that in 2010 an M5 had V10 engine and weighted less than 1800kg.
The e60 was also incredibly unreliable as fun as it was to drive
You'd most probably have to pay the same price you bought it for again in maintenance
The only good thing about it was the engine sound. You can whine about the design of new BMW's all you want but they're damn good to drive. That you can't deny.

I'm pleased to see BMW is back on the right design path. I really like this model! I hope they will create an all-electric version to compete with the Tesla Model S Plaid, built on a dedicated EV platform.
At 2.5 tonnes, i'd set aside a small fortune budget for tyres.

Executive types who want and can afford this car will love this even if the hardcore "it's not a M car" lot don't
It's a damn shame they retained the original rear door panels. The widebody crease on the rear wheel arches scream cost cutting like no other. They did the same thing with the G80/G81 M3 (Touring).
With the current pace of heavy weight cars you might consider a lorry license to be just ready for what's next.
Btw, BMW. I'd happily replace any automotive designer that's currently employed at your design studio. I don't need to get paid for it either.
They hyped it so much, I hope gta 6 isn't a disappointment like this.

I have mixed feelings about the grille design. The 2025 BMW M5 seems like a good choice, but its grille design reminds me of those GTA cars that seem to avoid copyright infringement.
plug-in hybrid is such a lazy implementation. high performance cars like this need to be either strictly ICE or strictly EV, no in-between because plug-in hybrid's battery pack is so tiny that you'll run out of electric "juice" in a single 20-mile trip (discount that by half if any uphill climb is involved), then once the battery is depleted, you're essentially stuck with that dead weight until the next charge session.
they added electric motors to add HP to the v8, but add so much weight that it pretty much negates it, while ruining the handling. hustling backwards. The f90 was a legit supercar slayer but this is just not. I would have been happier with just the v8 by itself even if it came out to only 530 hp

To be honest BMW died a long time ago when they stopped producing the E46, E38 and E39. By that time, BMW had gained popularity and the kids who love the later models of BMW love the brand for what it has long since ceased to be. Only yuppies buy BMWs. The reason is simple because 20+ years ago BMW ran away from automatic transmissions and turbo petrol engines like the devil runs away from the cross. Anyone who pays for cars that aren't a Ferrari, Lambo or Porsche 911 (GT models, S/V, Sport Classic) is just an idiot for whom money means nothing.

@@Neojhun bro its already been debunked that the last gen is faster than the current upcoming. The new gen is 600 KG heavier, 0-60 times is slower, and its not as nimble as the last gen. Do some research first.

the front end I think I will end up really liking at some point, though I wouldn't say I *like* like it just yet. Definitely not a fan of the rear though. Pretty horrible IMO. But it seems that most M cars I initially hate, and then they grow on me pretty significantly. I hated the most recent M3, but I love it now. But the weight is a shame... I hope it's got some clever tricks up its sleeve to mask it. Looking forward to the first test drives

You know what, BMW are going so hard into this brutalist monstrous aesthetic, in starting to appreciate it. Don't want to own one, but a very villainous and evil looking car, as though its greed and corruption is grown out of its own control.
A BMW M5 that can double as a company car and get you the best parking spaces in UK car parks? What's not to love. Most people complaining have probably never owned and probably will never own an M5 anyway and, if they do, they're unlikely to race them on track so won't notice any real difference in performance. Besides, we'll have to wait and see whether the acceleration is really .2 seconds slower or whether BMW is being strategic with the claimed figures.
