Never been a massive fan of the 7 series but this has hands down changed the interior game! Love the classy touches and the screen at the back, most definitely would consider one
I think that if the previous beautiful 7 series cars didn't exist then this would be OK. I loved when every item on BMWs and Mercedeses had a purpose, now they just keep adding toys screens and bling and highly patterned leather in the seats and Las Vegasy lights and touches to keep their buyers from getting bored. It is a business after all and it's working for them.
Love the tech in new cars, but I wonder how long it will last before it needs endless trips to the dealer for expensive diagnostic fault finding. Then huge bills for new tyre pressure modules etc. Well made electronics can last decades, but will they use quality stuff that lasts past the warranty period?
Most likely not. Depending on the brand but they all started using as cheap as possible and charge more for their products. Especially cars after covid are not put together as well as before.
@@TermlessHGW Its a shame as they will end up in scrapyards. I like to look after my vehicles and keep them, getting too hard to fix them now as you need specialist equipment to access the ECU to run the diagnostics. The old scan tools just wont work. Not great for the environment loads of cars being dumped after only a few years, then a load more resources needed to make a new one. When a car company decides to charge a subscription for heated seats you know things are going downhill.
The interior seems impressive on the surface. Personally I find it too blingy and if recent BMWs are any indication, half of it won't be working in 10 years time.
I saw one in the flesh the other day and it isn’t bad at all. It has presence and looks different. If you want something normal and boring looking, then get an A8. I think it will grow on people like the Chris Bangle 7 series did from back in the days. I really hate EVs of any sort but as a BMW fan, I can make a small exception. I would have a 7 series over an S class and A8. I think it’s great.
Exactly. I absolutely have zero interest in the A8. S Class is alright. The 7 Series, however, actually looks awesome. Much more interesting and looks like the designers actually cared to make it stand out.
I had been expecting this car but I was really disappointed when the official images were released After taking a look of the real thing, I fell in love with this car This car is big and has great presence, it feels and looks like Rolls Royce Ghost but with more high-tech
I think the new 7 series definitely looks awkward in lighter colours, but my god, in the right colourway it's stunning. BMW has done a lot in recent years to push the status quo on design, love it or hate it at least they're trying
I can't deal with the front, but the profile is way sharper than the blob-like EQS and actually looks like a luxury saloon. Just put the damn buttons back, even capacitive buttons aren't good enough! I'm hoping the next 5 series/i5 will have a more conservative and restrained version of this design.
It’s a big departure from the previous generation (G12) and I hated it when it debuted, but in person and in black it has a very nice road presence. Plus the interior is gorgeous. I still prefer the G12 however, especially in Alpina B7 form
"I'm falling for the big grill design". Mate, you will fall through these every growing drains, if you are not careful. (BMW made it clear: China is the main market and they have a different perception of the brand there, less sporty) Thank you for this review! Keep up the great work.
In my opinion it feels like they have built it on a Rollce Royce Ghost and then slimmed it to make it a BMW. The tech is sufficient but it still falls behind the range offered on an S-class.
The most lovable thing about a Series 7 is the sensation depreciation. Even if you never intend on buying one, it's magnificent to watch the incredible loss of value.
I had an i7 drive up behind me the other day at a red light; absolutely massive. I was in an IX5 and it still felt like a looming giant behind me. You got to see it up front to appreciate it. It's definately not for the meek.
I guess I’m an oddball, because I love the aggressive look of the 7 Series. I’m also one of those that love the big grille on the 4 Series. Both great looking vehicles.
When you drive it who cares about the outside, at least it is different and noticeable. But what I find worrying is the lack of proper buttons for critical items like the hazard warning switch. Would not consider having one, too big, but wouldn't mind being chauffeured in one.
This is a perfect summary. I love the exterior for the reasons you mentioned and, either way, it's not really important. And, as you said, the lack of buttons is where the lssues lie.
Because it’s embarrassing. You might not see it but others do and they will have a good old chuckle at you whilst you have to see them amusing themself with this horrid thing
I have seen data sales of this brand new BMW. It is important that no matter how cutting edge the car, ugly design don't sell. Merc S-Class sold about 5 times more than this BMW.
In glacier white with silver chrome it's the way to go with this car. I don't like dark colors and all black finishes. It hides it shape and blends it in a square. But glacier white and silver chrome=❤
BMW had the music of the iconic sounding inline sixes from the 70s and 80s to draw from, instead of the Zimmer soundtrack...a missed opportunity in my opinion. In fact one should be able to choose from the most iconic engine sounds...
I’m living the nightmare. I actually HAVE this car. A year ago I was saving, NO WAY. Now I have it and yes. I love it because of the interior but no matter how hard I try face is goofy looking. The features are AMAZING ( and I have them all). I have used the theater ZERO times. My kids are grown, ain’t nobody back there. In retrospect it’s a car for people who can afford a driver . Not a working physician like me or anyone else who makes good money but has to get up and go to work.
No heads up display in the UK, so I won't be swapping my current BMW 7 series anytime soon. I much prefer physical buttons and dials which are easy to use whilst driving. No diesel or petrol only variant means this car is now £100k+ in all models which is very expensive. The Mercedes S Class looks a very good alternative
