Delilah, a little DIY ruffled curtain would look so cute beneath the sink !! Plain white, a pastel gingham, or a dainty floral pattern would look adorable :)
This episode is better than any recent HGTV show. Your calm narration showing this step by step journey without the usual “manufactured drama” associated with most HGTV productions is a breath of fresh air! Bravo to both of you. Looking forward to the next episode.
Agree! I despise the "manufactured drama"--often realtors or homeowners whining about a job taking too long. Like the contractor is going slow on purpose, ugh. Some things take time. Problems arise. It happens.
Kudos to Zack for ALL the labor, sanding and cutting and rewiring the electrical 🤯 Way beyond most people's skillset!! And WOW, your vision for the kitchen came out gorgeous Delilah! You and Zack remind me of Chip & Joanna Gaines 😄 You're the architect of the design and Zack is the one working it out 😄
the butcher block being darker than the cabinets is honestly my favorite part of the whole reno. i think the contrast looks amazing. also your reno is the only one i have been able to watch entirely without skipping through! you explained the process so thoroughly yet simply and you guys did such a professional job. looks amazing and well worth the wait!
You are so blessed to have a husband that can do all this stuff and a garage to be able to do it, would love to try my hand at this sort of thing but with no garage and no space to do it just not possible
Okay seriously, everyone has already said it but your editing and video style is incredible! You have grown so much over the past few years and it shows! Where is that mauve dress from (the one you're wearing in your sitdown portion?)
The editing, the clips, you talking…. everything was just absolute perfection. You have evolved so much and it shows. Love, love, love this types of videos from you❤️
ooooh not been this early before I wanted to suggest with watching old videos of you saying you're not sure what your purpose is on YT, but you have been someone who introduced me to being intentional and taking in each moment as a gift so would love more insight from you on this topic x You're amazing and are doing great things please take time to be proud of yourself and the impact you have. With respect and gratitude, from the UK 🇬🇧 x
How incredibly organized the way the two of you tackle this job......and how satisfying to see both of you work while I sit comfortably in a lazy chair watching my computerscreen.
It's wonderful being married to a Tradie. I take it Zach is an Electrician. I married an Electrician and my father also an Electrician by trade. We have saved so much over the last 52 years, not having to hire any tradies. My husband's apprenticeship was in the days when they learnt plumbing, etc. Great job Zach. The kitchen was well worth the time, money and effort.
I have painted several sets of cabinets plus one set that I sanded down and restained a different color. I never understood people ripping out perfectly good wooden cabinets, especially since newer ones are usually not built as well. Great job.
Okay so this is a non traditional question (obviously not everyone prefers to share this info: for these videos on renovation, it would be fascinating to hear how much each video made to help pay towards the total cost. Those are videos that I know many people LOVE to see. Great job!
The whole time I was watching, I was thinking about when Zach said (early on), "I don't really know what I'm doing." What a humble guy, lol. His knowledge and attention to detail is *thumbs up.* But it's also inspiring that anyone could teach themselves to do this stuff. My dad did, my brother did, and I'm relatively handy myself. When it's your own home you want to get it right, even if you make some mistakes along the way. I guess another point is to realize your limitations and hire a professional when you need to. I'm going to do an interim upgrade of my own kitchen so I watched your process carefully. My current job is to paint my cabinets, which are already painted. The previous owner painted them w latex, so now the paint is scratching away around the door handles. And I'm assuming that the "faster, easier way" to remove cabinet doors has to do with the hinges you have--mine are completely old school. At least my doors are flat on the front--very midcentury. I guess I'll have to strip off the old paint; I'm dreading it. And I am really dreading painting the casework. Even if I sand it...I will have to take extreme measures to keep dust off the dishes and whatnot. I have one question, are you guys concerned about water damaging the butcher block where the faucet comes out? Seems like there'll be a lot of water splashing around there.
I did something similar with my stained cabinets. I stripped a few doors and experimented with a light stain, but the coverage was terribly uneven. So we painted them Swiss Coffee and the walls a slightly creamier white. They look great as does yours. Great re-do!
🤩 wow your kitchen is coming along beautifully! I LOVE how the countertops tie in with the wood detailing of all of your windows. And as many others have mentioned I just want to show appreciation for what a great job you did in editing and producing this video. It felt like I was watching HGTV!
Yes! White appliances! My grandparents flipped houses long before it was trendy(read...they have lives with LOTS of different kitchens) and Grandma swears by white. They are easier to keep looking clean and don't end up looking dated as quickly. Love the "Phase One" update in your kitchen👍
Yes! Love it! Swiss coffee is my go to wall colour, too. The perfect warm white. I keep trying to convince my husband to let me paint our cabinets and replace our water damaged laminate counters with butcher block for the same reason as you. Our ultimate kitchen reno will be a whole new layout with new windows and ripping back to the exterior studs to add insulation. But that’s 10 years away. For now, let’s spend a couple thousand and have a decent kitchen to live in.
I just did butcher block for the same reasons you mention - it can definitely be a little overwhelming determining how exactly you want to seal/finish them, even if it's just a food safe oil. I finished ours and had to sand it all off and re-do it because my research wasn't thorough enough (even though I had done a lot!).
I love the fact that your house doesnt look perfect but yet beautiful. I am so tired of seeing TH-cam moms perfect perfect show room homes. Your vlogs are reasonable and realistic! That's what makes you relatable and fun to watch! We are a family of 2 (11 and almost 2 year old), plan on 4 kids and hopefully to buy our own home in 2-3 years.
Gorgeous! Turned out so stunning!! Random note…I think one or two floating shelves could look lovely on that open wall space above the peninsula! Aesthetic and function! 🥰
Beautiful kitchen! I went with butcher block, too. I am SO happy I did. I love them. But they do take more maintenance. And I think you chose the right color of butcher block! That rich warmth looks amazing. I have dark green cabinets so I went with ash butcher block which is very light to have that contrast. However, at my seams I went with the Lee Valley tools adjustable countertop connectors. Biscuits are great for alignment, and that’s about it, they don’t provide extra joint strength (you’d be better off with dowel or loose tenons) nor do they provide any clamping force to result in a perfectly tight joint. The counter connectors provide both. So if you ever have issues with your seams coming apart or moisture getting into it (even tightbond III), you may want to have them repaired and reconnected with counter connectors.
Looks so so good. You and Zach are so good at renos. I remember when you redid your kitchen in your last house, what a difference. I bet you just stop and stare at it sometimes, gorgeous! Well dome guys!!
I love watching these videos. Home renos are fascinating. It was wild watching the sink get pulled up. I always forget things have to be placed in a home before you move in lol.
The kitchen looks fabulous ! You guys did a great job. I'm still waiting to get my kitchen redone. After almost a year of waiting for materials ( countertops) to come from the manufacturing company and then get my cabinets painted I am beginning to get discouraged. It's so great that you two can work together to do these renovations...it's wonderful to have a partner that can dig in an do all the construction type jobs. It looks so much like what I am aiming for in my own kitchen. You should be very proud of yourselves. Enjoy your new kitchen !!
I’m SO impressed with the work you guys put in, the kitchen looks amazing!!😍 And the video, wow! Great job with the filming, edit & feeling. I loved this video, THANKS for sharing🥰
This looks so good! I love it so much! It looks like a whole new room. I have not heard someone else with my love for white appliances ( even dated ones) looking better than stainless steel.
Dream kitchen. I really hope to do something similar to our kitchen soon as well. We have the same yellow wood aaaand yea it’s just not cutting it. THANK YOU SO MUCH for the datailed video. Just what I wanted to see🩷
Love your new kitchen! It looks amazing. Always so impressed with the DIY. My mom just had the kitchen of her new house gutted and redone and it was ~150k - it definitely helps to know what you're doing yourself!! You guys are awesome.
I think the ceiling in the kitchen looks so amazing! I actually hadn’t paid much attention to it before but thought you added it when I saw the pictures on instagram because it looked so good. I think it really adds to the French cafe vibe!
You have such a talent for video and editing! You are very creative and viewing your vlogs is truly an enjoyable experience worthy of a professional job. Renos are hard, long and time consuming. It’s literally blood sweat and tears. Congratulations on all your hard work from baby William being chief supervisor, Eloise and Theo helping with demo, Zack being a jack-of-all-trade and wearing many hats and you for your creative design choices, painting and helping Zack wherever you could. You will look back with so much pride after it’s all done! Looking forward to part 2!! 🏡🛠🤩👏🏻
Came here to say you had me hooked the whole time watching! My style is very similar and we are currently replacing floors and I’ve been brainstorming a kitchen design. Thank you for the inspiration! New subscriber for sure 🥰
Omg it looks amazing. Love the flooring and taking that display cabinet off really gave you a more open space. Love the countertops with the cream cabinets.
Love love your kitchen, bright airy with a touch of rustic flavour. Enjoy this beautiful kitchen, it is one I’m still dreaming off for me and my fam. 💕
Absolute masterpiece - both the kitchen and the video! You and Zach are so talented!! Someone else commented that you should do house flips - I'm sure you would be excellent at that!
A production crew with 20 people could not have made this video look any better. You did such a good job. And the kitchen is absolutely stunning!
Agreed!!
100%
Yes, but please make the very very last portion of before and after slower in the next one
Agreeee!!!!!!!
OMG YOUR VIDEO LITERALLY LOOKS LIKE A TV SHOW!! The production is so nice!! 💗
😭 thank you!
Was about to say this. You’re amazing Delilah!
AGREED AMAZING QUALITY
Came here to say this
@@crystalellegood6186 don't forget Zach! Definitely a joint effort - they're both amazing. 😁
Delilah, a little DIY ruffled curtain would look so cute beneath the sink !! Plain white, a pastel gingham, or a dainty floral pattern would look adorable :)
Yessss!! Such an easy DIY project too
I believe she posted on her instagram that she was planning on doing that but she isn’t adept in sewing so she was looking into getting some help.
@@kaylaborg4531 that's easy just find a curtain style you like and cut it use no sew glue or strip to hide where you cut the curtain to size 😄

GUYS
The videography.
The editing.
The KITCHEN!?
So much good information about home renovations, and so beautifully presented!
Seriously. So good.
You are so blessed to have a husband that can do all this stuff and a garage to be able to do it, would love to try my hand at this sort of thing but with no garage and no space to do it just not possible
Love how you both use your strengths to pull off projects like this; kitchen looks beautiful!
My hat is off to you doing a major reno like this WITH 3 SMALL KIDS!
I freaking love this type of videos from you!!!!
From editing skills to your talk part! I love it!!! Good job 💙
Okay seriously, everyone has already said it but your editing and video style is incredible! You have grown so much over the past few years and it shows! Where is that mauve dress from (the one you're wearing in your sitdown portion?)
Thank you! The dress is from a local shop that’s no longer in business unfortunately 😔
@@LoeppkysLife the colour looks radiant on you, Delilah😊

This is the MOST REAL diy video I’ve ever seen. Thank you for your honesty on the work and time that goes into a Reno!
How incredibly organized the way the two of you tackle this job......and how satisfying to see both of you work while I sit comfortably in a lazy chair watching my computerscreen.
As you hand painted the microwave cabinet all I could think was, wow, the power of paint!
I'm going to state this again: I LOVE this type of videos from you!
Shotout to Zach for his absolute 5 star work on this kitchen!
16:40 is someone else seeing this too: the hanging kitchen doors look just like the doors from the movie Monster inc. 🤣
That’s exactly what I was thinking 😂

Okay the editing is just soooooo fun! So much footage and music and all the things! Well done on both the video and especially that kitchennnnn 🤩👏
Love this style of video x could be a Netflix series
8 minutes in and I'm loving the music. Can only remember Will dancing lol
Zach is just amazing with all the work he does, so young but so handy. Great job!
Pretty sure that was both an effective AND efficient way to paint your cupboards!!
I have painted several sets of cabinets plus one set that I sanded down and restained a different color. I never understood people ripping out perfectly good wooden cabinets, especially since newer ones are usually not built as well. Great job.

A Zach of all trades 😅
Zach is so talented at DIYs! You did an amazing job!
I LOVE butcher block counter tops with white cabinets! It’s beautiful and homey!😍
