That cool steel enamel sink had a lot of character, as did some of the original slab cabinets with copper hinges. Now it looks like every all-white overlay cabinet/subway tile kitchen you see in every flip house... which are already going out of style. At least they saved the floor.
I couldn't help but chuckle at the buy Sh*tty homes get perks. I've owned three homes and getting ready for my 4th. The first was built in 1945, 2nd 2003 and third 1989. The one I'm looking at now was built in 1952. I have to say, while it's a gut job in some areas the older homes by far were built better. Keep up the good work. This kitchen is very much like the one I'm going into.
Thanks so much for checking us out! We agree totally about the old homes, gutting a 1919 house right now and it’s so much harder trying to demo anything compared to a newer house.
I really like that the cabinets go all the way to the ceiling. And the white on white is in right now. Very clean and love the countertops! Can't believe you got so lucky with those floors too! Oh... I guess I loved all of it!

Ikea cabinets are very good and good for a budget, with some diy you can give the custom look, and double sink is always a great eye catch. One feature that always get my eyes on it is range fit in, without the rear part, or a cooktop. But the kitchen looks wow, really clean and crisp.
ikea cabinets have their downfalls. They have the metal bar at the top of base cabinets instead of a solid partition which doesn't support counters well.
This kitchen is a bigger version of my kitchen when I first moved into my 1949 house. I did some changes about 15 years ago but now I am embarking on the biggest renovation I’ve ever done. I’m knocking down walls and everything! I’m praying there’s wood underneath all my tile too! Fingers crossed.
@@Accountdeactivated_1986 The walls in my house were actually taking away valuable space. I don't believe knocking down walls is always the solution, but it was for my space.
Okay but that old precast whole counter sink basin was a legimate BEAST. You are wayyyy stronger than you look for picking that up all by your lonesome.

Will be doing renovations this summer and my kitchen is a big one. Completely have to gut it. We have appliances already, so that’s good. I have white cabinets and grey paint in my mind. Family thinks I’m crazy but o love that look. What color is on these walls? Do you think a white countertop with white subway tile would be too much white? Maybe a grey countertop? Loving the inspiration this video gave me.
Thanks so much for checking us out Rebecca! Be sure to subscribe for more. The paint color is “Moonshine” by Benjamin Moore. We love grey walls it’s our favorite color by far. White countertops would look amazing. If you are worried about too much white, you can break it up by using grey grout in the subway tile!

Nice job on the renovations. I couldn't help but get nostalgic about the memories that kitchen had created since 1948. Here's to new memories for the next 60 years in a great looking room.
well, I really like this, we have a kitchen that looks and "feels" the same way as that kitchen looked in the beginning. love the results. concrete countertop is wonderful too!
This kitchen remodel video proves that with creativity, resourcefulness, and a modest budget, you can turn an outdated space into a modern, functional, and aesthetically pleasing kitchen that stands the test of time.
I saw in another kitchen video that concrete is very hard to remove and you have to destroy the cabinets to remove it. Is this the case the way that you put them in?
No this is one of the great features of this system. Removal is similar to granite as the countertops are only held in place by a small bead of caulk and the weight of the concrete. You would need a a lift, or several people, to lift up the countertops but no need to destroy the cabinets.
watching y'all pull up that AWFUL tile... and seeing how beautiful the hardwood floor ended up, makes me wonder why anyone at any point would cover those??? Seems absolutely insane. Great work!
I can show you how to build the cabinets yourself. Need a planer, table saw and a couple of good sanders. Countertops would not be that much if you glued them up yourself, but you'll also need a lot of clamps (but these can be home-made if you're really, really cheap - like me :) ).
I prefer the before look shown here. I like retro kitchens, such as from the 40s. I like the green, and am painting my kitchen cabinets light green with chalk paint. They are currently painted white. I decorate with jadeite, and green and pink uranium/depression glass. I added ecru with fine metallic gold European lace curtains. It's a romantic look. The colors are soft, and the room feels spacious.

Maybe I missed it in the video, but I was wondering how long this whole process took??? Loved the white cabinets and that light fixture in the dining area!!! 🥰
Thank you so much for checking us out! We were renovating the house as a whole so the projects got completed at different times. But the demo took a weekend, the floors took a week. The cabinets a couple of weeks (had to wait on some pieces), a couple days for the countertops. So I hope that gives you an idea.
Great Job! I am remodeling our kitchen next year 2022 and I now know to use Concrete Countertop :-)
😁 They are our favorite!
Good luck with the renovation !

Thanks so much Susannah! That means a lot to here. And stay tuned for more!!!
Liked your voice there. I'm getting ready to do mine over since 32yrs now. Wish I had you guys come do mine too.
How much it run you
Absolutely beautiful and professional looking! Love the countertops...great video you guys.
Thank you so much!!!!
Nothing but respect for yall! That's a job very well done. What was the time frame on getting it done though?
Dang y’all gonna make me do my kitchen over. I’ve been thinking about knocking down the wall between the kitchen and formal dining to make an eat-in kitchen.
Go for it! (But Make sure it’s not load bearing haha)
Open plan is the one
Yeah make sure it isnt a supporting wall! I took mine down without checking before hand!🙈
The dude talking in his southern grandma accent ramblin’ bout canning some green beans made me an instant subscriber! 😂
Loved how y’all included the prices. Loved the before & after too! Super bright
Thank you so much Callie!!!
Great job on the reno, where did you guys source your cabinets?
Nice grout contrast for the subway tiles! I am planning on doing grey grout as well for my kitchenette :) The entire tile box was $15 👍🏼
Excellent video. I showed it to my class. They are learning about repairs and renovations.
Thank you 🙏
Love ALL of this! Beautiful work! New subscriber and I followed on the gram 😉💜
Awesome!!!! So glad to have you as part of the Flip Fam
I love this remodel! What color of paint did you guys use in the walls??

Hope you sold that cool old sink on FB Marketplace! People remodelling old farmhouses are looking for those!
We did! Unfortunately the cabinet base was rusted through but we gave the enamel top to a family that wanted to restore it.
I think smashing it with a sledge hammer would have answered that
This is great but it would have been nice to keep that original sink! I love them adds so much charm to a kitchen and they are so big
