    Daleliah. As someone who is also somewhat new to canning. Make sure you remove the bands before storing. The bands can keep a lid on that isn't properly sealed. Which and lead to good looking spoiled product.

    The raspberry jam makes great tea - Polish style ;) just jam and hot water, great remedy for colds, because raspberries keep you warm. I also do it with a squish of lemon and couple of slices of fresh ginger.

    Good job with your canning. I'm so happy for you. A little advice, never store your jars with the rings on them. You could have a false seal and wouldn't know because the ring forced the lid to stay on. We've had jars seal, and go to grab a jar a month or so longer and find that it didn't stay sealed. And always clean your jars after you can the food. It helps get anything that lays on the jar, then would turn to mold. I'd just wait until you gift them to put the rings back on. I LOVE sharing our canned goods. ❤
    Oh, not sure if you did this, but a splash of white vinegar in your water bath helps prevent water film.
    I'm so proud of you. Warms a mom's heart when we are able to provide homemade goods for our family.

    • @karleebrisbin1339
      @karleebrisbin1339 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Would the seal unpop if it's not sealed right? Or can it still be sealed incorrectly even if it doesn't pop with the rings on?

    • @minnamae25
      @minnamae25 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @karleebrisbin1339 it won't reseal of the ring isn't on it. But if the ring is left on, it could make the lid restick, but it wouldn't have a proper seal to preserve the food.
      Won't be fun popping open a jar, expecting something yummy, and having it spoiled and yucky and not even knowing until you pop the lid off. This happened to us when we first started to can, about 20 yrs ago. That's when we were told to take the rings off when we store them. Always right the date on your jars too.

    Thank you for acknowledging when things are hard or scary. They’re normal feelings but the internet tends to pretend everything is perfect, confidence is always high, and knowledge is always in abundance. So thanks for being so relatable while being so inspiring. Also I struggled to watch some of your videos as we faced secondary infertility for 3 years. I shared this in the past and am blessed with a miracle baby due summer.

    I love this back and forth kitchen video! Reminds me so much of my mom when we were growing up. She grew most of our produce in the garden and small field behind our house, and when it was harvested she would spend all week like this in the kitchen, such sweet memories!

    Just a safety tip, when you are removing your jars from the canner, just lift them straight out and onto the counter. I know its tempting to want to tip it to pour the water off of the top of the lid but since they aren't sealed yet it can cause food to get between the lid and jar. ❤

    Hi Delilah, first of all thank you for another fantastic video. I appreciate you so much!
    I wanted to ask if you could talk a little more about your experience dealing with Mom rage and when motherhood feels hard.
    You inspire me so much to be a better mom, but I currently struggle with loving my motherhood journey. It's been hard and I'm not the mother I want to be.
    You spoke about it briefly in another video but I'd appreciate listening to your thoughts on this topic more in depth, specially how you worked your way out of the Mom rage.
    Thank you and may Our Gracious Lord keep blessing your ministry and your family ❤.

    Amazing job with the canning! The colour of your apple butter looks great :).
    Just a word of safety, you should remove the rings on your canned goods. Leaving the rings on can cause what’s called a false seal, and meaning your delicious food you worked so hard on can go bad! :) so after your canning sits for 24 hours and has “popped” to show it’s sealed we remove them for long term storage!

    Amazing! I wanna try water bath canning. The same thing happened to me with homemade fruit roll ups! We also called them fruit chips and ate them up. They are good chopped up and sprinkled on salad for that sweet/savory vibe. Glad it wasn’t just me and I look forward to your tips when you achieve success!! I need ways to use up the fruit pulp I save from juicing.

    Years ago when we still lived in our house, we had an apple tree and every autumn I would also do a million things with the apples. I did not can the apple sauce but just put it when cool into plastic containers and then into the freezer. It worked very well and was so much less work. When I wanted to use the sauce, I would just take out the container and defrost it. Nothing was spoiled.

    I am always surprised with all the methods of making preserves, especially the fruity ones. My family just pours hot jams and juices into jars (warmed up with a splash of boiling water). Then we twist them, put them upside down until they cool down completely, and all the tops are "sucked-in". We rarely get an unsealed dud, but whenever we do, we just eat it straight away. They stay properly sealed for years. I think it's amazing that there are so many ways to prepare stuff for pantry ❤

      I was about to comment and saw yours! In France that is how we do it for anything that’s hot enough/sugary enough! Jams really don’t need to go through a canning process, as long as the jars (and their lids) are sterilised indeed with boiling water before pouring. I use this method for soup as well, so convenient, I just pour it while it is still boiling hot! So much easier :)

    • @silviamagda
      @silviamagda หลายเดือนก่อน

      @yse.papalia i use it for soups too. And when they are cold, i stick them in the fridge. Cream soups, broth, stock.

    • @sheimi91
      @sheimi91 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@silviamagda we do the same thing! Some stews and sauces too. However, maybe you can answer a question. My grandma tells me that if the soup has chunks of meat in it, you have to eat it within a week anyway, but if you strain it it can stay in the fridge as long as six months. Have you ever had any issue with that? Or is it just my Nan who's really worried about ingesting spoiled food? 🤔

    The recipe for apple butter that i use doesn't use as much sugar and it calls for apple cider. It's so delicious. We pick apples off random trees because they grow in abundance where we live. We have our most favorite tree's. Apple Cider, applesauce, apple pie, apple everything. ❤❤❤❤
    If you find a delicious apple, when making applesauce, you shouldn't have to add anything to it. It's why it's our most favorite canned fruit sauce. ❤❤
