I would agree that the Labrador and golden retriever are the friendliest dogs, but I'm also glad you mentioned shelter dogs. Sometimes it's a question of who rescued who!

The lab/Shepherd mix is a GREAT hybrid: good instincts to protect, WITHOUT the higher anxiety and over-protectiveness pute bred GSDs are so often known for.

I know i am probably gonna make some people mad here, but why pay hundreds of enabling money to countless breeders? Dont get me wrong some breeders are very professional, however several i have seen were mills. I mean no disrespect to the non mills. But several hundreds of dogs and cats get put down every day. This thought makes me cry tears of shame due to human greed.

While I do appreciate the effort some breeders put into bettering their breeds, I tend to agree with you. Quality over quantity should be their motto.

My dog is a beagle wiener dog mix and he cuddles SOOOOOOO much and is ALWAYS under the covers and right up against my chest every single night. I don’t know what I’ll do without him. He’s the sweetest most cuddly dog in the world.
I love labs and think they are number one but golden retrievers are basically longhaired labs so it makes since. Shelter dogs are also inspiring and its great you mention them! A dogs gratefulness and love is amazing either pure bred or shelter mutt. Sometimes mutts are the most loving and grateful of all. Dogs always give back love ten fold!

Years ago we had a lab-collie mix, runt of the litter with a beautful soul full of love. She was with us for 15yrs and i miss her every day.

Feddy Teddy Pits can be wonderful! They absolutely must be socialized and never forget that even with breed tendencies, each doggo is an individual.
@@rogerigez21 If you bothered to do actual research on the breed, you would know that pit bulls are very people oriented dogs. They're outgoing, playful, and friendly. They were never bred to be wary or suspicious of strangers. They actually make bad guard dogs because of this (this was stated by the American Kennel Club). I mean, if you get a dog and just leave it chained up outside and don't put in the time and effort into socializing it then yeah, it probably will have some behavioral problems. That's to be expected with any breed, and the irresponsible owner should be blamed, not the dog.
@@arthurshat7793 Very true. Although pit bulls aren't more likely to be human aggressive, they can sometimes be more prone to dog aggression. They also have a high prey drive (like many other breeds) so it's also important to socialize them with small animals. And like you said, each dog is its own individual. Some pit bulls get along great with other dogs and small animals such as cats. It just depends on the dog's tempermant and personality.
I was fortunate to get a golden mix pound puppy who has been with me 10+ years! Best decision I ever made was adopting him!

My dog was half Chihuahua and half Maltese (Malchi) and she was beautiful! Also friendly with every human and every dog she met. She stole their hearts too :3
My dog is half Chihuahua \ dachshund. He is very affectionate, but he is not friendly with anybody smh....
I love dogs . But among all dog breads I love Golden Retriever the most . Here in India , Golden Retrievers are famous too. In my locality there are there 3 goldes .

@@andyg445 There's also a factor that, unlike with dogs that are known to possibly be dangerous, owners of gentle breeds like retrievers will tell others, including their children, "Go ahead, pull his ears. Do anything you want to him. He won't mind." In fact, TH-cam is full of videos of kids hitting retrievers, and the dogs remaining passive.
Just like you wouldn't, no animal will put up with that sort of abuse forever, no matter how gentle it is.

My French Mastiff/Rottweiler mix was the biggest sweetest cuddle bug. She was also a total social butterfly. Everyone in our neighborhood knew & loved Lucy. Now I have a Frenchie & he is super sweet & cuddly too!

Thank you for making shelter dogs No. 1. I found my Magic, a dachshund/chihuahua mix, in a shelter 10 years ago and she is as loving as they come.
All 3 of my dogs and both my cats are rescues. In my opinion, shelters are the first place one should look.
Mini $chnauzers. My little girl is a rescue and well trained support dog. But also doberman Pincers are terrific dogs. Very family oriented and a super loveing dog. Great footwarmer and super companion.
My lab mix and my other dog who was a staffy shepherd mix were so loving and my staffy especially LOVED kids of all sizes.
I had a Shi-Poo that lived to be 17. Very affectionate dog, great personality, more than a little stubborn, great watchdog. Man, I miss that dog.

I just lost my queen, a 15 yr old Bichon Poodle mix we’d adopted as a senior. She was supposed to be my kids since she’s severely allergic to fur, but she kind of became mine bc she gravitated towards me bc I didn’t pick her up and try to force her to cuddle. She was affectionate in her own way and the depth of her love and devotion to me solidified her dominance of my heart. I think she saw my kid as her puppy she had to affectionately tolerate the way mama dogs tolerate their puppies biting their tails. I’d been looking for a 2nd dog before she suddenly became ill and passed, so my daughter could have a dog that she could do more with. Also bc I would be happy with a house full of animals. After she passed the lack of clicking claws has become deafening, and not having a pup losing their mind when I walk through the door makes me feel lonely and sad. I dont want to replace her bc she will forever be my little queen. The most rotten of the rotten. But looking through the hypoallergenic dogs in pet adoption services I stubbled across a Brussels Griffin mix puppy. I was immediately drawn in by how adorable she was. Without the silly cut that makes them like like they have a beard, they’re ridiculously cute. I wanted to look the breed up bc my kid is desperate for a snuggler. (Im def not opposed to a snuggly pup.) I’m glad to see they seem like exactly the breed I’m looking for. Unfortunately her rescues adoption fee is way out of my price range at $850 (especially since I still owe $ for my little queen’s vet bills) but I’m totally keeping my eye out for Griffon’s & Griffon mix’s. Though I wish we could have a pittie or pittie mix since they’re such ridiculously goofy love bugs. I want one of the smaller low riders that look like a dog mixed with a piglet. Our yard while not small isn’t big enough for a large dog and bc I’m chronically clumsy and fell down some stairs years ago, my back is all jacked up and I can’t walk for long periods of time. So I need a small dog. I just wish my little old lady was still here. She loves being the queen of a pack. We lived with my sisters standard poodle while I was dealing with some stupid syndrome that sometimes happens when you have back surgery. She was his leader and when we moved she mourned him. That was another huge reason I wanted another dog, to make her happy. We had a kind of joint custody arrangement with my sister’s poodle (I helped raise him from 12 weeks old and nursed him through a bought of parvoviruses that afflicted him and the rest of his litter mates at the rescue.) When he’d come over my lady would get so sassy and perky. I wanted her to have that back. I miss her so much. Hopefully I’ll find an amazing dog for me and my kid that will help soothe the jagged edges of the hole her passing left in my heart. But I’m a four fan of mutts. I never wanted a “breed” bc mutts are just as amazing. Plus they tend to not have the health problems that come from the inbreeding that many breeds have.

I have a Beagle/Aussie Cattledog. He is a very alert dog that loves to run,sniff out rodents and play with other dogs that don't play too rough with him,he won't put up with it. In the house he's great,he calms right down and wants to be a lap dog. He might be a Shelter Mutt? That's just what they think he's mixed with. He's a little bit big to be a lapdog he's 33.lbs. Sometimes he tries to herd me to the front door. Especially if I say The Park or Petco.🐕🙂 He really turned out to be a wonderful dog. I adopted him about a year ago. It was a rocky start but after Training classes at Petco. He made a complete turnaround. The shelter said he was a problem dog. He didn't bite anyone he was just terrified of alot of things and men. I take him everywhere and he is doing great.

I have had a Labrador, golden retriever, Vizsla, chow chow and Great Danes. By far my Great Danes have been my most affectionate, loving, loyal dogs I have ever had. I will furever. have a Great Dane in my home til The day I die.

Kudos for mentioning the shelter mutt. I've had purebred dogs and I've had mutts and even if I've loved all my purebred dogs, the mutts are often smarter (and thus better behaved), and they get sick less often because their genepool is more diverse. They're wonderful dogs and I've never loved them less because they're not a specific breed. Right now I own a yellow lab and a mutt and both are really great dogs.

All of my dogs are rescues with the exception of our Corgi, and he was free because he’s blind in one eye. I also have a mixed chihuahua, who is attached to my hip. I’ve had/loved a Collie, terriers, and several mutts; however, I have yet to find a dog as loving as my Corgi. I will continue adopting shelter dogs, but I am so attached to my Corgi, I will likely always have one in the future because he’s such a love bug!!

their are so many sweet dogs out there. It must have been difficult to compile a list of only 10 with such fierce competition.
Yes, it's very hard when I have to leave a breed off for the sake of brevity. But, it does help get more comments. Because there are so many people who comment I left their favorite dogs off the list. But, Ido try to keep up with how many comments different breeds are getting to add them to future lists.

Good idea. I've done easiest to train, but not smartest (at least I don't remember that I did). The problem is that the smartest don't always make the best pets. They tend to be willful and try to outsmart their owners.
@@AnimalFacts My best friend has owned poodles all her life and trained them with great success. They work remarkably well, even when willful with a good trainer. Her last couple have been incredibly service dogs.

Why would anyone think they are mean ? They have just been known to rip faces off of kids and maul people to death.
@@dj_1969 You can blame backyard breeders and dog fighters for this, not the dogs. Pit bulls are the most abused dog this country has ever had. They need our help, not our condemnation. For the most part they are sweet, loyal and protective dogs. And so many have been ripped to shreds in the fighting rings. Have some compassion for them.
@@laurawilloughby4000 Backyard breeders have over bred all sorts of breeds, just as "bad owners," have mistreated all the breeds. That doesn't explain why 66% of human deaths by dogs are Pit Bulls. Only, "for the most part" doesn't get it when a child dies such a horrible death. They don't need our help they need to be sterilized until they die out. It was man's mistake to breed this animal and it's our duty to stop it.

11 years ago,my son came home with a bundle of fluff (almost pure bred Malamute). I was soooo angry! Why? Because I KNEW he would leave home (happened 1 year after bringing it home) and I would get "stuck" with the dog (and completely fall in love with it). I love how he talks to me all of the time and thinks that his 50Kg body can still sit on my lap. I don't know what I will do when the inevitable happens. I just keep hoping that it will still be at least another 11 years away

What about Beagles?! Their friendly nature is literally the reason they're being used for animal testing.
I don't think this is the main factor, although it may contribute. The deciding factor is that Beagles have a very strong pack mentality, so when you keep a pack of them together in a kennel they are pretty much happy with it, which means they are not overly dependent on human love and attention for their well-being (as opposed to Labradors/Golden Retrievers).
Obviously they still like human attention and need it, but it's way less than other dogs - as long as the Beagle has a pack.
(That's what's been explained to me at least. We have Beagles in our university lab where I work.)
i have a part Shizu and part terrier dog. she is very obedient, and loving. i recommend this puppy for the elderly. they are calm, and loving.

I rescued a part Chihuahua. To say she is glued to me is close to the truth. Like most rescues who have not been retrained, she has issues. Since the shelter fosters most of their small young dogs for adoption and did not her, I feel that she may have more issues than most. We are working at them a little at a time and make some progress each year. There is no time line and I am just trying to make her happier for the most part, there is no deadline.
You forgot the boxer. I have had 2 American and one Big Mac boxer and they are the most loving, affectionate dogs on the planet.

Dobermans are called Velcro dogs for a reason. Mine almost never leaves my side. He “cries” if he is left on the other side of a door. He absolutely adores his family. My first Dobe was the same. They get a bad wrap for being scary but they are just big babies.
When ears aren't cut to stand up, people don't see scary. Mr. Doberman was a very smart breeder.
Brussels griffon was probably the inspiration for chewbacca
George Lucas owned and adored Brussels Griffons so many of his characters were modelled after them. They are the best breed!
