      I had a Brazilian Mastiff (Fila Brasiliero) who weighed in at 160lbs. I kept him as an indoor dog, only going outside with me or sometimes left outside when I left for a few hours. He slept on a twin mattress right beside my bed (which I had to make tall so he wouldn't climb up), and yeah, he followed me room to room, even preferring to lie on the tile floor next to my feet than his futon (only furniture he was allowed on). He was very protective and would lunge at anyone who came too close to me. But, big dogs don't last long. I only had him for 9 yrs before bone cancer. Love of my life.

    I will always have a Boxer in my life! My old girl is almost 12 years old and has been by my side through thick and thin for the last 8 years! She was a rescue, the man that had her would lock her in a crate for 16 hours a day then beat her when she would tinklenon herself. The 1st photo i saw for her was a pic of this skinny sad dog chained to a tree. Her head looked too big for her body she was so thin. I brought her home and she hasnt seen the inside of a crate since! She goes EVERYWHERE with me.

    There is no dog breed more velcro than the border collie. Try leaving a room in your house without them noticing. Bred to herd, it has no intention of letting you out of its sight. Ever.

      Yes I can attest to that. I've had border collies for 25 years and each and every one of them follow me everywhere. I love when I'm out on a walk with them, hiding behind a tree and seeing the absolute horror of not knowing where I am, they soon find me though. Best breed in the world imo. I will have at least one until the day I die.

    I was never a terrier person. My boyfriend surprised me with a Jack Russell. This little dog is so clingy, if I am walking and stop fast she smacks into me. She has to be touching me in some way or gets upset. She is very guardy of me to. So I went and got 2 more lol Now I got a pack of Klingons.

    I must say that out of all of the breeds I’ve owned, my Parson Jack Russell is the most Velcro dog of all, even more than my Chihuahua was. She has to follow me EVERYWHERE. She acts like she is guarding my back when I do dishes. Whatever part of the house I am in, she has to follow. I have to have a bed for her in every room. She had two beds at the foot of our bed.....one at my husband’s feet and one at my feet......she is the first dog that I have allowed in my bed. We are very attached to each other. And like someone else on here said, if I am walking down the hallway and stop suddenly, she runs into my leg. She is extremely protective of me. Love that dog!
    And as mentioned in this video, she does have a meltdown when anyone has to leave. She doesn’t bite me when I leave, but gets fretful......but sneaks up behind my husband and jumps up and bites the back of him when he is leaving. I’ve come back home when she didn’t know it, and caught her howling mournfully, looking out the living room window. Breaks my heart. She can be a feisty handful, but she’s also a sweety too. And what a ham! She makes me laugh.

    We have always had Dobermans and Boxers. They are both like Velcro, but if I had to decide which breed was more so. The title would have to go to the Dobermans. The Boxers can tolerate you leaving the room briefly. The Dobermans won't let you be more than two steps away at all times.
    And the Dobermans barricade the door with their body if they even suspect you may be leaving without them.

      This is what I want. They should do a video of "how to turn your puppy into a velcro dog"

    • @jdefabs2112
      @jdefabs2112 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@luz9893 some has to do with the dog, you want the puppy that is most attentive to you out of the litter not the sparky dominate one. You want to be a strong pack leader, if your dog trusts you he'll respect you and seek you approval/attention. Some breeds are much more prone, an English Mastiff will generally be more affectionate then a Kangal because mastiffs are bred to be family dogs where Kangals were bred to work more independently as livestock guardians, though they can also be very affectionate it's just more prominent for mastiffs to be, because of breed traits.

    • @jdefabs2112
      @jdefabs2112 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Bruce Holcomb that's not true. My Mastiff doesn't sleep in my bed, she goes for rides and walks obviously but our coon hound mix gets the same treatment and is far more independent and not at your side 24/7. Some dogs were bred specifically to be independent to work independently (livestock guardians/ hunting ) there is a difference between "territorial " and "projective " some breeds are in general more affectionate due to specific breeding/traits.

If you want a friend that alwayssss wants to be near you, always wants to snuggle up with you at night, who wants endless attention & love, and who always always always gets emotional when you leave for work, but are overcome with joy when you return home, a cocker spaniel is the dog for you. Oh yeah. I have a Long Hair Teacup Chihuahua Yorkshire Terrier cross and she is definitely a velcro dog, which is exactly what I want as her job is to be my Therapy Dog. We live in a generous bachelor apartment with a balcony and next door to a small parkett. At home she is always under foot but outside her nose takes over and everything besides me has to be sniffed. She has a ton of toys but absolutely loves my shoes and underwear best. Salty sweat and intimate pheromones are definitely at the top of her list as items to be tracked down, carried off and treasured if alternatively she's not actually licking my feet while I'm sitting on the toilet, something I do a lot of as a female senior, pee that is. Even in the middle of the night if I get up to use the bathroom three or more times then guaranteed she comes along too. Sniff, sniff, sniff that's her heart's delight.

    Our dogs no matter the breed or crossbreed have always been velcro pups.
    From Lady Beatrice (Bea), a rescue pedigree beagle and her daughter Honey, a Labrador/ beagle cross to Toby and Trixxe, brother and sister springer/standard poodle mix, our dogs have followed us everywhere. We rarely get a moment alone but we wouldn't change that for anything.
    Their sweet loving and trusting personalities have been a joy and privilege to have in our lives.

    I have the most Velcro dog of all, but he’s a mix breed. He’s half chihuahua and chinese crested powderpuff. I trained him to be my service dog and he is very loyal. He has always worn a coat, sweater or shirt, which he loves so he has an entire closet to himself. I buy the best designer coats for him from a company called Rororiri, they are beautiful and well designed and durable. He also has a collection of collars that are all rhinestone studded by bb Simon a different color collar to go with whatever he is going to wear for the day. You might think that is silly but the clothes soothe him as he can be very nervous and gets cold easily. He has never been left alone and he stays right by my side everywhere. He loves to be carried around and loved on and he has never nipped at me in fact he has the gentlest mouth of any dog, when I give him a treat he very gingerly takes it with just the tip of his front teeth. He doesn’t like to play with toys has no interest in balls but loves chew sticks and cookies. He sleeps under the covers right between my legs or at the top of my pillow. I was a Lyft driver for a year and he was on every ride. He’s the most loving dog ever and has never barked or made a sound when we are in public places, he goes to all my doctors appointments and therapy and church and sits quietly in whatever chair or spot I put him in and he never has me out of his sight. I will definitely have this breed again.

    I'll add a velcro dog--the Rat Terrier! You have the Jack Russell, which is quite close, but the Rat Terrier knows where you are at all times, and is cuddling or playing with you. I can't walk down the hall of my house without my Rat Terrier bumping her nose into my legs at every step.

    No seems to know about the Bullmastiff! And I didn't until we had our sweet girl either. She was 114lbs of lap dog love who thought she needed to go EVERYWHERE we went and always be close to either my husband or I. Historically trained to tackle but not bite, her instincts for protecting were to place herself by sitting or lying in front of us when strangers were around. She never barked until someone knocked at the door or approached the car. Her internal clock was impeccable...to the point she even would go to the bedroom door in our small apartment at bedtime, stand in front of the closed door, look at me, back at the door, then me, then the door and so on until I and my husband came to bed! And yes, it was usually when we were ready to turn in, I hate to admit it. So check into the Bullmastiff, very attached, highly intelligent, great protector, and many more amazing qualities-too many to list here!

    Pitbull, One of the best breeds I've ever had. Not just a velcro dog, but smart to a fault, but not distructive with little training & a little love. Most villlified breed ever (sad) yet the most useful & rounded companion, protector and working breed of all dog breeds in existence. The only other breed tyhat compares that i've been privialaged to have is the Rhodesian ridgeback. Much the same temperment , but female's though much smaller were very, very territorial making it hard with strangers or children. Not so with Pitbulls. In fact Pitbulls LOVE children & see them automatic playmates with the bonus of protective over them.

    I have Vizslas for 40 years now, and it’s true that they follow u everywhere in your house. U can’t get a glass of water without the Vizsla following u (except u train him if u r annoyed by that), but all of this dogs can be left alone at home. There are just dogs that need more activity, and those who are a bit lazy. So if u have a Vizsla Weimaraner pointer..... u have to plan more time with them or get a bulldog.

He was like a person sitting there. He even looked both ways at stop signs. Never boarded him he always went on any trips and we took many and often trips. In the summer when he had stay home when I shopped he had a chair at the front window where he waited for me. He was to big to fit my lap so he stood beside my recliner with his front legs and chest in my lap. Good thing I had queen size bed cause he took up most of my bed. When we would do pick up food they all knew him at the drive thur windows. Army post guards knew him too. Best dog I ever had. Yes owners can be to blame but when you’re getting a puppy and he’s showing dominance or fear aggression at 13 weeks it’s kinda hard to blame the owner

      Lane Johanson could be something genetic, how he was treated with his litter mates/breeders.
      If the only contact pups are getting with humans is a bowl of food and water put down, or were bullied by litter mates, having a bit of aggression now could be normal.
      It’s retraining the dog. 🤞🏻 it all works itself out.

      They have a little bit different personalities though. German Shorthaired are a little more independent and sort of do their own thing while Vizsla's are always wondering what you are doing. Weimers are sort of in between. For example my Vizsla won't let people eat without staring in their soul for the entire meal but the German Shorthaired that I took care of didn't care who was eating. I also had a Weimer and he'd care for a little bit but would give up.

I just never found any available and have always had hunting dogs around galore. If I wasn’t so old, I’d get a Vizsla. I’ll be abt 80 when my last pup gives up. Maybe I’ll find a rescue. We had to get him a girlfriend to keep him company. She’s a Cockerpoo and is very much a daddy’s girl, very protective over me. Out of our 3 dogs though, out Labradoodle is the most Velcro. She practically has a nervous breakdown if she is told to stay off the bed for 5 minutes! (My partner and I are mostly bed bound so that’s where we always are) we have to shut all 3 in a different room when we have someone visit like a doctor or social worker who needs to come close to us because they are so protective
