I like to think that they are up their waiting for us, watching what we do. That they wish they could snuggle up next to us. It is an amazing thing.
A large house, a lake and a forest nearby... and probably a juicy income but not everybody chooses to spend it on animals ; their children are lucky to be brought up in such a loving and generous environment :) .

I'm sorry that you were parted, but glad Duke got a great family. Now that you can have dogs again, you could potentially go to a shelter in search of Duke Jr... and by the way, congrats on the diploma!
I think one of the reasons that millions of people have watched this video is because there are many of us who don't have the love of a family. Sharing in the joy of this wonderful dog and this happy family brings us one step closer to knowing that familial love.
Honestly, saints are like that, they are gentle giants that love children, and protect their family. Mine was insanely gentle with children, and other small animals, even my cat. They really are big floffy lap dogs
Yeah that made zero sense and is typical Dodo nonsense. At the beginning they said a breeder surrendered him and based on how well-kept and generally well-bred he looked, I doubt this dog had much hardships in his life. And he's 100% comfortable in the home and with the kids. It's nice they adopted him but I hate the implied sob stories.

I walking in Manhattan one rainy day about 10 years ago. Outside a Banana Republic was a St. Bernard sitting placidly waiting for its owner. I walked up to pet him and he just stood on his hind legs and put both front paws over my shoulders, like, "Hug?"After petting him a for a couple minutes, I walked away and realized I was COVERED inhair! Small price to pay.
I grew up with St. Bernards and they are so loving. I am so glad he has a forever family. They are wonderful and the kids are so gentle with him. You could tell that the lady who was fostering Cosmo really loved him too. It would be so hard to foster a dog and have to give him or her up but they get them out of shelters and love them until they find their forever home and then helps another dog. I admire people who foster.
Not to many people would fly somewhere to pick up a dog and drive them home so thank you to your family for giving Cosmo a forever home. He looks so happy now👍 😄.
it was really sweet to see him lay down in front of the kids for the first meet, he did everything he could to not make them feel intimidated by his size and that he is glad to see them.
I cried watching this. Someone gave us ourr first St. BERNARD many years ago, because they didn't like him. If dogs go to heaven, George St Bernard Shaw the first will be there. I still miss him after almost 40 years. ❤❤❤

I like how when he starts getting petted, he rolls over for belly rubs.
very common for saints
my dog does that lol
@@kathylong9851 my Saint sleeps like that
Oh Saint Bernards. They’re like “you can pet me all you want but 99% has to be the belly”
My dog who passed away a few months ago would do the same thing....giant rot and she would walk up and as soon as you petted her she would flop down and roll over, just knowing she was ganna get a belly rub
St Bernard's are gentle loving giants, will always love them, miss my gentle monsters. Much love and respect
The general rule seems to be the bigger the dog, the bigger the heart.
We have had 3 saint benards and they were all different, one did not like kids. But these dogs are not for everyone. My sister got one because we were used to them, but you had to watch him closely, especially around kids.
They are pretty cute, the only downside I can see is the drool lol

I have had a similar experience with my st bernard. She was abused and neglected, we got her for free. It was great seeing the transformation from being nervous and scared all the time to acting like a real dog.
Did you face any difficulties with helping her considering her size? Got a mastiff, love large dogs, and hope to own equally large rescues in the future.
I am glad 😊 you made the dog happy and feel 😍🥰 loved. I can't imagine how much a big dog 🐶 eats.I am sure 😃 he makes you feel loved as well.
Had exactly the same experience with a 3 year old St Bernard. Neglected and way too thin - was amazing to see him become part of the family, put on the pounds and just enjoy life.
A highly intelligent dog and a true gentle giant.
Boy he could eat though - but worth every penny.
@@MichaelSmithAU what happened to it? My friend next door has 3 of them and they all have had seizures and things by like age 5, it’s terrible, but they are some of the best dogs. Is that genetic or just like due to their size? That’s what has always scared me about big dogs
@@Willyk200921 he lived a pretty normal life till about 12 from memory. I have heard of issues like what you describe which I also believe can happen more often through bad breeding (inbreeding, etc.). Not sure if this was the case with you neighbor's dogs or not.
I'll be getting another Bernard (or two) in the near future for sure. Hopefully won't have those issues, but they are such great dogs I can't resist. I'll try and review the breeding to minimize any issues.

Yeah it’s pretty simple when you don’t hate yourself and the decision you made to have children. It’s nice to see.
I had to give my saint bernard away when I was in highschool because the place we moved to didn't allow dogs. By the time I moved out it'd already been 4 years and the new family was so attached I couldnt bring myself to ask for him back. Luckily they're nice enough to send me update photos here and there. Miss you Duke!!!
Seriously, I lived on a farm as a child and we had a St. Bernard named Duke
Glad he went to a good home💜
😭
@Dawn taylor Well I apologize that it took me 4 years to go through highschool. Also that I lived under someone else's roof that established the rules while I was a minor.
I'm sorry that you were parted, but glad Duke got a great family. Now that you can have dogs again, you could potentially go to a shelter in search of Duke Jr... and by the way, congrats on the diploma!
he went “hello small human. yes you’re mine now. oo another!”
That’s exactly what my brain said!
Lol. Yes!
Yes he did! 😍😍
I watch a lot of dog rescue/adoption videos. This one really, really struck me. What a wonderful story.
I’m more impressed with raising kids loving and respectful of animals. Good job parents!
I bet you want a saint Bernard now.
Totally! 💜
I had 3 St.'s @ one time they are amazing dogs. They don't know how big they are. All mine were lap dogs & bed hogs
A saint is definitly on my list but after we have moved so I can make a proper grooming area for the longq coat. Because I would love a fluffy one❤❤❤
Nana Dawn i’ve seen a vid of a great dane that acted exactly like a tiny lap dog 😂 they truly have no idea just how huge they are
I’m finally getting one, in September or something (:
That story made me cry. I also adopted a St. Bernard just a couple months ago. She is 2 1/2 and we love her so
Jill Sanford have fun there such loving big sweethearts 🐶💚
I think one of the reasons that millions of people have watched this video is because there are many of us who don't have the love of a family. Sharing in the joy of this wonderful dog and this happy family brings us one step closer to knowing that familial love.
Cosmo seems really like a giant gentle boy...he bonds with the new family immediatly...am so happy that he finally is in a loving family!
Honestly, saints are like that, they are gentle giants that love children, and protect their family. Mine was insanely gentle with children, and other small animals, even my cat. They really are big floffy lap dogs

Emperør Black Røses what dog is it I wanna see in adopting one similar to cosmo

5:08 “He’s never really had a close relationship with humans”. The lady who cried because she had to say goodbye to him: Am I a joke to you?
Yeah, I don't get that, he was obviously loved and had a home.
I think she meant before that.
Yeah that made zero sense and is typical Dodo nonsense. At the beginning they said a breeder surrendered him and based on how well-kept and generally well-bred he looked, I doubt this dog had much hardships in his life. And he's 100% comfortable in the home and with the kids. It's nice they adopted him but I hate the implied sob stories.
maybe the people at an animal shelter missed him?
yeah dodo and adoption centres make up crap sob stories to get the dog adopted out quicker when usually a lot of the dogs aren’t abused etc
Animal Rescuers and Rehabilitators are amongst the most compassionate, understanding people in the world. They understand how to make that connection n heal a broken heart, even though they know tears will be shed on the day the forever parents arrive.
