  • Hello everyone, you are on the Tip Top channel and today we have everyone's favorite video about dogs! When it comes to talking about which of the animals is the kindest, most faithful and devoted, the answer suggests itself - these are dogs. It is not surprising that children and adults dream of such four-legged friends. It is enough to see how the dog meets the owner at the end of the day, and all doubts will disappear that dogs are the cutest creatures. In this issue, we will look at the kindest dog breeds that even families with children can safely start. Our top list will include Labrador Retriever, Newfoundland, Basset Hound, White Swiss Shepherd, Pug, Samoyed, St. Bernard, Border Collie, and Beagle.

I can’t believe you left out Golden Retrievers! The kindest, most loyal breed I’ve ever owned. Growing up, I had an Afghan Hound, Cocker Spaniel, and a Malamute. As an adult, we have Shelties (also, VERY loyal, and smart) Black Labs and Golden Retrievers. My kids have had Poms, Boxers, Aussies, etc. And hands down, out of ALL these breeds, it’s our Goldens that are the kindest and most loyal.

I once shared a cramped mountain hut with 12 people to shelter from bad weather. One couple had a nice, friendly, MASSIVE St. Bernard. Inexplicably in the middle of the night, it would get up and paw at one of the other occupants of our cabin and wake him up. This occurred several times. It turned out that he had sleep apnea and the dog got concerned when his breathing stopped. Amazing instinct.

I met a woman with a Corgie (I think) medical dog. She explained that something or another would lower something in her body, but her body would not inform her until it reached critical levels. The dog was trained to detect the imbalance early, and would bark to notify her. I didn't understand the condition or whatever that she had, but I was amazed, totally amazed, that her dog could pick up the imbalance early, and bark to let her know to take whatever pills she required. Must be some subtle change in muscle structure, or movement, or heartbeat, or something?

    • @agvella777
      @agvella777 ปีที่แล้ว +2

@@booboo8577 Your statement is the antithesis of the Samoyed. It most likely was not a purebred Samoyed (or a rare aberrant untrained dog not raised or acclimated to cats. ) Other dogs are oft confused with Samoyeds, like American Eskimos - smaller pointed snout, who can be snippy, or White Chows - who can have disposition problems.
I’m on 6-7 Sams in 50+ years. I got my first in college. I’m routinely around the breed at events for Northern Breed dogs. Samoyeds were bred in upper Siberia - traits bred for included close human companionship, (ie “3 dog night”) intelligent as working dogs - reindeer herders, sled pullers, family protectors, etc. Aggressive traits in close contact with humans was not a trait of this ancient breed.
I have a 5 pound Persian cat (10 years old) raised with my Sammy seniors who died not long ago & added my current two Sams. My prior Sams had a Maine Coon cat, as well as our Persian kitten - no harm. The cat was part of the pack in each instance. It sounds like whoever owned the “dog” did not acclimate the “dog.”
One of my boys is a rescue, he was never around cats & the other a puppy raised with the cat. I acclimated our rescue to our Persian over 6 months. Now - the cat is a pack member who sleeps & drinks water with the boys.
General dog information- Cats can be viewed as prey by dogs if not raised around the dog or around dogs. But, as I’ve shown - slow introduction can change that. But, that may not be possible with some breeds.
My dogs & cat have unsupervised run of our home. I trust Samoyeds with children, other dogs, & have never had one attack another animal or person. It’s not their personality- look at the breed standard or look at Samoyed group posts.
Children routinely come up to play with my dogs at parks. They pull their fur, and can be rough with them. Never once have my Sammys acted aggressive toward a child or baby or other dog - intelligence, kindness - they are perfect family dogs.
All my Sammys are/were “reactive” to aggressive dogs or people - not inclined toward initial aggression.

"She loved dressing up for special occasions like Christmas and Halloween."
It's wrong to think that animals "like to be dressed up". No dog likes to be dressed up as it's against their nature, it's not normal for them. They do so because they don't have a choice or say in what you do to or with them, they just obey or oblige to your commands or wishes. Humans on the other hand, love to dress up for different occasions.
Dogs will do a lot of things to please their owners, even if they can't tell you they don't like it.

We have 2 german shepard mixes. One is a rescue and a lot like your Chloe. She is a couch potato (enjoying having a couch of her own) and very attached to us. She is afraid of strangers but not fear aggressive. She is weird as she gets excited when we rarely dress her (dives her head into clothes). I think she connects looking cute in clothes with slightly more attention. Our other gsd-mix thinks that every new person and animal he meets is his new best friend.

Laid down on the sofa like he had never questioned for a moment that he couldn’t do it. Well we had to adopt him. Or he adopted us. He was a pleasure. Nothing bothered him ever. He didn’t know he couldn’t fit on your lap. He just calmly made the best of it. We both had to make room.

What we reveal here is that kindness, empathy and love are not reserved for just one dog breed alone. Dogs with the good fortune to grow up in households where they are truly loved, spoken to kindly, and cherished, ensures, also, that they will feel safe. Good for all of us who have known and celebrated such love! I'm sure we will all do our best to keep the memories of our furry companions alive and, also, to help protect animals that have not known family love.

My Boston Terrier has always been my "favorite little meanie"..
For those in who have never had a Boston Terrier in their lives: They're clever, quick little roughhousers who seem to think they're Pitbulls.. Even in her teens our Boston doesn't give the impressions she's slowed down any. We can see she has, because we know her very, very well.. People are always amazed by how old she actually is.
Bostons are *very* hard on toys (no,.. really) and they don't get tired of things easily. Destroying toys is their go to comfort.
Then my husband was diagnosed with cancer.. As he got more frail she's become gentler and really careful with him.. She still roughhouses with everyone else, but she lets my husband win, and clearly modifies how much she pulls and how heavily she shakes her head tugging etc. and shows the kind of careful behavior I never would have thought her capable of.. and it's clearly deliberate. Sometimes she will bring him literally all the toys she has, one by one and put them on the bed with him. She snuggles up, grooms etc. (And of course loves to be "clean up on isle four when food gets spilled lol!).. there is a gentleness to her
I've seen her react that way towards a scared young dog we puppy-sat for a night or two as well. The moment she realized the other little dog was *scared* she started crawling on her belly, bringing toys, literally trying to stuff them into the other doggie's mouth, and bring mouthfuls of kibble and drop it in front of the pup.
(Normally she will grab a towel or a sock, or a pillow etc. and drag it over to her kibble to "hide" it under a pile of items that are *totally* inconspicuous.. (and then guard it with her little life, "definitely nothing to see here, get away from my random pile, definitely no snacks under there, nope! Now GO.AWAY!")
She's never gone without, but it seems to make her happy to make little stashes like that. Her bringing food *to you* is unusual for her.. but she does it.
With the scared dog though, she deliberately *gave* her food, she brought it to the doggie.. and toys too, and she even grabbed a blanket and pulled it over the pupper.
    "I'll protect you!" Style.
They were playing together in no time. Like: "Here! See? I'm not scary. Have a snack, now let's play with toys!!! Play with me! Grrr! (Don't be scared! I'm faking! I'll totally let you win!) 🥰
She cares.. and it is absolutely amazing to see.. Golden retrievers are gentle sweet dogs. My first dog was a Golden, and she was amazing! They are gentle and sweet with everyone all of the time and love being that way. My Boston is *kind* because she understands empathy. She will *change her behavior deliberately* to make *you* more comfortable.. and that is kind of astonishing to me...

12 years working at a veterinarian's office and having dealt with several thousand dogs, I would consider myself a moderate expert on the temperament of the bulk of breeds. The kindest dogs tend to be the bigger dogs with a couple notable exceptions. I've seen 5 King Charles spaniels (medium/small dog) and they've always been eager to please. Samoyed is one of the sweetest dogs ever and they tend to love anyone and everything so i'll agree with that one. I've never met a mean golden retriever or Australian Shepard. Aussies tend to only listen to their master though so if you've got one bonded to you, you've got a good dog for their entire life. The groomer where I worked had an aussie that was so smart that she learned commands in 4 different languages and even hand commands. Took me about a year and a half before she finally started listening to me a little bit so I could take her out for a potty break.

You may want to read a book called "El Lobo" It is about a basque Shepherd who adopted a tourist couple.
The Basque Shepherd are related to the Australian Shepherd as their Basque human owners went to Australia to herd sheep down under. During the "Gold Rush" in California, sheep were imported to feed the miners and the dogs and humans came with the sheep. Since they came from Australia, they were renamed Australian Shepherds. They also have some English Shepherd bloodlines as well. I would say both those breeds are excellent pets for physically active people who interact with their dogs.

We have mostly had golden retrievers. They should be near the top of your list for this criteria.

@@zombiemolly9711 Yup. Unfortunately hart problems took my little friend away. Now I have a Swiss blanc, she is amazing despite her size, but not as soft and gentle as Cavalier.

You do know these traits can be from any breed, not just a specific one?
I've had different breeds with these traits and more.

    We’ve owned Labs for years.
Our current dog is a 115# Chocolate Lab.
He’s our gentle Giant. He LOVES almost Everyone.
We live 5 miles from town on a private road. We have neighbors who live at the end of the road and walk with their children to the school bus stop every morning. Joe (our dog) walks with the parents and kids to the bus stop. The school bus driver always lets Joe on the bus to say good morning to the kids, then they tell Joe to get off the bus so he can walk back home with our neighbors. Once they get to our house he runs up onto our covered deck and lays down.
He goes hiking with neighbors as well.

I've never met a single border collie that was as 'kind' as ANY of the several regular collies I've known. Regular collies may not be as smart but they have always been far more gentle and considerate IMO.

I have a Siberian Husky, German Shepard mix, but we think she has some wolf in her, because when we go hunting, she hunts too. Once she dragged an Elks head through the snow into our yard and presented it to us. She was so proud, wagging her tail and smiling, with her long tongue flip flopping about, and her face covered in animal gore. The icy blood trail from the elks neck being dragged lasted nearly all winter. And every neighbor eventually confessed that she had raided their smoke houses and their butchering sheds, over and over again. I love her so much, and I am so proud of her. What a loving, wonderful and loyal fierce beast of doom she is to those creatures she targets. And what a delightful companion and bringer of joy she is to me.

I have a rescue, he’s a Papillon. He was seven or eight years old really bad teeth. I now think he’s around 15=16 years old. His name is Buddy and he took to me immediately. He gets along with cats sort of that why I call him the grumpiest old man! ❤

I have a Beago (part Golden Retriever part Beagle). He is a very happy guy. He was attacked by a dog a year ago (in a dog park none the less) so he now is nervous around just about every noise. He is 10 yrs old so he doesn’t run around as much but he is still happy around people. He loves people and is great with small children.

As a long time dog rescuer, groomer and an expert behaviorist, it is a bit of an odd list, if not interesting. I noticed it seemed you were equating kindness with child friendly. It's true they can all be good with children, but choosing a breed known for jealousy and an intense herding dog probably wouldn't be top of my list, but hey I love all dogs so...
I agree with the comments about Golden Retrievers. This is by far and away the most solid breed of them all. Their temperaments and personalities make them highly adaptable and super friendly with everyone and everything. Another breed I like for solid friendly temperaments are Boxers. The Tigger of the dog world I always say although their bouncy nature may be be a little much for a small child even tho the worst they would do is accidentally knock a small child over and then overwhelm them with licking.

We have the sweetest, though very vocal, Bassett/Corgi mix, now 18 and a cancer survivor.. She used to escape by digging under the fence, then run away, following her nose, and we would finally catch ser when she went into a corner and/or treed or otherwise trapped a cat. Too smart for her own good. Knows and tells us when it's meal or snack time. Trained, but stubborn and independent.
