So cool a Mutt i your no.1 pick , i grew up with both id never be able to say a purebred is better nor worse it just boils down to what you want and how much your willing to slend !
If you are looking for a lazy dog, I recommend the #8 choice, the whippet. Ours entertains herself by throwing toys around, then she is more than happy to cuddle under blankets half on top her humans. She looks and acts like spinster aunt, hence her name Auntie Em. We adore her.
grew up with mutts and still have some of them at the countryside. they're heavily underrated as family dogs, and thank you for including them in your list
Very well done :) The mixed breed mutts are often left off these lists, which is too bad because they are just as good as any purebred dog as a member of the family. They often have less health issues as well. Always consider rescue before you buy a puppy folks. Your best friend is probably waiting for you at one.
I mean yeah I get why you'd want to rescue as I normally do that as well. I have had lots of issues with my rescues in the past but I also have a designer breed I got from a breeder. I saw her and immediately fell in love. She's a Sheltie Inu and having raised her she has none of the issues my others have had. She's amazing, happy, upbeat and does just the cutest things. Also she's soooo trusting. My last dog had issues going to the bathroom where she was supposed to and my other dog has PTSD, some behavioral issues and the same bathroom issues my last dog had but my dog I bought from a breeder and raised goes where she's supposed to and has no behavioral issues either. She always makes us smile and laugh and is everything I ever wanted in a dog. It really opened my eyes and it won't be the last dog I buy from a breeder.
I really want to adopt in the next month or so. But for some reason my applications don’t get approved 😔 I’m a new dog owner with an 8 year old child. Any advice? I really don’t want to go through a breeder
RA NailBar if I were you I’d get a puppy from a breeder because it will be enjoyable for your child and teach responsibility , it will be safest if trained right and if you have an 8 year old you likely have a lot on your hands without a problematic shelter dog.
@@billyjones8962 lots of purebreds have lots of problems. There are a lot of breeders out there who have no business breeding dogs. They breed for looks only, not health or temperament.
Not on this list, but we got a bulldog mix from a shelter a couple years ago and he has been the absolute best family dog! I have heard this is quite typical of the breed. He's super lazy and relaxed but loves to run around and play with my kids. He is so gentle and patient even my 1-year-old lays with him, hangs on him and feeds him treats (supervised of course).
I have a beagle as well but he has lots of allergies. He can't do chicken or beef. But I love him to death. He doesn't bay or like people out of our clan.
Cool that you put the mutt at #1. Kudos. I was also happy to see my beloved Boston at #3. Bostons make so many of your lists. They are just that good. I hope you do a large dog list in a similar fashion. I'm sure the Great Pyrenees will be on it. My brother's Pyr is such a good boy. A lady I know has 3 of them. Keep up the good work friend.
All of these dogs make wonderful family pets! My son has a Boston Terrier. He is a happy, well behaved little man who loves to cuddle on the couch with the whole family and also loves to rough house with my grandsons. He came into the family as a rescue of course, a rescue is the best kind of dog to have.
I currently have a mixed-breed Maltese - canis. He is very old , 17 years old . When the time comes I will have to be brave and accept it but i already know that he doesn't have a lot time . Because I am currently pregnant and I'm waiting for my first baby to come I don't plan to have a new dog . But after a few years when my baby will be older i want to get one . Puppy or not I'll find one that will be the perfect for our family 😊
My Havanese is one smart and sassy lady😍! Was looking for a poodle, bichon, bolognese, brewer yorkie or cockerpoo but she stole my heart ❤️! They’re also called Silky Poodles too! Grew up with mutts love them we had one that would walk us home from school and back.
I totally agree with adopting a rescue dog. My one dog followed my sister home, and ended up with me, and has no issues with most adults and none with children. (I actively looked for her owner for much longer than Animal Control does, and then got her shots and tags.) I've had her probably the longest I've had any other dog, and wouldn't trade her for the world. Kept one of her pups, before she got neutered, and he's been a great dog around kids as well. Adults he has to get used to first. Definitely a rescue dog can be a great pet and potential family dog. And a family dog does not mean that they cannot be a watch dog. Both of mine will definitely let you know that someone is here!
i had a beagle 2 years back and it was an amazing companion, unfortunately we moved and had to give the pup away. I'am especially fond of a dog that you left out namely the Jack Russel. great video
For a small dog, you can't go wrong with a Miniature Schnauzer. They absolutely love being a part of a family, are funny and smart as hell, and never shed. THE BEST.
I live you placed mutts or mixed breeds as #1 dogs.. Please adopt one at your local shelter. They always know that you saved their lives and will be forever Greatful and devoted. You still need to be the parent and socialize and exercise and tons of love
I love you put mutts at #1. Nearly all the dogs i grew up with on my parents farm were mutts. The exception was a dalmatian the breeder deemed too dumb to sell, which i thought was quite rude as he was one heck of a good dog. They all were.
Hi First off I think your videos r awesome and I hope you don't stop Second, I'm looking for a dog and i live in a house, go on walks often, but love to play in the backyard, but also can't play sometimes I'm choosing between a havanese and a yorkie, and a Rottweiler, what do I choose I'm also looking for a smaller dog as I am a first time owner
Do mean they are suited with there personality? Because i think this list is for People seeking a family pet and in my areas brittany spaniel is one of the most intense bird hunting dogs.
@@emeliegrehag6204 they are. Just like springers, wonderful hunting dog and also wonderful family dog. They are very sensitive and wonderful with children of all age.
I had 3 Springers, the last bite me several times, not nips bites. Had to muzzle her at the Vet. If you get an aggressive one beware. There is an affliction called Springer Rage.
I concur the Mutt is #1 in my heart too. The great thing is. Mutts are avalible for adoption at your local SPCA shelter. Give a Mutt a chance. Your heart and wallet will be glad you did.
Mutts are the best. I drug so many strays home as a kid and my poor mom would take all of them in. I swear I probably kept her poor in vet bills. But, we always had dogs.
Cocker spaniels are known biters. I researched these dogs and didn’t find out until AFTER I got one than the vet told me, a Breeder told me and my pediatrician told me they do not make good family dogs with small children.
Yes but as long as they are well bred ( don't carry the spaniel rage gene) they are awesome for kids about 6 and up. I had one when I was 7 until I was 19 and she was the best because she was like another kid. We used to have so much fun with her and she loved it.
Mine is a male that came from a breeder that has been doing this for 25 years. I think the difference is male vs female. All the covers I had met were female, you say you had a female but I currently own a male. He is great with me but is really only bonded to me. He more or less tolerates everyone else. Just warning people that not all cockers make good family dogs.
I've had American & English cocker spaniels for the last 35 years, got them through breeders and shelters & all have had the sweetest temperament you just have to take the time to look for breeders that don't concentrate in just looks, temperament is #1. Cocker spaniels are great family dogs but like all breeds you must take the time to socialized them.
Please add the American Eskimo to your list of great companion dogs! I shared my home with an Eski for 16 1/2 years. He was the most loving, loyal, smart, wonderful little guy. This breed of dog is bread only to be a companion dog. They live only to love you!
I want a dog that is playful and can learn alot of tricks. Also, I don't want the fur to fall off easily. Is there a good dog meeting those critera? Thanks
I love all of these dogs but I personally think that boxers, staffys and bulldogs (old english and French) are also great! I have a staffy myself and she loves everything and everyone except really big dogs and Flys that hum real loud
Pitbulls are not small nor large but medium sized dogs. Most pitbulls weigh around 20 kilo. They are good with children but I wouldn't recommend them to first time dog owners though
I found my doggo by a bin at around weeks old. I'm guessing she's a shitzu terrior mixed breed? But I'm not too sure. Either way she was the sweetest little doggo. Afraid of everything except for me, but soooo sweet and tiny.
I have an English Cocker spaniel😍she is a kind calm Angel. She is the most loveable and loves cuddles. Hi Leroy! I have to say I disagree with you on the exercise requirements of a Basset Hound. I had one many years ago and they absolutely love to run! Are hunting dogs and they need room to run. When they're in the house they're pretty laid-back and kind of couch potatoes but they do need a daily run, not a walk. Also in some future videos could you let people know that Boston Terriers actually do come in three sizes? They're still all small, but there are three sizes. :-) I'm trying to work my way through most of your videos to help you guys out.

Problem with pugs is that they are extremely prone to health issues especially breathing difficulties which means they can't go on big walks or run around for too long. We’ll be getting a golden retriever and boxer later this year. But I really want a cocker spaniel for my daughter.
A golden retriever boxer mix or are you getting a Golden and a Boxer?
Animal Facts we’re getting both a Goldie and a Boxer. Can’t wait .... looking forward to it
Oh awesome congrats. I'm jealous.
I love English Cockers...great health, uber devoted, super smart but they NEED their people and often take a lot of exercise.
I’m getting a dog soon, but we don’t know what to get. We are looking for a medium sized dog that is energetic but doesn’t shed a lot of fur. Does anybody have suggestions?
