Triumph at the 83 US Festival is legendary!
👍👍💯💯🔥🔥
I was right in front of the stage.... Triumph was the best show at the US festival by far.... 3 of the funnest days of my life!
@@RobertMichaelStewart I just graduated on the East Coast that year and couldn't make it to CA!
I was there. Roughly 4th row Center Stage. What a wonderful day. I never ate so many hotdogs, or drank so much very poor lemonade. Lol
Wouldn't have missed it for the world.
Lay It On The Line and Magic Power from this same concert. Rock On!!
And "Rock and Roll Machine"
It's all great from this show. "When the lights go down" with Gil the drummer singing rocks too!
Triumph was the most underrated band of all time. They kicked ass live. There were over 350,000 people at the 1983 US Festival.
This is by far one the best live performances in my book! The guitar solos are second to none!!!!!!!
Rik Emmett is a beast.
That whole set was awesome.
As a 50-year-old Triumph fan from northeast Ohio, this has always been one of my favorite performances. Cheers!
I wish I would have seen it sooner. I'm 51 and saw this performance about a year ago. I went and bought a lot of gear to get that guitar tone. So good!
Southwest Ohio here.. Cincinnati...and I agree 👍! Oh, and I'm 65!
Hi from Canada. One of our many great bands that are not well known in the US.
Also from northeast Ohio, and 50. Been a fan since 1984.
@@jameskahoe3966 , good to see a fellow Buckeye! And my age, too. What high school did you go to? I am from Canton.
Another great 3 piece band out of Canada 🇨🇦 🎉
Magic Power is another great song by Triumph.
Lay It On The Line is one of their big hits.
He's 100% Right that is their Best song its AWESOME !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Also Never Surrender
This show though. US Festival set is the greatest moment imo. Saw triumph 3 times and they are a much better live band than their more polished but toned down studio stuff.
One of. Actually their biggest hit was Somebody's Out There off of Sport of Kings .
Three humble guys from Canada
I was at this show. Sunday, May 29, 1983 Devore California, the desert of San Bernardino county. Recently turned 17 before this show and I have to say it was one of the best shows of my life. I was one of 350,000+ metalheads, rockin out and partying in the desert. Quiet Riot, Mötley Crüe, Ozzy Osbourne, Judas Priest, Triumph, Scorpions and Van Halen to close out the night. I’ve seen some great shows throughout my life, but this definitely was one of the best. Triumph was by far the best band that day. A really fun reaction, thanks for bringing back some awesome memories.👏👏👏👏🤘🤘🤘🤘🤙🤙🤙🤙
Wow, that sounds like a heck of a concert.
Criminally underrated musicians
At 63 years old, I love the generational aspect of you three experiencing these classics in your own way together! Keep up the good work!
Thanks! Will do!
Rik Emmett of Triumph (3 man band) is so talented, fantastic guitar player and singer.
Rik Emmitt ( singer) is still going strong nearly 50 years after they started. Still hits some pretty high notes, still shreds on the guitar, and still has great hair!
Triumph is a VERY UNDERATED CDN BAND, finally get the recognition they deserve!!! Amazing Band Rik Emmett lead singer, has an amazing voice!! (Lay it on the Line you need to listen to)
Best Band Performance at the U.S. Festival that year and arguably, ever.
I’m 60 and love Triumph! And this is my favorite song! Glad I found y’all and glad y’all found Triumph! Peace
Magic Power?
Magic Power?
Magic Power?
Magic Power?
I was there, over 350000 people temperature over 105. Getting hosed down by water cannons. Triumph was one of the highlights of the day.
How adorable was Donna fan girling when he hit those high notes😊
I have to say Gramma is looking good today. The hairstyle suits her
She knows Great music when she hears it.
My brother was at this concert ( Us festival ) he was nearly crushed and blacked out from heat exhaustion- taken to the medical tent. He said that Triunph blew everyone away and stole the show. It really was their crowning moment in the USA and launched them in popularity.
To think he was sounding like that live - he's one of a very VERY few people who can do that !
Lay It on the Line, Magic Power, Follow Your Heart, Spellbound, Rocky Mountain Way
Listen how Emmet's voice hits the highest notes PERFECTLY...
Triumph Rocks!!! 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
One of greatest guest sets ever at a show. This was their encore and show closer, thus the long finish. Any song you choose from their US festival set is terrific.
This was from the 1983 US Festival, perhaps the largest attendance ever. The lineup that day in order was Quiet Riot, Motley Crue, Ozzy Osbourne, Judas Priest, Triumph, Scorpions, ending with Van Halen. At the time of Triumph’s appearance, the crowd was estimated at 350,000! Most people there that day thought Triumph had the best performance, which Eddie Van Halen took offense at, but apparently Van Halen were all drunk, so……
The young girl is thinking "WOW.....THIS is what good music is!!! What have I been listening to????" Lol
Triumph was a staple of the 70s and 80s, there one song Lay it on the Line is a must hear, terrific reaction as usual
Ladies, You been missing out. I have been listening to Triumph since my early 20's. I am 66 years old now. Great Band from Canada!
Awesome, Great choice, I've been a triumph fan since 1979.
Almost willing to bet Dad knows Triumph, maybe not. Another great band from Canada. Saw them in the Astrodome 1983 Texas Jam. A few more good ones are:
Lay It On The Line
Magic Power
Never Surrender
Thanks for the Reaction.
I was at that multi-day concert in 1983!!! The US Festival!!! I have a copy of Triumph's performance that day!! It was LEGENDARY!!! Great reaction and welcome to the Triumph rabbit hole! Enjoy!!!
They call this band Rush's little brother, cause they are also from Canada and we're not as big a band as them, but I love em.
Rik's voice has been described as "angelic"
Rik Emmet is a man of extraordinary talent. Absolutely one of the greatest vocalist/guitarists/songwriters of this life time. A matter of fact, he’s so good, he has his own School of music.
Awesome performance! I saw Triumph live twice in the mid ‘80s. Rik Emmett could definitely hit those high notes. He had the Farrah Fawcett hair-do for sure!❤ He was 29 yrs. old at the time of this concert, happily married and a one yr. old at home in Canada. He is now 70 yrs. old still married to his wife of 48 yrs. and has 4 adult children and 5 grandkids! (And his hair is as white as snow) still hunky though! I last saw him in 2022 and will fly from Virginia to Canada to see him again in 3 wks.! I can’t wait!! He has a memoir out now and a book of poetry. You should definitely check them out!!
One of the most underappreciated bands ever. Magic Power was their biggest song, but so many in their catalog were great. Hold on, Little Texas Shaker, Never surrender, Lay it on the line............ SO MANY!
Lay it on the Line, Triumph, same concert. US rock concert more than 300,000+😱
Triumph is a Canadian "export". They actually became bigger in the states than they were at home. His vocals while not identical is very similar to Geddy Lee from Rush. Both bands are great and deserve and deeper dive into their respective Songs and careers!
Great reaction ladies! Triumph were a Canadian hard rock band that were formed in 1975 and were popular in the 70s and 80s. The band are: Rik Emmitt vocals/guitar, Mike Levine bass/keyboards/backing vocals, and Gil Moore drums/lead and backing vocals. They had a string of hits that were played often on rock radio. Other songs worth checking out are: Lay It On The Line, Magic Power, and World of Fantasy!!
theres just something special about Canada and their 3 peice bands and the high vocals....
One of my all time favorite bands! Been a fan for 40 years.
VERY GREAT BAND
Triumph was the headliner at my very first big concert in 1978. That was at the Canada Jam at Mosport Park in Bowmanville, Ontario. I love Triumph to this day and is just one of the great Canadian bands on my playlist.
the other amazing 3 piece band from Canada!
Yeah, Klaatu was great weren't they?! lol...
Hey Ladies! US Fest '83. This is an awesome performance by Triumph! Thanks for the reaction.👍😎
214 My best bud was good friends with Richard, so we used to go see Triumph in Toronto bars when they first started, always a great time.
@@lesblatnyak5947 Very cool 36!👍😎
Triumph rocks !!! You guys rock too !!!
Great song great performance
My all time favorite band.. love seeing others reacting to such amazing talent..
You three are a warm hug on a cold day. Thanks for sharing!
😊 thank you
The best guitar and vocal talent in one I've ever seen
I've been fan since 1980 and I've always said that about Rik, esp live, Who can sing and shred like this live? Randy Jackson of Zebra in his prime would be another name. Frank Marino gets a nod but Rik's the best for me.
@@MrAitraining Mark Farner of Grand Funk Railroad should be on the list.
Rick Emmet is a genius at Guitar , Triumph's "Midsummer's Daydream" is may favorite song from them , all Acoustic Instrumental.
He wrote this about his aunt that was battling cancer
This was from the US Festival in 83 Glen Helen Regional Park in California. I went to the one in 82. There was over 400,000 that attended in 82 for the 3 day festival. In 83 there was 670,000 for t he three days.
Other songs by Triumph are Lay It On The Line, Magic Power, Rock'n'Roll Machine and my favorite, The Blinding Light Show.
One thing people overlook on their live performances is the lyrical content of their songs. So many positive songs.
“Lay It On the Line” is another killer song from them. Rik Emmett, the lead singer and guitarist is amazing. He makes it look easy. The 1983 US Festival was kind of a reintroduction of them to America. I think that they shocked a lot of people that day. They are one of the most underrated bands EVER! Steve Wozniak promoted the US Festival in 1982 and 1983. He was Steve Jobs partner at Apple. Wozniak hand built the very first Apple personal computer in Steve Jobs parents garage if I remember correctly.
Canadian band; they have many, many great hits; the album came out senior year of HS (Allied Forces); was instantly a favorite in 1980-81; he wrote this song for his grandmother who was fighting cancer; read the lyrics through with this in mind and it'll make you cry ... well, at least it may have made me ...
Triumph is awesome and underrated, check out any of their stuff , I'm 65 years old and this is Rock and Roll . I believe the song was written for the singers Aunt who was battling cancer
Saw them four times..first time ,78 or '79 in Evansville,IN. The band is fantastic...Rik Emmett is on a whole other level...workd class guitar and vocals!
They were one of those bands that just pumped positivity to the crowd if you were to listen to what that song is saying it is a fantastic song. You have to listen to that whole concert portion of triumph and you guys would get a better feel for the band they’re awesome. They’re fantastic. I’ve seen them about four times
great band banger song
All right my lovely ladies.... This band and the song kicks hard ‼️💯🔥☺️👍🏼
Use to see Triumph in Toronto in bars. My best bud went to high school with Rik. Always a brilliant time. 🍁✨️🎶✨️🍁
More triumph , you won’t be disappointed
CAN THEY ROCK ? YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS
I was at this performance and the US Festival, Triumph tore up the stage!
I bet they did awesome you were there.
Rik Emmett and Geddy Lee from Rush are both from the Toronto area and sounded very similar to me on a lot of songs back in the day. 😉
I was at the US festival that day I was 16 im now 60 I met my wife there a month later I asked her to marry me and she did the funny thing she lived 6 blocks away from me and we are still married and we watch these TH-cam videos all the time brings back memories triumph was the best band that day
Loved this reaction. Rik Emmett is my favorite artist/musician
I was there that day (all weekend long, actually). Their set was one of the highlights of the entire festival. This has long been one of my favorites by them because of the performance and the message in the song.
Now you guys need to watch "magic Power" and "Lay it on the line" from the same concert. (Us festival 1983)
I’m sure someone has already mentioned this but Rik Emmett wrote this song for his aunt that was fighting cancer at that time.
Always enjoy it when i see someone discover triumph for the first time. Been a fan since 78. Rik emmett is probably the most talented musician and singer ive ever seen. Thanks for this.
Unfortunately one of my regrets in life is not seeing triumph live Because as a group i've been into them since I was seventeen 1979 So much talent. So many greathanks for only 3 piece band out of Canada. They deserved to become way bigger than they Did very underrated
Magic Power from the same LIVE @ The US Festival and Lay It On The Line from LIVE @ the US Festival are two of their greatest hits. They blew every band including headliners Van Halen off the stage with their performance at the 500.000 + in attendance festival. Thanks for playing Fight The Good Fight this song was the ultimate closer at the entire show.
There are no misses from their US festival set. Truly a near perfect performance wire to wire
My very first concert
proudly Canadian ! thanks !
My 1st concert was Triumph. The laser light show in the arena was incredible.
triumph the definition of rock stars, 3 member band, think about that, the lead singer rik emmitt one of the best vocalists, and lead guitar in all of the 70's, you probably have heard lay it on the line or magic power, look at those from this same 1983 us festival in san bernardino ca i saw triumph live twice, after their 79 its just a game album where every track is fire and the 82 allied forces album, super incredible band live my favorite songs are its just a game and suitcase blues from its just a game, so happy you're exploring this band, they were huge 2 me in my teen years, wait till you hear rik sing lay it on the line, in private listen to the whole its just a game album, just as good as boston's 76 debut album, 70's and 80's rock n metal thee best music ever created
So Thankful you took the time to explore these fabulous guys from Canada! 🤙
I was there that day, with 300,000 people, and let me tell you it was the biggest traffic jam I've been in. Bill
They were always great live. Saw them the first time on the Just a Game tour. They always had a great stage show with lots of pyrotechnics. My favorite song from them is Blinding Light Show, especially the studio version.
These guys should have been WAY bigger than they were. They had an image problem They were kind of the good guys of hard rock/heavy metal. Plus, most if not all of their songs were uplifting feel good songs. This was a huge heavy metal concert and they knocked it out of the park! In my opinion Rik Emmett may be the best lead singer lead guitarist combo of all time. His voice is just amazing but he's also one hell of a guitar player. In this same concert he plays his electric guitar like a classical guitarist and it is just amazing. You need to check out Lay it on the line. You may have heard this song possibly. It's a song at least for me I just can't forget.
Something about Canadian bands and distinctive voices - Rush, Triumph and April Wine - Love the reaction!
The 3 best performances from this 1983 Us Festival "IMO"where Judas priest, Triumph and the Stray Cats.
Middle-aged Canadian here! It was a rare day growing up in the 80s that I *didn't* hear at least one Triumph song on the radio. (Along with legendary Toronto boys Rush, of course!) So Donna, I'm guessing you know the great Rik Emmett's voice from "Magic Power," which was by far their biggest hit here (among many), and was probably their biggest song south of the border as well. If you hear that song, you'll probably remember it, and your daughter and granddaughter will love it!
PS: Also, Donna, Since you're younger than me, it's completely impossible for you to be a grandmother. Just ask my cat how irresponsibly youthful I still am! Oh shit, I forgot to feed the cat. Anyway, not quite ready for kids here.
Another great reaction to another great band. Thank you.
Great reaction! Thank you so much for doing this! Triumph’s performance at this festival was fantastic. Other great Triumph songs include: Hold On, Magic Power, Lay it on the Line, A World of Fantasy, and Ordinary Man. Rik Emmett is extremely talented as a songwriter, vocalist, and guitar player.
Rik Emmett (Lead singer) is always on point. Mike Levine (Bass) and Gil (Drummer) are also great on their instruments and solid singers as well. One of my favorite 80's bands
Please, please, listen to more songs live or not. Best band ever. Great 3 band members who didn't do drugs, etc.
These guys have such good albums ❤👍
Awesome performance -thanks ladies -you all are too cute! Lay it on the Line, and many others -TC:)
Saw them late 70s. Wichita falls. Tx. Best light show I ever saw.
I do believe that is the absolute biggest trashcan ending I have ever seen 😮. I remember hearing Triumph on the radio when I was young. But to be honest, I had all but forgotten about them and how great they were. Thanks for doing this one ladies🤠
Thanks for watching
One of our amazing Canadian bands . So sad that the crooked record industry screwed them over and left them pennyless after all there great music and hard work
San Bernardino, CA, my hometown. Back when it was a stop for all the major bands concerts.
Hey, Donna. The feelings you felt listening to this song is exactly how this band made our whole generation feel. I am happy that you finally got to feel the greatness of Triumph, and of course vocalist/guitarist Rik Emmett. He truly is one of the greatest things to ever happen to rock music.
Keep up the great work, ladies. I have subscribed!
I’d love to suggest a few other videos for you to watch.
Steelheart - “I’ll Never Let You Go”
Queensryche - “Take Hold of the Flame”
Saigon Kick - “Love is on the Way”
Dream Theater - “Pull Me Under”
I am guessing the song you may have heard is "Lay it on The line"
And wow Kathy your beautiful in this reaction wintersun Alex ❄️🫶❤️🌹
