  • Ladies & Gents… We Have A Video! 🎥
Join me for my latest instalment as I document the history of the B-29 Superfortress that crashed on the hill tops of Bleaklow back in 1948. ✈️
All that remains is haunting remnants of the wreckage and the memories of the poor souls that tragically lost their lives all those years ago ⚙️ 🪦
Special thanks to me dad for featuring on the video and having his input. It also features one of the funniest brew breaks we’ve done ☕️ 🍪 so keep your eyes our for it.
Thanks for the continued support and please feel free to share the video as the more people get to see it the more we are preserving history!
Take care people & I’ll see you very soon!

Thank you for another great video DM. Very glad that you are well and have got back again. And great to see you and your Dad sharing adventures. My Dad took me hiking over the West Pennine moors from when I was eleven. That was in 1961, and my Dad was 38. Times were still a bit hard then, and we first went into Manchester on the bus and bought some ex-army hiking boots and rucksacks and a little tin spirit stove for a brew from the Army Surplus Stores. And some thick woolly socks. Then we made luncheon meat and cheese butties, and set of at six o'clock in the morning into a cold mist that soon turned into a great sunny day. We set out over the moors from Rivington. We explored the old lead mines and mill races for the long gone mills, and the water cascades into the Anglezarke reservoirs. They were the happiest days of my life at that time. I drove him up there for the last time in 2005, just a few weeks before he died of cancer, and could not walk much any more. We sat in the car and looked out over the Lancashire plane towards the Irish sea. Life is fragile on the time scale. But can be tremendously strong in the moments we live it in. And can be passed on to our children. And theirs.

Absolutely beautifully and respectfully done 💕. Your choice of music was very appropriate also. I can’t imagine what it must have been like for the rescue crews going up there 😢. An incredibly tragic event 💗
… now … just dealing with the water jump: can I ask why you didn’t just walk to the ridge at the end and then walk back round the other side? (Although that wouldn’t have been half as entertaining 😂)

Haha, that whole section was completely waterlogged and boggy. Even though around the muddy patch didn’t look too bad, it was really boggy and wet….or maybe we just wanted to jump in some mud 😂😂

Been up there so many times and it still gets me how sad it is, the site is haunted by the aircrew.
One of the bodies was never found sadly, one of my family members knew an old peak ranger who worked up there who took some old american airmen up there from burtonwood and as they approached in the fog these 70 yr old guys took off at speed…. When the ranger caught them up they said the full crew was stood in the fog behind the ranger.
The men who went up to the wreck knew the aircrew personally

There is a crashed Lancaster bomber near a place I worked in Argyle Scotland. Some guys I worked with found one of the machine guns. One night pissed they decided it would be a good idea to collect the gun as a good souvenir. A couple of days later the police knocked on the door and took it off them. This was long before my time I think this was the early 80s or late 70s so they just got a telling off.
