STOCKPORT'S DODGE HILL AIR RAID SHELTER (HAUNTED)

  • The Dodge Hill deep level shelter is one of three deep level air raid shelters in Stockport, which were dug into the red sandstone on which the town centre stands on. The smallest of the tunnel shelters could accommodate 2,000 civilians and the largest 6,500 civilians. The shelters were constructed in 1938 and 1939. Stockport was bombed for the first time on 11 October 1940
After the end of the War, the tunnels were sealed up and remained virtually as they had been. Nowadays, in one of the shelters of Stockport are guided tours.

@@daftmonkey7296 It should be me thanking you, you dont know this but by watching your videos i have learnt so much about our local areas. I particularly loved the Lowry documentary as i live just around the corner from Station Road Swinton, and i used to work in the Acme Mill (sadly no longer there) which inspired a lot of Lowrys work. I do have a little TH-cam channel (zarmer16) no where near your level, just local drone footage but i have to say that a lot of my inspiration comes from watching your work. Excellent production yet again! having been down some of the shelters in Stockport Myself, once on a tour with Grandkids, an adult tour where you saw a bit more in depth and Flecky Bennett does a haunted tour, I was particularly interested in your take on it all. You didn't disappoint! well presented, researched and produced. Interesting to watch, keeping your audience captivated. Some great laugh out loud one liners in there too, 'Don't shit me up Dad' haha, so bringing some lighthearted humour in there too. Altogether another fabulous piece of viewing. Well done x

My mum was in the blitz in Manchester she lived in Market place she told us they were running to a shelter the raid had started she remembers dodging molten glass on the pavement from the firestorm, their house was bombed out they lost everything at Christmas time as well, later on in life she developed dementia as she deteriorated and couldn’t speak many words the only thing she would say is” I’m frightened “ which we thought she was reminiscing of her times in the Blitz. So much at stake but you are still powerless to change anything! So you wait in the dark! Great work as always fella! Great video of these shelters. Can you imagine being down in these shelters during a bombing. The rumble of the bombs dropping above shaking the tunnels below, it must have been frightening as hell wondering if the tunnels might collapse. Imagine all the smells taking place, food, peoples body odor, the honey buckets, it must have added to the nausea of the bombing above. Our parents/grandparents were made from some pretty hardy stock to have gone through all of that. I don't doubt there are still some spirits who never left these shelters.

I am a volunteer at Hangar 42 at Blackpool airport and i know it may not be your neck of the woods but it may be interesting for your dad and his paranormal investigations. There are things that go on in the hangar which i was amazed at when i was told. We had the Most Haunted team there before this pandemic and i joined in but there was activity 'off' camera.....almost as if they didnt really like strangers being there. Another amazing VLOG 😊 And not to freak you out, but when you recorded the word ‘Dust’ a few minutes later in your VLOG you made the observation ‘can you imagine the vibrations when the bombs were falling; can you imagine the dust?’. Maybe someone was trying to tell you something! Again, interesting to me as my mum/my grandparents were in Levenshulme at the time. The Germans bombed all the way up Stockport Road but didn’t realise the road had a bend - they carried on bombing straight and bombed through the McVites factory where my Nana worked 😊.
