How to find the B-29 'Overexposed' Crash Site | Bleaklow, Peak District

- In this video we show you how to find the B-29 'Overexposed' Crash Site up on Bleaklow Moor above Glossop in the Peak District! With the increase in popularity due to social media signs have been added along the main path to direct you to the crash site. However, if you would like a less well-worn and more scenic (yet still a legitimate) route to the crash site then we have you covered!
This RB-29 Superfortress bomber came down on the moors above Glossop on the 3rd November 1948. Unfortunately, all 13 crew members were killed in the crash. The wreckage still lies scattered across the moorland and is remarkably well preserved and a memorial has now been erected to the 13 American personnel that lost their lives in this tragic incident.

Great video,this inspired us to visit today,just a heads up don't rely on the signs to find the crash site as they have all been removed (not sure why?)with the exception of the sign just after the gate in the parking area ,well worth a visit, beautiful location and fascinating to see the crash site.

From where we parked probably only about 30-40 minutes if not a bit quicker if you’re a fast walker. Enjoy and thanks for watching 👍

@@twentyone182 the smallest loop you could do is probably like 3-4km. But you can extend it quite easily if you wanted to 👍

Thanks a lot! It would probably take about 30mins from where we parked to the crash site following the route we did if you walked at a steady pace! Took us a bit longer because we were filming as well. It isn't super far though! Enjoy your visit and hope you get good weather 👍
Hi guys. Hope you’re well. So I tried this walk back in 2022 but I don’t know where I was going the route was very bad it’s was muddy most of the way. I have no idea where I ended up I know I walked for about 2 hours but I was getting any luck. Eventually I has to turn around and go back. It was so disappointing for me. I know I was very close to the crash site but it still felt miles off. At the end of it all I was so disappointed with myself telling myself if I had carried on maybe I could have got there. But the path I took was treacherous. I do put it down to the weather being bad too. Anyway I’ve a got a bit more understanding of the pathway you guys took. So maybe in the near future I might go again. If you guys ever organise a guided tour to this place could you please count me in. Thank you 🙏

I took the same route. I want to take my partner but I think this way would be to hard for her. Was the old marked route easier? Great video.

we go up there a lot,,,we did it in the dark and bad fog on Sunday and very very different in the dark and fog,,,al the signs have gone now for the crash site

How long was the walk from where you parked your car to the crash site?
Hey! If you follow our route and just walk without stopping its probably going to take you 25-30 minutes depending on your speed 👍 rough estimate though could be slightly shorter or longer...

The walk there is actually very easy! The flight that crashed in the thick fog...yeah that was dangerous!
