I just wanna say man, i respect your build a lot, i have an e36 too but you don't see many conv's ever, and yours is nice. Keep it up i might boost my m50 soon too haha!
Hey @pawinning I just finished my turbo bottom mount e36 Garrett gt3582 spa manifold build. I found motor teardown videos very helpful. Rebuilt my motor. It took almost a year way longer than I thought it would. Also upwards of 20k probably well over 5k mistakes but I learned a lot and did it. Was my first time doing motor work. I’ve always shied away from the motor but did a lot of suspension diff and anything but the motor lol.
So hyped you made a channel man, can't wait to see your videos. I really loved the way you went cheap but good cheap, like still quality and happy medium. Looking forward to seeing more content
been quite lazy i need to fab up some 4 inch exhaust, and re tune her, build a s52 2 years ago blew her up couple months ago and went crazy with a bullet proof 1khp Frankenstein build lol, can i ask, are you apart of the fb group "boosted e36 world"? some of the fastest guys are on that page lol, new guys join every day and all we do is discuss going faster and praising others! you would be a great addition man and i would love to discuss your build more indepth, give you some insiders i have learned along the way. i got a buddy who is made 700+ on e85 with a hx40 and a stock m52 with headstuds hg and a spacer lol. you can make some big power man, hope to hear from you soon!
Damn that sucks the engine blew! Hope my content can help with your swap. I also recommend u checking out my buddies channel M3nace for e36 swap content as he's got more experience than me with swapping parts between e36 models
Cool to know you can get away with not having to change the pistons and con rods for a turbo build. I've got a little 1993 325is, and it needs more power. I'm gonna copy you buddy.
Should keep making videos. Realized while watching the winding roads review on the car how similar our builds are. Especially when he had you show him how to do the windows that’s when I knew 😂
im buying my friends 328 for something to play with. Its got 200k on it. Thinking of doing low boost for the hell of it. The car has been VERY well maintained.hope it works out..
I'm following your build list completely as it appears way more reliable than the cheap kits but doesn't cost ridiculous amounts, could you explain what the welded oil drain bung is for?
Awesome, I just got a 95 325ci as well and have been looking into performance options. More videos please! I would also like to ask you, I know you said you cleaned up the engine but it was mostly stock... I am considering swapping for the m3 cams but before I commit to that I'd like to know what kind of improvement you've seen in the low/mid range on the stock cams after boosting? Mine being bone stock, I've noticed there's nothing really impressive about it until I hit almost 5k rpm.
Veltronix Electronics I've heard that m3 cams will add 15-20 hp and give better low end torque. But if ur referring to my turbo build the car still behaves like a stock car up until full boost hits 😎
Hey Pawinn! I enjoy watching your videos, they are very helpful for me. I have a 93 325i m50 bottom mount and am in the process of tuning. I ordered the Miller war chip kit with the injectors, maf, chip etc. So I have the kit, where do I go from here? Find a computer with windows xp ?
Hey! Thank you for your support and congrats on the kit purchase! Yes, you’ll need an older PC that runs windows Xp, and first generation USB ports (USB 1.0). I bought an older refurbished dell laptop off eBay for less than $100
Very informative video, thanks for taking the time! Love the build and your knowledge regarding the individual pieces, and how the setup behaves as a complete unit. I've currently got a Techno Violet '98 m3 with a supercharger. Thinking of doing a turbo build soon. Are you running the copper spacer with a cut ring head gasket in order to lower your compression? Or are you just running the cometic gasket?
hey pawinning did you fix your window problem? if not you might wanna tjek the micro switch in the car on bot sides its locatet in the door panle where the door lacts is meeting the door a little tiny black button its mosty likey you isue Dear Alex :)
Hey man I appreciate your help! I do know which switch your talking about. That's not the issue as to why my windows have kept failing to work. Ive found that the entire frame of the door (where the window regulator attaches to) is bend and has a slight bow inwards to the interior of the car on both doors 😔. Because of that I've never gotten the correct alignment 🤷🏻♂️. Gonna eventually just swap doors or get a better chassis shell.
would you say this was a cheaper yet better alternative to a JDM 1jzgte? lots of ppl are turboing the m50 yet some still go 1j . About how much hp/boost can the stock bottom end m50 block handle? I know its Cast-iron.
Justin Alexander I do want to do a jdm swap in the future! This build cost about 5k on the turbocharging goodies, idk what a 1jz build cost would be like but I'll look into it!
+Samuel Rogers the bracket was custom! Just welded a bar to an existing hoist bracket near the vanos unit and bolted it to the turbo in a way that it has upward tension
Great build! I bought the miller war chip for my turbo build and having a tough time with customer service. The 413 blo thru base tune he sent me say "incompatible date file" when i try to write to my chip. Do you happen to have a 413 blo thru base tune or are you using a 413 dme? If you get a chance i would like to talk. Thanks
Nice work bro mmmm5g boosted bimma, sounds familiar... Oh yeah I have a 16psi twin screw lysholm supercharged e46 m3 @528whp. So I can relate what you have done for the money and I am really impressed
The banjo bolt I had was essentially a stock one with a welded fitting on it. That replaced the bolt that secures the vanos oil feed hose on the oil filter housing rallyroad.net/products/vanosbanjooilsupplyfitting
+AngleNagle id worry more about forged internals before changing the block. But then again the stock components when combined with an mls/cutring headgasket and arp head studs can hold up to 500 hp with no mechanical issues
@Pawinning i need your opinion my head gasket is giving out on my e36 m50 dont know if i should go with another used junkyard engine or if i should buy a new cylinder head and upgrade to a mls gasket to prevent it from going bad again need your advice please help make my m50 bulletproof !
Hey man! Happy to help. All depends on your budget and the health of the engine aside from your gasket issues! I would approach getting a new engine only if you're planning to do a more intense build (with boost or forged internals). Regardless of what you choose, you will need to take the head off and have it cleaned, inspected and resurfaced if the condition is still good. To really make it bullet proof, id consider a cut-ring gasket change with arp head studs.
They have a pipe that mates up to the intake boot that is for a Maf, but depending on what maf you may need u need to weld a flange for it. The only thing I have from Cxracing is the exhaust manifold, and their universal intercooler kit. It came with more piping than I needed so I made a custom piping setup 👌
Thank you.. I want a turbo but still want to enjoy the ac world.. do you by any chance know if bottom mount would allow me to do that. Thanks in advance.
A bottom mount can retain ac depending on how your turbo size, and how your piping is run. I'm not sure of exact specs that would be perfect to keep ac, as long as the refrigerant lines are untouched on the passenger side of the car you should be fine.

+MichealMee Zay my m50 only had a new headgasket and arp head studs. But that sucks you still have overheating issues! It's possible you might have a clog somewhere so doing a coolant flush might help!
No, you have a different ecu type. I’d recommend swapping in an m50 and boosting that obd1 if u can. There are tuning options available for the 4 cylinder motors for the 318ti tho. I think Miller had them but I haven’t dug into those motors yet
Im a 16 year old high school student and i have a 97 328is, im looking at the cx racing $1300 dollar package, what, if any, additional items would i need. do i need to modify the head gasket if i want to run low boost pressures?

Hey bro i got question about this build... I heard m50 can handle 500hp on stock everything in engine now my question is u havs 341hp what would u need to do on that e36 to make that 500hp? Because i want to buy cx racing turbo kit for my e36 but i watched few vids with that kit and no one is pushing more then 350hp.... Thanks for the response 😁😁😁
Yo! Building my 325 with a turbo this winter. Just wanted to ask how that CX racing manifol fitted on to your engine? Any custom motormounts or anything similiar or was everything just bolt on with the 6262 turbo?
Robin Calén the only issues is that the manifold has to be installed with the motor floating on a crane to give yourself more room. Any turbo larger than the one in the kit won't clear the hood. Other things I did were beef up some of the welds and a bracket to help support the weight of the turbo cuz the mani can crack over time!
Hmm... does not sound so bad. I mean it is a better option price way than what we have in Sweden for example. Planning to run a T70 turbo on it. think it is around the same size as a 5858. Sent a email to CXRacing themselfs but they responded with they don´t know how it fits in a LHD drive car bla bla bla. And since i knew you are running one i figured you would know (thx for info).Yeah im lifting the motor out to give it a good all around service with gaskets and such. Shooting for around 400whp with ARP and cometic :) How much did yours put down to the tires?
Robin Calén yeah the fitment around a steering rack with no clear too well around the wastegate pipe on that manifold. You might need to shorten some tubing which should not be difficult to do. Additionally a t70 turbo will need an adapter cuz the cx racing manifold is a t3
this car of yours smokes my M3 (1994) for sure...... can u make a video (or maybe you did) about the CXRacing T3 Turbo Manifold please, i want to see how it's been assembled under the car.
hey man great videos!! i have an e36 as well i have the same problems with the windows . what did yoou do to get them going up or down?? i subscribed great vids!!
+RDZ hey man! I ended up taking out the entire regulator assembly and supporting the window with wood haha. Hopefully I'll be able to convert them to manual so I don't hassle with the fragile motors
Another question, my engine is 328 with aluminum block so i need to change it to 325 with cast iron block Is yours m50b25 or b25tu? Would it make a difference if it is not a vanos engine?
+raceuk2011 you done have to swap blocks. There are plenty of people that boost the 328 motors with better power than the m50. I chose to use the m50 mainly because it's what was available to me at the time. Yes I do have the b25tu, but a non vanos engine would have a more reliable mechanical system because it'll have less rotating parts, but at a cost of a lack of variable valve timing.
Glad to see you started a channel, can't wait to see your future videos.

+scott alksmant yes, the motor is stock other than the gasket and studs! Feel free to msg me on insta with questions!
We’re u able to retain AC with this turbo setup?
No. A bottom mount setup can retain ac tho
Pawinning thanks, do you have any recommendations for a low mount turbo?
What is better the electric fan or clutch
Electric ⚡️
Yo! Building my 325 with a turbo this winter. Just wanted to ask how that CX racing manifol fitted on to your engine? Any custom motormounts or anything similiar or was everything just bolt on with the 6262 turbo?
ofc i mean the 5858 xP
Shooting for around 400whp with ARP and cometic :)
How much did yours put down to the tires?
Robin Calén yeah the fitment around a steering rack with no clear too well around the wastegate pipe on that manifold. You might need to shorten some tubing which should not be difficult to do. Additionally a t70 turbo will need an adapter cuz the cx racing manifold is a t3
Also the he dyno sheet says all in my video! 341 whp
Did you put one electric fan.?
So the turbo wont fit under stock hood with that manifold?
+ubergama30 yes, supposedly sedans have the best fitment for the manifold :/
i have a sedan... :)
this car of yours smokes my M3 (1994) for sure...... can u make a video (or maybe you did) about the CXRacing T3 Turbo Manifold please, i want to see how it's been assembled under the car.
I plan to do a review video on the cx racing kit overall. It’s a little finicky to install if the motor is in the car
Where you get your intercooler from?
+Michael Maxwell check out the parts list in the description!
Pawinning custom pipe from hot side to exhaust?
Great build bro
How much the mileage incerase after all that
More like an mpg decrease. I get 21 mpg highway and 12mpg around town 😅
K
lets go
hey man great videos!! i have an e36 as well i have the same problems with the windows . what did yoou do to get them going up or down?? i subscribed great vids!!
+RDZ hey man! I ended up taking out the entire regulator assembly and supporting the window with wood haha. Hopefully I'll be able to convert them to manual so I don't hassle with the fragile motors
hahaha alright sounds like a good idea!! thanks for the reply!!! keep up the good work!!! great build !
Another question, my engine is 328 with aluminum block so i need to change it to 325 with cast iron block
Is yours m50b25 or b25tu? Would it make a difference if it is not a vanos engine?
+raceuk2011 you done have to swap blocks. There are plenty of people that boost the 328 motors with better power than the m50. I chose to use the m50 mainly because it's what was available to me at the time. Yes I do have the b25tu, but a non vanos engine would have a more reliable mechanical system because it'll have less rotating parts, but at a cost of a lack of variable valve timing.
