The girl in the pink cardigan pissed me off sm, her being paranoid is justified but she was so dumb but turning someone into a zombie IN THE SAME ROOM💀
And don't forget the teacher who said the just did it because "she was scared". No, she was a stupid arrogant brat who just couldn't stand poor people and being wrong. She literally only infected him because he was worthless in her eyes and she wanted the others to think she was right... I honestly don't feel sorry for the teacher, she should've just let Na-yeon go because she was obviously and utterly in the wrong. I also don't buy Na-yeons remorsefulness, she was probably the shittiest character in the series, even shittier than Gwi-nam (who is honestly just plain evil without any depth, he is just sadistic that's it. He doesn't have goals or an agenda, he just randomly kills people.)
One of the best things about this show was that it kept the zombies as the main threat and didn't go down the "humans are the real monsters" path like everyone else does
As for the dad. They showed a closeup on his hand. He was bitten that's why he sacrificed himself but blink and you miss it. But before that reveal I had the same reaction
Yeah, and also the reason he was bitten was because he saved that archer girl just outside the tennis court from a single zombie. Archer girl who for some reason had to stop and take a shot at the zombies in the distance, even though they would have had plenty of time to get in there and lock the door had none of them stopped. Just so the show could have the dad get bit on the hand and heroically sacrifice himself. Just that whole sequence of events made me mad haha
@@puppyenemy i understood it as him being bit in the construction yard before reaching the school when the cameras just so happened to cut as he was tackled by a zombie. It explained to me why he was so gung ho at just leading them to the nearest exit without doing any prep or anything at all since he knew his time was limited.
@@mattimeikalainen6963 yes I suspect he probably did get bit back then. So silly of him to give up his main weapon but the sound might have been a liability.
@@ziljin yeah a lot of the characters in this show had hero complexes. Su-Hyeok is a really rare example of a hero complex that actually lives. But i guess they could allow that since so many others died.
I think the change rate of the zombies depends on their fear and/or anger, since the nurse wasn't at all scared but the guy she bit was and it turned him faster.
@@aardwolf6668maybe a different type of fear (? She was just nervous and stressed because of that bite. Ofc she felt scared but maybe not that much, considering she is a professional and she was bitted on a "regular" situation. On the other hand, the guy literally had the nurse eating his face.
@@kassandraaceves5198 turn rate depends on where they were bitten. The virus attacks the brain so if you were bitten somewhere near the brain like neck, face or head, turn rate will be within seconds. Unlike I-sak, the skinny teacher and the nurse that was bitten on their leg and arms, turn rate became slower as the virus needs to travel all the way to the brain
fun fact! there was a theory that On-jo was actually the first hambie, but the reason she didn’t go feral like Gwi-nam or Nam-ra is because, instead of being bitten like them, she was only scratched by Hyeon-ju at the beginning. this kinda explains the reason why, in the lunchroom scene, the first zombie just kinda “smells”(i don’t rlly know what he does lol) her rather than attacking her, and why the hamster doesn’t bite her ankle while they’re in the science lab. also, I-sak does rush towards her when she becomes infected, but that could’ve just been because she was attracted to the sound, not because she was attacking her.
@Fortnite Nintendo Lite Player if you’re talking about gyeong-su, he turned because of nayeon putting the zombie blood directly into his bloodstream so we never really knew what would’ve happened w the other zombies around him! also maybe it’s bcs i haven’t watched the series in a long time but i don’t rlly remember any other zombies attacking on-jo specifically, just the whole group but yk it’s just a theory 😅
theres several scenes where she got attacked tho, the infected girl in the lunch room jumped on her as well as while running to the classroom cheongsan had to push her out of the way of the oncoming zombie charging at her
Nam ra could have definitely solved a lot of issues. She was a halfbie and therefore zombies wouldn't really go after her. So why the hell didn't she just go out first and distract the zombies with loud noises while the others got away?
Well, she couldn't have known immediately. Even with the new powers, she didn't fully understand them until after some testing as well as a run in with Gwi-nam. Plus, Bare Su would never let her do that. If the guy is willing to tie himself to her moments after she got bitten just to prove she's normal, then it's safe to say he would refuse to let her be a distraction to the zombies even if she's bitten.
Hell she had super strength am i correct? she could've casually walked around breaking there necks and killing them one by one and clearing the school and other areas with ease. I get she didn't know at first so i don't blame her (story plot i know) i mean after the fact you find out they don't attack or have any interest in you and can move freely in hot zones it seems like you could allow everyone else to hide clear the area of zombies and make a safe zone seems like a better idea instead of risking lives and watching you're friends die one by one. Again not blaming i probably wouldn't be thinking straight and crapping my pants super powers or not given the extreme chaos going on after all she is still human 99.9% of us would act the same but after some time you would think the zombies don't care about me and i can bench press 10 zombies maybe i should clear the areas out before we risk there lives? just saying to be fair what would i know i would be dead or screaming like a little girl anyways so no blame there.
As a high school student myself, I guess the reason they didn't kill zombies that could potentially kill them and resorted to just pushing em off or other is because they're afraid of killing. It isn't ethically, morally and emotionally easy to stab a person even if that person is waggling zombie ready to bite you at any given moment.
I personally think it was more a lack of effective weaponry. The kids who thought to make sharpened weapons had no issues killing, though the weapons were ineffective and resulted in the one kid getting stabbed himself in the process so doing so might have been more harmful than useful. The main group though only used blunt objects. You're going to be wailing away for a while to beat a zombie's skull in enough to stop it from moving. That's way too much wasted energy as opposed to just tossing the zombie out of the way. (Assuming you can get away from it after tossing it away.)
@@prettyevil6662000 Exactly. Resident Evil zombie rules. Killing a zombie takes too much effort and time, whereas just running past them is a lot more effective and efficient, since their pursuit is not that dangerous.
@@kingol4801 yeah except RE zombies are actually slow and dont run the these ones (even if plot makes them slow) but then again it would be easier save some durability of your weapon when you can
Something that is cool about the show is all the stories that go by unnoticed in the background, like the bullying, or the pregnant student just leaving school in the middle of the day, really makes you feel like this is a regular school drama just with zombies & mutated zombies
28:56 It's not just the "whistling" that override the rage of gyungsoo. It made him calm for a bit because the song that cheongsan whistled is the song that they used to sing together as shown in the first part of the movie. IDK why you can pinpoint all these "sinful" details but overlooked that detail in their friendship.
Lol this guy is just a troll. 750 thousand subscribers are rookie numbers. He said he likes dark humor but he sounds like someone that is a party 🚽. But hey he rather watch The Walking Dead which is boring as fuck
True, but the part I didn't agree with was when on-jo father held off the zombies in the tennis court he didn't just do it bcs he "wanted to sacrifice himself" he was bitten and knew he would die either hence his decision
Another sin is the archer girl shooting her arrows and not picking them up and reusing it when they are nearby despite arrows being finite. Another sin is the scientist leaving the girl at the school overnight so she could infect everyone rather than stuffing her in a suitcase and chaining her up like he did with his son. Another scene is them complaining about being hungry and thirsty yet nobody bothering to check any drawers for food or supplies. The show is fun but is riddled with a bunch of unfinished storylines and massive plot holes.
Someone on reddit claimed these arrows are not so durable to pulled out without breaking. They are used for practice targets, not live animals or *humans*. They get stuck easily ->breaking while pulling out.
Y'all have to keep in mind that the majority of the show takes place within a time a span of 4 days. I found the initial government response to be rather realistic as mobilizing a military response would take at least 2 days.
I like to think that the zombies here have trouble picking their targets because of the anger the virus is based off of, much like how when ur angry you have lots of thoughts and emotions coming and going through u mind, never really focusing on one specific one
Also about the “immune” people, we were told before the apocalypse that the will of the virus is stronger than the will of the host which is why it takes over, so when the girl and mully got bit they had a goal stronger than the virus, as for prez her situation is just stupid
@@CalebSenobi Pretty sure the point/goal of the virus was to make the ultimate prey "loser" type a predator though? Not based on will. The bullied girl was picked on by many people& wanted to kill herself because she had no one & was seen as a loser. Bully did bad things to have "friends" but really he had no one at all & Cheng even points out multiple times that he is really just a scared loser aka he just pretends to be tough. Prez says her mom only cares about her grades & nothing else, compares her to other students & she has no friends and no one talks to her because she's only allowed to study so in hindsight, a loser. Interestingly all the immune people share that they are outcasts in some way.
@@CalebSenobi I think it makes sense that a virus just has a different effect on people. Exactly like with any real virus like the one that is currently very popular. I recently got it and was not sick at all. I know people fully asymptomatic and also have a family member of 90 years old who got it in 2020. She's completely fine as well. That's not stupid. That's more realistic than just everyone being similarly affected.
For 16:15, I think the reason why an arrow would kill her instead of the wood spear is due to actual anatomy. At that angle you can use a knife to cut the brain off from the rest of the body. The only other time we see this is with Gwi Nam in the staff lunch room when he uses a knife to kill one of the zombies. He ends up keeping the knife with him after that till becoming a halfbie.
@@idkyouthinkofaname323 maybe they have injured some comparatively "insignificant" part of the brain that didn't hinder zombie's ability to move and attack. I mean, even in real life there are multiple instances of people surviving losing large chunks of the brain matter.
In the Webtoon they specified that the zombies go for people they already marked as prey so that might explain why the zombies walked past people at certain points, though they should’ve just explained that in the show 💀
No one noticed that when the bully was trying to escape on the bike he had the blade of the knife in his mouth. The same knife he just killed zombies with, and that had no effect on him.
I guess ingesting the blood has no effect, vs getting it in your blood stream. Otherwise every time someone stabbed a zombie and got blood on their face, there'd be risk of infection. If he happened to have a cut inside his mouth though, he'd be fucked
Stuff in your mouth wouldn't infect you unless you had a cut in there or something. It's why people are able to drink snake venom and not feel any effects
How to survive a zombie outbreak: 1: Be aware of your surroundings 2:Wrap yourself in leather, tape, armor, or heavy clothes that prevent bites 3: Help who you can, you never know who has skills or knowledge that cane save you 4: Learn what kind of zombies you are dealing with and how the infection spreads 5: Good weapons like swords, axes, and bows are silent and can prevent a horde from hearing you. Only use a gun if you have plenty of ammo and are ready to kill some zombies. 6: Find out where to get food, and a fortified place to sleep. Get to terrain like mountains if you can. 7: Good luck.
Any tips on how to survive against your fellow survivors besides "Always keep an eye on the guy who insists they're in charge by repeatedly shouting it in your face"?
#8. practice parkour Edit: also, all I know is that they do not climb obstacles. even they do, I think we can out run them by reaching up to higher place and take advantage of the area for escaping
The girl who got bit by the hamster didn’t attack/try to bite anyone because the science teacher gave her drugs to slow it down, so that’s why the nurse turned fast because she didn’t have the drugs the other girl had.
To clear things up, when the hambies are infected (like Nam-Ra) they don’t actually know what they are capable of unlike the audience, Nam-Ra didn’t know that she could be avoided by zombies and didn’t know that she had zombie strength. Also one of the groups did make weapons, but the other group probably didn’t because they had a lot more other things to be worrying about. It’s become obvious that you aren’t infected unless the zombie blood enters your bloodstream, so even if it was on your face you probably wouldn’t be infected if there was no open wound. The show clearly shows that the virus mutates over time, spreading faster, and the reason why the poor kids infection was slower is because he was infected with a tiny amount of blood onto a tiny scratch whereas others got infected with big bites. Stupid decisions are very plausible in a situation where everybody is fighting for their lives, and not in the right headspace to make rational decisions. The show shows us that the zombies vision is incredibly blurred and it tells us that they are way more sensitive to sound than smell, meaning they’ll have a hard time focusing on one target and will usually go for whoever is closest or making the most sound. Military decisions take a while to be made considering all the controversy and consequences of such important decisions, they didn’t fully know or understand how the virus worked at first and they needed time to make a rational decision. I want to add that the zombies behaviour is irrational and they would never make logical decisions nor choose logical targets.
Most of these (and I mean like 99%) can be cleared up really easily by simple things like, irrational behaviour, the zombies not having minds of their own, having bad vision and relying mostly on sound and simply by “well it just happened” because while yes, stuff like five zombies jumping out of windows at the same time is unlikely, it could still happen, especially considering the fact that the zombies run with full force at their targets
The infected viewing humans as threats in order to make them attack and spread the virus reminds me of one short animated story from the I Am Legend dvd. A girl in India thought her entire family were infected trying to kill her and was forced to defend herself when in fact she was the infected one and murdered her entire family. She later viewed their bodies as food that she needed to eat in order to avoid starvation.
As for the firefighter dad, PAY ATTENTION TO HIS FLIPPING HAND DUDE! THEY EVEN MADE A CLOSE UP OF IT TO SHOW THAT HE GOT BITTEN THERE!!! EVEN THE DAUGHTER SAW IT AND WAS SHOCKED!!!! +10 sins for you not paying attention
This show could have a 100k sins and it would still be one of my favorite additions to the zombie genre ever. The characters all have such great personalities, they all stand out from one another and the character development is amazing. Something that most zombie films and shows completely ignore.
Honestly I can gloss over many of the mistakes the characters in this show does because they are teenagers. If I was a highschool student and zombie outbreak suddenly happens in my school, ngl I would probably act just like these characters
I kinda have an explanation for the MRI scene. These zombies are really sensitive to extremely loud noises, I've been in MRIs before when I was a teenager and had to have a benign tumor on my wrist checked. It was very upsetting, and this virus has been known to respond to moods.
They really could have gave the mom a better ending than her losing all common sense and running straight to a zombie and still acting confused after she’s attacked.
I guess this is what most parents would do if an actual zombie apocalypse happen. She had no idea how serious it was or what zombies even are. Plus she only knows how to fry chicken, which makes her kinda dumb.
I think she thinks that the gin su is not a zombie or she thinks that gin su is running from zombies... Still if she didn't convert to zombie then the ending must be different
I find it interesting that throwing off the zombies makes them leave you alone in the show considering in the webtoon, it's an immediate point that the zombies latch on to and remember the humans they go after. If they spot a human and chase them, they will ignore other humans to get that one, even if they see them later
Well I think it makes more sense that they changed it, considering the zombies have very bad vision and are much more sensitive to sound, they’d probably just go to whoever is making the most sound or the closest thing they can see
The turn rate changed from the first zombie because it evolved in a span of 24 hours. it would make sense since it's a virus. it rapidly mutates like what you said in the analysis.
@@WowSuchGaming This is my opinion, the teacher's son who is infected is probably in testing stage. That probably is the reason why he is a weak zombie. The mouse was injected with a little dose of the virus and when the student got bit, its DNA and virus combined mutated in the humans body within 24hrs. Since the virus mutated, its effects probably became more potent and infection rate went significantly high but the body was still weak due to medication to delay the transformation. The student was just a training ground for the virus until it is time to spread to another healthy host. Probably the reason why the school doctor was the first to infect faster.
@@WowSuchGaming I think he mutated slowly because of the size of his infection, his scratch was very small compared to everyone else who had massive chunks bitten out
The reason why the infection time is so inconsistent is bc most characters to random ppl the virus is deciding should it take over or not and make you into a Hambie. basically this virus takes over the body based on if you feel fear but if you don't feel fear and you are fearless in the face of death during the infection you'll become a hambie, most of the characters who turned would have become a hambie if they didn't feel fear like that kid that turn bc pink girl was upset with him. He was afraid of being laughed at and the virus enhance that very fear to take over. The director already gave hints on how the hambie works.
I have not seen this movie, but just the idea of being trapped in a cafeteria with a couple of zombies and knowing that you’re probably doomed is terrifying. It reminds me of the second-to-last episode of Midnight Mass, which expertly uses that paranoia and looming fear. If you haven’t watched Midnight Mass or started watching it and stopped, I implore you to finish it. The final 2 episodes are amazing
The reason there is a difference in turning time is because it depends on how scared somebody is, I-sak only turned when it was mentioned she had a bite which makes her life scared, causing her to turn
turn rate depends on where they were bitten.
For the zombies "giving up on their target", I think they can only focus on one certain person/thing so they only go for what they are seeing or hearing at the exact moment
Hence why the PA system was able to distract them, its a new loud sound! And if they can only focus on one thing at a time, it'd make sense they'd get distracted by the most recent "sign of life" they encounter
Makes sense. They’ve got the adrenaline and rage of a juvenile boy losing a CoD match, I can see them not being able to keep everything in mind. They see something, they tunnel vision
Can't believe you didn't add the "solution" they did by tying their hands together when they were unsure if Nam Ra would turn. He said "so she can only bite me" like bro if she bites you and you both turned, that's so useless and stupid, now the entire remaining team has to deal with 2 zombies at the same time. Jeez
@@Sandeep-mu7cd The problem isn't fighting for Nam Ra to stay, but his suggestion of tying their hands together. Cause the point is "if she turns, this is the solution" how is tying your hand with a zombie the solution to the problem? It's just dumb. xD
Just found your channel but I just wanted to say what I love about your commentary so far is that you frequently take off sins when you know something contradicts your past logic or idea of a situation. And it actually makes sense when you both sin or remove it. Subscribed
It bothered me so much bc he simply refused to die and fell from a too high of height to come back healed and I don’t care for the super human healing. Bully was cool, he kept and made the rules of Hamboes, but the class ores girl annoyed me bc her hambie symptoms were purely for plot armour and it didn’t seem to like like her rules stayed consistent of what she could or could not do
I mean I think it's implied the zombies are pretty durable, remember the scene of a bunch of zombies just smashing through windows? It's not like they fell & stopped moving they got back up, sure him getting thrown all the way from the roof is a lot higher than just a floor or a few, but it's not like we haven't seen multiple zombies fall from great heights & be basically fine, at the start we also see the science teachers son literally fall & hit multiple things on the way down & survive, so the zombies aren't gonna die from a fall
When I first watched this, I realized about half way through why they never went for the head, they made it clear that as students, most of them weren't strong enough to pierce the skull, though when you get into the scene where they are on the streets with shovels, you see that now that they have something harder, some can penetrate the skull with enough hits, it takes a lot though.
Nam ra didn't knew she is avoided by zombies She got to know it when in the basketball court where the zombies weren't looking at her but her friends And three reason that she didn't draw the zombies away in the construction site was because she was hungry and weak Imagine yourself in her shoes Your food is in front of you but you can't eat it even though you're starving plus you have to fight as well I think nam ra deserves way better than that, she doesn't deserve to be a hambie Her heart is bigger than mostly humans
I think becoming a halfbie was a little symbolic of the duality of the perceptions of her & the reality. She wasn’t any icy snob, she was lonely & isolated while being put in the class president role yet still being disregarded by her peers.
I will say, having taught in Korea, the obsession with college that Mi-jin exhibited kind of made sense. There is insane pressure throughout a student's entire education to go to college, even more so than in the US. Korean kids from middle to highschool are generally in school and after school classes/tutoring 10-12 hours per day. Plus schools are often open late at night for students to go back and study. That is why a lot of students who may be in the middle-low end would have a lot of animosity towards classmates who can get in for athletics alone. Also, college is seen as a break and time to have fun. Getting in is hard, but once they are there, it is easy comparative to high school. When I would tell my students about highschool in America (Getting out by 3, being in plays, clubs, hanging out with friends, going to parties) they said it sounded so fun like college. Plus, the biggest deciding factor in going to college, and which college, rides on a test given once per year. There are no makeups or options to take multiple tests like with the SAT in the US. During COVID, there had to be special measures enacted so students could take it from their hospital beds. That's also why at the end, you see Mi-jin protesting for special exemptions. She missed her chance to take that test and will have to wait till the following year if she wants to take it again.
Very similar to the situation here in India. I dont like it at all but i was lucky enough to get through the system and am well off but these kinds of systems do need to change, the way US does it sounds more accesible and more opportunistic for everyone to get in, rather than being once a year, mainly focusing on eliminating aspirants sorry went on a tangent here but your explanation really does make sense of her behavior, thanks!
Tyrese's death in twd was actually pretty good considering its implied he's not a fighter, he says as much while hallucinating the radio By saying "Turn it off." He's saying while he understands bad things will always be, he doesn't care and wants off the ride I also like how the radio is talking about things his group either went through or did (Tyrese mentions in the prison that his dad used to make him sit up and listen to 'the bad things' people did on the radio to toughen him up)
I loved that little convoluted spot @8:20 If I had attended that high school back in the day, I would have stayed suspended because I would always stay at that spot and just kick it
I have a theory about Cheong-San making his big sacrifice while somehow not turning: I bet he ended up also being one of the immune ones, but due to taking Gwi-Nam with him he ended up killing Gwi-Nam and himself.
I agree. They mentioned that what makes a hambie is someone who isn't gripped by fear before they die and has a willingness to survive. That was Cheong San, like EunJi and Gwi-Nam. He's a hambie and I think (with some plot armour) he's still alive with the other hambies.
@@angiemono8539 Possibly... Eun-Ji mentions not being able to smell/sense (can't remember the exact words she used) Cheong San anymore, but it's possible he could have somehow lived and escaped (given that the zombies he lured would have cushioned his fall). Though I feel like he would have met up with Eun-Ji after everything went down. We'll just have to wait and see.
You've missed some things, the whole reason later when they get the laptop & then ditch the students is because they find out about being asymptomatic, so they can't risk having more outbreaks (but also you'd think they'd also check for bite marks), a reason why the soldiers didn't think nam ra was infected is the other students prolly wouldn't keep someone bitten around them
plus the symptomatic zombies had way lower temperature, like, cold to the touch, nam-ra temperature was just 2 or 3 degrees lower than the rest of the group so it's totally reasonable they thinking she just had a hypothermia
It was stupid because the soldiers still went back to town to rescue civilians but somehow they thought the students were sus for being alive smh the show has bad writing all over the place
@@mobious01 well actually when the brought the 1 bullied kid they thought he was the last survivor, they went back because the detective was told by the teacher the laptop was at the school, because the infected girl was from the same school they played it safe by leaving them behind, it's not bad writing since the show would've just ended there & would've been pretty boring after everything that already happened. Yeah, as they were discussing the toilet situation, I just noticed the garbage bin right behind the character and just thought "they're gonna use that right?" but no, they're gonna build a weird toilet to squat over and fabric to soak up the feces?
@@puppyenemy not to mention they were complaining about being thirsty yet there was a kettle behind them that no one bothered to check. Nor did they look in any of the drawers for food or supplies
The fact that they just dismissed the fat guy's idea to use the window was so infuriating. They didn't even have the guys decide to pee out the window, since that was absolutely an easy option for them.
I think that the virus's infection time, from when someone is bit and when they turn, isn't fully just because it works for the plot. After all it is still a virus, and has an incubation rate that can vary between each person. It can still feel convenient at times but I don't think it takes away too much from the show.
This is not a cinema sins parody, you provide honest, and thoughtful criticism that give me the impression you actually watched the movie before reviewing it

8:10 I think I kinda understand what the truck driver was thinking in his final moments. He probably knew that the school was fucking over run and he was most likely trying to take out a good number of zombies before he turns so instead of dealing with 5 zombies they only have to deal with 1
Well I knew when one of the characters early in the Show actually jokes “It’s Train To BUSAN” that they were breaking the ZOMBIE conventional “ Third wall” ! I love it though , love the mix of high school romantic angst and Zombie mayhem! Very well done , loved the series.
I was honestly waiting for you to cover this. There was WAY too many stuff that could be avoided and honestly after I watched this the first thing that came in mind was you making a long video about everything wrong with this series.
@ilikebacon “people think they’re bad and can kill anyone…no” EXACTLY 😭😭 I always yell at the characters to just kill the zombies already while watching zombie movies knowing damn well I’d freeze up if the same thing happened to me 😭😭
@@thewanderingronin1924 not necessarily. people react differently in different situations. it's easy to say that because we're not the ones in those situations, but people can freeze in life threatening situations and be in such state of shock that they're not able to do anything. it's frustrating when you're watching a show yes, but it's realistic, especially if it's people you know and care about. you're not gonna be so quick to kill them, you're probably gonna be in denial first and try out other things. it's not just about killing and surviving, you have to live with the guilt of taking someone's life, even if they were a threat to you, it's still hard to deal with and it's a lot of trauma, depending on how each person deals with it.
There are so many "Thats Convenient" "Thats Inconvenient" "Thats Dramatic" But the only thing I don't agree with, is you not removing the sin for the Knife Throw when in the next episode it shows that the knife didn't even hit him right

I think that the reason Hyeon-Ju {Hamster bite girl} was able to not turn was because of all the drugs in her system. When he thought she was turning he just put more and more drugs in her to 'slow down the process'. That was also a reason as too what if she was trying to scream for help, he put more drugs in her. The more and more drugs in her system proved that she wouldn't turn. And besides it was a hamster bit. A very small bite like a paper cute so I doubt it even entered her system throughout the night because of how small and how many drugs were in her system. Also I think a lot of these characters were just put there for some character develop for the 4 main characters, the main 2 being Nam On-jo {the main girl who confesses to the turned good jock}, Lee Cheong-san {Inlove with main girl for some godforsaken reason}, then the ones who were main character, main character plot. The jock turned good and the class president. It really shows how the show mainly cares not about the complexity of the show but more of the 'love' triangle between the befriends and the Jock that then got ruined because of the class president. This show was all over the place but does that mean that it wasn't executed well? Not at all, this show is a great coming of age zombie series. It talks about love interest, horror, real life mistakes, and bulling. Its a show i would watch when I'm bored or am just in the mood. So far id say the rating is 7.3/10. It had great qualities, the friendships between the main characters befriends and there death was well done it showed character growth a little as well. But a lot of it was all over the place and it really gets your skin to peel off in annoyment with how much it focuses on the love between these teens and less about the zombies. It had great character development but some characters just annoyed me till the very end and had little to no growth. But the show teaches you lessons and it has beautiful scenes and structure that just gets you hooked.
The actress who played Nayeon that character's defense, saying that (rough translation; I found it online and I don't speak Korean) Nayeon was someone actually devoted to what she feels in the moment. She also said that Na Yeon is appearing below strain, in an excessive scenario. People behave in a different way when they’re desperately making an attempt to outlive and that her need to live was expressed differently. Personally, I didn't like her to begin with, and while Na Yeon's actress said that if people hate her character, it means she did a good job, I'm still not a fan of the character. Seriously, NO WEAPON AT ANY POINT with ALL THAT MATERIAL?! Fun fact: if Nayeon looks familiar to you, it's because the actress who played her, Lee Yoo Mi, was also in Squid Game
She really is a versatile actress : ). Fun fact: both squid game and all of us are dead are filmed in 2020 and lee yoo mi had to switch places back and forth.
the writer actually said that he wrote a ton of backstories for her character. i feel like if they had shown some of her backtory other than her being from a rich family it would be easier to sympathize with her. i don't think people would like her character either way because she isn't a character to just "be liked", but you can dislike a character and still empathize with them if they're well written. with her it was hard to empathize because she was just demanding from the start and we weren't given an explanation as to why she's this way so in the viewer's eyes she's just an annoying brat and no one cares if she dies.
If she claimed there where was an armed attacker then the fire department would have called the police and the police would have a high chance of dismissing it as a prank, due to having already gotten multiple calls regarding zombies from that same location. The fire department haven't heard anything yet, so it's best to just get them to come immediately. Also I'd say the patient zero girl weaving in and out of her zombie fugue is consistent with the son, so I think we can infer that the virus has some trouble taking over humans when making the first jump from rat to person. Also, it's not like people react to viral infections in real life with 100% consistency either, I've always found it weird when people treat differing zombie incubation times, as plot holes. As for the Coach not hiding his bite, it's entirely possible that he just didn't realize he was bitten. People have gotten stabbed repeatedly, without feeling a thing. ---- Also Preemptively killing infected people before they turn encourages people to hide their bites instead of come clean. Not to mention it's probably just way harder, psychologically, to kill someone who hasn't turned yet.
And after hambies are established, there is the chance that someone will turn into one of them rather than a full-blown zombie. Sure, it's a risk to wait out the turn, but there is the chance to get a powerful ally out of it, so I would understand if some people got tied up after they got bit to see which way they go.
@@jacobodell5231 my exact thoughts every single time someone got bitten. Glad to see I wasn’t alone, I’d do the exact same. You’d gain a powerful ally who can detect crowds of infected to let you avoid them, and clear houses and such to get supplies or be a safe zone, they are literal cheat codes because they have super strength too.
Regarding the "fire" call on their emergency hotline. I have read somewhere that during emergencies, yelling fire actually has the best chances that somebody would respond. This was actually smart on On-jo.
I figured it was the military performing a mini coup. It wasn’t about quarantine, it was about stopping anyone with authority from questioning their dumb ideas like eliminating all communication in a place where survivors are desperately trying to reveal their hiding places to search and rescue operations without being bitten. Or poking holes in their bomb the zombies plan. It was a mostly competent plan if killling zombies is the only goal, but how exactly did they expect people to escape their hiding places to take that shelter demanded of them without being killed by zombies?
They probably wanted to keep her separated since she was a Government official and probably would’ve started a mini riot because people would be wondering why she’s there instead of helping citizens.
Asian society’s are very different then ours, 2 years in Korea and I never saw a pregnant teen and class difference are huge, the poor are looked down on and harassed if they step out of line. Image is everything in thier country’s
You do have to give them major cred for their tense run scenes. The unreal reactions of Cheong-San is incredible. And he makes it so fluid in the moment. It’s beautiful
Gwi-nam didn't stab him in the back when he threw the knife. That episode ended on a cliffhanger but the next episode shows the knife bounced off his back.
something I must point out that is easily forgotten. The virus reacts to strong emotions like fear or anger. that's why some students/teachers took different timing to turn.
The reason I think the driver wasn't driving away from the school is that I think he got bitten by someone on the outside while driving toward the school - because one of the buildings near the school was currently under construction and thus, in need of materials. The truck scene was super creepy to me because it was showing that the infection was already spreading on the outside as well - the tiniest hint that they're already too late to get help.
Two issues they did show the hambies were indeed affected by the sound And her dad sacrificed himself cuz he was bitten so he was already dead before he locked them out
Apparently, South Korea has a really bad and intense bullying issue so the bullying that you see in the show really isn’t surprising and it’s pretty normal to them so it’s normal that a lot of the characters are being such bad people or at least the bullies are because that’s how they really are irl. It’s not just a “character” that they’re playing. It’s real life people that act like that.
There are two distinction to hambies. 1. Immortal: They are real half zombies that are very aggressive every time and can infect others. Ex. The bully and the bullied girl. 2. Immune: They are actually immune to the disease and they can not infect others. Ex. Class Pres. This is an information straight from the director.
@@intricateanalysis1779 if their immune then how do they turn into halfbies? To be immune is to not get infected by what you're suppossed to be immune too. And the phone girl and the bully we're acting quite immoral. Arent all the halfbies immortal as they share the same powerset?
The whole her hating him for being poor thing is how alot of peopel act here ive lived here for seven years and the issue with the cops and force multipliers is that they need permission from higher officials to use them unless total war breaks out.
I don’t know why everyone is aspecting the main characters to make rational decisions while they are fighting for their lives and experiencing the trauma of other people dying in front of them, it’s more realistic for them to spend time making decisions and panic rather than do the best thing in that moment
My problem with korean zombies so far is that any melee weapon, unless it's extremely sharp, feel like they're made out of paper. They were using metal bats!
tbf the zombies in this are shown to be more durable than regular decomposing corpses and like half of the cast are skinny kids who don't have a whole lot of strength
There were quite a few moments where I paused and discussed with my wife the problems and changing of rules throughout the series. That said we loved this series, Korean media executes emotional dramas and zombies very well.
@@wojtek9675 exactly... he already knows that the flares are effective in distracting the zombies but he took so long that a zombie finally caught up with him... why didn't he just run after throwing a fucking flare lol
For the turn time, I just thought that as it get further away from the source, the virus mutates to become faster. Also, the virus reacts to fear, so as long as people stay calm-ish, they don't turn right away. I actually think the turn times make sense.
Might be worth noting that not only do fire fighters receive a LOT of various training (especially if also assigned to special teams like swift water rescue) & that character was an officer so he’s been in the FD for decades, he’s an outdoorsman & had done his conscripted military service in spec ops. That’s a wealth of knowledge, demanding training & experience to draw from when fighting to get to his child.
I think the inconsistent turning into an infected depends on where the bite and it's distance to the brain Usually zombie virus always Took control the brain, hence the aggressiveness, like the student bitten by the nurse in the neck, it took 30 seconds before turning and the PE teacher who took longer to turn along with the Girl that was bitten in the leg It's just my perspective on the matter though 🤔🤔
I think it's a combination of bite location/amount of exposure, emotional state during said infection, and just plane genetics. I've never understood why people scrutinize turn-speed inconsistencies, when people react differently to viral infection IRL too.
@@theguileraven7014 the main reason it gets scrutinised is because they start turning when it's super convenient for the plot most of the time. example teacher gets in room and only starts turning after they notice his bite mark or main characters being bitten but managing to stay normal for a long time despite everyone else turning in a few seconds/ minutes.
@@666FallenShadow I mean... yes, that's how stories are written. Stuff, especially coincidental or relative stuff, happens when the author needs it to, for maximum emotional impact. This entire story exists solely for the plot. It still made sense to me though. The way I saw it, the virus responded strongly to fear - the more fear, the faster you turn. The first victims turned faster because the situation was completely new to them, so the fear was stronger. The main characters had survived longer and gotten used to a constant level of fear from seeing and fighting the zombies. It was when they themselves realized they were becoming zombies (or in the teacher's case, when he was afraid of being discovered), that the fear increased past that again and triggered the change.
@@irisa198 if a story relies too heavily on coincidences and convenient timing, that's bad writing. the suspension of disbelief flies out the window and the story itself becomes predictable. i do however agree with your idea about how the virus works. it really does seem that the emotional state of a character does affect how fast they turn.
I found it so annoying that the blood on their clothes didn't turn brown after a few hours. It is such an easy detail to add that i think broke the "professionality" of the show...
I feel like they do that in Korean shows to avoid the gore? Idk but I’ve seen it a few times now, the blood is always very pinkish and doesn’t turn darker… doesn’t make sense bc there are lots of other gore
How long does that take because the show mostly takes place in like 4 days, sure maybe by the 2nd day their clothes should be all brown but maybe they didn't want characters running around in brown stained clothes like they have shit smeared on them
This is one of those shows I can point out flaws but I love it so much and I don’t care… and even for teenagers who know about zombies I can’t say I wouldnt act the same in this situation
This is one of the best shows I have seen. It so damn entertaining and characters are good. It keeps you interested start to finish. Never dips in quality. I hope S2 comes soon
at 1:07-1:08 on-jo sees her dad is bite through the gate after he closes the door to the tennis courts. It wasn't a stupid, "i must be a hero" death, he was already going to turn so he caused a distraction rather than turning out in the open around the kids.
I'm very late to the party, but I gotta tell you there's a good reason firefighters are better at fighting than the beat cops. Many Korean firefighters are former special forces. In fact, it's one of the most popular choices for retiring special forces. They might not have practiced combat in a while, but some of these guys had spent a decade being a SEAL or something like that. Meanwhile, former spec ops guys will almost go exclusively for SWAT teams if they chose to pursue a law enforcement career.
During that fight where the arrow girls brother dies, im surprised you didnt mention how much class president stopped for dramatic effect after she would kill a zombie instead of going ham and taking out a good amount of the zombies attacking them.
I thought the same thing but in fairness, since they went out of their way to show she ran off to not eat her friends you could chalk up that moment to her internally wrestling with her increasing urges.
I'll reconmend reading All of us are dead on Webtoon first as i did before watching this. Some stuff in the comic made way more sense like you find out the origin of the zombie virus and the characters arent as stupid as in the tv show but that's my opinion. @@tinfin7965 Yes, the story was originally created in 2009. Though I do enjoy the Netflix adaptation of it, I'm still annoyed of some several issues in it and how the series drastically changed some things from the Webtoon like the love square situation. I honestly don't feel sorry for the teacher, she should've just let Na-yeon go because she was obviously and utterly in the wrong. fun fact! there was a theory that On-jo was actually the first hambie, but the reason she didn’t go feral like Gwi-nam or Nam-ra is because, instead of being bitten like them, she was only scratched by Hyeon-ju at the beginning. this kinda explains the reason why, in the lunchroom scene, the first zombie just kinda “smells”(i don’t rlly know what he does lol) her rather than attacking her, and why the hamster doesn’t bite her ankle while they’re in the science lab. also, I-sak does rush towards her when she becomes infected, but that could’ve just been because she was attracted to the sound, not because she was attacking her.

Nam ra could have definitely solved a lot of issues. She was a halfbie and therefore zombies wouldn't really go after her. So why the hell didn't she just go out first and distract the zombies with loud noises while the others got away?
They didn't really have any proof that it worked that way, at least until later.
It's because she didn't know they wouldn't eat her
I was thinking of that too until i found out
Well, she couldn't have known immediately.
Except for the archery girl and dude. Arrows go BRRRRR
I’m just a coward. Zombies are terrifying.

@@cercethyhyh6796 its mentioned in the series that theyre attracted to sounds..

Also about the “immune” people, we were told before the apocalypse that the will of the virus is stronger than the will of the host which is why it takes over, so when the girl and mully got bit they had a goal stronger than the virus, as for prez her situation is just stupid

That actually makes a lot of sense and honestly adds uniqueness to it
That’s why jin su only went for the main bully and gwi-nam instead of hyeong-ju and chang-hoon

3: Help who you can, you never know who has skills or knowledge that cane save you
4: Learn what kind of zombies you are dealing with and how the infection spreads

@@seasonedlobster3584saaame. Until today I always thought it was somehow an stupid and unnecessary "sacrifice".
This show could have a 100k sins and it would still be one of my favorite additions to the zombie genre ever. The characters all have such great personalities, they all stand out from one another and the character development is amazing. Something that most zombie films and shows completely ignore.
Really? I think the characters are mostly stupid as hell.
Facts
Except for the surviving pink sweater girl, I don’t know how she survived when she had no plot whatsoever
finally one of the positive comments
its the gore in it was next to none. very beautiful show
Honestly I can gloss over many of the mistakes the characters in this show does because they are teenagers. If I was a highschool student and zombie outbreak suddenly happens in my school, ngl I would probably act just like these characters
1:15 there was actually a dark thing that covered the box and it was in his lab and no student should enter it without permissiom
Right? I stopped watching after that 😶 So many dumb decisions were made. I still wanted to know how it ended, hence why I'm here. 😅
Most korean movies are dumb. Can't stand them lol.
Yeah cheong san probably would have been less willing to sacrifice himself and therefore may have lived if she didn’t do that
I find it interesting that throwing off the zombies makes them leave you alone in the show considering in the webtoon, it's an immediate point that the zombies latch on to and remember the humans they go after. If they spot a human and chase them, they will ignore other humans to get that one, even if they see them later
@Music Freak an online comic. All of us are dead.
@@vindric8330 Now at our school.
Well I think it makes more sense that they changed it, considering the zombies have very bad vision and are much more sensitive to sound, they’d probably just go to whoever is making the most sound or the closest thing they can see
They reserved that trait just for Gwinam.
@@99pinkii_ss wow someone really lives under a rock good one. hope you have a time out of the cave
The turn rate changed from the first zombie because it evolved in a span of 24 hours. it would make sense since it's a virus. it rapidly mutates like what you said in the analysis.
I'd agree if the poor kid didn't mutate so slowly versus everyone else
I just assumed that it was the injection that the teacher gave the girl that slowed the infection.
@@WowSuchGaming the injection sir, it was able to delay the transformation but not Forever
Benzodiazepines slowed the infection down due to it helping with anxiety and seizures
Also their vision is really bad and they don’t have a thought process of their own
Makes sense.
Jeez
Su hyeok thought that gwi nam was human and nam ra got a human bite apart from that, would you just let your loved ones go??
@@Sandeep-mu7cd The problem isn't fighting for Nam Ra to stay, but his suggestion of tying their hands together. Cause the point is "if she turns, this is the solution" how is tying your hand with a zombie the solution to the problem? It's just dumb. xD
@@rhiannaamrou102 everyone were nervous and you know that su hyeok is a simp
Su Hyeok tied his hand with Namra so that she won't attack others when she turns, and if she bites him, they'll fall together through the open window.

Just found your channel but I just wanted to say what I love about your commentary so far is that you frequently take off sins when you know something contradicts your past logic or idea of a situation. And it actually makes sense when you both sin or remove it. Subscribed
Dunno if everyone noticed, but Gwi-nam (the bully) getting thrown out from high places and surviving is essentially the show's running gag.
@@RaifuEnthusiast Damn these zombies are more resilient than the ones from LEFT 4 DEAD
Nam ra didn't knew she is avoided by zombies
She got to know it when in the basketball court where the zombies weren't looking at her but her friends
And three reason that she didn't draw the zombies away in the construction site was because she was hungry and weak
Imagine yourself in her shoes
Your food is in front of you but you can't eat it even though you're starving plus you have to fight as well
I think nam ra deserves way better than that, she doesn't deserve to be a hambie
Her heart is bigger than mostly humans
True
I think becoming a halfbie was a little symbolic of the duality of the perceptions of her & the reality. She wasn’t any icy snob, she was lonely & isolated while being put in the class president role yet still being disregarded by her peers.
@@SuperLadyDanger not only disregarded but disrespected too
@@Sandeep-mu7cd I agree with that.
Yeah would’ve been better to make Suhyeok the hambie
As ignorant on korean culture as I am, I Kind of assumed that based on stereotypes, ngl
Very similar to the situation here in India. I dont like it at all but i was lucky enough to get through the system and am well off but these kinds of systems do need to change, the way US does it sounds more accesible and more opportunistic for everyone to get in, rather than being once a year, mainly focusing on eliminating aspirants
sorry went on a tangent here but your explanation really does make sense of her behavior, thanks!
Tyrese's death in twd was actually pretty good considering its implied he's not a fighter, he says as much while hallucinating the radio
By saying "Turn it off." He's saying while he understands bad things will always be, he doesn't care and wants off the ride
I also like how the radio is talking about things his group either went through or did (Tyrese mentions in the prison that his dad used to make him sit up and listen to 'the bad things' people did on the radio to toughen him up)
I loved that little convoluted spot @8:20
If I had attended that high school back in the day, I would have stayed suspended because I would always stay at that spot and just kick it
I have a theory about Cheong-San making his big sacrifice while somehow not turning: I bet he ended up also being one of the immune ones, but due to taking Gwi-Nam with him he ended up killing Gwi-Nam and himself.
Though I feel like he would have met up with Eun-Ji after everything went down.

the virus feasts on the victim's fear right? so that means people who are fearless dont get infected and can possibly turn into hambies
They spent more time making that toilet than creating weapons. That's definitely a sin

Words cannot describe how jarring this turn is-
The Dad was already bitten. That is why he sacrificed himself.
Thank you.finaly someone pointed that out
The actress who played Nayeon that character's defense, saying that (rough translation; I found it online and I don't speak Korean) Nayeon was someone actually devoted to what she feels in the moment.
Bless her, I know she's just an actress but holy shit did I hate her character. But much love to the actress herself for doing such a great job.
Lee Yoo-Mi was incredible. I praise her as an actress.
She really is a versatile actress : ).
Fun fact: both squid game and all of us are dead are filmed in 2020 and lee yoo mi had to switch places back and forth.
watch her in the movie “Young Adult Matters”.
the writer actually said that he wrote a ton of backstories for her character. i feel like if they had shown some of her backtory other than her being from a rich family it would be easier to sympathize with her. i don't think people would like her character either way because she isn't a character to just "be liked", but you can dislike a character and still empathize with them if they're well written. with her it was hard to empathize because she was just demanding from the start and we weren't given an explanation as to why she's this way so in the viewer's eyes she's just an annoying brat and no one cares if she dies.
----
Also Preemptively killing infected people before they turn encourages people to hide their bites instead of come clean.
-10x1000 sins because props to the camera man for not getting bitten, getting killed by an explosion, getting shot and for the close-ups
It's crazy that they let eunji walk around freely while THE COUNCIL LADY AND HER TEAM ARE QUARANTINED AND THEY GOT THERE BEFORE HER!!

> Spend most of time arguing to each other
They did use " any tool to defend themselves" it was just inconsistencies and infuriating.
Once they discovered that the zombies are attracted to sound mostly, they could've taken advantage of that so much more.
3:51 It was bc she was given injections by Dr. Lee while that female doctor didn't got any medical treatment
I think the inconsistent turning into an infected depends on where the bite and it's distance to the brain
Usually zombie virus always Took control the brain, hence the aggressiveness, like the student bitten by the nurse in the neck, it took 30 seconds before turning and the PE teacher who took longer to turn along with the Girl that was bitten in the leg
It's just my perspective on the matter though 🤔🤔
I think it's a combination of bite location/amount of exposure, emotional state during said infection, and just plane genetics.
I've never understood why people scrutinize turn-speed inconsistencies, when people react differently to viral infection IRL too.
This one most likely achieved its effecrs through hormones so not directly invading the brain but similar
13:44 those doors are not hinged. They are sliding doors that move in channels. Easier to take off than hinged ones.
I kind of like it. I think it's kind of a Korean tv trademark for all blood to look more theatrical rather than realistic.
@@Hannah-ux6sy the whole show is gore lol
How long does that take because the show mostly takes place in like 4 days, sure maybe by the 2nd day their clothes should be all brown but maybe they didn't want characters running around in brown stained clothes like they have shit smeared on them
I remember seeing the trailer and one of the students says “this is like train to busan” way to go zombie show for recommending other zombie media
Not even bit by the virus but the anger and frustration I felt watching this series felt like I was
This is one of those shows I can point out flaws but I love it so much and I don’t care… and even for teenagers who know about zombies I can’t say I wouldnt act the same in this situation
You're just gonna ignore the sin you added because the bully throws the knife to cheong su's back? The knife didn't stab him in the back.
Because as emotionelss as nam-ra sometimes seems being in her situation has to be really fucking weird.
I thought the same thing but in fairness, since they went out of their way to show she ran off to not eat her friends you could chalk up that moment to her internally wrestling with her increasing urges.
@@Shinbunshii its the way it was shot. Idk how to explain it but its a typical thing movies and shows do
Nam ra zombie instant some time kick out, so she was dealing with the virus inside her
I'll reconmend reading All of us are dead on Webtoon first as i did before watching this. Some stuff in the comic made way more sense like you find out the origin of the zombie virus and the characters arent as stupid as in the tv show but that's my opinion. Either way it is great to see more Korean dramas get made :)
There is a comic? i wasn't aware thanks for the info :)
@@tinfin7965 Yes, the story was originally created in 2009. Though I do enjoy the Netflix adaptation of it, I'm still annoyed of some several issues in it and how the series drastically changed some things from the Webtoon like the love square situation. That didn't even happen in the original but I guess the writer wanted to sprinkle some "teen drama".
@@Love_Dearly Fair enough I'll check it out thanks for the info.
@@Love_Dearly I'm very late to the comment thread, but I just wanna say this is giving me some Sweet Home flashbacks. Granted, I haven't read the webtoon and gave up on the show halfway, so it's just an impression.
@@tinfin7965 it's called "today at our school"
Dude is awesome in the way that he's willing to create content even though he's on break, just awsome.
absolutely dying at the fallout references, sole survivor absolutely floored me. also comparing the policeman as frank west, in love with all your references. your videos are top notch quality 10/10
Anyone else notice that the zombie that grabed the virus creator's right hand at 28:50 wasnt even biting him it was just shaking its head😂😂
