    I hear you, I’m sorry for clickbaiting non-binary/asexual people. I thought it would be more obvious that I was joking and am, of course, supportive... but I was wrong. Especially with many trans creators attempting to invalidate non-binary and asexual identities, it was insensitive.
    I love you all so so much, you’ll always be supported here 💚

    That answer about "faking it" really hit close home, ive always been a sports person, i have practiced most sports and always loved exercising, probably why no one believed i wasnt a man, that i am a woman, somehow people had the idea that i was some kind of "alpha male", so when i transitioned i was very meticulous not to do what i used to, i tried dressing up the best i could and tried to learn make up, but for the love of me, im just not good at fashion, so finally i gave up and decided to be comfortable with myself. I still get called out for being "too manly" but thats just because society still has very narrow descriptions of what women and men should be.

    • @jokl89
      @jokl89 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      This is a late reply.. I’m a cis woman who has been called manly or boy in a demeaning way. I like my unisex clothing and while I have long hair now I urgently need a haircut & prefer short hair. Fuck stereotypes, you’re my sister & we can be as ‚feminine‘ and as ‚masculine‘ as we like, doesn’t make us less of a woman. It makes me sad that many trans woman feel like they need to confirm to unrealistic ‘womanly’ expectations.

    • @vanessamaldonado5877
      @vanessamaldonado5877 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@jokl89 Thank you and yes, unfortunately even in 2021 we as a society still have an outdated vision of men/women, and for trans women not conforming to the hyper feminine standards can be deadly as we have seen with all the killings of trans ppl in the US so far, not to mention it puts cis women at risk of both discrimination and violence, from TERFs who want to turn away butch women from bathrooms claiming they are "men" and from other transphobes who commit violence on women who look even remotely "trans", like the woman beat outside a bar in the UK recently. Transphobia is just a form of misoginy.

      I can’t help but think maybe Yankees (and perhaps Brits?) are misunderstanding this 😂 the gritty is thought to perhaps refer to grits but that’s it.
      Grits are a food we still eat today 🤷🏾‍♀️ the phrase’s first usage (that we know of) was in 1934 and came from the jazz scene. [see: etymologies provided by online dictionaries that are researched and managed by lexicographers & other linguists]*
      It breaks my heart that we may lose this phrase due to disinformation and misinformation, but I also understand our language is alive and always evolving. I can just hope that most of the changes are for the better and not simply because “I saw it online and used zero critical thinking skills”. 🙈

    imagine not supporting asexual people, how is that even a question. Oh no there's a person who isnt sexually attracted to someone, they shouldnt be allowed to exist. Like what? • @Calldumb
      @Calldumb 4 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      from what i gather from interactions w acephobes it's that they think being ace and being straight are the same thing😔 genuinely don't understand their reasoning, like, how would someone who for example is ace and aro be straight?? there's no hetero at all in that equation?? like ofc you can be ace and heteroromantic in the same way someone could be bisexual and heteroromantic, but bisexuality is a sexuality in its own right regardless of the romantic attraction involved and so is asexuality??

    • @frida5680
      @frida5680 4 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Someone told me that asexuality is not a real orientation because not wanting sex is just a preference and asexuals are just trying to be special

    • @papkinn
      @papkinn 4 ปีที่แล้ว +21

      A lot of people hates on heteroromantic aces because they "can pass as straight" what is just... so *so* disgusting, imagine telling anyone they should stay in the closet.
      People in community started to measure validation in amount of suffering you came through while this is not only wrong but also ignorant, a lot of people don't bother to ask ace people about their traumas and just assume we all have it so easy and great because we can just "not have sex" like we're not living in hypersexual world where everything is about sex.
      We're being sexually abused, forced to take expensive treatments and therapies, excluded from both cishets and LGBTQ+ community, being pressured into sex and told our comfort doesn't matter etc. that's a lot of trauma and sure it's not the same as trans or gay people's but it doesn't erase it, hell if we want to argue every group experiences different type of hardships, very person experienced it somehow differently because we're not all the same and all from same city.
      People refuses to educate themselves and end up hating on group they don't understand, the ironic part a lot of time is group who received the same treatment from cishets does the same to others in safe space they created to escape just that.
      If you're an LGBTQ+ person or an ally and you refuse to educate yourself on topics of sexual and romantic orientations because you hate idea of someone being different... can you actually call yourself progressive and open-minded? Because for me it sounds like an opposite.

      My spouse is ace/demi. We were friends for about a year before we started dating, but before that, he hadn't had a physical relationship with anyone for maybe 6-7 years because he simply wasn't interested. For whatever reason, this fact came up during the first conversation we ever had when a (former) mutual friend introduced us. Former Friend said something like, "[Blank] doesn't have sex! Tell him he should have sex!" And I was like, "Uh, that's his business, he can do whatever he wants." My spouse needs a serious emotional connection with someone before their physical/sexual attractiveness even enters his brain. A lot of people think that's weird and some people think it's Ok to comment on it, even to a stranger. *It's not.* Just because Former Friend couldn't imagine a life without sex doesn't mean my spouse - or anyone who falls under the ace umbrella - is weird, wrong, confused, or nonexistent. Okokok, getting down off my soap box now...

I was never really accepted or believable as a boy and started living as a girl at 15 (except for the school thing - who ever heard of kids publicly transitioning back then?) but I couldn't start HRT until the summer before my senior year of HS in 1972 when I was 17. Things were a little trickier in the past and I didn't have SRS until 1977 when I was 22. I've had a wonderful and amazing life and am happy and healthy to this day.

    Samantha, I want to take a moment to thank you. I’m not proud to say this but I used to be pretty transphobic. I always saw myself as a big ally for the LGBT community, but I regarded trans people differently. Even today I still struggle with biases I held for so many years. Watching your content has taught me a lot, and now I’m so much more accepting. I feel like a better person because of it. It's most likely a false etymology. People say that it's a derivative of a french word "nigritique" but I haven't found any information supporting this as factual. The first time the word was recorded in print point towards the word's origins coming from African American writing. If anyone has any conclusive evidence from old print on the word origins being french and not African American, I would like to read up on this possible etymology from other's sources :)
