Are we really surprised at this point?? It's really common for transgender people to have to deal with transphobic outbursts from people they've dated/are dating. Usually, these outbursts are consequences of toxic masculinity (which pressures men to reclaim their toughness in situations where they feel it's been threatened or questioned). This is why trans women are murdered by men who've cat-called or flirted with them before realizing their trans identity, or by past lovers who feel guilty for being intimate with a transperson. I'm not saying that's what happened here, but I definitely think his reaction is due to toxic masculinity in some aspect, at least.

Some are trans curious they want to know what its like but once they get turned down their pride gets hurt because their entitlement makes them think you owe them your body because they paid you attention (life of a female).
Some genuinely dont care, like I think in this situation. But once their pride or feelings get hurt they attack, they use whatever they think you might be self concious about. So if you're trans they throw being trans in your face. If you once told them you were insecure about your nose, they throw that in your face, if they think you're insecure about your looks suddently you'll be ugly. Its just a way of hurting the person because they cant handle rejection. I dont think this is a transwoman situation because it sounds like what most chicks go through. Especially when dealing with the classic college frat boy personality type. But yeah ita just a way to hurt the person or make them self concious or feel bad.
I would say men are like this with pretty much everything lol. I am a bigger, curvier girl and guys will say that like that until I reject them and then suddenly i’m unattractive and fat lol. Obviously a girl who is trans and mine are a very different but it’s just a huge level of immaturity in men.

I was sitting with a transgender friend at a coffee shop and there was a guy hitting on her really hard. She's trying to be polite with conversation, but he's asking her all sorts of personal questions, "where do you work, where are you from, what things do you like to do, do you hang at any clubs?" clearly wanting to hook-up. She learned long ago that it was best to casually drop something about being transgender into the conversation for the least amount of grief, so when he asked something about physical fitness ("do you do yoga" or something similar), she responded, "well, when I was living as a boy, I used to like baseball, but I've kind of outgrown that. Well, outgrown both baseball AND being a boy" with a small laugh. He stared blankly at her for about 20 or 30 seconds as his mind processed what she said before suddenly fumbling in his pocket for change. He looked at us like "I'll be right back", proceeded to buy a cup of coffee at the counter and then headed straight out the door. We never laughed so hard, his reaction was absolutely priceless!!

Pretty much, it's because not dating trans people ENTIRELY just means you're treating us worse.
My ex (we were together for 5 years) at first said he was okie with the fact that i am non binary and pansexual, but then we were fighting 3 months ago and he told me to "go to therapy to fix myself" meaning he doesn't like that im non binary. You are amazing and you inspire me to be myself and I love you for that. You will find someone who will accept you.
Same happened with me but with being polyamorous. I'm perfectly capable of being monogamous but I wanted it to be a sort of open conversation I could have with my then-partner, and he said he was comfortable with it but clearly wasn't. Figured out I was non binary a couple months after so it was probably a blessing to have got the breakup out of the way by then

In my opinion it is very common when ppl are hurt to lash out and say whatever they can think of to hurt the person who hurt them. Obviously if someone is transgender then that would be a point of attack to hurt them. Does that make it right? No. However I don't necessarily think that for certain makes him transphobic. Chances are he probably doesn't even mean the things he said about her but had said them in the heat of the moment. I think we also need to take the level of maturity here into consideration and the fact that they were drunk and high majority of the time in this story.

She decided to be a petty bitch simply because a friends with benefits relationship that only took place during bouts of intoxication at a few parties didn't end up becoming serious. He stuck up for her and was nice to her and never said a bad word about her even when his friends gave him a hard time. Literally for no reason at all other than to hurt him. She also seems to be quite proud of this. Of course he's going to lash out at her. This is just common sense. They're both immature and it shows. This has nothing to do with "weakness", assertion of dominance or anything to do with transphobia. This is just how immature teenagers deal with their problems because they have yet to developed the maturity and control over their emotions required to think rationally in these situations. Obviously being intoxicated doesn't help this. This guy just said whatever he could think of in the heat of the moment to hurt her after she clearly went out of her way to hurt him for no reason.

I had a bf (who is now my husband, he didn’t care that I went) and this dude asked me to come up to his room and he’d give me a bottle of grey goose. I went, and talked. He handed me the bottle, I dipped and got a free ass bottle of booze 😂

why is it so difficult for people to understand that accepting someone for being trans only when it benefits you IS contributing to transphobia. he turned around and brought up you being trans when it had absolutely nothing to do with anything and threw it in your face in hopes of hurting you. you can’t accept someone and take it back. you accept them and then it’s off the table. if someone being trans comes to your mind as a revenge factor or an insult, your internalized transphobia is showing and you should rethink what you’re about to say. literally insult them in any other way if you MUST be an asshole. just don’t comment on them being trans or deadname them or out them.
The thing is, it's just one of those things that you say when you're in the heat of the moment and you're just grasping to find the worst possible thing you can hurl at someone that you think is going to cut deep. I'm not condoning or defending the things that he said, but I question whether or not this was a true display of transphobia or if it was simply an embarrassed fuckboi throwing as low of a blow as he could muster because he was pissed off about being put on blast. Good chance he didn't actually mean what he said or he wouldn't have entertained her in the first place, but when you know sensitive information about someone and you know they're insecure about it, often that's the first thing you use against them when you're trying to make them hurt. Let's say she wasn't trans, but she was a recovering heroin addict, the texts would have read like "fuck you, why don't you go shoot some dope you scumbag". I don't think that would necessarily make the guy 'addictphobic', just a fucking asshole.

@@adamwillis908 If you don't already have sympathies towards discriminatory language and actions then you wouldn't use them to insult someone regardless of how angry you are. I've gotten into pretty heated fights with PoC, women, other gay men and trans people, etc, and I've yet to suddenly spring out a slur, not because I have to consciously avoid it but because I don't have any sympathies towards racism, transphobia, misogyny, etc.
