Anxiety can cause symptoms that look like adhd and vice versa. The lines are really blurred in a lot of mental illnesses which is why people often get missed in diagnosis. No matter what the label is, I hope you start feeling some relief soon.
@@Bimby-b Except that other things like anxiety can cause executive dysfuntion. ADHD is executive dysfunction across many areas (memory, attention, decision making) rather than just a couple of areas, and has been there since birth. If you have severe anxiety or ptsd from a young age, it can be hard to tease out the differences, but they are there. "Executive dysfunction" is an umbrella term for several things and isn't exclusive to ADHD.
@@chronischgeheilt First that ADHD is present from birth (though it can be missed). It's also the types and extent of executive dysfunction, and how they present and look, so even if you have anxiety from a young age there are some differences. This is where a professional assessment can get really important though, because anxiety and ADHD are often comorbid (they exist together, and ADHD can also cause anxiety), and someone who knows how to pull out which traits and symptoms are caused by what is important.
And therapy for CPTSD is different than anxiety. I nad that diagnosis and suffered in CBT for years and it did nothing for me. Now I'm doing EMDR and finally some progress after 15 years.
@@leniwiec2401 how did the suffering in CBT Look Like? I am on ans Off for 10 yrs now, have Made SOME Progress with some stuff, but after every therapy I am Like 'sooo we've spend 1.5 yrs now and I took away about ONE Thing...'
@@chronischgeheilt in CPTSD you are in fight, flight, freeze mode a lot of the time which can have symptoms of anxiety. Fast heart rate, muscle tension, stress, panic attacks amongst many others. The difference is the cause. You are triggered, often unconciously by an everyday event and you feel the same as you felt in the situation that traumatised you. It is hard to catch if you are not aware of your triggers. And then, suddenly, a good day turns into your worst nightmare seemingly without any reason.
I am unbelievably proud of you. I’m 41 just realizing I need to go back to therapy. I’m so amazed that at just 24 you have grown so much so quickly. Trust yourself sweetheart. You’re shining bright ❤ Much love Wendy
Wow. Separation anxiety from your mom at a young age? Girl ME TOO. I can remember going to daycare before starting kindergarten and SCREAMING my head off every time my mom had to drop me off there. Now at 28 I still have HORRIBLE anxiety that make my life difficult. I thought I had ocd but it’s anxiety ticks. It’s insane what anxiety does to your body. Sending you love and good vibes ❤️
I was diagnosed with anxiety years ago, had loads of therapy and recently diagnosed with ADHD because the symptoms did not go away. ADHD meds are now really helping me calm down mentally . Wish I’d had this years ago.
@@annisa8863 Yes they do. Methylphenidate works at helping me focus on tasks and drive slower ! :). But I have found it can also create anxiety symptoms so I am now trying lisdexamfetamine (Elvance) and am going through titration on this now. Meds have made a positive impact on my life.
@@nickclarkuk I’ve just been diagnosed with Inattentive ADHD. I need to do an ECG test first, since I have a family history of bad heart health. After that I should be able to explore my options with meds and I honestly can’t wait. My education is really suffering due to my short attention span. I just want things to look up :(. Hopefully soon!
its the same for me!! ive been on SSRIS for my anxiety for a while and ive never noticed any effect. now that I've started my ADHD meds i finally feel calm for the first time in my life 😭
autism (diagnosed at 16), adhd (diagnosed at 15), anxiety and depression (diagnosed at 8), diagnosis can help us get the support we need. Took me a while because anxiety masked all my other symptoms but it can be the other way, too. I’m glad you’re getting the support you need xxx
I did an ADHD assessment and it turns out that I have symptoms that present like ADHD because of my depression, anxiety and c-ptsd. I do have executive disfunction and stuff that looks like adhd symptoms because so much of my mental processing is caught up in survival mode and anxiety and it doesn't commit any resources to executive functions.
Wouldn’t be surprised if ghis is what’s going on with me. I’ve been through some TRAUMA (I’m trying to see a therapist because even someone saying my name fucks me up)
@Sabont Magont yeah I'm stuck on a waiting list since a year ago February because they haven't gotten another therapist since my old one left that works with my insurance
@Doozybrains I tend to start multiple things at once and not finish them. Like I'm always doing 3 things at once. Forget what I'm saying sometimes in the middle of a sentence. I get distracted like something will grab my attention and pull me off of what I'm trying to get done or say. I'm fidgety. I almost constantly need to be doing something or in motion. I forget what I walked into a room for all the time and I constantly misplace things.
I was diagnosed with autism 11th October 2022, it was bitter sweet. As I struggled so long without being recognised but finally being recognised, I also have a long list of mental and physical conditions including pots, fibromyalgia, urticarial vasculitis, bpd, schizophrenia and honestly it’s ruined my life Sorry about the rant I have no friends😂 I hope the therapy works and offers you relief !
i got diagnosed with autism in february 2021 and it has honestly made everything make sense. all my anxiety, depression, stress, anger issues all just came together as one. also a lot of my physical problems with my bones and muscles have tied in with my autism. it’s so crazy

Kind of off topic, but thank you for talking a little bit about your experience with therapy :) I am absolutely petrified of therapy(I have really bad anxiety) and even more now because of the whole better help violating their users and selling their private data to meta/a lot of the therapists being awful to people. However, hearing good stories really help
I don't know where in the world you are but here in Canada there are therapists listed online on psychology today. I've found two therapists that way. One I'm still with and another wasn't a good fit but no horror stories or anything. Both were professional and I was able to do a free short call or initial appointment to see if they seemed like a good fit. Um anyway all of that to say that I've had good experience with private practice therapists. Check their qualifications and if they're registered and following laws there will probably be privacy standards. That being said, there's no rush so I hope you're able to do whatever is best for you
I’m currently in a mental health blip and hide it well. I’m working with a psychiatrist and working on getting into therapy for the first real time in 26 years. Thank you for this 💕💕
Yay for being diagnosed, it’s a big step in the process of healing. I recently got diagnosed with BPD and getting more tests done next year after I’ve turned 18. (Edit) I clench my jaw all the time too!! It’s so annoying trying to stop it but then it aches more when I’m not clenching it.
I’m 30 and New Year’s Eve I was diagnosed with Autism and ADHD and it has made me entire life make SO much sense! It’s been so amazing for me to be diagnosed. So glad you have more understanding of yourself due to this experience! Good luck with it all 🎉❤
I’m autistic and I have a lot of anxiety and I can’t even really get rid of it because if the damn autism. I’ve started therapy and I think it’s helping. It’s like I have a load of puzzle pieces but with each session I’m slowly putting the pieces together. I already feel a lot better. I’ve also started running which mentally is really good for me so far. 2023 is going to me my year 😊
Hi El. I found out I have been living with undiagnosed autism and adhd for 28 years of my life. Its a mind opening experience but also terrifying because it’s like, “now what?” Happy ur getting knowledge and support ❤
I got diagnosed with autism (13 years old) and adhd (15 years old) and it took me a long time to learn to accept the fact i had these disabilities but it made everything make so much more sense. The symptoms for boys were always told to me whenever me or my family mentioned the possibility of me being neurodivergent which really effected the way i saw these disabilities for a while but after researching the differences and how to deal with my personal experiences has helped me so much with understanding myself and how i can support me and the way i live. Being diagnosed with something you don’t really expect can be a big deal for awhile especially if there is lots of false information surrounding it on the media but after awhile you do really learn to accept it. I wish you luck on your journey and always remember that whatever label you get diagnosed with doesnt define you, you are your own person with your own life and wishes and a label shouldnt decide what you can and cant do.
i grew up with generalized anxiety and social anxiety and i was diagnosed woth adhd and autism at 21. ive realized my anxiety disorders and depression manifested from the fact that i undiagnosed for so long. glad you are figuring things our for yourself it helped me tremendously
as someone who also clenches/grinds my teeth 24/7 subconsciously and gets worse when I’m anxious thank you for informing me about the botox 😭 also it’s one of my stims from autism (I got diagnosed last year) so I’m not sure but may wanna check yourself girly 🤷♀️
Wow it’s so weird to not hear your voice in a respectful true crime manner, I didn’t realize how soothing your voice is when telling bad events??? Life’s a trip 😂
I had the exact same experience and have that same combo of ADHD/Autism/C-PTSD. It's so sad to see how often this happens! Also this particular combo is rough AF, hope you're doing okay!
If its a dual assessment they'll be seperate!! I had my appointment in Jan for Autism and my ADHD one is this Friday! Just incase! As I went to the appointment thinking was both haha. It's freeing, you understand alot more about yourself
There are so many things I could say in this video. But the part that hit a chord with me the most, was when you mentioned how travelling makes you so anxious for no reason. This was one of the biggest things for me throughout my journey with being diagnosed with ADHD. The things that seemed to have no 'traumatic' reason for causing anxiety. For me, that intense anxiety of travelling stemmed from overstimulation. Because I cannot switch off my focus of the things around me, I take in EVERYTHING. So I get overwhelmed very quickly, and the lack of control of my overwhelmed brain, is the part causes intense anxiety from nowhere. There were many things that tied into my past, but when I was getting down to the nitty gritty of certain scenarios (similar reasoning to the staying away from home and not going to sleepovers as a child), I was finding that a lot of my anxiety was caused by new surroundings and specifically the struggle to process what was going on. Because of my ADHD brain being very gogogo and 'full' all the time, I can often process things slower. Ultimately, if there is a lot of new things all of a sudden, whether thats 'new' in the sense of being somewhere out of my normal routine, or in the sense of a new place or surroundings. I would reach an overwhelmed state quicker, and as a child it was scary to be in a state of overwhelm where I couldn't think straight at all, and not know or be able to explain why. I had it all back then 'stop being a cry baby', 'the younger kids aren't acting like this', etc. etc. The analogy I often use to help me understand it better is, that the ADHD taking in everything 'new' almost all at once, which kind of creates a queue in my head. Because they are 'new', they're not as easy to process on the spot, my brain will simply stop processing any of it and clock out. Which is when I reach that point of having an anxiety attack. Yes, neurotypical brains experience the same thing, but the speed/intensity of the overwhelm, paired with the things I'm getting overwhelmed about, are usually the part that differs. Learning to manage the newness whether that's been by, asking someone new I was dating to send a video of their flat before going there, or asking friends where we are going to eat before hand so I can look up the menu. May come across like I'm being over the top. But for me, these things help familiarise me with situations which could quickly become overwhelming. I had to go to multiple GPs with that questionnaire thing before they sent me for an assessment with an actual psychiatrist. Who then said that the GP referral they had was one of the best they'd seen and that the GP seriously knew what they were talking about. I hate how hit and miss the GPs are in this country, but I can understand the struggles they face currently, with the state of the NHS. I'm sending you all the love & support. Because going through your brain, is HARD at times 🙃 I have always enjoyed your videos, and you as a person 😊 Just remember, that you know you best. Even if it sometimes doesn't feel like it 💛
Doctors don’t always get it right. You may still have ADHD as anxiety is a common comorbidity. My nephew was fobbed off for years but now he’s diagnosed with autism and ADHD. My daughter is autistic and people laughed at me initially. Finally someone listened and she was diagnosed at 4. I’ve suffered trauma and have PTSD because of it, but I still have ADHD too. It’s not as cut and dry as doctors may make you think.
@@octavia4324 Doctors aren’t perfect, they do get things wrong sometimes. I’m not saying to never trust them, I’m just saying that they may not always be right.
@@NotAnotherKuromi The symptoms of many mental illnesses overlap. Which is why doctors are hesitant to diagnose patients with multiple mental illnesses. Especially if they're severe and require medication.
I experience similar symptoms to you regarding severe anxiety/ some adhd symptoms and i recently got diagnosed with autism. not saying you have it but it’s worth looking into queen💋
@@jefe536 I struggle with my mental health so I got referred to CAMHS (child and adolescent mental health services) , which is a service in the UK. So i was seeing a therapist and just by talking to her and telling her about my struggles, she referred me to get an autism assessment but there was a waiting list. It only took 3 months for me to get seen and then it took about 6 months in total of different assessments and paperwork and stuff and then I was officially diagnosed. If your an adult, it’s probably a lot harder or if you are not already seeing a therapist but I wish you the best of luck with getting a diagnosis x
@@jefe536 This probably isn't what you want to hear, but it was a real struggle for me, and it took over 2 years from start to finish. I tried going through my public healthcare system first, but because I'm an adult, it turns out that they don't even DO autism assessments for anyone over 19 in my healthcare system! Unfortunately, no one bothered to tell me this, so I thought I was on the waiting list for several months, only to be told when I followed up that they doesn't even do adult assessments! *rolls eyes* So I had to find a private psychologist to assess me, which I understand is a big privilege to be able to access. Definitely not cheap, that's for sure. :( However, once I found her (which took a while; I live in a very small/isolated area), the process took 3 appointments over the course of about 5 months, and then I got my diagnosis! Like I said, I'm aware that being able to afford private assessment isn't always an option for everyone, but that was the only way I was able to get a diagnosis as an adult where I live. I wish you all the luck at getting diagnosed!
My quest towards my ADHD diagnosis turned out into a borderline personality disorder diagnosis. So great that you went to get this checked.. Good luck and take care of yourself.
You are so real! Listening to you is like having a very close conversation with a sister. I bet lots of lonely people get benefit from these videos. I think you are doing good work.
I was diagnosed with inattentive ADHD later in life. I had no idea what I have been dealing with my whole life was considered ADHD. After a FIVE HOUR test I found out yes I definitely have it. It was life changing actually. I have always felt like the werid kid, werid friend my whole life. I would say you definitely sound like you have it. The fact that I can follow your podcast and I'm like yeah all of what she says makes sense. 😂😂 I adore you no matter what you have. 💜💜
My favorite line in this whole video “damn therapy is fucking easy why’d I stop, then we hit a nerve” 😅😅 me every single time I go to therapy. Begins with me being like eh do I really need this? By the end I’m like yea I absolutely do need this😂😂also I completely understand what you mean when your therapist asked if you think true crime is part of your anxiety and you were just like no definitely not. I’m the same way😂 I’m a psych major in college and I’ve always loved true crime since I was little so when my therapist met me for the first time she was like girl this could be a problem 😂 it’s kinda crazy that listening and researching true crime is one of the things that doesn’t skyrocket my anxiety 😂
I was kinda diagnosed with BPD last summer. In the sense that the doctor told me I probably had it and she treated me for it. Ever since the diagnosis I’ve been doing so so much better! It’s empowering. However, some people get under my skin about it sometimes. Like a friends of mine (who’s also having mental health problems, it got worse lately), kept going on about how awful it was to live with someone with BPD. I know I can still be loved and appreciated despite my diagnosis.
This might help… there are different types of anxiety. Finding out the type of anxiety you have can be very helpful! (Such as GAD, Seperation Anxiety, Social Anxiety….) I’m sure you’ll find out what you have in Therapy, it seems like you’re in a good space to take this step. I wish you all the best Eleanor ❤️
This is completely random, but I stumbled across your video and IDK how but it triggered me (in a good way) to touch on some trauma that I’ve been putting off dealing with for, well, years and years. I had a good cry and I’m so glad I finally faced this stuff. I also have really bad anxiety, might have ADHD, and am in that place right now where going out for a meal with my boyfriend feels so impossible. I’m going to start going to weekly therapy as well. And hearing you say you addressed some trauma kinda got me thinking and yeah…. Thanks for putting this stuff out on the internet. It does indeed help. Hope you feel better soon. ❤❤❤
I so glad that you are feeling well and as if you are heading in a good direction! You can do this! Personally this is my actual nightmare, because around here if that was the diagnosis, the doctor would just shrug blankly and do nothing. Suddenly it's not their responsibility.
Good on you for taking care of your mental health, and thank you for discussing yours so openly. The more people that do this, the better off we will all be. Something that's been a source of constant low-level anxiety for me is fear that I will not be diagnosed with the ADHD I have long suspected I have (and had actually been diagnosed with at one time before I moved across the country and went without health insurance for a while). I'm ashamed to say that this fear is the main reason why I chickened out and canceled a February appointment with an ADHD specialist in my area, one I had been looking forward to. Another thing to keep in mind is that I live in the US, where healthcare is notorious for costing an arm and a leg, so I am not terribly keen on shelling out hundreds of dollars on appointments with psychiatrists or therapists that may end up being dismissive and/or rude. (Been there, done that, I'm afraid.)
Ellieeeeee.....having severe anxiety myself, I can tell you that exercise is GREAT for your mental health as well as your physical health!!! So do whatever physical activity you can! It will help in so many ways!
This is SUCH an important video. With the positive raised awareness and acceptance of ADHD, there are many people understandably seeking assessment to help improve their lives. There are many symptoms that overlap with ADHD and other conditions, and there are people who are not diagnosed with ADHD who feel incredibly disappointed and lose hope as maybe thought the diagnosis would be the answer to everything BUT, the really important part of this is actually finding out what is going on, the correct pathway to improving things, and it would be counter productive to try to treat chronic anxiety, BPD, PTSD etc with ADHD treatment. As essentially it wouldn't work and you would be back at square one. Finding a good psychiatrist who can really get to the route of the cause of someone's symptoms is much more important than getting an ADHD diagnosis because hopes are pinned on this. I think a lot of people confuse the effectiveness of ADHD medication in people with ADHD diagnosed symptoms, with being an all round effective medication. The truth is some people with ADHD will also not experience improvement with ADHD medication, and very importantly it does not fix or cure anything. I have combined ADHD and it has helped hugely with the way my brain works differently but it has not got rid of my symptoms, and some symptoms are not treatable by ADHD meds. In these days so much of our general environment; social media, constant influx of information and stress and lifestyle can cause symptoms very close to ADHD especially chronic anxiety. Anxiety or depression is not any less severe or problematic than ADHD, it's important to treat and can be crippling to people. It's ok to find out exactly what the route cause is, but remember people to be kind to yourself and remember we can all only cope with so much. We need to prioritise wellbeing. Step away from the devices once in a while ❤❤
I have anxiety, depression, OCD, and PTSD so I feel you girl! I’m not scared to go out or be around people either, just battle persistent uneasy and uncomfortable feelings. We just got to keep pushing through even when it’s hard. You got this! 💪🏼 I live in Texas and have been to Florida and it’s beautiful. I hope you have a great trip! 🖤
They couldn't figure out what was going on with me for like YEARS. I finally got a diagnosis of complex ptsd and it literally explains all of my symptoms and other health issues I've been complaining about for years. I went to so many doctors and got bounced around and over medicated. It's so important to find the right dr/therapist for you. It's hard where I live because even if you find a qualified mental health professional, they usually have SO many patients that it's impossible to give you the time and attention that's really needed to heal. Also thank you for talking about this and being brave and vulnerable. This is how we heal. Also YES 1975 😊
Yessss anxiety/asd/adhd have a lot of similarities (or appear together a lot of the time) and it's so good that you're informing people. I see a ton of people self diagnosing themselves with adhd when a true diagnosis of whatever it actually is could help the person SO much.
honestly i kind of think im on the same route as you ellie, i questioned adhd but honestly i agree with what you have said about yourself. i dont have the resources to get help though but i hope to one day. i love your vibe so much even for a video like this your voice makes me feel much better.
I had terrible separation anxiety as my mum went into a mental health institution when I was about 5/6. I used to think she was going to die or not come back from the shops. I also used to have terrible anxiety about eating in public, I used to come over feeling sick .. don't know how that happened but that anxiety has stayed with me just presented in a different way.. well the fear of death and people dying is still pretty prominent! I also clench my jaw! Isn't it weird, I feel like the more I'm aware of why I have anxiety... the more my symptoms worsen...
Have you ever looked into ocd? i'm definitely not armchair diagnosing but these were my main anxiety symptoms when i went into therapy and it turns out it was ocd, the fears regarding eating in public and people close to me dying or abandoning me were obsessions and even simple things like clenching jaw can be compulsions too, just something to research if you would like to know a bit more about it!

@@Maria-jl7ql ADHD leads to illicit drug use or alcoholism as the person is self-medicating, and these lead to other problems such as illegal incidents or mental health crisis. It's so funny to me though that a video with this title has the most ADHD energy I've seen in a while. Great video, I've been looking into getting an ADHD diagnosis myself & ran into the same possibility.
I got diagnosed in 2008 when i was 6 years old with Autism Spectrum disorder and ADHD and i think i might have OCD as well but i need to follow up on that but i am almost fully certain of it. Its sad to see so many people get diagnosed so late in life. I was fortunate to get diagnosed so long ago because almost all my siblings “who are older than me” have ADHD and 1 has dyslexia and another one has ADD. So disorders run in the family. And now because of the early diagnosis i now know how to deal with it. I mean my disorders are pretty much my whole life and I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t aware of having them besides my ASD because my mom only told me about that 6 years after my diagnosis because i was too young to understand what it entails and she did the right thing by not telling me at first. I hope you’re fine!! Can’t believe its been 15 years since my diagnosis. Still remember some of it though!!
It’s crazy how much I relate to you, we are also born a day apart. I’ve just had the same assessment and starting back at cbt therapy due to anxiety. It’s nice someone uses there platform in a normal fashion and no act. I notice you swear a lot too.. which is a common thing in me too! My Mind sometimes thinks so much that i dont actually know what to say and only thing I can think of is a swear word to full my sentences 😂
It makes me really happy to see someone talking about this stuff openly. I've got too many diagnosises, and I'm dealing with a lot of issues that I have to talk through in therapy, and I don't think people talk about it enough. Not in a healthy way at least; it seems everyone is either putting everything on the internet for brownie points or just mentions they go and leave it at that.
Eleanor is such a northerner and I fucking love it, I've been watching her true crime videos for a few years and I love them but seeing this side of her is so cool and fun, much love
I wondered if people with high anxiety and similar have tried meditation / self hypnosis ? In my late teens early twenties I wet through a lot of trauma and even loud noises in the city would find me trying to hide. Anyway I was on various meds and drank too much however I started meditating and within a year I was off all meds and drinking was under control and nicely sociable. It was so life changing. Anyway 40 years later I still think apart from getting married & becoming a father, meditation was my lifes biggest changer. I now meditate a couple of times a week only first thing or before sleep, sure gets rid of anxiety and usually gives you answers to questions you did not realise you had. Keep up your great vids!
Easy meals: pan sear ground Turkey w/ garlic & onion powder. Add salt and pepper to taste. Throw this in with salads, eggs, frozen veggies, potatoes, etc. super easy and lasts all week. Apple + Smuckers natural (or whatever the UK version of pb that’s only peanuts and salt) is my go to snacky snack. If I want sweets, I’ll throw in some chocolate chips too
Thank you for making this video, it's so helpful to hear from people with different experiences than are usually shared. I recently got diagnosed with ADHD, and keep worrying that it's wrong, even though I'd discussed my existing autism and cPTSD diagnoses with the assessor and whether it was those things and not ADHD (she actually thought my anxiety was masking some of the adhd in my case, rather than it being anxiety instead of adhd). Hearing your story has actually reassured me quite a bit that they might well be right about me, and it's not "just" the anxiety. Good luck with your therapist! Mine's a godsend and has been helping me a lot, but some weeks it's definitely just time to cry afterwards. 😭
Going back to therapy regularly really helped me a lot. It’s also a really good thing to look at what you’re putting in your body as far as food and liquids including alcohol ugh I know haha 😅 are there are so many elements in so many names for so many things. Now it’s just best to stay in therapy and constantly come back to yourself and figure out your things! I love that you talk about mental health and keep it so laid-back and non-stigmatized!
I have adhd, anxiety, and undiagnosed symptoms of ptsd so it's the most wonderful thing to deal with honestly. I'm glad you're going to therapy for it tho!! I'm still trying to get the right dosage for my anxiety meds :/
I have generalized anxiety disorder, depression, and PTSD. I had severe, severe anxiety my entire life so I didn't understand what life even felt like without it. Just constant anxiety for no real reason that I can discern, but everything just feels wrong and off. Exactly what you described. When I started my medication, for the first time in my life I didn't feel it. I then realized that it was always there, just in varying degrees. I never felt life without anxiety. It's changed me and allowed me to be the person I knew I was, without the constant fear.
I’m really glad I tuned into this one. last november i was diagnosed with autism, and i struggle with depression, anxiety and other possibly undiagnosed mental illnesses, and last year, my therapist let me go because she thought i was good to go, but i didn’t really feel listened to, so when my mental health got really bad again, my mum took me to a doctor and we got a referral to mind and camhs and i’m currently on a waiting list, and i feel so in the dark about what it’s going to be like going back to therapy, and not knowing what’s going on inside my mind so, just thought i’d say this i don’t know why 💀🧍♀️ love you 💗

I was molested when I was very young, and then along other things I was in a very abusive relationship… Bpd, Add, severe Anxiety, PTSD from trama!! And then because of this I have… Ehlers, Danlos, fibromyalgia along lots of others things. But trama affects your body so much, so it’s wonderful that you’re getting help now. I’m going to be 50 and have been dealing with this for along time. So to everyone please start therapy early ❤
Wait I clicked on this not realising it is THE Eleanor Neale true crime guru, makeup extraordinaire.. what WHAT! Love seeing you in a more natural setting. As somebody who’s had life long severe anxiety, hello, it sucks but we work towards a more comfortable life everyday and coping gets easier as you go! It’s a learning process as you know, I’m on antidepressants which have helped aid not only of course the depression but my anxiety and OCD a lot too! All the best to you beaut x
I too have suffered from Anxiety, horribly, since my very early 20's. Didn't drive until I was 26. I feel every word of this. It definitely still creeps up.... and it definitely makes me run 24/7.

I’m glad therapy is helping you. I haven’t started therapy yet but I have been put forward for CBT which I’m excited about but also really nervous for at the same time. Going through the trauma dumping is going to be really hard but it should be worth it. BTW loving the animal crossing lo-if in the back ground 😊
As a child my son was dx with severe ADHD, OCD, DEPRESSION AND auditory processing disorder. He's now in his 30s and he is fine. So believe me, it's not a life sentence. We got help early and that's what helped more than anything.
That's the think wiv anxiety, it tends to be very irrational. But then the times that it's rational, it's more severe than in people that don't suffer wiv it so much
I have read that bipolar, ASD, ADD/ADHD, & some types of anxiety all "live" in the same part of the brain. While it's hard to see the links between each diagnosis, we'll likely treat them much differently in the future once we really understand. I hope. I lost my mania & have a feeling I am actually ASD, add, & depression, but they wanna feed my stable but bad mood stabilizers
I’ve seen these comments telling their stories and I’m just saying i think it’s a nice community in here. was nearly misdiagnosed (as in they didn’t bother to diagnose, just suggested it could be this and home life which is btw perfectly fine. They just took a look at my mum and sent us off with a pamphlet or something) with anxiety and after leaving school for home education (the only time I’ve enjoyed my life and actually learnt) we found out about pda. It’s on the autism spectrum and is often compared to ADHD. It stands for “Pathelogical Demind Avoidance” which i kind of don’t think fits; to me it implies we choose not to do things we’re told to, but it’s more like *paralysation* when trying to do a certain thing. In smaller children they may throw tantrums like i used to before school and dinner at the table but surprisingly and unfortunately i dont know as much i should about pda, but that’s because not a lot of research is put into it..i think psychologists think of it as anxiety preventing us from doing things. I also thought i may be developing schizophrenia but we’ll see in the future i guess…Honestly i havent got much more to say about it since there is such little known about neurodiversity, and pda related things but I’ll edit my comment if something comes up. its really nice reading these comments though.
Didn't know about this second channel till just now, and I absolutely love your demeanor and look in this. It's a whole other side I never knew, and you're freakin awesome. I also like how you're swearing in this, I guess this second channel isn't meant to be a source of income like the other one 😉
I suffer with bad social anxiety, and I also go to a therapy appointment every Monday. I'll tell you now. You may cry and get overwhelmed in these sessions but it's so worth it, My therapist gives me little homework activities for me to do to get out of the house. It may be nerve wracking but accomplishing these things are like winning little serotonin prizes. To anyone else suffering with anxiety or any other negative mental health issues, I really do recommend getting a therapist.
I'm diagnosed Primarily Inattentive ADHD and Moderate Anxiety. Once I started treating the ADHD it turned out that a significant amount of my Anxiety was how my brain was masking/coping my ADHD. I also clench my jaw! It's mostly when I'm hyper focusing on things. Women and girls also tend to present symptoms of ADHD differently so that's something to consider!
Hey Ellie! From one snacker to another, here are some of my favs (if it takes time to make, my ED says it's a waste of time, fyi): string cheese & sliced meat, hummus, yogurt with fruit, pre-made guacamole cups, smoothies, oatmeal/porridge/cream of wheat, apples & almond butter. When I have to make dinner for my family, I tend to chop up a bunch of veg and meat and toss it in the crock pot or dutch oven on low for several hours. Embrace the snacky lifestyle!! Love you! 🖤
giirlll we wish you the best w your mental health journey and 100% respect that need for some privacy ! :) set your boundaries and share what you feel comfortable sharing love u
I first got assessed for anxiety but ended up diagnosed with autism on February 10th, 2023. It actually makes a lot of sense and I've never felt as validated as when I learned I was autistic!
1 year later i will say there is still a STRONG chance that you have ADHD, I can sense my people and as someone who also has trauma and anxiety, I know they can be similar but there's differences and they are very commonly together
Make sure to be mindful of the humidity in Flordia. I have a friend from the UK who went to Flordia. She hated it so much she booked a flight back after an hour. I LOVE humidity, you might too. I hated it at first but after a few hours and hanging out on the beach it was so nice and I constantly miss it.
I have ADHD, depression, anxiety, PTSD, and dermatillomania. I was initially diagnosed in high school and was retested as an adult. But regardless, I have definitely learned how to manage my mental health a lot better over the years.
I have started home workouts this past 2 weeks too!! Just enough to make me sore and pray I see a little difference 😂 nothing too big though!! That's my update ❤
Thank you for being honest and open about mental health and trauma. Have a look into a therapy called EMDR. It sounds weird but it’s oddly super effective for trauma and widely used for ptsd
Anxiety can cause symptoms that look like adhd and vice versa. The lines are really blurred in a lot of mental illnesses which is why people often get missed in diagnosis. No matter what the label is, I hope you start feeling some relief soon.
I hate this rhetoric though, the difference is executive dysfunction
@@Bimby-b is it though? Isn't executive functioning impaired in pretty much all mental health disorders?
So what are the differences between anxiety and ADHD?
C-PTSD causes severe anxiety and can look a lotttt like ADHD. Take care of yourself Ellie 💕 hope you can get more directed and specific care now xx
Same the book Complex PTSD was life changing for me!
And therapy for CPTSD is different than anxiety. I nad that diagnosis and suffered in CBT for years and it did nothing for me. Now I'm doing EMDR and finally some progress after 15 years.
In what can it Look similar, and where are differences?
You’re shining bright ❤
Much love

I wish therapy wasn't so stinking pricy. 😭
I have anxiety disorder, ADHD and Dyslexia, so I fall under the neurodivergent umbrella. ✌🏼
we have the exact same diagnosis 😭😭
same i have anxiety, ocd, adhd, depression, autism probably more
@Ailbe yeah
@Ailbe no
exactly the same here
I was diagnosed with anxiety years ago, had loads of therapy and recently diagnosed with ADHD because the symptoms did not go away. ADHD meds are now really helping me calm down mentally . Wish I’d had this years ago.
Do you find that the meds help you with concentration and studying?
@@annisa8863 Yes they do. Methylphenidate works at helping me focus on tasks and drive slower ! :). But I have found it can also create anxiety symptoms so I am now trying lisdexamfetamine (Elvance) and am going through titration on this now. Meds have made a positive impact on my life.
If you have ADHD, have you been able to try any meds?
Can you give some examples? I am currently curious about the topic...
Also where did "ADHD Hacks or tools" Help you nontheless, and where Not?
@Doozybrains I tend to start multiple things at once and not finish them. Like I'm always doing 3 things at once. Forget what I'm saying sometimes in the middle of a sentence. I get distracted like something will grab my attention and pull me off of what I'm trying to get done or say. I'm fidgety. I almost constantly need to be doing something or in motion. I forget what I walked into a room for all the time and I constantly misplace things.

I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder when I was 13 and severe anxiety + adhd when I was 10. It felt so good to get a diagnosis I felt really relieved
I was diagnosed with autism 11th October 2022, it was bitter sweet. As I struggled so long without being recognised but finally being recognised, I also have a long list of mental and physical conditions including pots, fibromyalgia, urticarial vasculitis, bpd, schizophrenia and honestly it’s ruined my life

Kind of off topic, but thank you for talking a little bit about your experience with therapy :)

Its a mind opening experience but also terrifying because it’s like, “now what?”
Happy ur getting knowledge and support ❤
when you said “show the adhd lady my podcast” and that sent me bc i was THINKING IT AT THE SAME TIME
I got diagnosed with autism (13 years old) and adhd (15 years old) and it took me a long time to learn to accept the fact i had these disabilities but it made everything make so much more sense. I wish you luck on your journey and always remember that whatever label you get diagnosed with doesnt define you, you are your own person with your own life and wishes and a label shouldnt decide what you can and cant do.
i grew up with generalized anxiety and social anxiety and i was diagnosed woth adhd and autism at 21. ive realized my anxiety disorders and depression manifested from the fact that i undiagnosed for so long.
glad you are figuring things our for yourself it helped me tremendously
as someone who also clenches/grinds my teeth 24/7 subconsciously and gets worse when I’m anxious thank you for informing me about the botox 😭

Because going through your brain, is HARD at times 🙃
I have always enjoyed your videos, and you as a person 😊 Just remember, that you know you best.
I would say trust a doctor
@@octavia4324 Doctors aren’t perfect, they do get things wrong sometimes. I’m not saying to never trust them, I’m just saying that they may not always be right.
I agree, they also tend to like to only diagnose people with one things, or as few as possible, even if you have loads of symptoms.

The symptoms of many mental illnesses overlap. Which is why doctors are hesitant to diagnose patients with multiple mental illnesses. Especially if they're severe and require medication.

THIS!!!!
Same here! Got my autism diagnosis in late 2021, after years of thinking it was ‘just bad anxiety’. Definitely worth looking into. 💕
*rolls eyes*
So I had to find a private psychologist to assess me, which I understand is a big privilege to be able to access.

I was SO nervous for a second that you were just about to be slapped with the BPD label !!😮
I WAS THINKING THAT TOO!!!😭😭
I was kinda diagnosed with BPD last summer.
No lie, your personal posts help me with my depression.
This might help… there are different types of anxiety.
Finding out the type of anxiety you have can be very helpful! (Such as GAD, Seperation Anxiety, Social Anxiety….)
I’m sure you’ll find out what you have in Therapy, it seems like you’re in a good space to take this step.

However, I have to wonder if your mother is Bipolar not ADHD. ADHD is about attention meaning that one can have hyperactive attention or behaviors or underactive attentions & behaviors. Bipolar is mood instability which includes manic (or cycling) & depression.
@@seriouslyjoking2 She has been tested for bipolar and it wasn’t that, as according to the specialist her manic episodes weren’t in line with bipolar she doesn’t have depression too though..
as someone with audhd and severe anxiety the legit same thing happened to me and it ended up being both 💀💀
ugh i can just literally listen to you talk forever 😭, every time im doing something and put youtube on it’s always one of your vids, youre just so fun to hear, it’s like ur my bestie lol
This felt like a FaceTime conversation w a friend honestly I was so invested
I have autism, combined adhd and ptsd. Fun combo 😅 really happy that I know now though (I’m 35 and got diagnosed last month).
I’m really glad I tuned into this one. last november i was diagnosed with autism, and i struggle with depression, anxiety and other possibly undiagnosed mental illnesses, and last year, my therapist let me go because she thought i was good to go, but i didn’t really feel listened to, so when my mental health got really bad again, my mum took me to a doctor and we got a referral to mind and camhs and i’m currently on a waiting list, and i feel so in the dark about what it’s going to be like going back to therapy, and not knowing what’s going on inside my mind so, just thought i’d say this i don’t know why 💀🧍♀️ love you 💗
👋🏼Trama affects so much!! I go to therapy every week.
I always loved your personality on your true crime channel but just hearing how you are on your personal channel I love it 😂
I too have suffered from Anxiety, horribly, since my very early 20's. Didn't drive until I was 26. I feel every word of this. It definitely still creeps up.... and it definitely makes me run 24/7.
I have complex PTSD, anxiety, depression, borderline traits, and an insecure attachment style. I'm in psychotherapy, I have been for over 6 years. I see her once a week. Take care of yourself hum 💕
Ah so glad this video came up! It is such a testament to how female adhd is so unclear compared to male adhd, hoping to get my assessment soon ! :)
It’s good to hear you are in therapy! My heart and prayers are with you!❤
Ahhhh I am early! Hello Eleanor !! Thank you for being so open and spreading awareness ! all love wishing you well!!
As a child my son was dx with severe ADHD, OCD, DEPRESSION AND auditory processing disorder. He's now in his 30s and he is fine. So believe me, it's not a life sentence. We got help early and that's what helped more than anything.
Ptsd and c-ptsd can also look like autism spectrum, I was so mind blown when I learned it.
This video got me realizing that maybe all of my ADHD symptoms are just my anxiety being worse than I thought.
I love your vibe you're very refreshing
That's the think wiv anxiety, it tends to be very irrational. But then the times that it's rational, it's more severe than in people that don't suffer wiv it so much
I wish I could have therapy :( i have so many things and trauma that i've never processed or healed from and still experience more even now
I have read that bipolar, ASD, ADD/ADHD, & some types of anxiety all "live" in the same part of the brain.
1 year later i will say there is still a STRONG chance that you have ADHD, I can sense my people and as someone who also has trauma and anxiety, I know they can be similar but there's differences and they are very commonly together
as soon as i saw the title i clicked the second it popped up am going to continue watching it rnn
I have ADHD, Autism, dyslexia and dyspraxia as well as functional anxiety and more that’s undiagnosed, it’s just a part of life
I have ADHD, depression, anxiety, PTSD, and dermatillomania.
It sounds weird but it’s oddly super effective for trauma and widely used for ptsd
i love this channel so much😩😩watching as i roll up💪🏼LOVE YOU ELLIE
My anxiety got very intense when I lost weight, my body was so stressed out from lack of calories so please be mindful of that as well. ❤
Its Nice getting to know Ellie behind the true crime videos. Very wholesome thank you for sharing with us❤
