It seems to have slowed down a bit today, but who knows? I might get another spike in viewership within hours. It's hard to tell how TH-cam works sometimes, haha. No matter what happens next, I consider this video to be a success and am glad that people are enjoying it!
You brought up a point that is legit 90% of this game's difficulty. Way too many attack go like this: Wind-up(fairly average speed) > Hold(variable length) > swing down (faster than human reaction time). The issue with this telegraphing philosophy is that those moves are simply unreactable, the way to deflect them is to simply memorize how long the "hold" animation is and make the decision to deflect BEFORE the enemy has started their swing down. After beating the game, I just went to random videos and measured just how fast those "hard" attacks are, and they're just absurdly fast, I'm talking sub 150ms. Things like laxasia and final boss phase 2 first attack are purely a brute force timing memorization, you're not reacting the the actual attack coming your way, you're simply going "ok he went into the stance.. 1..2..3 deflect" all before he moved a muscle towards you. These types of attacks can be nice to raise the stakes and make you feel challenged, but when it's the MAIN mode of difficulty, it just becomes cheap. Of course not every single attack is like this, but it's way too frequent that most of your deaths will be the result of them. It genuinely feels like they designed actually solid telegraphing and went "make the last part 200% faster". Check out the scrapped watchman attack where he spins his arm and slams down, that shit is masterfully done. Still the best souls-like.
I have to disagree with the Black Rabbit Brotherhood fights. I found them to be extremely fun and thought they were better gank fights than Ornstein and Smough even. But thats a personal preference, good job on the video besides.
I don't agree about the bosses having the Sonic Frontiers problem. Puppets are jerky, monsters are lumbering, humans are... Well, human as expected. The Black Rabbit Brotherhood's second fight shouldn't feel any different from the first aside from a few projectiles from the inactive siblings. And legion arms are insanely helpful. Especially Fulminis and Puppet String for staggers and knockdowns. Falcon Eyes and Deus Ex are helpful too for ranged options. Your level up gripe isn't entirely unfounded, but you can level up anywhere after reaching the Isle of Alchemists. And NG+ makes things even more convenient, along with unlocking some cool features
Thanks for the feedback! I want to make it clear that not all the bosses have the Sonic Frontiers problem. I only meant to say that those issues appear sometimes. I believe I've heard the argument about the jerky puppet movement justifying an abundance of delayed attacks before, and while I get the sentiment, I can't say I completely agree. I think it's entirely possible to animate attacks with a greater variety of telegraphs while still maintaining the characteristics of the puppets. The Black Rabbit Brotherhood's second fight doesn't feel that different from the first fight, but there are a few key reasons why I dislike the second fight more. The first reason is pretty simple. It's a recycled boss encounter. The other primary reason why I dislike the second fight more is because you are forced to fight the entire brotherhood. It's entirely possible to win the first encounter by defeating the Eldest and ignoring the others. I don't find this to be impossibly difficult, but just tedious. I believe I primarily was using the Falcon Eyes by that point in the game. I apologize for not mentioning the changes NG+ brings. That's something I likely should have covered. However, that does not change the fact that you need to keep going back to Hotel Krat through most of your first playthrough. Again, it's simply a gripe. It ended up not being that big of a deal because I really liked Hotel Krat as a hub area. Anyway, I hope that clears a few things up.
Amazing game. This game gave me vibes of the old school Nightmare Creatures in the train district. I feel this is a masterpiece in the making, Is that Wizard of Ozz next?
Great video, though I would title it something different. When I saw it in youtube's main page, it came off to me as a rhetorical question, as a way of saying "Lies of P isn't a good game by any stretch of the definition", when your opinion when watching the video clearly isn't the case.
Thank you! I very much appreciate the feedback. I was hoping the thumbnail would give a hint as to what the verdict of my review might be, but I'm sorry to hear that wasn't the case. I'll consider a new title soon.
Unpopular opinion... From soft should take notes about some things that Lies of P does better than their games. Yes, I know the Soulsborne community can't accept that these games have, my Lord, flaws just like any other videogame, but that's honestly how I feel.
The biggest problem with Lies of P is the title. When it came out on Game Pass I had never heard of it before launch and quickly brushed it off because of the silly title. I'm not a big fan of soulslikes or the Dark Souls games personally so it just didn't pull me in enough to disregard the goofy title.
this developers of lies of p also made the mmorpg game "bless unleashed" which is actually a great game with a huge potential, but sadly neowiz decided to sell the game after only 5 months to a diffrent company because they didnt made enough money i guess...and this new developers are pretty bad and the game is kinda dead but i still played bless for over 6500 hours because i love this game so much....i have some videos on my channel if you want to know how it looks like. cheers
Game kinda easy bruh the encounter design is like u walk and you face an enemy, you walk some more another enemy. Is just weak doesn't really challenge
Lies of p is not a good game. The bosses are extremely poorly calibrated for different play styles so much so that the devs have nerfed some of them. The world is bland and the NPC’s talk incessantly but you are never invested to care. All those that are sucking off this game are shamelessly stupid. I am at the door guardian boss and I can honestly say that I have never enjoyed myself once in this game. The game forces you to perfect parry but unlike sekiro the rewards are not worth the effort to master the mechanics.it’s a silly game that decided to make a hard game to surpass fromsoft but the difference is fromsoft is hard but fair, lies of p is difficult and not fair. Poorly calibrated.
"The game forces you to perfect parry but unlike sekiro the rewards are not worth the effort to master the mechanics" No it doesn't. Stop playing it like Sekiro. Dodge exists
@@robertwhiteley-yv1syIf it's any solace I actually agree with you 100%. Lies of P fans just need everyone to know how much better they think the game is compared to all others.
I think the algorithm has blessed you my friend - this vid appeared to me outside of the third slot. It's about to blow up.

Really enjoyed Lies of P but Nioh is the best soulslike for me
This review is way too good to go so criminally unnoticed. Excellent video, just subbed!
I have yet to see a video of this game that makes me want to play it.
I have to disagree with the Black Rabbit Brotherhood fights. I found them to be extremely fun and thought they were better gank fights than Ornstein and Smough even. But thats a personal preference, good job on the video besides.
I agree the first encounter is pretty good but the second one is the worst fight in the game lol. And Ornstein and Smough is highly overrated.
i would have thought you had like at least 50k subs judging by the quality of this video, great job!!!
I'm halfway through the game, it's gonna be a 9/10 at least. Great review you got a sub ❤
As far as gank fights go, both black rabbit fights are pretty damn good imo
I'm here letting you know that I want more Lies of P content from u
Throwing a sub on brother, godspeed
Great review! keep on going!
great review man love when the algorithm plugs smaller creators you gonna blow up keep at it!

The whole automaton soulslike thing teminds me of steel rising.

love this game
