Hey peeps. This is my first review-type video, so hopefully I did the game justice. One thing I think I, and others, seem to have got wrong is the publisher/developer. I believe the developer is actually Round8 Studio, and Neowiz being the publisher. If this is the case I'll be sure to remedy this in build guides. Yes, there will be build guides! Since I finished off the script for this vid (everything's moving very fast with this game, so I drew the line then), the developer has already announced a big update is being worked on, and has committed to a roadmap for the game's future. They did all of this in the apologetic tone usually reserved for AAA studios when they've released a broken mess, when in fact, they've smashed it out of the park with this one. Love this studio and can't wait to see what's next. Hope you like the vid!
For a first review video, this was fantastic. I loved the vid, agreed with most things. However my biggest complaint in the game is a lack of any sort of poise. Look forward to your Lords of the Fallen review.
Noticed you didn’t mention using shot puts for breaking stagger and getting the fatal attack. Super useful for any build, but especially for big weapons.
This is a fantastic review of the game, both thoughtful and spot-on. I can’t wait to see the challenge and speed runs, either. In fact, if you want to see a really cool one, go watch StefDoesAThing beat the game without a weapon in his right hand.
Saying that you show spoilers but that the audio is spoiler free is something that most other reviewers fail to mention. Your review is 10/10, you were born for this job.
the runbacks to the mini bosses are actually extremly short , there is a trick to it wich is a bit wierd , usually the shortcut is very close but AFTER the mini boss so what you have to do is: run past the boss , and unlock the shortcut and then come back to fight him when you have the shortcut or next checkpoint unlocked
Certain fables have sort of hyper armor. The pipe wrench when charging doesn't get interrupted but you do take damage, so you can sort of brute force a fable charge attack for the fatal.
Use the shotput throwing item you eventually get in the game. It instantly staggers an enemy when their bar is glowing. It’s way, WAY easier than trying to depend on your charged attack. Pro tip-tip-tip-tip.
I personally never had a problem with the parry window, The only real problems I had was not seeing some enemy attacks, camera when your pushed up against a wall and run backs to main bosses
i was using the bonesaw and exploding pick handle going against romeo. the whole fight i cant strafe right because if i did my weapon would cover half the screen lol. idk why but when locked on to that boss the camera goes up so close that you can sniff P's ass if you want to.
My only parry issues we’re against nameless puppet in phase two. With all the red and yellow moving lines around him it was almost impossible to see when the attacks were going to connect. Pretty much the rest of the game outside of a few attacks you can dodge instead of parry, just makes the fight take a little longer.
As someone who has never played a souls like game before and just beat the game only using summons on one boss I gotta say while at points it was definitely frustrating, the feeling you get when you actually learn a bosses patterns and get the correct perfect guard timings is unmatched. My game of the year so far.
Then I have to say, you really should try Elden Ring, Dark Souls 3 and Sekiro. Lies of P though is influenced the most by Bloodborne. Unfortunately it's still a 30 FPS game. Bloodborne is my favorite game of all time, and the game Lies of P was mostly influenced by. Other than the 30 FPS, *everything in Bloodborne holds up today. But yeah do yourself a favor and check of FromSoft games. If you really enjoy them, go back and play DS1 and 2. They just don't quite hold up as well.
Lies of P was my first ever soulslike game and it honestly became like a drug. For the first time in a very long time I had a game I was looking foward to playing after work. This game felt amazing in every category because to me I had no frame of reference for the parry system and it honestly felt hard but balanced and rewarding at the same time. It is because of this game that I have discovered a love for an entirely new genre of game and I cannot wait to dive into more
Oh man, I'm kinda jealous. You have so many fantastic games to make your way through now. I dont think I have to recommend the original FromSoft games to you though. You might want to start with something like Dark Souls 3 instead of Elden Ring though. Just so you can get a feel for the original gameplay formula, narrative and style. I think this will make you appreciate Elden Ring a lot more. As you will be able to appreciate the leap from the original Dark Souls series to Elden Ring. It will also make you a lot more familiar with the themes and narrative elements that are shared across basically all of From Software's soulslike games (Dark Souls, Bloodborne, Sekiro, Elden Ring). Also if you immediately jump to playing Elden Ring, you will essentially be playing the best the entire genre has to offer. While I'm sure you would still enjoy it, you'd miss out on a lot that would make you enjoy it even more. And also, everything else will end up feeling like a bit of a downgrade 😅. Dark Souls 3 should also be new enough that it still looks and feels modern/good to control. The original Dark Souls and Dark Souls 2 can feel a bit old and clunky these days. Especially since your first experience was Lies of P which is probably the best soulslike ever made, when it comes to specifically the technical quality and performance/optimization.
I am also rather a beginner in this genre, 7 hours in and so far it is the best souls(like) game for me period. 110 hours into Elden Ring and having peaked both into DS1 and Sekiro, I think Lies of P easily wins for me (within the mentioned time window I know) - I think the fighting is the best I have seen so far, really a perfect blend of the best souls games. DS 1 is not for me since it's all about the invincibility roling, which I find a bit ridiculous and unimmersive as hell. Sekiro I would like but bumped off very quickly due to it's difficulty.. somehow I find it a lot easier to get into Lies of P. So far I think the difficulty is perfect, one small boss I had close to 10 tries, but the rest I killed in 1-3. I hope it does not get much harder though, that would spoil the great story, lore and game progression a bit for me.
what I love about lies of p more than the souls games was that the story was such a big part. The whole reason I wanted to play this game, was because of the source material, pinocchio. I payed three times through it and am thinking of going for NG+3 In the end I am so in love with this game as I haven't been for a long time with any other game.
This is round 8 studios second game ever and first soulslike. I loved lies of p. I dont think the game is perfect but its incredible how such a new and small team was able to create a game like this. Great video!
It really is incredible bearing in mind it's their first attempt. If Lord's of the Fallen is this good, it'll be really impressive, and thats their 4th(?) souls game. Thanks for watching, Miguel!
I never really thought of myself as an expert gamer and I've been gaming for about 20 years. I've never played a soulslike before because I was too intimidated. I got this game because I thought the story was interesting. I struggled of course but it still didnt stop me from loading up new game plus. It easily fit right into one of my top 5 favorite games of all time. If someone like me can beat this game then anyone can. ❤
It really is. Yeah, I actually didn’t realise till I’d finished the game and was watching others how OP consumables are. That would have been helpful knowledge at many points!
@@ThingfishyGaming the same was true for me. I think I realized their usefulness around the Black Rabbit fight from watching an Ongbal video. What’s kinda cool is that they’re not cheap, and so you have to know the fight well enough to know when to use them (at least if you don’t wanna farm). So they’re helpful, but kinda not broken.
As someone who has dabbled in Souls games over the years but never beat one due to multiple reasons, this game is one of my favorite games of all time. It took me almost 2 months of playing here and there an hour or two when I got the chance to finally beat this game and wow.. I’m so glad I stuck with it. By day 2 I was convinced I wouldn’t be able to do it, but the game kept drawing me back. Like you mentioned, once combat “clicked” for me I couldn’t play anything else. I still got smashed consistently time after time (my wife can attest to the rage this induced at times 😂) but after finally beating each boss it was so rewarding. I may get hate for not being a fanboy for the series but I can confidently say I am gonna go back and try Dark Souls and Elden Ring and actually try and beat them this time. Not sure how many people get introduced to those games through this game, but I’m not mad about it at all.
This video deserves more views and likes. From the choice of background music to the tone of your voice, the quality of your review is a state-of-the-art, similar to the quality of Lies of P when it comes to Soulslike genre.
Some of Lies of P bosses are in that difficulty area where I know I'll be able to beat it eventually, but I really just don't want to because I'm not having fun. But I have to if I want to progress. Which is a shame because most of the game is fantastic
It's the same feeling I had in sekiro with Juzou the drunkard. The amount of attempts plus the unforgiving runback was just NOT fun. But everything after that was probably the best fromsoft experience I had, dare say even better than elden ring. So I can't really fault Lies of P in that regard, because it ain't new for me.
I'm at halfway through and it was the archbishop for me. In my 7 years of playing soulslike games this was the only boss where I said "I've had enough" and summoned the spectre then the boss went down on the first try. The game is hard enough as both parry and dodge is harder to pull of compared to Sekiro and Bloodborne but I only have 5 heals for a 2 health bar boss fight.... That stopped being fun after 50 minutes of suffering. Not to mention attacks are a million times harder to read in this game compared to most soulslikes. Too many boss attacks fall into this category where the first part of the attack is delayed then the delivery is insanely quick so it's impossible to react properly for the first few times and it becomes a memory game.
For me it’s a small pushes that some bosses attacks has. Like the boss can hit within a specific range. But sometimes the same attack has a small push towards you that changes its range and hits you when you thought you dodged. It forces me to back away much further than I would want to
@valentinvas6454 Key to bosses is, don't be ashamed to use the specter, it's there for a reason. Utilise the wishstone cube and take your time. Once you learn the perfect guards of bosses, they become so much easier! Except for the Door Guardian, screw that guy
Definitely! I only found out about how strong consumables are after finishing and watching other people. Hence the lack of them in this video. Will definitely play a big part in build guides though.
Great review. 100% agree with you on most everything. I do wish the parry window were slightly bigger, because that is my absolute favorite thing about it. Not all of us have Ultra Instinct reflexes like Ongbal.
Yeah, parrying is definitely the more satisfying option. Haha, yeah if only! I watched his Laxasia fight straight after beating her myself, to see how hard I'd made it for myself. First thing he does is parry the projectiles. I'd been dodging them for a whole day and never once thought to try it.
Sometimes I go into a boss fight not even trying to win the first couple times strictly trying to parry then once I have a good rhythm for how they attack I implement the parry with dodging and blocking and that has helped get it down.
@@sdotwallace Agreed they are nothing compared to From's run backs. I'm simply agreeing with ThingFishy that if you're not going to make them hellacious, then there's no point in making a runback at all for the amount of times most players will die trying to learn the boss moves. So Champion Ivan fight, Puppet King, Discarded Watchman off the top of my head. Just unnenessary. Heck even the little runback to the Black Rabbit Brotherhood part 1 fight is silly. Just have us respawn right in front of the door using some form of Stake of Merrica. Not a major complaint, just seems like an odd choice by the devs.
@@cornthdl I have definitely said multiple times in this game so far "Why is there nothing like Stakes of Merrica?" I love the game but there are decisions made here and there and aspects of the design that I have no clue how anyone either didn't think of it or failed to address it.
That multi boss fight was rough. I remember fighting them for the first time, getting into the fourth guy before dying, and telling my friend "this'll take 2 more tries tops." it probably took another 25 tries and when I finally beat them the next day I screamed and cheered and was legitimately surprised I won but it felt amazing
The problem with the parry system isnt necessarily the window itself, though it is stupidly brutal, but the lack of intuitive telegraphing and the position of that window, time wise. Enemies will do Elden Ring style long wind ups and then the actual follow through will be blazing fast. The window in ER is at the apex of the windup PLUS the very short time you see the arm/weapon start to move forward, in LoP the window is small and only at the apex of the windup which isnt fair. You can only parry by knowing the timing vs actual visual cues, and thats not good design IMO. You shouldnt *have* to get pummeled several times until you learn the exact timing of the attacks, you should be able to see the windup and reasonably tell when to parry first time around. If they added just a little bit of extra telegraphing, the balance in parry vs dodge would remain and you'd make it more fair/accessible. As it is, it feels a little cheap. Still a fantastic game.
Spot on 100%. Telegraphing of attacks in this games don't facilitate learnability well or reinforce good reflex after each boss, mostly a guessing game at timing and how well you memorize them.
Agree 100%. This and the overly large mini boss HP pools are the only two significant gripes I have with the game. Parry window is fine, its the animation/telegraphing that is troublesome.
One of the things that makes it worse is the fact that you have to be holding block when you're getting hit. A half second buffer window for blocking helps a lot already. With the parry window being as short as it is, the time it takes to release and then re-press the block button is way too long, that's why in Sekiro if you press block and you miss the deflect you still get to block the attack without holding the key. The other thing with such precise timings is that it makes your hardware a super important factor in your gameplay. You gimp yourself by playing it on a TV, while using a high refresh rate and low latency monitor and playing at 144 fps makes parrying actually rather easy. Disabling vsync also helps a lot. I believe that's why FromSoft made the deflect window in Sekiro longer, they're used to developing for console and console players tend to play on TVs which have garbage latency. About the wind-up thing, I think wind-up is absolute cheap garbage and makes the game play and feel horrible. I hate DS3 and Elden Ring for that very reason. Lies of P does better on that front in most fights with moves actually being smoothly animated and having realistic dynamics, but that sadly goes out the window for the most part in the later bosses.
I can totally agree with this parry timing is easy once you get it down but for all the bosses it's literally impossible to just party and react the first time and you have to get hit multiple times before you get the feel of it. But I definitely think it's made less bad since blocking is really strong and you can just block a move the first few times to get the feel of it before you try to parry it
20:44 the run backs aren’t even that bad. You said there was only 1 run back that was fine when like all of them are except for the 2nd black brother hood fight and maybe the scrapped watchman. Parade master is like extremely close. For fuoco you can literally run past all of the enemies and they will just go back to where they were. For arch bishop Andreas he is quite close as well especially because of the shortcut. For the black brotherhood boss fight 1 you can literally just run past everyone. For the king of puppets he is in front of you after you get the shortcut. For the swamp monster he is also quite close with no enemies. For corrupted parade master it is the same as the parade master run back just a slight bit longer. Laxasias runback is extremely short since it it right in front of you and Simon manus he is also in front of you. Edit: I forgot to include the door guardian who is really the only one who has a bad runback
The thing that is really annoying about the perfect guards above and beyond the strict timing is that certain elite enemy and boss attacks will knock you back a good distance even if you perfect parry them, forcing you to waste time and stamina running back to the enemy, preventing a punish window and giving the enemy more time to recover and rev up another attack. I’m on the King of Puppets and I have all his parry timings down for the most part but half of his fucking attacks will *still* knock you back when perfect guarded. Getting punished like that for executing your parries consistently feels awful, and having to constantly get back into attack position afterward is incredibly annoying!
I think this is exactly where the "Lies of P is all about perfect guarding" logic can make life harder. Most of the bosses/attacks that knock you back are far easier to dodge in the first place. Like I said in the vid, there's certain bosses that feel really rough to parry, but when dodged, really aren't that much of a problem.
@@ThingfishyGaming that doesn’t explain why the red fury attack in the King of Puppets’ first phase, which you literally cannot dodge and *have* to parry, ALSO knocks you back. I do get the idea though, mixing dodging and parrying is probably the way to go, but imho “let’s give certain otherwise easily parryable attacks a knock back effect” was a bad way of teaching the player that lesson. Also this is not an issue at all with the Archbishop, which I loved because it was a large boss that still was pretty easy and very fun to parry, and even his big belly slams don’t knock you back when guarded. The problem I’m having with King of Puppets is that if every attack can be consistently parried, there’s no reason why I shouldn’t be able to go with that strategy. The knock back effect I keep complaining about is this totally arbitrary thing that just elongates an otherwise engaging fight. Anyhow great review thingfishy I was just malding about this issue earlier and was wondering if anyone else could relate, lol
I commented before I got to that part of your video.@@ThingfishyGaming Gonna have to give it a try! I have been just blocking/parrying mostly. To be honest, it has been more brute strength than anything with the Holy Sword of the Ark. But King of Puppets is brutal.
@@ClydeNutIf the red attack the puppet does is the one where he belly flops on you then you don't have to perfect gaurd it. You can just proceed to run behind him and even avoid the second hit completely. You might miss up the timing a couple times but not too hard to get used to and when you do you get big damage.
Bro thanks for all your videos you really became my fav TH-camr in no time hope this helps and motivate. I know you never teased it or anything but I hope you’ll do a bloodborne and ds1 guide one day 🤞
Completely missed this! Thanks, Lightwork! Just add you to the credits of the next vid. Thanks for your support. Bloodborne and DS1 guides will definitely happen!
really just depends on the build and how quickly you figure out a boss. My sister played a balanced build and she beat mad donkey 1st try. I was playing a strength build and I think it took me around 5 tries.
I definitely have a few criticisms. Pretty much every boss after a certain green fella is too hard. They're all doable, with some luck, but I have spent literally 30-40 tries on some of them and leaves you feeling like the skill needed to beat the boss is unattainable. The reason is the perfect block system. Yes, it is necessary to widen that window, because the bosses force you to perfect block, especially the late game ones. They all do a crazy combo, rest for one second, then do another combo. There is no chance to recover stamina unless you perfect block. The bosses also have false telegraphs, no telegraphs and extremely delayed telegraphs on most attacks which are intended to throw you off your block game. That means you have to rely on reflexes to get those necessary perfect blocks, but unfortunately the boss attacks are faster than you can raise your weapon. This in turn means you have to predict attacks, not react to them, but you can't predict a lot of them, creating a circle of problems. The damage a boss can do is ridiculous. Even with high HP most bosses you fight are capable of killing you in one combo, or two heavy strikes. So failure to predict attacks for perfect blocks results in most of your health bar dipping out. Lastly, and this is a big one, the ergo economy. I never felt like I could properly grind levels to overcome a boss. You can't backtrack a bit and just kill enemies who gain enough ergo to make it worth your while, because even late game enemies only drop 1-300 ergo. The larger ones only drop 1500. That makes grinding for that 16k level up a chore. And leveling up once barely produces results, so if you need to grind for levels to beat a difficult boss, be prepared to do a LOT of grinding. It can take hours to see results. In short, the game is really terrific, until late game, when all of the little issues start piling up and ruin the experience.
Honestly this game felt great for me for the most part. My main complaint being the mini-bosses just felt incredibly overtuned and their runbacks were annoying as hell. Luckily many of the mini-bosses late game are reskins or exactly the same as previous ones. The bosses were very challenging but never felt unfair, until I reached the final few bosses. I struggled a lot with the deflect timing throughout the game and it felt like you needed to deflect to beat these bosses. Where as many of the previous bosses dodging was a super viable strategy. In combination with their ridiculously fast moveset, high health, and insane damage they just felt completely unfair and I really didn't enjoy any of them. Bosses like the Archbishop and King of Puppets were brutally difficult but I felt like they were fair when I ended up finally beating them. After I beat the final three bosses I was like "F-ing finally" because they just weren't fun. Theres a fine line between difficult and fun and difficult and and absolute nightmare. I felt like these bosses were specifically designed to just be insanely difficult without balance in mind. Especially the first main one in the final area. This boss just felt like they designed it to be bullshit and annoying. The first phase was hard enough, then the second phase was even harder and more bullshitty.
Really? I felt like the last two could have been around 50% harder for my preference. And I'm not someone who is great at these games; I lost 8 times to the mad donkey, 17 to the Scrapped Watchman and 16 to Fuoco, even like 20 to the King of Puppets, but all of them were good. Yet the last two took me four tries and five tries.
This isn't a comment on lies p or the review because I really love this game already...I only stumbled upon you but this editing and sound design and clear effort you put into the video is amazing and it's unique. You're like vatividiya but also still your own thing. I love this type of content and you are very good
I was cruising along until I hit the Archbishop, then sh*t got real 😂. Had to farm a little and upgrade, learn his patterns, then finally beat him. Reminded me of souls games. Loving this game so far
@@DzengizTafa i know you don't wanna hear this but fr the watchman is cake compared to the archbishop. i've beaten every souls game twice and i'm still stuck on archbishop
@@memphiskash don't know if this will work for you but I just ran behind him in phase 2 cause then it's pretty similar to phase 1 and it's a lot easier to parry those moves
I absolutely blow at Soulslike games. Played ds1 and 2 for a collective 3 hours. Put a decent amount of time into ds3 but my friend who bought me the game carried me though 4 of my playthroughs while teaching me how to play. Didn't even last an hour into Bloodborne. But this? I just started playing it on Monday and I already have about 42 hours in. I love it. This game feels way less unfair than any souls game, I very rarely ever feel like I'm being cheated or I died unfairly. Biggest bumps in the road for me were Fuoco, Swamp Monster and that fuckin jester down in the wine cellar. The designs for the Black Rabbit Brotherhood are perfect imo. This game fucks. To anyone that doesn't like Soulsborne games, I urge you to give this one a try.
One of my biggest complaints with this game is that it doesn't really have any "boss cool down" areas. Like whenever I hit a particularly frustrating boss in the game, there's never another area I can go visit that potentially has another boss to fight, some enemies to farm, items/upgrades to discover, etc. The game's levels are all one after another so if you get stuck on one then you're gonna bash your head against that boss until it breaks, which heavily contributed to me burning out in the final quarter of the game. These types of games NEED side areas that allow players feel like their progress isn't 100% halted if a boss is too hard. Not asking for an Elden Ring sized world (cuz that's ridiculous) but Bloodborne and the Souls games all generally had branching levels that let you explore different places if you ever felt stuck.
A very good point of which I agree. This game is so close to being one of my fav's but in short w/o writing a book the game has serious balance issues to the point that if they release a sequel and they don't address them; I will be passing up on it. They got so much right w/ this game tho but the balancing is just so far off.
This game is difficult because it makes you become a better gamer. I installed it on XBox, sucked on the tutorial miniboss, and quit playing for weeks. I went back to it after getting back into Elden Ring and actually learning how to dodge and parry. If you play it long enough to get muscle memory, then you can focus on the timing of attacks. It requires patience and a lot of dying
The Archbishop pissed me off really badly but I was doing much better against the rabbits and I was laughing like a maniac when his comically large weapon broke in half.
The reward for parrying is literally its major problem. Parried attacks can still stun you in place. You receive no bonus reward beyond keeping your hp (gee thanks game) and potentially staggering a boss once per phase. It's just really dumb how they punish you for blocking, but barely reward you for engaging in parrying. Hell, even ripostes after stagger breaks don't even do much damage. The only mass benefit it serves is cutting down their regain HP, which is another dumb mechanic that shouldn't be in the game as it only furthers the egregious length of punishing blocking, and taking the piss when it comes to rewarding parrying
@@bladechild2449did you try attacking? Upgrading your weapon? Leveling up!? my ripostes deal ungodly damage, you can stagger them more than once per phase as well
Wow!!!!, i have to say, you are terrific at this.. I just started playing the game, but don't really read those letters. After watching this, i will read everything i come across so i get an immerse experience. Thank you and keep on posting and i will keep watching and liking
I never thought this game was hard, after playing every souls game through the years, this is quite a relaxing game esspecially with the parry mechanic
Another thing to add that in addition to parrying or dodging, just blocking an attack is viable as well, especially when learning a boss. The regain system is really great - it gives you some breathing room, rather than needing to parry every attack like in Sekiro. I'm midway through my playthrough right now, and I honestly haven't been perfect guarding all that much, and have been able to beat the bosses in less than 5 tries. It's really great how any playstyle you want to adopt is viable in this game!
The Parry Window isn’t the problem although it is strict. The issue is that boss’s will have 3 second delays and then 2 frame down swings. Parrying in these games require observation of boss’s animations and keying in on telegraphed moves. Even in Elden Ring boss’s delayed attacks still had natural animations where you can at least follow a boss’s attacks. Not in this game since attacks give you no time to observe. It feels cheap because you’re not rewarded by following the flow of combat but by memorizing attack patterns and guessing the timing
You have a talent for making reviews, dude. Well done! You should do them more often. I'm also curious about your opinion on Lords of the Fallen (in case you tried it), so far reception seemed to be quite mixed on it but I personally have had fun with it.
Thank you, mate. Means a lot! Yeah, I'm working on the Lords of the Fallen review currently. I wasn't a fan unfortunately. Shame, as the openess of it seems so perfect for some build guides and silly stuff. Saw you're on that already! Devs seem super responsive to feedback though, and a lot of my criticisms are becoming obsolete almost daily, so I'll probably revisit it in a month or two. Hope you're doing well, mate!
Great video! This is my first souls game and I’ve loved it. I’ve put about 35 hours into the game and ive been stuck on the final boss for a day now, his second phase is absolutely brutal
I'm not gonna write an essay on why i love Lies of P, even with some of it's flaws (you already did that haha)...I'm just gonna say that this was one of the best reviews i've seen! Absolutely amazing blend of emotions, music and insight. Thank you :)
Yeah, it's definitely too tight imo. Especially with all the crazy delayed attacks, the deflecting just doesn't feel super satisfying like in Sekiro. At least dodging is an option too.
Just stand further away from the enemy so they miss when they try to swing on you and you can also Dodge side-step and run around them then attack. Blocking and parrying Is not what you should be doing about half the time in this game
i dont think its the window that is the problem, its the fact that the guard animation is too slow, like i can accidentally press the parry way too early but it takes like a second to be able to do it again. it isnt instant like sekiro, it feels like you are playing a souls character in a bloodborne game. everything just feels ever so slightly too slow.
Great review!!! I just got back to Chapter X on NG+ and wanted to see what other people thought of the game! And apparently I was right in thinking this game is amazing! You summed it up perfectly! Easily in my top 10 of games! 🙏🏽
I see that this is your first review type video, so kudos. That being said, why have I seen 0 reviewers mention how damage is randomized? You can literally approach an encounter the exact same way twice and still die one of the times because RNG said so.
Fable arts of 3 now have 100% hyper armor Also The most op build avalible is one that came to me naturally The Elusive Crackhead build Choose balnance build at the start of the game Pour all your points into HP Until you hit vitality 31 Then pour your points into vigor until its 17 Then up motivity and technique by 3 Then capacity by 2 The Pour more into Vitaility Uograde your favorite weopon The strat for this build is Don't get hit in the words of piccolo "dodge" If you do get hit its cool cuz it did no damage
Man I have to say that for being your first review-type video, you did a hell of an awesome job, I got exited and motivated to keep playing the game, awesome video keep up the good work!!!
I'm so glad at 20:15 you're mentioning issues about leaving the camera. I was curious if I was the only one who found it frustrating to perfect parry an attack I literally could not see. I think it's an oversight more than anything, but it feels pretty obviously there
By the end of NG++ (third playthrough) I had capacity at 86, weight ratio was around 150~/298 or something like that, and there's some ng++ skill tree abilities which make you far lighter, so I was able to use several weapons, several legion arms and several hefty rings whilst still being light weight which is pretty fun ^^
I honestly don't get why people keep saying it's really hard? It's not it's really not, the difficulty is equal to or even lower than most of Fromsoftwere games. I feel like a lot of people who say the game is hard didn't play Sekiro, because the game realies heavily on guard and perfect guard, dodging is not your best defensive option. Once you realize that the game gets pretty easy. I'm not really that good at souls games I summoned my whole play through of Elden Ring and I can barely defeat Malenia with a Mimic, but in LoP I didn't use the npc summon because it made boss attacks harder to predict therefore harder to perry, the perry is a great defensive and offensive tool and it made the game so incredibly satisfying to play and beat.
To be honest, this is a top 3 soulslike to me, including fromsofts games. It really clicked for me about halfway. The game doesn’t want you to parry everything, nor does it want you to dodge everything. The game wants you to learn the moveset and pick two to three attacks you’re confident you can parry, and dodge or otherwise avoid the rest. Build up that stagger meter and punish whenever possible. This game is the most beautiful blend of all the combat systems in souls games with its own twists. With p-organs, weapons, legion arms, and amulets there are sooo many play styles that are equally powerful at your disposal. The game perfectly encapsulates what a boss fight is supposed to be. It’s a test. They don’t rely on insane damage output nor extremely tanky healthbars or hyper aggression and speed to be difficult. They’re purely just unique and must be learned. Could they adjust the parry window a few frames? Yeah, but it definitely shouldn’t be on the level of sekiro as that would make parrying a one size fits all situation which I think would ruin the blend that this game has.
This game is so good. I don't think it's getting as much recognition (because of difficulty and many people coming from Elden Ring not being able to handle it) but over time this game is going to solidify itself as a classic Soulslike. Excited to see the direction this studio is going.
@@realsavage-lh1id i was gonna say bro is smoking crack lmao im on chapter 8 on lies of p and havent had even close to the trouble as I had with elden ring
LMFAO!! Coming off Elden Ring not being able to handle it?? Dude, stop with the Dunning Kruger. Literally finished the first playthrough with dodge only on a strength build. I hate when people with limited knowledge speak as if they know more than the bare minimum.
@@MrShin700 Right!? Dude the Tree Sentinel is there to greet us as soon as we start the game. There is nothing close to that in lies of p just casually walking around. The OP is either off his meds or on some strong ones.
The parry window is actually fine. It takes hours to get used to, but once it clicks you start parrying subconsciously. It also is a sort of thing that demands perfection but also doesnt punish you if you just do a normal guard.
Except...it does punish you for normal guarding because you lose health and can full on just die even when guarding. As someone who has played a ton of Souls and Souls likes I do feel the window is a hair too tight, especially for how many attacks come out with little to no windup, not to mention fury attacks just straight up requiring it.
I'm making my way through the game. Loving it so far. 10/10. My only complaint is that bosses in this game can be pretty BS and feel too difficult. The best one was Victor. The rest is often "learn delayed rhythm by heart". The telegraphs are all over the place and the perfect parry window is atrocious and that's coming from someone who played and finished almost every souls and FromSoftware game. The 2nd phase of Green Monster is just bad.
This truly a beautiful review bro really appreciate the time and effort 🙏🏿. Love your approach on how you explain it thoroughly. I was a little not interested anymore in the game but your video and vibes gives me hope. Won't get it anytime so9n but definitely before the year ends. I cannot wait for your builds and epic montages man 😅😂 let's go! See you soon 👊🏿💯
This is the best FromSoft game that isn't a FromSoft game. The only FS game I put above this is Bloodborne (I haven't played Sekiro). I'm more excited for the sequel to this than I am any other game coming out soon. It was so frustratingly difficult, but every death, I knew where I messed up. I could pinpoint the timing issue, or the missed dodge exactly and it always ended up feeling fair to me. I can't say the same about all FromSoft games, except Bloodborne which fills in the same area as Lies of P. It's my GotY, easily.
You forgot one thing in critiques imo. Having to teleport back to hotel krat every time I want to level up is one of the most annoying things in the world to me for some reason. Only takes like an extra 15-20 secs, but it's entirely unnecessary. Wouldn't make the game any harder by letting us level up at the stargazers. Edit: I don't know if this changes or not in late game, I'm only about halfway through the cathedral
How on earth did I forget this. I actually wrote this bit of the script in my head while I was playing and still forgot to put it in. Great shout. Yeah, its pretty weird how they let us do it first of all and then take the ability away from us when we meet Sophia. Thanks for watching!
@@ThingfishyGaming I think it's to encourage experimenting with new equipment you find on the dummies or upgrading equipment as well. At the very least, you can refill your fable by just entering the training area (unless they patch this later)
Hey! Grazing my forehead on my metaphysical sword. I aborted purchase of this game when I saw it was a Souls like. But you Sir sold me. I'm up for some hard punishment. But at a reduced price on PS Network? And YOU! Let's f'ing do this! May Marbas punish you mighty if its rubbish. But I will Steve Hawking this Monster to the end. :)
My only issue is how linear it is. In other souls games, there's something else to do when you're frustrated with a boss. In this game, it's fight the boss or grind an already explored area
Agreed , you can look around and think " oh maybe i can get up there or there is secret path", but no , its just the environment. But the game is still good IMO
I beat the entire game without parrying/blocking since I never even found the button for it in the souls games. (gotta love Fromsofts lack of keyboard conversions of the early game tips.) So to me the parry windows felt perfectly fine ;)
It's crazy how eloquently you put all my thoughts into speech. Almost every praise and every criticism I felt while playing the game having played every fromsoft game and just finished lies of P.
only thing that holds this game back for me is how linear it is, if it had multiple routes with some mini bosses here and there with rewards for exploring would be fantastic
I loved how linear it was. Elden ring and Sekiro I was on TH-cam every 20 min lost and annoyed - I loved how this game I never had to do that. To each their own I guess
Hyper armor after B ranking on modality weapons, ease parrying by 25 percent. Lengthen Iframes on dodge for technique weapons for rank B and up. Decrease damage by 5 percent. That's how I would fix it
I feel like they could double the parry window and it wouldnt hurt the game. Parrying is often too risky to be worth the reward, hence why so many players are running and dodging around mid and late-game bosses rather than parrying. Clearly the devs want you to parry; it builds stagger, it destroys enemy weapons, it activates a 20% damage bonus when you're wearing the right amulet etc, but its too hard for many players and the cost of getting it wrong is brutal. If you miss a parry in the middle of Laxasia's 13 hit combo, you're toast. I'm halfway through NG+ and even now, there are some enemies I just cant get the timing on. Like I block at what feels like the right moment but the perfecf guard doesn't activate.
Just blocking and retaliating works in most situations here. Even with bosses. Its counterintuitive after Sekiro, but deflect is not the main mechanic here.
@@PTHYTQV That was the conclusion i reached, especially as you spec more into guard regain, you can basically recover 100% of blocked damage with ease. Ironically, towards the end of NG+ I started to really feel like I'd begun to master the perfect guard timing and it felt like some enemies and bosses couldn't even land a hit on me.
great video and, above all, great musical choices. hearing dream cave in a souls like review at 2x speed brought me some kind of strange pleasure that i can't quite explain. thank you very much
I’m an older gamer, been gaming since the Atari first came out and started with TV tennis. I watch reviews of every game I buy and for most of those I don’t buy and play. I have my favorite content creators. Unquestionably this is the best review of any game I have ever seen. Great job. I’m subscribing!
I don’t understand the hate on this game? I’ve played all the souls games, and honestly? Lies of P is one of my favorites! I’m almost 42 yrs old andI have beaten all bosses and 2 play throughs with no summons. If I can do it. Not sure why these young people can’t do it
Very good review. Very classy - no swearing, intelligently written, relaxed voice over, gentle music. Excellent. The game was too difficult for me. I gave up at the Puppet Master yesterday, so imagine my joy when I heard that a patch has been releases today to make the game easier, including a Puppet Master nerf. Hope renewed. Hurrah! (I'll probably still get annihilated.)
Edit: King of Puppets was the boss I was stuck on. Best it 2nd try after the patch. Hopefully, this will allow me to see the full game, but still retain a good amount of challenge for my fairly limited ability.
Finishing my New Game Plus Plus run tomorrow. I absolutely love this game. The combat, the build variety, the touching characters and story. It's a surprising masterpiece that I originally picked up only for "Bloodborne but with cute twink". I recommend this game to everyone. Those who love a challenge, those who love a story, and those who just love some cool music and fashion. And mister youtuber, never seen you before but this was an amazing video which I will be using from now on to recommend this game to my friends. You've found a skill and I'm happy for you! Keep being amazing.
Guess what, TF? I did it. I left a sub comment somewhere up there doubting that a non-elitist like me could after fighting the scrapped watchman over 100 times but I’m back to report progress as you requested. I played a little each night. I never once used the specter (still don’t know what it looks like) and beat the game last night. That’s proof that anyone can do it because I’m really not exceptional. I just learned. Manus took me 10. Not every boss was an epic 100. When I played Elden it was my first Souls and I used Mimic and Rivers with Malenia the first time and it still took over 500 tries. I chose not to use a Spector this time because I’ve stopped using ashes in ER and I’ve gotten two no hits in DS3. Nothing crazy-Vordt and Champion Gundyr but Champ took a lot of tries. Anyway, this was a really hard game for me. Nameless Puppet took me 100ish easily. I loved this game with all my heart which is what drove me to make it. I don’t know if I’ll ng+ but I had to return with my tale.
As a «souls veteran» (I know, cringe) I thought the difficulty was perfect, and I wouldnt want it changed at all. If it were any easier I think I would have beaten most bosses on my first attempt. Even the hardest boss of the game it only took me 5 tries but when I finally experienced that adrelaline from beating a hard boss it was awesome, and that can’t be replicated if the game was too easy.
Final comment. Absolutely loved the video I’m so glad so many critics are seeing what I was afraid of being alone in seeing how amazing this game is. As someone who became a souls fan in 2014 I’ve watched and played so many of these games and honestly… Lies of P might be my favorite SOULS game not just souls-like it takes so much of the aspects and ideas of fromsoftware and tweaks them and implements them in away that builds on these ideas. For example, blood vials in bloodborne. I hated this healing system bc if you’re struggling on a section, you can run out of healing and be forced to grind (my least favorite thing to do in any game) instead of continue to improve on the boss or area that keeps killing you. I think the reason they did this though was bc you could pick up healing as you played from enemies and the environment, so you could keep playing without returning to the hunters dream. Lies of P accomplishes this without the blood vial’s flaw by giving you your standard estus, but once you’ve depleted you can regain one heal by consistent attacking without getting hit too much to lose that last bit of health. A small aspect for sure, but it shows the subtle genius and innovation that this game does with fromsoftware’s craftsmanship
Puppet King finally made me break down and install a mod to tune down the damage and it made a world of difference. Suddenly I was able to actually lean the boss' patterns instead of getting flattened in two hits and being send back to an annoying runback. I love the presentation and worldbuilding, but the developers seem to have learned the wrong lessons from Elden Ring's second half.
This is hands down best review of a game i have ever watched, your voice, choice of music and warnings about spoilers, everything was just perfect, also Lies of P is an absolute bangers of a game, i enjoyed every bit of it
Phenominal review! personally, when i faced the creatures you called as mini-bosses, I thought of them as more of an elite style enemy. when you first encounter them, it is a big thing, but not as big as the mini bosses like mad donkey or some of the other stalkers. those i would consider mini-bosses as they had no cinematic, but were unique enemies you did not find anywhere else in the game. I've also fallen in love with the lore and aliterations that they have carefully constructed for LoP. some of the late game informatino you receive is so cool when you think about it in a pinocchio setting. The last thing i'd say is, try the P-organ skill-tree mechanic, it helps drastically as you progress through the game. the abilities that you can unlock "fill the gaps" so to speak and allow you to flesh out your playstyle. Cheers!
harder than sekiro 👀 update: i’ve started playing it. it is not harder than any From Soft games. Pretty tame comparatively, but fun, and very well made
I think the only thing they really should change is making the parry window just a little bit larger or make the damage received when blocking a lot less because if you don’t parry perfectly blocking is essentially pointless.
A few things I've noticed from Lies of P I rarely see people mention: - Enemy damage is comparatively low. My Vitality is 20 right now so I have put quite a few points in it, but one thing I have noticed is that enemies, even bosses, typically have to hit me twice before I have to heal even if it was what is a very slow, telegraphed attack. Coming from Bloodborne where a heavy attack from even some random non-boss enemy could chunk you so hard you have to heal twice, there were times where I didn't even realise I got hit after a failed dodge because the attack did such little damage to my health bar. This is especially true for red attacks. You would think they are very dangerous "all or nothing" moments but red attacks tend to do significantly less damage than the other attacks bosses have, they just have an extremely long and punishing knockdown effect which can lead to you getting wombo comboed. - Consumables, particularly throwing items, are very strong. There's a reason why farming consumables in this game can be so frustrating with the drop RNG and you have a consumable limit: The designers seem to have realised on some level that they are very powerful. I would save my consumables for the second phase and suffice to say it made a lot of boss fights very easy. Lies of P also actually gives bosses weaknesses. - Unlike other souls games where you will go the wiki to see a bosses resistances and you will find they are practically immune to every single condition you can inflict in the game, Lies of P not only gives you decent options to inflict conditions but they also give bosses meaningful resistances and immunities. For example, the Bishop is weak to fire but resistant to acid, and you can screw his second phase over by throwing fire bombs or using a fire grindstone. The closest thing I've found to this was in Bloodborne where there were some kinda-sorta existing rules like "celestials are weak to lightning attacks" and whatnot, but it wasn't super impactful because the game didn't really give you many options for something like that unless you had an extremely specific build.
Lies of P is my first souls like, i beated it in 80 hours, throgh pain, crying and swet and im proud to say i became a lot better as gamer than i was before. the design is brokenly good, i totally fall in love with the game, just as i finished i started again without thinking. The story is so good and this dark fairy tale style blasts. If you think you are a gamer Lies of P is musthave to beat. without hesitation i can recommend it to everyone even if its hard and i can asume a lot of casuals as me will just give up - you shouldn not . just get better and this feeling is awesome
I would absolutely love wider parry windows. I finished the game, but I have to admit that I got really frustrated and almost dropped it quite a few times. I second the notion that it would open up the game to a broader audience. I also see absolutely no problem with difficulty settings. You don't need an easy mode, but some tweaks like parry would be very welcome, like that parry window size or maybe game speed in general - think of players with disabilities, for example. Have an achievement for players who do it without any of the tweaks (I seem to remember Steelrising adding this in later with a patch?) if you want to please the hardcore fans - no harm done.
This game definitely deserves to be praised alongside fromsoft games, however a chunk of the basement dwellers emerged and are hating on the game without even giving it a chance and just calling it a bloodborne wannabe, really wish these kinds of people didnt exist and give actual fromsoft fans a bad rep Edit: Also this video was fantastic man, youre definitely set up to do more of these type of videos
Patch 1.002.000 is out (PS5) and the patch notes talk about balance adjustments. I hope they've not nurf'd the stuff I rely on :) Edit: Lowered the HP of certain bosses. Increased HP and damage of the spectre. And other "adjustments"
Amazing first review video I’ve seen from u and cant wait for these build videos
This is a fantastic review of the game, both thoughtful and spot-on. I can’t wait to see the challenge and speed runs, either. In fact, if you want to see a really cool one, go watch StefDoesAThing beat the game without a weapon in his right hand.
It was co-developed by Round8 and Neowiz with Neowiz also handling publishing.
Saying that you show spoilers but that the audio is spoiler free is something that most other reviewers fail to mention. Your review is 10/10, you were born for this job.
Unfortunately, he said this AFTER showing a boss I didn't know existed...
He spoiled the king of puppets for everyone who hasnt got there
the runbacks to the mini bosses are actually extremly short , there is a trick to it wich is a bit wierd , usually the shortcut is very close but AFTER the mini boss so what you have to do is: run past the boss , and unlock the shortcut and then come back to fight him when you have the shortcut or next checkpoint unlocked
agreed
i first noticed this with the puppet clown
My only real complaint with the game is the total lack of hyper armor when charging heavy attacks...
and fables dude...like its such a bummer because i love flashy shit . still love it though
@@trotoxd6827 Good news the patch that just dropped adds full hyper armour to fable arts with 3 slot costs (including the multi button press ones)
@@timmy1tap678 - Fair. That’s fair.
I personally never had a problem with the parry window, The only real problems I had was not seeing some enemy attacks, camera when your pushed up against a wall and run backs to main bosses
my god you are so right, exactly my issue, I think they need to work on their map, too damn small on most bosses.
i was using the bonesaw and exploding pick handle going against romeo. the whole fight i cant strafe right because if i did my weapon would cover half the screen lol. idk why but when locked on to that boss the camera goes up so close that you can sniff P's ass if you want to.
Guess camera problems are a souls type game mechanic now 😅
@@juancarlossanchezgarcia3272 yeah honestly 😂
My only parry issues we’re against nameless puppet in phase two. With all the red and yellow moving lines around him it was almost impossible to see when the attacks were going to connect. Pretty much the rest of the game outside of a few attacks you can dodge instead of parry, just makes the fight take a little longer.
This was my FIRST EVER SOULS LIKE COMPLETION. I finally get what makes them special.
I’m happy to hear that. I hope you have many wonderful soulslike journeys in the future!
Have fun with the others now!👍
Same case here, I finally get it
As someone who has never played a souls like game before and just beat the game only using summons on one boss I gotta say while at points it was definitely frustrating, the feeling you get when you actually learn a bosses patterns and get the correct perfect guard timings is unmatched.
They just don't quite hold up as well.
what did you think of NP?
@@joshcampos9435 AHHHH, 30 FPS!
I’m using summons on every possible boss first play though and then on NG+ and successive play through we’ll go collect missed items and stuff.
Welcome to the kingdom brother. 👑
I’d say DS1, 3, elden personally
Eh Bloodborne, have fun dude
I payed three times through it and am thinking of going for NG+3
In the end I am so in love with this game as I haven't been for a long time with any other game.
I hope they make millions. They deserve all the success coming their way
@@ThingfishyGamingseeing how awful lords of the fallen turned out makes me respect round 8 so much more
I never really thought of myself as an expert gamer and I've been gaming for about 20 years.
I've never played a soulslike before because I was too intimidated.
I got this game because I thought the story was interesting. I struggled of course but it still didnt stop me from loading up new game plus. It easily fit right into one of my top 5 favorite games of all time.
If someone like me can beat this game then anyone can.
❤
Such a good game. It did something no FromSoft game has ever done: made me regularly use consumables like throwing items.
You have too in this game, they made it to where the parrying has no rewards and the enemy can just spam moves
@@jacobsnipes6244some bosses or enemies do seem to have infinite stamina sometimes 😅
I won my fight against the Green Swamp Monster and the Black Rabbits with a last toss consumable. 😅
@valentinvas6454 sounds like you just are not good enough to solo bosses, use the spectre and don't push yourself beyond your limits.
this video is honestly a work of art man. the music and editing is fantastic.
Shot puts can break a white healthbar and open up the enemy for a fatal attack. Total game changer for when you can’t get a charged heavy attack off
Definitely! I only found out about how strong consumables are after finishing and watching other people. Hence the lack of them in this video. Will definitely play a big part in build guides though.
Yep
Consumables feel cheesy for me, it feels like I'm cheating so I stay away from them.
WHAAATATATATTATATATAT?????? I gotta try it now
Is there a way to get unlimited shot puts
WOW, this video was absolutely briljant. The music was amazing, and your story about this game was really good! You did a awesome job with this one!!
Hell he almost got me to go to steam and buy it but, i think i'm gonna wait a bit for Lords of the Fallen which releases in 2 days. Then compare.
@@Getdown8319 Good plan! Some of those boss runbacks can make that annoying though, as he mentioned haha.
Telegraphing of attacks in this games don't facilitate learnability well or reinforce good reflex after each boss, mostly a guessing game at timing and how well you memorize them.
i never have parried a single attack in these kind of games.
i just master I frames with rolling.
Man your videos are just so cozy to watch and listen to. Like a fireplace should be going while watching them 😂
Glad you enjoy them, Joe! Thanks for watching!
is u silly?
His voice is so ASMR, moist is an understatement for how it makes me feel.
In the next years this will be so beloved as we love the Soul of FromSoftware TTeam
I am at EXACTLY the same point! A parry should not push me back. Kind of the whole idea of...well, parrying.
I commented before I got to that part of your video.@@ThingfishyGaming
Gonna have to give it a try!
Calling Laxasia one of the easier bosses is criminal man💀
I think it was sarcastic 😂 or more likely he was trying to not spoil phase 2
I came to say this
Took 2 tries. Black rabbit 1st fight and walker of illusions were way harder
Sure bro......
really just depends on the build and how quickly you figure out a boss.
Skill issue. Git gud
Haha, yeah I remember thinking it was all going swimmingly up until then. GG, let me know how the rest of your playthrough goes. Thanks for watching!
Ez fight second phase don't target locked since his annoying frame wise, go to his side and punish his legs
Aah I'm getting utterly demolished as of now by the Electric android thing. I think it's the 4th boss? The scrapped watchman.
@@heyguyslolGAMING It has a really good combat system but some of the worst enemies to use said combat system on.
I think one of the things Lies does really well, is the reward for getting good at parrying, in that you break enemy weapons, including some bosses.
Thank you and keep on posting and i will keep watching and liking
what an underrated masterpiece is this video , congrats u made me like lies of p even more
I never thought this game was hard, after playing every souls game through the years, this is quite a relaxing game esspecially with the parry mechanic
It didnt need to bring anything new (vs a fromsoft game) it just refined them and implemented them all together perfectly. Masterpiece
My only issue is the parrying; the window to perform one is almost nonexistent

Top 4 is as far as I'd go. I'd still put Elden Ring, ds3 and ds2 *gasp* above it.
My only complaint with this game is when I have to go to the bathroom and I’m in the middle of a boss fight.
Great video, I’m on last chapter of P, and loved every minute of it, right up there with my favourite Fromsoft games.
An 8 / 10 is well underated. "Lies of P" is the GOTY in my opinion.
This game is so good. I don't think it's getting as much recognition (because of difficulty and many people coming from Elden Ring not being able to handle it) but over time this game is going to solidify itself as a classic Soulslike. Excited to see the direction this studio is going.

Definitely a Masterpiece. Amazing Atmosphere & Gameplay.

Good, I don't need any more big open world games. They are just tedious imo.
I beat the entire game without parrying/blocking since I never even found the button for it in the souls games. (gotta love Fromsofts lack of keyboard conversions of the early game tips.) So to me the parry windows felt perfectly fine ;)
The puppet ripper fabel attack have hyper armour. Thank me later
@@iNGryLtotally agree with you bloodbourne I couldn’t finish it was lost didn’t know where to go just got boring

I don’t understand the hate on this game? I’ve played all the souls games, and honestly? Lies of P is one of my favorites! I’m almost 42 yrs old andI have beaten all bosses and 2 play throughs with no summons. If I can do it. Not sure why these young people can’t do it
Now LOTF 2023 is in that league too
Very good review.
Glad you enjoyed it, Jim. Yeah, KoP seems to be a big bump for a lot of people. Let me know how you get on!
Fantastic video. Insightful and very well written and presented. Great job!
This is one of the best and most soothing reviews I’ve ever watched.
Excellent video. Great music too.
Cheers!
Sick video and great presenting style, Man. I don't own this game, but you've opened that door. Thank you ⚡
harder than sekiro 👀
update: i’ve started playing it. it is not harder than any From Soft games. Pretty tame comparatively, but fun, and very well made
I think the only thing they really should change is making the parry window just a little bit larger or make the damage received when blocking a lot less because if you don’t parry perfectly blocking is essentially pointless.
This is the first dark souls like game I stuck with. I usually rage and uninstall games like that but this is a good game 👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾
A few things I've noticed from Lies of P I rarely see people mention:
- Enemy damage is comparatively low.
Yo this video was a masterpiece. Damn wanted to cry at the end lol
This game definitely deserves to be praised alongside fromsoft games, however a chunk of the basement dwellers emerged and are hating on the game without even giving it a chance and just calling it a bloodborne wannabe, really wish these kinds of people didnt exist and give actual fromsoft fans a bad rep
Edit: Also this video was fantastic man, youre definitely set up to do more of these type of videos
Patch 1.002.000 is out (PS5) and the patch notes talk about balance adjustments. I hope they've not nurf'd the stuff I rely on :)
Edit: Lowered the HP of certain bosses. Increased HP and damage of the spectre. And other "adjustments"
