  • What an unexpected surprise! The Camdeboo Conservancy was formed in 1999 by the farmers association who realised that the conserving of nature was an important part of farming. While we were driving through the conservancy, we couldn’t believe the amount of wildlife we saw in the area. Not to mention the dense vegetation along the road. This is a fantastic place to come and visit. We saw kudu, impala, vervet monkeys and more. These farm owners are really trying to work with nature to make a living. The stay at The Fountain House on the Vrede farm was incredible. The waterfalls just added to the peace and quiet and were just what the doctor ordered. Then, the final cherry on top was finding the old bed grave in the veld less than 1km from the entrance to the Conservancy. We had been looking for almost two hours! #DustBugs #adventuretravel #southafrica #southafricavlog #camdebooconservancy #farmers #nature

What a beautiful Karoo gem this is! I loved the walk down to the river, it felt like I was there. So much to see and so glad you found the surprise. What a story!

So happy you enjoyed the river, it was absolutely gorgeous down there and completely unexpected to see so much water gushing down there continuously. We just had to persevere to find the bed grave, the story has to be told. 🛏️✝️ The fact that not even the upgrade of the road between Aberdeen and Graaff-Reinet disturbed the grave, is fantastic.

We just had to find the bed, there was no way we were going to leave without having seen it for ourselves! And it was worth every minute we searched for it. And you're right, hidden in plain sight, and so easy to spot once you know where it is. Such a special story, one of our favourites so far. 🛏️ So glad you enjoyed the video, thank you! 👌🏻

It's really a beautiful and comfortable farmhouse, we especially loved the fireplace on that chilly evening! 🔥 And completely surrounded by nature, absolutely stunning. Love your comment about the optimistic gutters. One can never underestimate the power of positive thinking! 🌧️

The story is indeed a very special one, we still think of it so often. And to see the bed alone in the middle of the veld, was quite sad. ✝️ What a beautiful tribute to the gentleman's wife though.

This accommodation reminded us so much of Tierhoek Cottages close to Robertson, if you ever get around that side. It is one of our favorite places to visit is SA. Keep up the great travels, we're just loving it from Ireland ☺️

We couldn't believe that those buck could clear the road in two jumps, that was amazing to see! 🦌😳 I loved the walk down to the river and the cascading water was just wonderful to see, so calming and relaxing. The natural beauty in this area is stunning beyond belief.

I came across that bed - saw it, didn't believe my eyes, turned around to investigate. Someone later told me the sad story. I think that was during Easter 1982. The Karoo is a gem, a place I loved since I was a kid in the 1960s. I grew up on a state farm fifty miles from Bloemfontein, or Mangaung, rather, on one of Genl De Wet's farms. That area of the Freestate still is Karoo in terms of biology, just as Worcester-Robertson is SA's 5th official Karoo region. (It should have been #1, in being nearest to the Mother City.) Karoo travel does something to my sould. I can wax lyrical about road tripping through the Karoo. The Camdeboo has always been a favourite stop-over.

Looking for and finding the bed grave remains one of our most memorable experiences since we started discovering the Karoo. 🤩🛏️ You've known the Karoo for much, much longer than we have, but it has found a permanent and very special place in our hearts and we shall always return, no matter the province, to experience the magic quietness of its beauty. We think that's what we love the most. The utter and complete silence, which is so very rare in today's wild, mad existence. Thank you for sharing your love for this special place on our channel. 😍

The lady, also known as my wife, isn't keen on being filmed and, until she hopefully changes her mind one day, I'll respect that. Until then, her voice will just have to do! 🥰🚙
