  • The Camdeboo National Park is the 22nd National Park in South Africa and was proclaimed as such on 30 October 2005. If you are looking for a National Park with spectacular views, this is the one. While we were driving up the mountain in the park, we could not believe that we were in the Karoo with all the lush vegetation around us. The one viewpoint which overlooks the town of Graaff-Reinet was spectacular and from this vantage point we could see how the park surrounds the town on three sides. Then we went up further to see the Valley of Desolation from high up. This was absolutely mind-blowing! I thought this view of the landscape and the cliffs with rocks that are precariously balanced on top of one another was absolutely fantastic. We were very fortunate to see so many different types of wildlife, like the Cape mountain zebra, blesbok, kudu, springbok and ostrich. This was a really inspiring visit and we felt invigorated as we always do when we visit a National Park. #DustBugs #adventuretravel #southafrica #southafricavlog #camdeboonationalpark #graaffreinet #valleyofdesolation

    That was now amazing, the top of the mountain looked like a rondawel on top and the animals so lovely to see so many. The cave so intetesting. Valley of Desolation exceptional. Really enjoyed this episode. Thank you.

      Thank you! The scenery was truly spectacular and we also loved the hilltop shaped like a rondavel! 🥰🛖 We enjoyed seeing so many animals, for us that is essentially what a National Park is about and always the highlight for us. We especially enjoyed the blesbuck and mountain zebra, which we haven't seen often in the past. 🦌🦓

    Youll have to come back again as you missed the bigger part of the park. When you left from the top of the mountain you should have turned left and about 3 km down the road there was another gate to the rest of the park. Lovely seed animals that time of the day as the best time is just after sun rise and before sun set. Love the places you get to see and explore.

      Thank you for letting us know, I've made a note so that we can include when we're in the area again. 👌We had to get to Pearston since we stayed there that evening, so didn't have more time that day sadly. 😏🚗

    The wind is always blowing up there at the Valley of Desolation :-)... I came down that road once after taking a sunset photo at the top....nearly closing time and was rushing a bit...and suddenly from the left this big Kudu appears and ran over the road in front of me...oh boy did I catch a skrik..I am used to watching out for kudus ...but this was so unexpected...

    • @DustBugsTravel
      @DustBugsTravel  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The wind was WILD! I struggled to remain standing at times! 🌬️🌬️ That sounds like a very scary experience with the kudu and it sounds like you were both lucky that you missed it. 😨🐐 That's one of the reasons we're not fond of driving at night, especially in areas where the vegetation is dense on either side of the road. I'm sure the sunset pic was worth all the stress! 🌄

    You need to be up there in a thunder storm. Where are you guys from? Are you on pension that you are able to visit all these place you visit. Would love to be able to do that as well. Enjoy!!

      I can only imagine it there in a thunderstorm, it must be awesome! ⚡🌩️ We're not retired just yet. 😁 We still work full-time and run away every fifth week to see the beautiful places we haven't visited before. 🚗🤩 We live in Strand in the Western Cape. 🌊

    Love your episodes and watching every single one, please make Sonia part of the journey, except for voice, there's power in transparency, it doesn't matter what the narrative and background is. It doesn't matter that she is not the primary presenter, the mystery effect is running out, and ultimately it's about the location and content. My view

    • @DustBugsTravel
      @DustBugsTravel  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm glad you enjoy our videos. 😁🚗 I have known Sonia for 30 years this year and she has never been fond of being filmed or photographed and, until and unless she changes her mind, I'll respect that and those who choose to watch our videos, will have to as well. I'm happy to hear the mystery effect is running out, since it had nothing to do with mystery in the first place. Sonia is the most direct and transparent person I know. In your words, it's about the 'location and content', not about who appears on camera.
