  • This year, our robots braved a Finnish winter for the first time. As the snow clears and the days get longer, we’re looking back on how our robots made thousands of deliveries to S Group customers during the colder months.
At Starship, we pride ourselves on being global leaders - we’re doing things no one has done before. Our robots have learned how to navigate so many different environments over the years, and these advances in winter operations - in both AI and hardware - have increased delivery efficiency by as much as 15%.
Take a look how we did it and learn more at starship.xyz.

Thank you! In the very near future people will be completely free of monotonous labour as has been the dream of humanity since the stone age! These are the first steps. Exiting to witness it all happening quicker than people understand.

Finally a robot delivery firm not in a tropical (snow free) region. Well done! Hope you can start serving in Sweden soon!

Wouldn't wider tires or treads solve most of the issues presented here?

@@antialias Actually that is a bit complicated. Most cars tend to have a slimmer wheel for the winter so that the pressure on to the snow and ice is larger. So wider tire may actually do more harm then good. But on the other hand, a wider tiers with a more aggressive profile would grip better on pure ice. And we haven't even started discussing the control system problems you get from loosing wheel position on ice. That is rely complicated.

@@segment932 by that logic we should be wheels on snowmobiles...

@@antialias No. Snow mobiles ride on the snow by using a lot of power while cars tries to ride on the more stable ground.

Add a tracked system to go over the wheels in winter

so you are working on how yo make more ppl unemployed and without the way if making money. That's what you guys are working on. Before those robots humans could do that job. But they also needed money to be payed for what they did.
