      It’s over priced because your working on an expensive unit that’s not yours.
      What takes me and maybe you 10-15 minutes to complete takes him 30-45 min if not more. He’s force to take his time. I could have an S fully torn down in 8-10 min flat. A PS4 5 min and I’ll bet any amount on that.
      All that he’s doing you can do with the right tool kit and patience. Everything is there just like any other one. Only difference is ownership.
      So in theory. It’s expensive cause it’s time consuming.
      HDMI plug. Quick clean up of solder yank old one out. Clean up seats. Install new HDMI AND SOLDER.
      Most shops will heat up the board for hours before touching it. But it aids in things snapping etc.

    To anyone looking for informations about changing thermal pads in series S, i recommend using 1mm Gelid GC-Extreme - two 80x40mm will be enough for entire console. Also i advise against using mx4 for repasting, it will pump out FAST if you are playing often. Instead i suggest to use gelid GC extreme paste, it's dense and much harder to spread than MX4 but it will last longer.

    • @theknightwithin6187
      @theknightwithin6187 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I can 100% agree with the MX4 regard. I started having loud fan issues indicating that thermal paste was dry on my series s recently and sure enough, the factory paste was pretty much dried up. So I ordered some mx4 and applied it, only for it to continue having the same fan issues like it was overheating. I left it be for awhile thinking that it would eventually set itself, but got worse over time. I then decided to order MX6 paste which is way better than mx4 and reapplied that and my Xbox is back to being silent as of today. So I also don't recommend MX4

    Great step by step. I suspected dust in my 2nd hand one which revved up like a hairdryer instead of the famed 'whisper quiet'. The filth and stinking grit I found inside convinced me I was right. Must have been on the floor with 10 dogs and junkies chain-smoking around it for the 2 years before it was passed to Cash Converters - who by the by simply must have switched it on and wiped the data.

  • @darylandcat

    For the people watching this, if you feel confident in your ability to replace the thermal paste in your Series S, I highly suggest it despite what the "forget about it" shills say. I used XTM50 on mine, gave it all a good clean (the stock thermal paste application was an absolute mess).
    Prior to - the air coming from the top was super hot (like it should be, but it seemed way too hot) and I would see signs of thermal throttling. The fan is static speed and doesn't ramp up as it increases in temps.
    After cleaning the garbage application and using high quality TIM - the air coming from the exhaust is much cooler, the Xbox is also much cooler, and I am getting no signs of thermal throttling.
    Those who know what thermal throttling look like will know what I am talking about.
    Took about 3 full thermal cycles to get the TIM to set in. Broke it in using 3 30 minute Starfield sessions.

    I just took apart my son's XSS to clean it, because it said it had insufficient ventilation, but it has a ton of room, the fan is coming on and there was barely any dust in it. Any suggestions? He just got the expansion card for it and that was as hot as the rest of the console when it shut down. Wondering if that blue stuff on the card slot, on the inside is bad? It is dry. Not sure if that's how it should be

    • @theknightwithin6187
      @theknightwithin6187 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Sounds like a clogged power supply issue, or it it's the thermal paste on the GPU chip, as shown in the video. Thermal paste for this particular console doesn't last very long (Maybe up to only 2 years depending on daily usage) due to how powerful it is, and the amount of heat it puts out. I would check the power supply first, since it can dust up since it's right next to the fan, and if that's not the issue, I would replace the Thermal paste on the chip.

    Starfield by Bethesda games brought me here. Thanks for the informative video. I wanted to make sure to destroy every last part of this console after wasting a day of my life playing Starfield. Now i have no more Microsoft products thanks to this video. No one will ever use a part or play my console again.
