      Even after "repairing from Microsoft"
      Does anyone have the same problem?
      Is this normal?
      Game discs, online games and normal movie blurays are silent.

    Cheers buddy, decent strip down. Just re-pasted my processor and this video worked a treat. My only gripe would be to mention that when splitting the heatsink from the PCB, be careful and use a plastic prying tool becauae mine was stuck. Microsoft's quality control on pasting the processor is awful.

    But when taking it apart I noticed the themal application was 1 rubbish and two hard as a brick .
    Followed your guide and replaced it with thermal grizzly Kryonaught and it's quite than day one of owning it .
    Alot easier than I expected to be fair .

    The removal of the classic x clamp makes me believe Xbox is getting more akin to the idea of people fixing and cleaning their own consoles. I have both this and PS5 and it takes me like 20 minutes to clean everything on the Xbox except the thermal paste, but that wouldn't have taken much longer. PS5 you basically have to disassemble the entire console to clean the heatsink. Being able to clean it from the same side as the fan/SSD wouldve really been special. Hopefully the Pro fixes it.

    I've killed two series X's, not having a clue how or why. Then I found your video. I've learned, living in a very dusty town and having dogs I needed to clean it once a month at the least. But what I discovered is, if you lay it on its side, like the old Xboxes, the dust and hair doesn't collect in the heat sync.
    I turned it over after my last cleaning, just to see if it made any difference. So after about 4 months I decided to open it up and check on it. It had dust everywhere but that's because of where I live. But the heat sync was completely clear of dirt and hair. So I highly recommend, any one who watches this or reads this to turn your series X on its side.

    Have you noticed, that technology and Microsoft, Sony themselves.... Have all said, though an unlucky few will have faulty consoles, most are robust, highly tested for a long period of time, used in high heat extreme conditions, and not sold till they are sure they are fit for long term use.
    I'm 43, i played on ZX Spectrum, Amiga 500, Mega Drives, NES, 3DO, Amiga32, Mega CD, PS1, PS2, PS3, PS4, Xbox, XB1, XB1X right up too now owning the Series X and S.
    Back then, as kids, we had the consoles on carpets, put it in our bags too go to our pals houses, dogs and cats near the console, eating drinking near the console...... Pausing games to go and play with pals outside, blowing in cartridges and consoles thinking you were clearing dust..... And NOT ONCE did i have to get someone to open up one of my old consoles for cleaning, and some still work too this day.
    Yet somehow, now.... We are supposed to think that these new consoles are so precious, so delicate, so fragile, that we have to possibly attempt to open up a £450 console, replacing and cleaning parts?
    I swear, i have heard more stories, of people trying too remove the fan and clean their new consoles and THEN actually breaking them.... When there was no need too at all.
    1. If you keep your area hoovered and dusted every day where you keep your consoles, the internal dust will be small.
    2. I got for £8, on Amazon, Series X Microfibre dust filters.... They stick perfectly on the top and all vents, allowing the console to breath fine, and stop all dust.
    3. If you have a dust buster, or small attachment for the hoover, simply press it against the rear vents, and turn on.... This was on the actual Microsoft site as the easiest way.
    IF you know exactly what you are doing, then yeah, go ahead and open the console up..... But unless you live in a dirt box and never dust, your console should be fine.

    The much easier way, is to get two cotton ear buds, cut one ends of both. Then tape them together strongly but thinly, then carefully poke through the holes with the long earbud at the rear bottom of the console, to clean out the dust from the heatsink. Little shake and then hoover does the trick! My Series X went from a loud hoover to a quite console again, without having to open it up or void a warranty.

    Do you have to replace the thermal paste or is this guy just doing it for his? Mine is not that dirty at all but when come time to clean it. All I wanna do is vacuum the fan out.

    • @howfixit

      You don't have to change the thermal paste if you only need to clean the dust. This video instruction shows the replacement process for information on how to do it, but it is not necessary.

    My middle screw on the fan was put on by zeuse. How did you get yours off so easily ?

  • @DarkTranqz
    @DarkTranqz 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    My fans middle T8 was like glued or thermal welded/expanded into it's socket. It stripped after trying to carefully apply enough pressure to break it free. This is the first time I've even taken it apart, it should not have been in there with that much force. Now I have a fan that I can't get out. Why use such a shitty small size of torx for these.

  • @JoeMcPlumber

    Damn i really don't want to go that deep into my console but your thermal paste looks pretty crunchy. And i bought mine not long after they came out. :/
    Thank you so much for the screw lengths though! That's one bit that worried me, is mixing them up.

    I had my Xbox for 6 months and it’s already overheating, do you think it’s the thermal paste.

    • @greggski3710
      @greggski3710 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can try and clean it first with compressed air.
      If it doesn't help, then yeah I think it's the termal paste. Microsoft is not using the highest quality paste, so it dries out quickly.

    Hi, I recently had my xbox serviced by microsoft because it would shut down during Gears 5 at random intervals of gameplay. Now that it has been returned the issue has been fixed but I can't insert a disc into the drive, there's no suction at all...I'd like to avoid sending it in again. Do you think a ribbon cable or something could be unplugged?
