the connection to Coco got me thinking, what if Joshua and Coco were partners in the Game, thus explaining where she found out what joshua was like beforehand. we know angels can at least change their appearance, so what if reapers can too. Kariya and Uzuki besides the outfit change look pretty much the same and we know Kariya has been there much longer than just 5 years from when Neo takes place. so maybe Coco decided to depict herself as really young as maybe that's when she died but never tried to mature until recently thus why she looks older in Neo

i will forever stand by the sentiment that joshua in twewy was just the Composer, and *not* an Angel; mr. H stated in his reports that Joshua couldn't pick up on any Angel-vibes but his, and Joshua himself is never explicitly referred to as an Angel by Mr. H in his reports, only ever "the Composer." i've always thought that this was a subtle nod to the fact that Joshua, in his constant Jesus-parallels, is the "Son of God," which is of course a title/existence distinct from Angels and Reapers alike, hence his unique ghostly true form. Joshua is God in the form of a man in the UG, but still was brought up as a man nonetheless, so he of course has his own problems and motivations that makes him relatable to the audience and to everyone else in the UG. so Composers are essentially "Angels-in-training," given a plane, a city, and some people to watch over, but they are not in league with the Angels as a whole, only guided by the Producer, hence Joshua's ability to cleanse/erase the city if he chooses to, he's not bound by any rules but his own. Joshua is the God the Son to Mr. H's God the Father.
in neo though, Joshua is explicitly referred to as an Angel, and i think that's because sometime during the post-twewy pre-neo era, he was promoted/ascended to the proper Angel status, but still retained his position as the Composer, hence the constant confusion. square could definitely clear this up, but then again, there's a lot of confusing aspects to joshua's character and twewy as a whole that could use an exposition that we'll never get. so Composers can be *just Composers* and not Angels, in which then a Producer is definitely necessary to guide their actions regarding their territory, and Composers can be Composers AND Angels, a scenario in which they've pretty much maxed out their exp bar in the UG but they can't just leave their position as Composer and ascend to the Higher Plane without first granting their position to someone else, hence Joshua being eager to give Neku that spot. but seeing as qualified candidates for the Composer position are seemingly quite difficult to come by, Joshua is gonna be waiting a long time for his potential heir..
i also think they gave Joshua that Angel rank to denote his character progression, see the instance of Joshua calling Haz a "mess-maker" and Haz replies that he was "following in [Joshua's] footsteps" to which Joshua replies that "he'll need to watch where he's walking." Joshua has learned from his mysterious ways (mistakes) in TWEWY and has instead opted for a more mature mindset, and even tells Haz that he "just can't help but hope they succeed." in neo he is an actual Angel with the good intentions and rules behind it (a huge contrast to himself in TWEWY), but he is still the Composer and loves a good Game in his work (hence his thing with Kubo and Rindo). and he won't stop being Shibuya's Composer until he can find his successor. but seeing as his Conductor(s) has/had their own goals/motives, and Minamimoto is still very much not Joshua's flavor, he's going to be waiting a while for someone he can trust to take over and do it right. maybe a potential setup for TWEWY3...?

I see joshua as a sort of reverse christ figure. not saying he is the anti-christ but rather a person who didn't see good in people. He became the composer due to this but now regrets it. He can't regain his old humanity but luckily his new one will set him on the right path.

As a person who simp for Joshua a lot (I mean, double that for 20 times more), his backstory was really interesting to me because I was also in his shoes for so long.
Instead of being able to see Underground like he did, I have many sixth senses which causes my emotions mixed up altogether. In other case, it means I absorb negativity compared to regular human beings, causing me to feel sickened and ill at the same time.
Just like him, I had a isolated life. But some dialogues with him and Neku, I believe Neku mentioned that Joshua look weak when they first met, implying that Joshua has an weak body. I don't know if I'm wrong, but after reading his information bio of himself, some parts of description says he have a poor health and his skin complexion says it all (Neku and Beat have healthy skin after all)
I either guess he's probably anemic since Joshua also stated that running wasn't his thing in the first place (I'm anemic too, it causes breathing problems if you run and ran out of energy too fast than your regular people)
And again, it's true what Joshua did is unforgivable, but I think his character was executed really well for those who are struggling with mental health and inferiority complex issues, he was the only character I feel completely related to without having to get called as edgy like Neku's character development

No hate on people who despises him tho, I mean the fandom around 2013-2016 used to ship him with Neku, causing controversial problems with their age range issues....
