Personally I don’t think the new English VA did a bad job and yes I like the original more and I think Funimation could’ve bring them back but the new VA sound cool I’m still having time adjusting to Joshua voice mainly because tone but his VA isn’t bad
Kariya is the only one they got back for some reason
I'm significantly less interested on the dub now that I know it doesn't have the original Minamimoto.
Honestly most of their voices seem fine, Neku's is a little too deep and Beat's is a little too low energy but I don't really have a problem with the rest

Even though all I've played was NEO (I do wanna play TWEWY Final Remix). I LOVE 0:14 in particular. I feel Neku's frustration. I wasn't even born yet when Twewy and this show was released. Now I wanna go and watch this show from start to end.

The World Ends With You is a better Anime then people give it credit for. It stayed true to the games. And gave a lot of context to the games. And was very similar in storyline. It's a pretty good Anime. Very true to the games as well. Plus some of the boss fights in the Anime is very epic. And very well done. And a funny Anime at that. It even has music similar to the games, that gives me a lot of nostalgia of playing TWEWY on the Nintendo DS.

I just finished the show, it was pretty good although the end left alot to be desired, it didn't hit nearly as hard as the game. VAs did a great job. Would've loved to see all off them hanging out after saving Shibuya
Neku's anime voice is always so jarring to me. He sounds like the main character in a generic Illumination Studios movie. Yknow the type, with the "little smart guy" main character and the "big dumb guy" sidekick, and unwarranted dance party at the end with outdated (probably fortnite) dances

No, only the anime's English dub actors are different. The other entries have consistent actors in English as far as I know.

What sucks about the TWEWY anime's English dub is that Joshua doesn't have a feminine voice for a guy, and Minamimoto doesn't have a raspy voice.
What sucks about TWEWY in general is it has close-minded fans who don’t expand their horizons and realize a performance is way more than how high the voice is. The main message of this entire franchise flew right over your head
@@michaelroch2704 I do think the dub cast here did a fantastic job, but the original VAs weren't even contacted about reprising their roles for the anime (as confirmed by Neku's original VA). They came back for NEO, but Funimation didn't even bother trying to grab them for this. Wanting the same actors to keep voicing their characters isn't missing the point of the franchise, it's just viewing the VAs as important aspects of the characters and series in general rather than non-factors you can just replace on a dime for little to no reason.
Japanese dub had the original VAs as well, so it's even more jarring that the English cast is completely different here, especially since this anime was supposed to help catch people up to speed/act as a refresher for NEO TWEWY. Now they'll jump into the new game and everybody bar Kariya will sound completely different. It's just jarring from a consistency point of view.
@@blankblanny It shows a complete lack of care for consistency and respect towards the voice acting professionals. And it's a recurring problem with English dubs. To mention another franchise, every media from Persona 4 has the same voice cast in Japan, and some of them are A-listers. Meanwhile in the west it's hard to find a character who didn't have the voice changed at least once, sometimes to an entirely different one, and some characters have had as many as 3 voices over the years. This is why I generally don't consume any foreign work English dubbed anymore. If the people in charge don't give a shit, why should I?
@@blankblanny The OP didn’t say they were bummed the original VAs didn’t come back. They said they were bummed because of how they sound. You were just projecting your own thoughts into what they said, which were completely different from what they said. So I still stand by my previous statement: a voice does not make a character. Joshua is more than his high-pitched voice. He’s manipulative and smug, which the animated version nails. And Minamimoto is eccentric as hell, which is also apparent in the anime. So griping about pitch when they’re giving great performances is just silly to me.
The idea that an animated character can NEVER be taken on by another actor is very close-minded and just unrealistic. You’re not expanding your world if you think that way. And if they didn’t reach out to the original voice actors, how do you explain Kariya’s VA?
I heard Neku’s English dub in NEO and cringed every time. Guy is out of practice and it shows. People shouldn’t be given roles if they don’t even bother to keep up their craft. Jesse fell off the scene. It happens. Characters get recast all the time for all kinds of reasons. It’s just part of the industry. And in any case, the performances of the Neku and Beat in the anime blow the ones in NEO away. I’d much rather see actors who are working their butts off to give awesome performances voice characters I love than hear stale deliveries from people who got them by default because they voiced the same character over 10 years ago. You say casting talented actors is them not caring? I disagree.

@@SuperMandibleclaw None of the voice actors sound anything remotely like their original VA's, and the dialogue is extremely poorly written compared to the game. It was a disaster trying to cram this game into 12 episodes (especially considering a world record speedrun of the game is longer than it takes to watch the anime) but the lore is just completely ignored, such as Neku just straight-up not using some of the beginner pins until several episodes later, being stuck with only pyrokinesis when he should have lightning, force rounds, slash, and telekinesis at his disposal as well which all just pop into his arsenal during fighters in the later episodes, ignoring the hundreds of other pins Neku unlocks are the game progresses. The entire anime is filled with inconsistencies, and disservices to the original and Hanekoma getting shafted with like 30 seconds of collective screentime and terrible dialogue is just absurd.
