I love how in the first game, Joshua's presence is so annoying that Neku is destabilized by it, but by this game, Joshua's presence is so comforting that Neku is helped by it.
Yet talking to Joshua literally makes him annoyed in a matter of seconds XD. And the 1st game explains that PROLONGED exposure to the Composer would destabilize Neku's mind and Soul. XD. So yeah it's more based on Neku's emotional attachment and bond that makes him feel comforted by Joshua

Since it was able to effect his ability to soul scan. actually the first game always made this sort of confusing for me. Because like that secret report kind of frames it like it's joshua's vibe that makes him so annoying to neku. but. like. Joshua is kind of also just annoying as a person XD Is he annoying behavior-wise Because he has a high vibe? Why did neku catch his rancid vibes before he hardly said anything then? And why doesn't he seem to immediately annoy anyone else? I feel like twewy treats the magical and emotional explainations of this like theyre the same thing for some reason.
Also hanekoma's vibe should be even HIGHER than joshua's and Neku had an immediately positive impression of him whats with THAT
@@zyzix1861 I think it’s a combination of Joshua being Neku’s partner, Neku using the player pin on him, and being in close contact for so long. Mr. H also had been “imprinting” on Neku for a long time through his graffiti, so he was more used to it. I think Mr. H might have a better control over his vibes than Joshua did, I don’t think Mr. H needed help when he went to pick up Joshua in Another Day, he was able to do so pretty freely.

random thought: perhaps the Shinjuku team rules are in place not only to erase vast quantities of players, but to promote feelings of family and connectedness among each team of players, since family is something the shinjuku reapers value quite heavily
since it seems the decision to even have a reaper's game seems to be up to the composer, I just like to imagine there are cities out there who have normal ass composers who just do paperwork all day or smth and aren't staking the fate of their cities on teenagers who need character development every other week, who occasionally just look over at Tokyo and are like "da fuck they doin over there"
When people ask why NEO: TWEWY sold so poorly, I'm gonna say you need a high imagination to understand it's greatness.

This was a good breakdown! Also I think by Josh having a hand in Shinjuku's inversion remember at the end of TWEWY josh and Hanekoma left saying "It's their problem now." meaning he tried but couldn't help.
You got one thing wrong about Minamimoto - he thought he could use the Soul Pulvis to *help* the Wicked Twisters and beat Kubo but it overpowered him. Him attacking them and the whole scene with Beat was him under the influence of the Soul Pulvis, after he didn't mean to attack them.
yeah, Sho just thought that they weren't strong enough to take Kubo on themselves
It is true he only attacked because he lost control of the power, but saying Sho wanted to help the wicked twisters seems like a big stretch when he has left them for dead multiple times before

Curious how the Shinjuku reapers' game is just, fucking bloodsport and an easy way for them to rack up points, fucking crazed bastards, at least I felt the Shibuya ones had a purpose for their game.
I thought TWEWY told us that Joshua was "basically an angel in all but name". Seeing as his "true" powers (in the game) looked angelic rather than reaper-ish.
Also, he was the only one powerful enough to restore a player/reaper to life.
Also, he was the only "reaper" to keep some of his powers in the RG.
Also, he was the only non-angel that could jump through planes.
Also, that he'd be ok if Neku lost the Shibuya game (while everyone else would be erased).

The original secret reports of twewy actually set Joshua quite apart from the angels! They did it at least twice iirc. One was when Mr. H explained that Angel Vibes were extremely high frequency, because he said that they were so high frequency that the Composer can only even pick up the Producer's vibes. In that sentence they were treating the Composer as a separate thing from angels. Another one actually addresses this:
"Also, he was the only non-angel that could jump through planes."
I'm assuming you mean parallel worlds because twewy uses the word "plane" to refer to the RG, UG, etc. In the first game's secret reports Hanekoma actually says that anyone who could raise their vibe high enough could jump to parallel worlds. Most people just can't do that though and so very few could make the trip. Then he worries that maybe Joshua is trapped in that parallel world because doing so could have lowered his base vibe. Then he says that unlike someone who could get trapped traveling to a parallel world (like maybe Joshua) Angels are made to do so. Which also really sets the Composer apart from angels.
Also, i don't think the composer is ever called a reaper in twewy? not even in quotations? It seems more like the Composer was originally just something else from Reapers and Angels. A distinct in-between maybe, since thats at least the literal position of the position. Nothing else of that really makes him out to be an angel either.
@@zyzix1861 We could also think about it like this, if the reaper's game was supposed to find those that could ascend to higher planes, maybe becoming and proving yourself as the composer would allow you to become an angel in this world (the reapers did confirm they were playing a game themselves too, as they had points related to some actions). Joshua may have proven that he had the capabilities to become an angel, and was ready to name another person to be the composer (Neku, due to the end of NEO)
@@dragobane4728 This is true, even if it's not really a theory I subscribe to. Josh Ascending to the status of an angel is a theory i've heard before (even before neo as an explanation for his KH3D wings, oddly enough) and it's fair idea for why the reports are different between games. One thing is for sure though- Joshua was not an angel in Twewy, and composers are not equivalent to angels.
Personally though I'm still in the camp that it doesn't really make sense for Joshua to be an angel now either. Mostly because 1) we never hear of any way for a Composer to earn points or prove themselves and 2) I don't think that Joshua would have proven himself by Neo because the Higher Plane opposes his decision on Shibuya. Idk if he did anything throughout the course of the story to change that either. Without a proper explanation it still reeks of retcon.

@@zyzix1861 You seem to be assuming that the higher planes obey some rule of meritocracy, as if by getting some merits you are given a superior power. But what if what happens instead is that they follow some rule of competence?
Minamimoto was two steps away from being the composer, maybe because he is strong, rather than having earned so many reaper points. On the other hand Coco was able to almost compose a copy of Shibuya.
I think what really happened was Joshua refined his imagination and vibe so much he is essentially an angel. Official status might need the recognition of others but the practical abilities come from being strong, so they could be made to be recogniced with force.
Joshua has wings because his vibe got higher. Didn't he already have wings in the extra after credits cutscene in the first game?
Um the Composer was always implied to be tied to Angels in TWEWY 1, NEO just CONFIRMED it. Joshua's Composer energy takes on the shape of Angels, Joshua's Angel feather used to recreate the bosses as a boss rush in Another Day. The Room of Reckoning having an Angel and the Grim Reaper carved into pillars. It's literally showing the Composer is an Angel of Death. If Composer is an Angel powering down to be in the UG to control the flow of life and death, then Angel Rank is them at full power presumably. And Joshua's Composer Form looks nearly identical to the energy Angels that form from his Composer energy beams, but more distorted looking.

Joshua’s ALWAYS been an angel, idk how they couldve interpreted as “not an angel but lower” when his subordinate, mr H, is an angel and josh literally has absolute, angelic powers, and his name is literally joshua which is the hebrew version of jesus’s name. they literally give him wings in kingdom hearts too, which is made by Nomura
It's understandable for there to be confusion about this. From the Secret Repots:
"Angel vibes are extremely high-frequency; not even the Composer can catch them all. In actuality, he can pick up only that of the Producer."
This draws a distinction between Angels and The Composer, noting that he is only able to detect The Producer's presence. While it is possible that this is simply because The Composer has tuned himself down to a lower plane, it is still an odd distinction to make.
"Diligent Reapers, too, may pass through the office of Composer to ascent to the plane of Angels."
The wording here implies that the plane of Angels exists beyond the rank of Composer - it is something that must be passed and ascended beyond - not a destination.
While some would argue that Joshua's difficulty hopping between Parallel Worlds is a sign that he is not an Angel, that could easily be explained by him having handicapped himself for his game with The Conductor, so I honestly don't count that either way.
Finally, in reference to the Room of Reckoning - yes, there is a depiction of both an Angel and a Reaper. While this could be seen as a sign that The Composer is both, it could also be interpreted as The Composer being a middle ground between the two ranks - He is above the Reapers, but not quite yet an Angel.
That all being said, it was never stated explicitly in the first game that Composers and Angels are separate. If this is a "retcon", then it's not really a harmful one. The wording was vague enough to wiggle this in and the mechanics discussed related to Angels and Composers was somewhat distorted already during that game due to Joshua's handicap.

Hey so uh. Josh definitely had a hand in the events that happened. Specifically Josh is the one to hand Rindo his pin. You can see his legs in the scene where Rindo gets his back from someone implying he had a hand in it. Funny thing is I knew it was Joshua when playing the demo cause with the scene is set up and how distinct his legs are I knew he was up to his old Tom fuckery. Also in the reports Hanekoma states that whoever gave Rindo the pin on purpose is either really brave or insolent. He indirectly insults Josh lol
6:35 it's not a mistranslation in that it definitely still says "shibuya's composer" in japanese.**[EDIT FOR WHAT THE ACTUAL MISTRANSLATION IS BELOW] The only logical way i've found people to interpret that line however doesn't necessarily mean Joshua was "involved in Shinjuku's Destruction" but that he was trying to PREVENT it. Think about it, Kubo and Joshua play a game. Kubo, enlisted by Haz. is already on the side of shinjuku's destruction which is What Happened. Kubo played a game with Joshua and got what he wanted. Joshua played a game with Kubo, and Lost.
**SO. As far as i can tell, what's wrong with the translation vs the original is that in japanese, it doesn't say that Kubo and Joshua's game was related to Shinjuku AT ALL. It says that Kubo secretly started a game with Joshua (as in the one we see and play now) AND that he (kubo) led Shinjuku to destruction. If my reading is correct then there Wasn't randomly another game 3 years ago that one of our previous main characters had a hand in after his arc in the first game! so. thats good! I'm not actually fluent in japanese though, so in case i'm wrong abt the translation, i'm leaving the above up.
It's still him betting on a City's survival again XD. Kubo's like "I'm gonna blow up Shinjuku"

Joshua is my personal guess if I'm being honest. But I've also seen some arguments made for Kubo and they do kinda hold water tbh. Regardless, it's never outright confirmed in-game.

In week 1 day 1 when fret throws the player pin to rindo and it drops on the ground, the person who picks it up is joshua, you only get to see the shoes and pants but its the exact same portrait.
I thought that it was explained clearly (even outside of the secret reports) that it was Kubo who gave Rindo the power to turn back time, for the express purpose of creating the dissonance that would then destroy Shibuya on the Final Day.

I really like the depth thrown into both breakdowns but man I am not lying, this is a whole lot to take in. I do probably need either a TLDR or an overall description of the timeline/systems (like how the rules worked in the games) and what events connect together just so I don't get a headache
Hello good sir I hope you remember me. I just finished neo twewy this morning and man I gotta say it’s an amazing sequel. I have a few problems with it but it’s definitely a 9/10. I feel very little bittersweet but feel so much happier that everyone got back to normal. Some things are really not explained and there’s a lot of questions left. Shibas and the final boss music just took the ost to another freaking level. I must say that it feels like the series has ended but we all know there’s so much this series can offer more. There’s a lot of things in the game that I kinda predicted would happen but the whole thing with Kubo was highly unexpected for me. Maybe another 2-3 year time skip or something. I have yet to watch this video but I just wanted you to know how my experience went. I’m so glad I finally completed both games and still have more lore to understand and unwrap. I know this video will surely help. 9/10 game and 10/10 review for sure.
I think they should go the same route this game went. Make a new main character and story and have the cast from this game only play a supporting role. This game works well because it’s its own story for the most part by making the first game’s cast play supporting roles while also adding good addendums to the first game’s message.
They probably will too because the first game doesn’t make much sequel hooks either until Final Remix’s A New Day was added.

Your videos are super well edited and I love your humour, it's right up my speed! anyways, you nailed the information in the video masterfully and I had to subscribe right away! I can't wait for more TWEWY content, I love this game series so much. Both TWEWY and NTWEWY are gems, I can only hope that the next KH game gets a story remotely as good as them or even the FF series since Unreality is based on Square hence "Quadratum." The Disney filler really ruins KH's pacing , it doesn't help the dialogue is so bland and childish with KH3 sticking out the most in particular. TWEWY/NTWEWY just does so much better and hell I'm saying this with a KH pfp (Riku's the only KH character that makes the series worth it since even Nomura admitted twice that Riku is FF-esque and is more of a classic Square protagonist.)

I really loved playing neo being a fan of the origina but alot of things didn't sit well with me by the end gameplay and story-wise, and this kinda recaps a ton of vague cracks and outright holes strewn throughout I had trouble summarizing by myself. Game reeks of being time and budget crunched tbh even if it or isn't true. But hey, tons of fan service
I know Neku is not the protag in this game. But they nerfed him hard this time around. He went toe to toe vs Hanekoma.
Hanekoma was _not_ using his full strength. He was only testing Neku. Angels are extremely powerful.
I thought replay was gifted by Kubo to make Rindo the catalyst of Shibuyas inversion.
It's a bit conflicting, because like you said Kubo makes sense as the culprit, as replay is pivotal to his plan. But the whole point of Rindo being a normal guy yet acting as the Composer's proxy was that he was given an OP latent ability to actually have a chance of competing against Shiba. I feel like there are a lot of parts in NEO that just don't add up, which gets aluded to a bunch in this video. It seems there was a slightly messy production, since I've heard a bunch of things like Tsugumi originally being planned as the main character, and other drastically different plot decisions. Which also makes sense of how many weird, only sorta-relevent characters there are, like Ayano's subplot feeling rushed, Kaie feeling like he had a lot of missing potential, Hishima being pretty important but not even mentioned until the third week, where he suddenly takes prominence, Coco refusing to explain anything and not being acknowledged by other reapers, and of course the boatloads of characters (re)introduced at the very end of Week 3, including Haz.
Okay, this is my theory
1. We know that Kubo is the one that makes the player pin for this reaper's game and he is also the one distributing them in the RG to drag people as new players.
2. Now I personally think that Joshua is the one giving Rindo his Replay ability. So how did Kubo factored in Rindo's ability to make it as a backup plan if Shiba fails?
3. I think that Kubo knows that whoever Joshua's proxy is Joshua would give him some overpowered ability. And thay super OP ability would cause some sort of dissonance.
4. This is where Kubo then tries to hijack the proxy's power, whatever it is, the pin he creates would absorb the dissonance created by the whatever over powered ability Joshua gives to his proxy and turned it into a noise. Which we know from the secret report thay creating noise or an equivalent to that is Kubo's latent ability.
5. So that's my theory, Joshua is the one giving Rindo his Replay ability, but Kubo hijacked it by knowing any ability that Joshua gives would create dissonance, that's why the soul pulvis bursting out and inverting Shibuya is his plan B, and not his plan A.

Well people change their minds. So it's not that big of a stretch for there to be some Angels who thought that maybe Shibuya should've been destroyed after all. Plus the Secret Reports also mention that some still think Shibuya now is better and don't want it destroyed
And Haz and the other Angels agreed for Shinjuku to be destroyed. That's why it was okay for him to do that vs Joshua just wanting to blow up Shibuya

I am A New Comer to this Game Series in General Cause I Haven't Played the First Game I Am Almost Done with Neo, Currently I am on Day five without any Prier knowledge of the First Game or any video knowledge either cause I didn't know this game came out in 2021. I got this game last year, and I love it. (I Am Playing it blind BTW On NORMAL)

The person who gave the pin back was Joshua. You can tell because it's his sprite but they cut off the top half, and because Rindo is his proxy and he needed a way to the UG
