Tien beach is my favourite Thai beach, it's stunning.
That’s what I’ve been hearing. My friend prefers Monkey Beach because it’s less crowded he says.

I managed 2 day trips to Ko Larn when I was in town a couple weeks ago. Loved that 30baht ferry, and the island is a perfect break from the city. Your villa was cool! I'd definitely consider doing a night or two there next time, found it very relaxing. Tien beach was my pick, very nice :)
I’m hearing Tien Beach is probably the nicest beach on the island. I’ll have to ask my friend about the snorkeling and I would like to check it out on our next trip.

I have not yet done the day trip over to Koh Larn. I had every opportunity to go over there on my recent trip to Patts but just never got around to it. The water looks really nice over there. It looks like it may be a great place to rent a Motorbike as well. Like you, im hesitant to ride in Thailand but Koh Larn probably doesnt have much traffic so id make an exception over there when i go. Have fun Pete and glad to hear you got yourself a nice Lady !
I’ve turned down a few invites to the island, glad I finally got to go. The water is nice… perfect temperature, clear and clean. And yeah, it’s a great island for riding around, especially early in the morning.

A tour guide who likes me here has invited me to Koh Larn twice. She doesn't know the reason I turned her down is I don't want to ride on the back of a rented bike
I avoid them like the plague over here but the roads on KL were all very chill. If I can do it, you can do it. 😊
It's not about wanting to do it or not, it's about knowing what can happen, and being risk adverse.

Pete - regarding the motorbike fear - I am going to Koh Samed next week and it is similar to Koh Larn - in that NO cars are allowed on the island. So, I told my 4 Thai friends that are coming that they must FORCE me to finally rent a motorbike and ride like them. I truly believe that between Koh Larn and Koh Samed (2 non car islands) these are the right places for us to get over our driving a motorbike fears.

I agree, learning during the early mornings on these islands sounds ideal. I was going to take lessons but I don’t think it’s really necessary. Can’t wait to hear how it goes my friend.

wow Pete - congratulations on finally getting over to beautiful Koh Larn - especially when it was calling you every night during those magnificent sunsets from you balcony.
I try to go every week - I take the speed boat for 150 baht each way from the Bali Hai pier. I intentionally take the speed boat that goes to Tawaen beach (which I cannot stand - as it is always over crowded and so noisy) and then I take a motorbike taxi over the hill to my MOST favorite beach = Tien Beach - where there are not the big crowds and the transparent turquoise clean water is so amazing. I stay at the far end where you cannot walk anymore - near the 2 pirate ships that are up on the shore that they rent out as bungalows (they even have air conditioning) --> I want to convince some friends for us to rent the 2 pirate ships and stay overnight and to enjoy the amazing sunsets after all of the day-trippers need to rush back for the last boats back to Pattaya. This is the BEST time on Koh Larn - in the morning before the first tourist boats arrive and in the evening after all of the tourists have been brought back to Pattaya. At Tien Beach - they let the cackling geese out to roam the beach just before the sunset - it is such a wonderful sight to see - as all of the tourists are already gone and it is just you and the geese.
Wow, you go almost weekly? That sounds wonderful! I love the idea of staying in one of the pirate ships. Maybe that’s what we’ll do we when go next time.

Thank you so much. Yeah, she definitely cares and worries about me. Yesterday we started training for a trip later this month that sounds like will require a 2 or 3 hour hike up a mountain. She is well aware now that I’m far ahead in being prepared for this endeavor but she thinks she’ll be ready. I know she can do it.
So this is the 2nd island you have done a video on. I think the first one was Koh Chang. Which island do you like more?
No comparison, Koh Chang wins. It’s not really fair though because I only saw a small sampling of Koh Larn but from what I’ve experienced… KC is quieter, has prettier beaches (I hear the beaches on the far side of KL are more beautiful) and I think KC has a bit more nightlife.
