I want to add one point many video watchers may not know. Because Laos was heavily bombed and mined during the Veitnam War -n becoming the most intensively bombed territory in history - it has struggled with the consequences for decades with many Laotians killed or maimed bu undiscovered mines. This has made travel and economic development difficult. When building this train, the entire path had to be surveyed for bombs and mines, and thousands were cleared. So this train not only provides a developing country modern transit they lacked, but also a safe means to travel without fear of injury. I hope viewers can read my comment and understand what this train means to Laotian people - safety & progress they long deserved. Thank you for reading.
Thanks for sharing ☺️
well said UN.
and the biggest criminal in the world washed its hands and got away scot-free.
Thank you for sharing
Who put the bombs and mines there? did they apologize? did they help to clear them?
Among the ASEAN countries, Laos is the least developed with a landlocked mountainous landscape, especially in the northern part. But now it is connected by HSR to the south of China and eventually, Ventien can be the HSR hub for the other ASEAN neighboring countries with a bright future
That's the dream! 😊
It's not HSR.
Just conventional railway
@@Edward4Plantagenet You are correct, the operating speed is only 160Km per hour as the track is also for goods trains
@@yu-jd5jg yeah like our train 18
Early version like this train 160 kmph ! We say it semi HSR !version 2 series which now in use is 180 kmph currently!
Version 3 of our TRAIN 18 will come in 2024 which gonna be 220 kmph ! Which is in prototype phase ! I guess soon our train 18 will get HSR title after hitting 250 kmph speed ! I like this trains outside design but inside not much ! Our train 18 i don't like it looks ugly from outside! But have lots of features inside! Good space !
Overall both seems good in different ways !
I love train's !
Japan so slow still not tell us about anything about our Shinkansen E5 bullet train anything ! They have deadline before 2024 they will have to deliver us that train's! 500+ km track route for 10 BILION budget which gonna now go over 13 bilion soon ! Bcz id this shitty reccesion i think!

For all practical purposes, this is the first railway services in Laos. Considered from this point of view, it is very, very impressive. Better than ANYTHING we have in the USA. That is quite an achievement.

Sadly, the railroad system in the USA is very outdated :(

A bit weird seeing laos with a better railway system than usa considering how usa obliterated laos not so long ago
@@pquach00 spoken like a true American. Always coming up with excuses and negative reasons to not do. During WW2 bombing runs have destroyed entire railway systems including Japan. Their systems had to be completely reorganize and rebuild. What you see today are far more advanced railway systems. The United States can tare down, knock down or destroy anything else, what makes you think tareing up old tracks would be impossible? If the United States 🇺🇸 can put a man on the moon at the cost of billions, they definitely can build high-speed rail, new tracks and all. High-speed bullet trains and maglv super train technology, the new American dream....

Eh no, China is doing economic colonialism. Which is bad for the earth, how the US ''bringing democracy'' didn't work and is bad for the earth. It's all the same. The US sucks when they invade another country (again), Russia sucks if they do that, and China sucks for economic opression. These are the facts. Great video as always, mate and it’s really amazing to see new train-set and infrastructure in another beautiful Southeast Asia country and quite disappointing to see some restrictions you encounter while travelling on the train and challenges you faced while booking the tickets but anyway enjoyed watching it and loved it.

The biggest issues with China sponsored tech infrastructure is that they often do all the work themselves, leaving out potential jobs for locals. They quite also often leave the countries with big loans that they might struggle to repay. This is especially a problem in Africa.

I have taken the train from Bangkok to Vientiane - as you say, the last bit was all a bit silly but the linking with the new train will no doubt explain the rather unfinished arrangements which I experienced - about 5 years ago. When I found that the transfer from Vientiane to Luang Prabang would be 10+ hours on a bus, I flew.
I also took a train from Bangkok towards Cambodia - to the border which is (or was?) a walking border. Walking with suitcases, plus handcarts etc. Amazing amounts of fresh produce going from Cambodia to Thailand.
At another time I took the "International Express" from Bangkok to Butterworth. Dont confuse with the Oriental Express which is very deluxe and very expensive. My train was international, but it was a stretch to call it "express".I suspect the amazing set of characters doing this journey was more interesting than the blue rinses on the Oriental Express.
Sounds like a big adventure 😂
A Bangkok to PP cross border service was due to start in 2019. The 6km of old track from Aranyaprathet to the border was relaid & a new station built at the border. However, the 2019 commencement was delayed into 2020 & then Covid hit. 6 months ago SRT announced should start a cross border service in 2024, currently waiting for the Cambodians to finalise some arrangements.
Great video looks like a fabulous trip 😀

@@inkbold8511 Looks like you're off topic?! I congratulate my Laotian brothers only, the product from whom does not care, it is the choice of Laos, right? "You can thank the Chinese"- Why? Thank China for bringing "public debt" to the Lao people? Why did Vietnam choose Japan and Germany for the North-South railline? Look at Thai Nguyen Iron and Steel Factory, cement factories, Cat Linh-Ha Dong light rail, Da Nang-Quang Ngai hightway, motorbikes, cars and many other products from China. Double money, only 1/2 technology, capital and slow progress, unprofessional contractors, poor quality, quickly degraded. Beautiful train and breathtaking view. I am glad that Laos have got this new great train system, that will only be good to their economy and development. So, happy for them. Thanks for this. I've just subbed. Really impressive feat of engineering given the geographic challenges.
I think some of the overly officious rules are due to the fact that they've never had this level of infrastructure before and are coming to terms with how to manage it. It's like driving a brand new car and being very cautious and not having people eat inside 😄
Hopefully the inefficiences are ironed out over time, and prices made more reasonable for the average person. Hopefully the greater trade also strengthens the economy and increases the value of their currency as well.

It really is!
Really impressive!
Glad you enjoyed it 😌
The toilets on the classic streamlined cars Amtrak inherited from the privately operated railroads dumped on the tracks. Disregarding rules imposed by the pre-Amtrak railroads restrooms toilets were not locked while trains were standing in the station so waste was dumped on station tracks while passengers boarded and detrained...until the 80's when a train crossing a bridge in Florida dumped on fishermen in a boat below. The state of Florida gave Amtrak a deadline to install retention toilets or stop operating the highly popular Florida runs.
Ewwww 🤢🤢🤢
BTW, the ceiling design of Viet Tian station was meant to symbolize the hands of Buddha praying.
Thanks for the information ℹ️
we are waiting for next video like this

Thank you very much for such lovely journey. This wanna be amazing trip. Laos is one of the poorest countries in Asia. Now I'm gratefully appreciated to connect South China with the rest of Asian countries. This is a project of international intermodal transport cooperation system. I suppose China wants Laos to be involved in World Trade and this unique Laotian transportation route is worth watching. Laos is "Terra incognita" for tourists especially from Europian countries. It would be possible to provide investment to increase the annual income for such countries in this part of the world. So, finally my personal congratulations to your Channel. You may change the title "Nonstop Asian trip". 😁
Nonstop Worldtrip 😂💪🏻 Glad you enjoyed the video 📷
Congrats to the Laotian people for their modern railway transports. Other Southeast Asia countries can only envy what they have. It is a big boost to the development of their economy,
I hope so 😀
