Hmmn, I am curious, when you say that Laos is in 'debt trap' to China, are you saying that your country or other Western countries or any global institutions like IMF and the World Bank will give interest-free / super low interest loans to poor countries like Laos with zero strings attached?
Many other renowned economists have taken pains to point out the lies that western countries have smeared Chinese loans. I would suggest that perhaps you get some education and read more widely before throwing in misleading phrases like 'debt trap' to your vlogs. Be safe.
He just like a parrot that repeat only other's words.
You said it all perfectly !
对于这种误导性的视频,应该给它倒赞。
That is insane! When i went to Luang Prabang over 10 years ago you had to go by bus down the windiest sketchiest roads to get there. 2 hours? I remember it being over 7! Crazy how much has changed in a short time.
因为老挝完全信任中国,所以铁路修建得非常快。
I was in Luang Prabang last October. It very quickly became one of my favourite places in the world.
What was so good about it? I ask as a potential visitor.
@@krnpowr It's a beautiful, relaxed town in a stunning location. Incredible temples, good food, great restaurants, lovely people, plenty to see and do in the area. Extremely cheap. I'm sure Zane will show at least some of that in his upcoming videos.
@@andybaker2456 I'm in Indonesia now
A bit of economics about this railroad which is owned and operated by the Laos-China Railway company or LCR. Laos and China have 30% and 70% equity respectively in LCR but only put in 40% of the $6B as startup funding into the company. The rest of 60% is borrowed money. So, Laos paid $0.72B, China paid $1.68B, banks lent $3.6B. The project needs to service this $3.6B debt through passenger ticket price and freight fees, plus food sales and concessions. Because it's a BOT project, LCR operates it for 50 years and then transfer it to the Laos government free of charge.
Good for everyone. Creates jobs for Lao people, transport goods to China, tourist increase because of ease of travel. Win win for everyone.
BUT 🇺🇸Uncle🇺🇸Sam🇺🇸 is VERY, VERY NOT HAPPY with this railway because it brought Laos Closer to China.
😊
@@joyceching6487 who cares what America thinks. This is between Laos and China.
@@charlesmcdonald8654 I HAVE SEEN AT LEAST 2 TH-cam VIDEOS...
One, The TH-camr DELIBERATELY LIED About the 🇱🇦🇨🇳 Railway. When I wrote to correct him, he Immediately Deleted my comment.
Another, The TH-camr cursed Laos, calling it "China's Lap Dog"
😊
@@joyceching6487 Laos and China have a partnership. If people dig deep and educate themselves about that relationship, they would know , and not be so critical.
actaully, no need to apply booked QR from online booking to ticket, you can have Train officer checked that QR on your mobile for entering into station and train.
Policeman not allowing to stay close to train coz of their safety standard to passenger keep away from electric wire above train.
Have fun
Your video convinced me to take the train if I'm in Laos, thanks Zane❤
Zane, thank you for helping me to see the world through your videos! Please keep posting. As long as I got time, I always watching your videos, that also help me to practice my listening and speaking a lot. I introduce your channel to my classmates as well, we all love watching your videos ❤
Thank you so much! I’m really glad to hear they help.
@@zanetravel please travel to china man , it would be so great.
Great video, couldn't expect less from you! 😊
Wow Laos is amazing …. I should plan a visit
Thanks for the lovely video👍hope you will come to China
Awesome video 😊😊
In the future China High speed train will be in Thailand also.
@@SKYBaal-ms6xw Vietnam from China high speed train also in the future.
I’m so starved for good content that even a 25 minute video is not long enough for me. So guess you gotta make longer videos!! lol only kidding, I appreciate your vlogs, Zane
Great réactions 😉
I'm hoping to go through all if not most of Southeast Asia. Your video is giving me some ideas.
Very beautiful station
update from Thailand railway to link laos. there are two paraelled projects ongoing. existing metre gauge rail and high speed railway. For high speed railway. the 1st and 2nd maybe finished around 2030-2032 and metre gauge is expanding the capacity to transport more passenger and cargos
Driving from Vientiane to Luang Prabang take more times, but the road pass through beautiful mountains and valleys too and you can stop along the way to see the countryside.
Awesome 👍👍👍👍
Very very good train
What a beautiful view for beer:30
i love your videos
China transformed Laos from a landlocked country to become a landlinked country.
Hope u can come to Shanghai take some vlog~❤
I’m going to Vientiane and most likely will take the train to Vang Vieng too.
Debt trap?you don’t use mortgage to buy cars or houses?
if you got the money then NOT.. you dont need a mortgage or car loan simple.. I paid cash for my car so no debt...
WELCOME. TO..LAOS
Hi Zane ❤
Peace❤
ສະບາຍດີຈ້າ Welcome to Laos
Any chance of seeing you taking the train into China ? China's an amazing country to visit.
$6 billion project and China paid for 70%… There is your answer to why there are so many banks in Vientiane. Foreign countries fighting over the future of Laos.
And 30% of the share is also China money that Laos borrow from China
California spent 11 billion for a useless railway bridge. Laos is getting a good deal I'd say.
Laos is gradually being ruled by China via hugh debt to china. Laos people do not know about this, so sad.
@@chairavee2763 No, Laotian government is not stupid. The Lao President went to school in China when he was young. China and Lao have a good relationship. China is investing in a partner for the future. Lao people will benefit and China will continue to be the big brother in the relationship.
We took a flight was really easy peasy than hassle with train we never bothered with train 45 minutes on the plane 👍👍x
Mantap sekali
Very interesting information on this Laos China Train. Is first class different from business class? Safe travels!
biz class seat has vip room access and priority boarding
super CHINA
where did you buy the ticket, any links??
thanks
Oh yeah, weird thing about some trains operating in Asia: Business class > First class > Second class
First class looks like business class to me so many seats unlike Indonesia Whoosh seat style
ສະບາຍດີ 🖐️🖐️
Interesting, the ticket shows ICBC bank, possibly thats the 70% capital comes from.
Did it stop anywhere in between?
I would hope that because old LP is a UNESCO site that it won't be destroyed by overdevelopement like Vang Vieng was. Although Laos used to be slow travel, I feel it once had a rural charm that no longer exists. The other issue is Chinese dams controling water flow into Laos and Cambodia. I can't see how they will maintain their sovereignty given such hurdles.
Train prices and service standards in China: Business Class > First Class > Second Class
First class is just a bit more comfortable seats and space.
Business class has a separate passenger lounge, which may have smarter seats or semi-reclining seats depending on the model, free meals free water and snacks, and separate passenger lanes.
Was wondering if you could put the link you used for your train ticket please 🙏 and I was also wondering how long prior to your trip you booked it. Saw a few things saying u can only do it a few days prior ?
LCR ticket app
Debt trap for future return....not debt trap for destruction like Ukraine.
❤❤❤❤
Laos and China's leaders agree to construct high speed rail. Laos is a not a rich country and could not have this type of rail without a loan. Everyone needs a loan when they do not have enough money to construct such a project for the benefit of the people. You rode on this train and seemingly ungrateful and unthankful for the experience you gain. Have you ever taken out a loan for a car, house or tuition? And you call it a debt trap?
Laos pay 30% and 70% (this is Laos taking a low interest loan from China)
Laos don't have any speed train. Speed train required minimum 250 Km/hr, while Laos train can't even reach 200 Km/hr.
Hope the voice this video sound better.,Thanks,
This high speed train is not a big deal, you should've checked out those trains in China if you ever have the chance.
Sorry to break this to you, the first class tickets are usd24 each if you book thru their app 😢
Hilarious that you automatically equal debt to "trap".
Come on dude !! Be a bit braver !!! :) Get the second class !! Go for an adventure !! ah ahah a
Borrowing fund and being a debt trap are two different concepts.
What's up Zane
But why would a ‘business class’ passengers were seemingly allowed to board the train almost exclusively, over first class, according to your video?
lao is so quiet
座席が進行方向を向いてない高速鉄道もあるんだね
座椅可以360°旋转,😂老挝的乘务员可能没有去操作。
Train station quite empty. Look like an airport
Were people smoking on the train?
smoking is not allowed at LCR
@@mabo9636 Chinese smoke anyway. I want to get 1st hand info from someone who was on the train.
@@markbigelow2608there is police officer on board and smoke censor
The train is a Chinese CR200 model, which is very old and not fast, but there is definitely no smoking on the train. The train is electrically powered and a fire would be catastrophic. So you'll see a lot of smokers on the train platforms or in the smoking rooms before the train starts.
All bullet trains in China are non-smoking, only fuel trains you can smoke in the carriages. They are called green trains in China.
I haven't seen those very outdated trains for over a decade, even the countryside has been replaced with old cr200 models.
Loas beautiful. But they need clean the street up. Sadly trash everywhere on street. 😮😢🎉
I am very sad that their economy depends on that country, which is very dangerous!
They are afraid of the truth I write, so they keep deleting my comments, which is a pity!
If you wants to know more, you can tell me anyway!
You did a really great job again, thanks a lot for sharing! 👍😄👏
If you have watched the real video, you should know that train is in 70% dangerous!
@@ThomasHuang-ed2xb Yes, it is.
Laos, Thailand, Myanmar, Malaysia, and Singapore will soon become part of China for sure!
Laos, Thailand, Myanmar, Malaysia, and Singapore will soon become part of that big country for sure!
Anyways at present times Laos is definitely better than it was in the war times that caused by French, thai and American invaders
Don't go to China, it's 51 day in China, so so so huge crowd!
劳动节就Labour Day Holidays, 你来个51day老外看不懂。China is not the only one in Asia that celebrates Labour Day.It's normal for holidays to be crowded, except that China's population base is too large.
I was in the Philippines several years back and I was also prevented from taking photos of a transit train on a train station. And I thought, this country has a lot of problems and this is what they're fixating on? I hope that rule has changed because it's so stupid. So he allowed you to film but not take photos?
你不愚蠢哦
你的国家真好?
是美国殖民地还是半殖民地
I'm surprised that Laos hasn't become a province of China.
Taking picture wasn't allowed? That's soooo weird dude wtf
There is slavery and human trafficking in Laos.
纳粹美国🇺🇸 日本🇯🇵 以色列🇮🇱 欧洲 英国🇬🇧等存在奴隶贸易
Stupid remarks. Building infrastructure is necessary.
Im what you call Laotian diaspora living here in the U.S. According to google there's about 254,000 of us living here after the country fell to communism in the 70s. And i've watched two of your videos in Laos, all i hear in the back ground are Chinese people. 😂 You can tell who they are by how loud they talk and they cut in lines, because they have no sense of queuing up. I feel that country is lost to commie Vietcongs and commie Chinese. Real Laotians is scattered and disperse all over U.S, Canada, France, Thailand and Australia...
Sad, i long for my country every day.
Stop seeing things with your western sunglasses on then you will understand the world better
Boring................................
Lol 🤣 It's not a high speed train, only 160 kmh
by ASEAN context, 160kph is already an achievement. for example in Thailand average rail speed is just half of Laos Railway.
@@mabo9636 Indonesia 350km/h Fastest in ASEAN
@@dedeyusuf223by definition. 350kph is true high speed
USA is a high speed train, only 90mph or 144.84 kmh.
@@mabo9636 That's right, only Indonesia has high speed trains
I accidentally bumped into your channel today and have subscribed you, but as soon as I heard you said 'debt trap', I have immediately unsubscribed. So despite the comfortable journey you have enjoyed, China should do this HSR for free for Laos? What kind of Anglo Saxon mentality is this? Don't think you are worth my time listening to your biased political analysis.
it's not really a high speed train, it's just fast to laos, at the same speed as highway vehicles.
Thailand is lack behind Laos. What's a pity?
