This reminds me of the episode of SpongeBob where this guy took over the krusty krab and started serving sludge out of machines that looked like the krabby patty on the outside but once you took a bite it was all grey. But no one noticed and thought they were eating regular krabby patty’s until someone pointed it out.

And he flat out told us if it weren't for the city we lived in being so old school (I grew up in the south so i don't think I really need to explain) that he'd have just hired his brother to work the place 16 hours a day. But my boss love making stuffy white people happy so he hired me and a buddy of mine because we quote "look like someone the local people can trust". @@andrewg254 I am a baker with over 20 experience in the trade, the floors should be swept constantly, mopped twice a day if busy, everything that can be moved should be moved and cleaned under. All handles should and frequently touched surfaces wiped down as often as possible. All open food in fridges or in containers should be dated, all stock should be constantly rotated (removed from the fridge and the new stuff put behind the old), if you can't keep these standards then you should not be open end of story.
I have told business owners to their faces that they have no right to be operating a food establishment because their standards are too low, just because you can cook at home does not mean you know what it takes to serve food to the public. He desperately wants to be in a position of power and have the clout that comes with it, but expects to be able to swindle his way to the top.

    IS PURNIMA STILL OPEN?
Purnima closed in 2009, two years after the Purnima Kitchen Nightmares episode aired.
The Yelp reviews were mixed after the makeover and there were complainants about overpriced food and a noisy environment.
The old Purnima New York City location is now occupied by a place called Dillon’s Comedy Club. So it appears that the Dillons name will live on, even though the restaurant is gone.
I’m not sure why Purnima closed.
Mohammad was having issues with a neighboring tenant allegedly causing damage to the Purnima property, but I’m not sure whether or not that played any role in the closure.
It could’ve been just do to business/money.
After Gordon’s help and the rebranding from Dillons to Purnima, the restaurant seemed to be doing well. Gordon visited the restaurant one year later, and everything was running smoothly. Vikas is still there, and customers are even invited back into the kitchen to see how clean it is. The Purnima Gordon Ramsay revisit happened in Season 2 Episode 1.

Imagine needing help cleaning up, having to find a translator to ask for help, and then going out and finding your manager getting sleazy with waitresses and then trying to ask him for help pot washing, only to have him tell you he's too good for it. Already three steps only to get the brush off. Over and over and over and over
How many times could you do that before you just throw in the towel.
I've had a few jobs like that where no one listened and after a while it gets to be like... Just showing up is the hardest part. Anything you can't control you just wall off and pretend it's not happening. Because you literally have no voice

To the commenters scared about eating out due to shows like this, just look at your food before you eat it. Gordon does a great job of pointing out what looks terrible, and he does it in his cooking shows too like Hell's Kitchen. Just watch what he says about how food should look. You don't need to put it in your mouth if the tomato is grey and covered in flies, but that is a really obvious one. Raw meat is a pretty common one he points out too, so you can pick that up from his shows. Just saying, information is the best weapon.

@@milkyshakes While this is true, the same can happen from cooking at home. Also in most cases, these 3 things will not kill you. The most deadly is bacteria, but if it has been cooked, the worst of it has been killed. If it hasn't been cooked, well back to my original comment.
Will you still get food poisoning every now and then? Sure. People are dirty. But this happens at home too, unless you obsessively clean. I don't think fear of a slight stomach ache and an hour on the toilet should turn you into a hermit that never leaves their home. There are far more dangerous things in the world, and we risk them every day.

This is definitely a contender for saddest excuse for a restaurant Gordon has ever visited. There were so many shocking things that stuff which would get focused on for several minutes in other episodes only got a few seconds here. The confused menu, the funeral home decor, the complete lack of customers, the meat in a vegetarian dish, the wrong meat in the meat dish, the week-old potatoes, the guy who cooked the salmon saying "not with pleasure" in front of Gordon when told to eat it, the old lamb mistake, the cooking on the floor, the food coming back during dinner service, the mystery sauce which the chef couldnt identify, the bucket of moldy chicken, the shitton of rat droppings, AND THE WORST FUCKING COCKROACH INFESTATION EVER!!
