I'm a registered nurse at a nursing home and this is one of my patient's favorite songs. I always play music for my patients during medication pass. This patient does not speak much so when he asked me if I could play this song for him, I was a bit surprised. When this song is playing, this guy who doesn't talk much, will belt it at the top of his lungs and just smile, and it always brings tears to my eyes. You can tell that he's just remembering back when he was younger. We've made it our daily routine now. I love every aspect of my job, but getting to see my patients happy and smiling is the best reward ever!

No wild band, no half naked woman, no blinding lights. A guitar and two very talented artists Simon and Paul made the world a bit better to live in. Thanks God for giving talents to them.
Honestly, I think that smile was when Simon changed chords/positions on the fretboard of the guitar, and was clearly out of tune. But they go for it. What can you do? Lol.
Listened to this creative, beautiful master piece and emotional song years 40yrs ago while growing up. This generation should embrace and learn more from beautiful poetic music
Absolute goosebumps. Their voices fill every nook and crevice of that space. Their smiles before they start to sing……they know how incredible they still sound.
Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel should be deemed a National Treasure. True artists and talent. I thank them for getting me through a difficult time in my life when silence was a blessing. Thank you gentlemen, you made a difference in one person's life with your positive influence. God Bless you both.
@ Crying Clown The fact that I am reading your comment randomly 4 days later is amazing ! Yes, I too am frozen in time as a wee infant 1964 / 1965 era. Sounds of joy....over the AM radio during those days !!
My dad introduced me S&G at my age of 7. Oh Lord, time passed 42 years now. Thankfully, listening this precious sound with my gorgeous three daughters now.
Thank God for music. It’s power is so underestimated. I gotta have some everyday. Ppl ask who is still listening to older music on here. Stop it. Forget the dates, just let the music live!!!!
This song is a double gut punch for me. My dad and I use to sing this together; he passed away in 2006. It's already a depressingly hopeful song, but it brings back memories.
+Talia Carney About 1000 years ago an illiterate Chinese general said something that has stuck with me. "You are never truly dead as long as the living remember you." Think about that whenever you think of your dad.
I'm 62 and my dad told me these guys were great. After he passed away I understand. Thanks dad for making me understand how important they are. Just beautiful! !!
saw them back in the mid 70's. Still have and listen to 2 of their 8 track tapes! I think your dad may have listened to the words more than most people do....it so makes sense in todays times!
I am a baby boomer and remember how awesome music was made and growing up with it. Are generation made the best music. Many have tried to copy it but never got to the emotional depth and heart felt peace. It goes right to your soul and moves you always in great mood.
+IceAssassin10 same here. Born September 2002 And I grew up listening to pop, but then my dad showed me his music, rock n roll, and I loved it so much. To this day, I love rock n roll and I hate pop.
+Nick Dearman Well, I respect your opinion, but you shouldn't hate ALL pop. I mean, there are still good pop songs out there, it's just hard to find :/
The first line of this song grabs my spine with icy fingers of recognition. People can see with their eyes, but their minds are blind. To wish to speak but be rendered silent. To go forever mute among the hearing. This I recognize.
fairly positive garfunkels voice is being tampered with in this performance if i remember rightly his voice had declined by this point could be wrong though
1975 in the Philippines was a hot night I could never forget. I was 6 years old, and the whole town was in silence watching these two legends perform on TV.
I so remember when Ms. Heinrich played this song in English class when I was in 8th grade, then she gave all of us the printed lyrics and our class was to openly dissect the meaning of the song. Wow what a discussion! We then asked her to play the song again before leaving to our next class. Gave me a new outlook to the meaning of words in a song!!! I will never forget the education!!
Man.... I remember watching this on BluRay and was like IF ONLY I COULD HAVE BEEN THERE!! Tom Hanks Directed this, and what a masterpiece of a show this was!!!

fuck me its obvious theres some kind of pitch correction going on here. I love Simon and Garfunkel as much as the next person, but its evident this isnt 100% natural voices.
I’m almost 54. I used to harmonize with my brother when we were kids as he plays the guitar with your songs. That giant stairs we used to sit and jam is no longer there, but the memories will always be there just like the poetic musicality you left in our hearts and forever painted in our souls . God Bless you Paul & Art.
they're not humans they're angels Edit:thanks for the likes!and also I used angels as a metaphor you don't have to comment telling me they're not angels or fight in the comments about religion...I felt like writing "angels" because in my first language(which is not english obviously)we often use this word when someone sings beautifully and with soul such as these two great musicians!
Oh, please. They are musicians. They sing well, they magnify jejune emotions; but they are all feeling and sloganizing, with paucity of understanding. They sang to an 18-year-old, and their warbling is still sweet; but after fifty years, they have not learned Churchill's lesson about maturing and putting aside utopian enthusiasms. Garfunkel was early on a Randian, but he was soon schooled out of that way of thinking. Rather like Bill Gates when he gained acceptance among the masters of the universe. We all bow to the regime, but once we do, continuing to pretend to be a rebel is a hypocrisy that offends the Holy Spirit.
That smile they share at 1:08 is priceless. They may not get on so well nowadays but there is a deep musical connection and respect for each other's talents which they will never lose.
Paul resents Art for throwing his weight around and taking him for granted, but also respects him and looks up to him greatly. I have seen Paul on talk shows by himself and he's serious and sullen. I've also seen him on talk shows with Art and he's all smiles and his face lights up. He talks about Art in glowing terms and goes out of his way to emphasize that Art sings "very well." I think it's a similar dynamic to Lennon/McCartney where, as talented and capable as is Paul, McCartney really loves, respects and admires Lennon and is always trying to curry his favor, but Lennon, like Art, takes him for granted, can take him or leave him, and can dole out the abuse without remorse.
Oh no no, Paul's voice is the best and so so so stunning! ❤️ And Arthur's makes me vomit, who else have that pitch feminin voice? Actually all Arthur's behaviour amd gestures makes me vomit, I find him disgusting and repulsive.
This is July 2023 and this song continues to be exceedingly popular even today. The lyrics are legendary, music is marvellously melodious and singing is soulful, sincere, spellbinding, superb and sweet. ❤❤

I pray first that you know personally the Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ, and you grow in his love, and you know the deep truth of him dying and paying for your sins, and because he is God and the Resurrection and the life, DEATH COULD NOT HOLD HIM, so you accepting him as your Lord and savior Death will not hold you either and you will live eternally after this life with Your great God and Saviour Jesus Christ . And if it's his will for you to go on further in this temporal life you exemplify the character of Christ now in you to bring others to this truth of who Jesus is
No wild band, no half naked woman, no blinding lights. A guitar and two very talented artists Simon and Paul made the world a bit better to live in. Thanks God for giving talents to them.
. *But naked women and Bluetooth always improve anything, though.*
Not everything, for instance a children's party, or a wedding. Makes things trashy.
They gave themselves those talents through hard work and practice though
@@ryanmccloskey4292 absolutely
Actually, it's Art and Paul. (Simon is Paul's last name)
How is it possible that 45 years after this song came out, this duo could still perform it so majestically?
And you can sing along with them . Fantastic.
God makes it possible.
Love your comment!
True musicians. No other words. It's February 2023, and it's timeless, tearful too.
its a masterpiece
If you do something for 4 decades you're probably gonna start getting decent at it :)
When they smile at each other, despite years of differences, just before starting to sing ....... music transcends almost everything.
Honestly, I think that smile was when Simon changed chords/positions on the fretboard of the guitar, and was clearly out of tune. But they go for it. What can you do? Lol.
Sounds just fine to me.
wondering how many kids are listening to this! hope they know how to appreciate it

Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel should be deemed a National Treasure. True artists and talent. I thank them for getting me through a difficult time in my life when silence was a blessing. Thank you gentlemen, you made a difference in one person's life with your positive influence. God Bless you both.

It's already a depressingly hopeful song, but it brings back memories.
sorry :(
+Talia Carney About 1000 years ago an illiterate Chinese general said something that has stuck with me. "You are never truly dead as long as the living remember you." Think about that whenever you think of your dad.

+IceAssassin10 same here. Born September 2002 And I grew up listening to pop, but then my dad showed me his music, rock n roll, and I loved it so much. To this day, I love rock n roll and I hate pop.
+Nick Dearman
Well, I respect your opinion, but you shouldn't hate ALL pop. I mean, there are still good pop songs out there, it's just hard to find :/
+vincent stewart exactly man. I think of this as a softer version of rock n roll. I totally agree with you my man.
+IceAssassin10 i don't. I just don't like the NEWER pop songs. I don't think it takes much skill anymore to do what they do.
The first line of this song grabs my spine with icy fingers of recognition. People can see with their eyes, but their minds are blind. To wish to speak but be rendered silent. To go forever mute among the hearing. This I recognize.
Very poetic

Wonderful memory !
I so remember when Ms. Heinrich played this song in English class when I was in 8th grade, then she gave all of us the printed lyrics and our class was to openly dissect the meaning of the song. Wow what a discussion! We then asked her to play the song again before leaving to our next class. Gave me a new outlook to the meaning of words in a song!!!

fuck me its obvious theres some kind of pitch correction going on here.
Wonderful words.
Thank you for sharing this with us my friends.
they're not humans they're angels
Edit:thanks for the likes!and also I used angels as a metaphor you don't have to comment telling me they're not angels or fight in the comments about religion...I felt like writing "angels" because in my first language(which is not english obviously)we often use this word when someone sings beautifully and with soul such as these two great musicians!
We all bow to the regime, but once we do, continuing to pretend to be a rebel is a hypocrisy that offends the Holy Spirit.
step off the ledge
You're not humans, you're an alien
Super Lied
We walked, and listen to angles who've walked and sang amongst us, yet it wasn't silent! Thanks!
Clearly one of the best pop/rock/folk songs of all time. Truely iconic.
That smile they share at 1:08 is priceless. They may not get on so well nowadays but there is a deep musical connection and respect for each other's talents which they will never lose.
I know! Their smile just washed years away and for the sake of art.
Obviously Paul Simon is a poet and musicial genius. But Art Garfunkel's voice is just stunning. Maybe the best pop vocalist of all-time.
Oh no no, Paul's voice is the best and so so so stunning! ❤️ And Arthur's makes me vomit, who else have that pitch feminin voice? Actually all Arthur's behaviour amd gestures makes me vomit, I find him disgusting and repulsive.
