Only because it was a simpler, better time. It seemed as if time moved slower back then. You didn't have cell phones to distract you; one had time for building friendships.
We played this at my mother's funeral. Just over 13 weeks ago my brothers and I was told our mother had days rather than weeks to live, she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. I want people to know what a brave, strong amazing warrior she was, she fought a very tough battle just to stay with us as long as she could. She was amazingly brave. we will all miss her dearly, there is now a huge void in our lives.

As a strong believer that there is life after death, this is a song [even if filled great sadness] that we will carry on in our hearts, in our souls for eternity as it will transcend time and space. To all the people who have lost their loved ones in their lifetime, have faith because it is the only force that gives us hope, that drives us forward along our life's journey. I firmly believe that we will reunite one day in God's Kingdom for everlasting life. Do not despair, we are here on Earth for only a brief passage in time like a spec of dust. To all the people that have been diagnosed and are stricken with a terminal disease, have faith that there are greater things waiting for you in God's Kingdom. My heart and compassion pours out along with my prayers for all of you. May God bless you all. I have lost many family members and friends along my life's journey, but I have faith and refuse to believe that we turn into dust and nothing more.
I sure do miss the 70s, 80s and 90s. Sometimes I wish I could find a time machine and go back in time. Life was much easier and everyone enjoyed life! Is this your favorite song?
@@kennethbooher2223 thank you for liking my reply Terry Jack’s this was his best song. It would be nice if you listen to some Van Morrison I love all that music but try this song, brand-new day. this is one of my favourites by Van Morrison and I believe he’s one of the greatest and in this one he plays the saxophone.
I lost my soulmate and my daughter within the same few months this was one of their favorite songs and I lost them over 25 years ago and I still miss them with all my heart , I love you two and soon we will be reunited again as a family once again
I am truely sorry to hear this. I hope you can find peace and move on. This song is just crazy heart breaking. It was the funeral song of my grandpa and always brings me to tears
At 64 I realize just how fortunate it is to have a good life, good health, good job, good friends and most importantly having a soulmate that shared their life with you. If you have these things, thank God everyday. I never thought it could be that hard to these simple things.
My friend died at 23. We'd met at around 5yrs old. His grandpa called us David and Jonathan, not knowing who was the the naughty one. We shared girlfriends, and life. I'll always miss him and none can ever take his place. I miss my friend, brother, Gavin. It's impossible to reflect on the friendship we had for the short time we had had together. Of one can grasp the meaning of true friendship it could be possible,😢
The times were tumultuous. Much hate, love and death. The music brings all of us for our own reasons. Let it bring what you need. Don't judge anyone else for their needs and memories. ♥️

I was in Vietnam with the Marine Recon Unit. I lost many friends during my tour there. This song makes me think of my friends who fought and died besides me.
Thank you for your service! My dad lost most of his friends in the Vietnam War...and now 45+ years on, he brings the traveling Vietnam Wall to the town where he’s worked hard to become a councilman. He tells me of the wonders of the 60’s but the sadness’s of the war and how many friends never returned or were treated poorly when coming back from the war at only 19-20 etc. I can’t imagine how it was to feel that and so thank you for what you sacrificed for the country and what the country had those young kids do by mandatory rules. No choice at age 18-24 / you are SO APPRECIATED AND NEVER FORGOTTEN!
James Stueck thank you for your service/I cannot imagine what it was like - even when I watch all the real-time footage and documentaries on Vietnam... it’s just very hard to put words to
I'm a Grunt. Was killed in 1978. Dead 100 days. I'm ashamed I'm too much of a coward to blow my brains out. I saw my buddies die also. They were better men/Marines than me. Got a bottle full of pills in my hand right now, but that's too p**** for a Marine. If I can ever conquer my cowardice, I'll go out like a Marine: .44 RemMag thru the brain. (.45 would be better, but a scumbag I trusted stole the .45 I carried in the Corps.)
I was born in the early 60s and today's music don't come close to what I grew up with and still listen to it today. 60s 70s 80s was and still is the best music ever played including country, rock and every other genre of music.
Hell yea, even country was cool back then, give me some Coe any day over the crap they push today. And don't get me started on Zappa, I'll write a block text no will read. So many greats.
David Leaney DL, I am sorry for your loss. I was also there in the 70’s and remember people thinking this song was ‘cheesy’. Natural I guess as we were young and going to live forever. As the years go by and we accumulate life experience, it takes on new meaning. It sounds as if you were fortunate to have found a life partner with which to share and build memories. Although all things must end hopefully these memories will last. May you be well.
@@pspicer777 Thank you for your extremely kind words, however I feel bad that I may have unintentionally mislead you. We first met at about the age of 11 and started dating until we left school at 16 then due to work commitments we drifted apart, occasionally meeting up at parties, school reunions ect. Eventually marrying other people, then in 2008 both having failed marriages we got together and married in 2009. Sadly she passed away in 2016 with a brain tumour. I should never have let her slip through my fingers all those years ago. Please forgive me for misleading you.
David Leaney DL, your story as you have filled it out is truely wonderful. Full of rich life experiences ... it might be that without the intermediate experiences, you and your wife would not have had the synergies that existed in your marriage. One will never know for sure, but it does sound as if you were able to find true love and partnership in the time you had together. Very few do. A life lived to the best of ones ability, although imperfect, needs no apology. Be well DL.
Sorry my friend.. :( May she Rest in peace. I can relate.. lost one of my best friends 2,5 years ago at the age of 25 due to an accicdent.. and this was one of his favourite songs and was played at his funeral too. This song gets me everytime..
This record really does hit home to us 55+ year olds. And for many different reasons. For me, it reminds me of my useless drunken dad and my poor dear downtrodden mother who had to put up with his shit. He was pathetic and i wish i could get him out of my head. Love you mum.
Busyboy 42 Learn to let that shit go. How you might ask? Ask yourself and be honest; what purpose does it serve to allow him to occupy your head space? What good are you getting from this? You're holding onto something that's slowly stealing the light in your life. Last but not least and the hardest; FORGIVE HIM. You're not doing it for him, you're doing it for your own sake! You don't need to put yourself through this any longer. Be compassionate, to yourself. Peace
Jill King I blame Partridge Family songs turning me into Rock n Roll junkie, I was crazy about Rock Music, Stones, Zeppelin, Alice Cooper. In High School a Teacher got Allman Brothers to play for us. Funny because it was a Catholic School. It was funny in Buffalo, NY almost every band opened saying HELLO BUFFALO. That Buffalo called SNOW CAPITAL OF USA because of 1977 Blizzard. I get it we got 19 feet of snow that winter. City & Schools closed 3 weeks. We only got Visitors because Niagara Falls is close. Even now we average 10 feet from Lake Erie. Always WHITE CHRISTMAS IN BUFFALO
This song makes me recall a girl that I went to school with. Pam and I went to Junior High and High School together. She lived 3 houses from me and we would walk home together. She thought of me as the brother she never had. I loved her dearly but she was a year older than me and much more mature. She was lost to cancer several years ago but I still think of her often.
Seasons in the Sun" is the story of a dying man, bidding farewell to loved ones who have shared his life. ... With the money he made from this song, Jacks purchased a boat, which he christened "Seasons in the Sun." He began sailing up and down the west coast of Alaska and Canada, and had some revelations along the way.
In my youth I thought it was a song about suicide and the final message left. Over the years, and after suffering the loss of my parents, sister and too many friends, I understand it for what it is. A heartfelt message of love from a dying person or to a dying person.
I relate to this at a deep and very emotional level, the fist part a friendship of 40 years. The second goodbye Michelle a tribute to my sister lost to covid. I will be with her soon this will be played at my funeral as well as Disturbeds sound of silence. I am being hounded by authorities because of my decision but all is good happy with my choice of songs.
my father died june 2018 because of heart attack, he sings this song randomnly when he was still alive, i still remember how beautiful his voice is. i miss him so much ❤️
Be encouraged Annie . I lost my dad when i was 10 years old - 43 years ago. Believe in eternal life and that we will meet our dads again, God bless you loads
My old girlfriend married one of my good friends......we were all friends and hung out together after they were a couple. He died 2 years ago and she died last year. This song made me cry remembering them. I'm 74 and almost all my old friends from my 20s and 30s are gone. The most painful part of old age is recalling all the folks you loved that have passed.
I'm lost in the 60's and 70's music, i also love the 50's music, these are the best era's ever filled with great songs and great talent. I lived the 60's and 70's and i'm so glad i got to experience this.
When I hear this song, I think of my younger brother. We grew up in the 70s and did much the same as what's mentioned in the song. He was my best man when I married my wife that's how much I thought of him. He passed away from brain cancer 4 years ago. I miss him so much it sometimes hurts.
This reminds me if being 17 and being driven to work by my Dad. The drive was from Chino Valley AZ to Prescott Az down the highway we drove I can still see him driving along with this song playing. We had just moved there from PA. Our family had broken up and he had the younger children, myself and my older brother came along. He raised the three younger ones from there on. He was a wonderful man and a good father. ❤❤❤❤❤
Lost my high school, first love after 4 years to a brain stem tumor in 1977. I have been happily married for 36 years, but honestly not a day goes by I don't think of him and miss him. Thankfully, my husband gets it. God Bless you and words pass, memories are permanent.
Don't worry too much... There are many people that have a very fond memory of our first true loves......I still think of one early love, and how it still affects me after so many decades have gone by. (Even though to this day she stays in a loveless and sad relationship.) The times of great music with meanings that we don't have these days, makes us go back in time to when we were young, and our love was young and fresh too. Life is too short I must say....
Weren't the '70s good years for catchy music? Born 17/12/66, my childhood, teens, 20s & 30s saw me through undiagnosed partial-autism. At least music lets me look on my 1st 10yrs in positive terms.
I'm listening, this is a heartbreaking song. I lost my dad and sister a year ago 3 months apart, it makes me think of them and cry. They don't make music like they did in the 70s and 80s. I miss you papa and sis
RIP, Robbie. I will never forget the day I came home from work, you were there, with a note on the coffee table with this song title. I said, "oh! I know this song!" and you said, "you need to listen to it again." and just two months later...you passed away from this life. I miss you so much. Til we meet again--always and forever--your Princess
When I was younger, I always played this song because it has a lot of meaning to it. I still listen to it because the words and music is so nice. I loved the 70s.
This song came out right after my dad was killed. I was only three and hardly remember him but i remember this song on the radio and it reminded me of him. Still can't listen to this song without crying. Miss and love you dad 😢

I beg to differ but the hardest part of getting old is getting old!!
What's 'old'?
It used to be so easy getting old. Now it is more painful and difficult. Some body parts are brand new while others are ancient.

I first heard the song on 1972 at the age of seven now I am 56 and still listening to it, brings tear in my eyes.
we're the same age I was 7 in 1972 and I can remember this song, and all the others we had gifted to us in the 70's by artists with true talent.
I was born overseas in 67 on military base.
Born in 1966. 5 years ago I was in the Duke hospital saying my final goodbyes to my youngest son who had been hit by a driver who left the scene three days before. We have since moved away from the Durham, NC area because of the the pain was just no longer safe for us.
We truly do love and miss you our Son and your brother is lost without you. Our lives will never be the same!

@Covidarius Jackson jackson you complete prat
Wow so deep but true nonetheless

Be well DL.

Learn to let that shit go.

Hello Heather how are things going with you?
(Even though to this day she stays in a loveless and sad relationship.)
The times of great music with meanings that we don't have these days, makes us go back in time to when we were young, and our love was young and fresh too.
Life is too short I must say....
