- In November 1996, Andrea and Sarah Brightman were invited to perform the duet 'Time To Say Goodbye (Con Te Partirò)' at the farewell contest of the German World Light-Heavyweight boxing champion, Henry Maske. A national hero held in unrivaled esteem, he is known for his love of selecting entrance themes to his bouts. Sarah Brightman, the internationally renowned soprano and friend of Henry Maske heard 'Con Te Partirò' in a restaurant while dining with her friends. Entranced by the singer and the song, Brightman made contact with Andrea. Andrea and Brightman re-recorded 'Con Te Partirò' as the duet 'Time To Say Goodbye' with members of the London Symphony Orchestra.
This live version is from Brightman's first full concert recording, "Sarah Brightman: In Concert", from London's Royal Albert Hall with the London Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Paul Bateman. Guest artists include Andrew Lloyd Webber, Adam Clark and Andrea Bocelli. The concert was released to video in 1998.

My grandmother had this played at her funeral, she was not Italian but her husband was Italian. She kept her ring from his death in the 80’s and kept it ever since even during Dementia, she remembered his spirit during that period and made it adamant that this song be played during her funeral. It was played during the caskets departure to the hearse. God bless her she stayed loyal to Pasquale to the end. Today this song makes my mother cry every time. For me it holds great sentimental value.

My Dad passed away 10mos ago very suddenly and unexpected. The first time I heard this song was after his funeral about a month or so later. I started crying and crying uncontrollably and couldn't stop. It touched my soul

It is Sept 2020 and almost 3 years since my Father passed away. This version was played at his funeral and I have not watched or listened to it since that day. Watching now I have tears of great memories and of a wonderful man.

The non vocal part this song had long existed titled Con Te Partiro, possibly i may have botched the spelling but thats close enough anyway. Time to say goodbye came from when I believe a German boxer reached his retirement and the boxer happened to be friends with the female in the video and heard the original while at lunch with her. She knew Andrea and contacted him and Time to say goodbye came to be. Funny enough I discovered this song while watching Japanese MMA around 2000 and a Japanese fighter named Akiyama nicknamed Sexyama and he had started using this as is walkout song. And as soon as I heard it I looked it up. It just Sara singing it by herself with no male vocals.
I was lucky enough to have been taught an early appreciation of many musical styles and variations from childhood. My moms side of the family surrounded me with real world class musicians so growing up i was the kid that listened to weird music according to other kids.
Another over-the-hill rocker from way back. Outstanding duet from two amazing voices.
Performing this song is not an easy thing. Respect to them😊
