I don't think Art sounds horrible here, maybe not exactly the same, the only difference is he is singing at a lower key than the key he usually sings at. He still sounds very good actually. I think he smoked a lot which is why his voice might sound a little dark because of that. But it isn't terrible. His voice is just at a lower key in pitch. It still sounds great and he is still able to hit the notes, just one key and pitch down. Very good Art! Glad you are coming back!!!!!

This song, along with “The Sounds of Silence “ bring back so many fond memories! I’m 70 years old. As a kid , I would spend time staying at our family farm for a few weeks every Summer. I was 12 or 13 the first time I heard “The Sounds.....”, along with my surrogate Grandmother. I was amazed that someone “her age” liked that song!😆So many happy memories! I tell adults in their 20,s and 30,s to cherish and make the most of their time now, because they will make their best memories while they’re young! That certainly has been my experience, and most of the people I know in their later years! 🤔🤔
For me - in a very sad and meaningful moment - the line "when evening falls so hard" - performed in a way by Paul Simon that i just can't describe - means everything.
There may NEVER be a duet like this again!!! This is what it sounds like when your voice is an instrument that just takes over everything else. Both are great by themselves but WOW - together - like no one else.
Such a beautiful gift, this song. I was a young child when this song was written and released. Heard it on the radio for years and always liked it but only been recently could comprehend how remarkable it is. I grew up in a difficult home at times, but at 57, facing even tougher battles. When you have experienced trauma or hit rock bottom, you can truly understand how profound this song is and your heart aches for some comfort. One of the most beautiful songs ever written and recorded. Simon & Garfunkel, incredible duet and songwriters. They don’t make them like this anymore. Thank you for helping the troubled souls out there.
The phrase is borrowed from an old gospel song if I'm not mistaken, so yeah, it does indeed come from above. Amen! To Paul and Art. May they stay forever young.
Indeed Paul is an admirable composer but I also have doubts that this piece is from him, because it is a piano master piece - not guitar. Nevertheless he deserves all our love and andmiration. Paul Simon!

These duo taught us that no matter how far they go, in their different ways, still music can bring them together and this song reminds us that friendship is something that we should treasure, and that's how magical the music it is. :)

God man... I put on the good headphones, have it cranked and by the end of it, I'm just sitting here crying, smiling, and looking like a damn psychopath in the middle of the cafe.. this is music friends..
Art Garfunkel focusses so intensely on the perfection he puts out,he actually looks depleted. The miracle that is these voices.Still after all these years...classic wonderful.
I think it's beautiful how they came together and sang the song that once broke them up. It's no longer about jealousy or resentment. It's just the two of them, sharing this beautiful masterpiece together.
PabloCruise91 From what I've gathered Simon wrote the song for Garfunkel to sing, which Garfunkel at first didn't want because he liked the way that Simon sung it himself. When Garfunkel finally agreed to sing it it became a huge hit and many people thought that because Garfunkel had such passion in the song he must have written it himself, to which Simon of course wasn't very happy. When Garfunkel would begin the song during a live performance Simon would actually leave the stage instead of joining in at the third verse. There has of course been a lot of other reasons for their break up but it is good to see that they at least could perform the song together.
This is a fuking performance. I guess only when u come of a certain age and musical ability can u understand the value of this performance. And also of a certain understanding in creativity and meaning of experience in life can u really grasp this performance to feel every nuance of it. These two are geniuses.
I wouldn't have mentioned this if you didn't try to gatekeep musical ability on the basis of age, but this performance is pretty heavily auto tuned. The discussion under another comment seems to suggest that it was added in post, but it's still there. Don't try to pump yourself up by belittling other people when you can't even hear this clear production gaffe.
Genius song crafting. The arrangement, the choice of instrumentation, the vocals, the timing. “ Father,, spare me this hour, I’m so frightened “ Son you will have all the courage you shall require, for remember, I’m right behind.

AAAmen! it took his breath away...God breathed for him through him
Despite their misunderstanding at the end of that fabulous song or just by the end of the day they still knocking friends
@@royventura2650 don't they hate each other?
@@Retroearthling yes. they hate each other like poison. LOL
@@brianbytheocean Dang even till today?
It's miracle that two more than 60 years old people can sing a song like this.
They are both in their 70's,always have been utterly amazed by their songs even as a child.
yeah you are right!!!
lin rui they were both 68 when this occured
For me - in a very sad and meaningful moment - the line "when evening falls so hard" - performed in a way by Paul Simon that i just can't describe - means everything.
No theatrics, no half naked women, just pure quality on stage
Bless you!
Holy shit. Magic. The whole song is great, but from "Sail on Silver Girl" on is where the song goes next level imo.
I never understood their differences, however, when the two sing together it is ethereal!
Don't get me wrong, Art is an amazing singer, but imagine writing down this masterpiece, that comes from above, so thank you Paul you are a legend
Paul Simon!
Don’t forget Paul Simon wrote this masterpiece.

Die beste Musik ever. Habe Simon Garfunkel in München gesehen. Einfach spitze. Könnten sie noch einmal auftreten, ich wäre bestimmt dabei. Egal, ob New York, Sydney oder Kapstadt.
These duo taught us that no matter how far they go, in their different ways, still music can bring them together and this song reminds us that friendship is something that we should treasure, and that's how magical the music it is. :)
Are u filipino?
@@NB20079 yes. I am 😅💪🇵🇭
they are like a married couple that don't get along......but they are best together.......they will always be best friends from child hood.........
Every so often there comes a song that it is so beautiful that no matter how long ago it stands the test of time and will be remembered for all time.
They were actually both English teachers in the same school and discovered they had some vocal chemistry at a camping field trip
Check out Tom and Jerry -- they were still in school then.
@@canadiandeplorable2087 they were both english teachers? I think you meant students. They were best friends since very early school days, and had their first break at 16. Paul is less than a month older than Art.
@@AA-sn9lz Thanks for clearing that up. Art was a high school math teacher though
Das sind noch Musiker!
Ein Live Auftritt mit diesen Stimmen und einem Text mit Tiefgang. .....
Mir stehen die Tränen in den Augen.
Grüsse Aus Deutschland.
Simon & Garfunke must be one of the greatest singing duos of all time their harmonies are fantastic and will live on forever
These two are a national treasure.
I can’t stop my self from having teary eyes while listening to the song as I remember my happy childhood in the late 70’ to early 90’s and wishing I can travel back and enjoy the simple life with my family.
The way Paul steps back respectfully and lets Art take this soaring to the end says alot.
Pure vocals,no ear plugs either
One of the greatest duets the world has ever seen. Love how Paul shows his appreciation at the end. After all the years of not talking, the bond was still there
When you're weary
Feeling small
When tears are in your eyes
I will dry them all
I'm on your side
When times get rough
And friends just can't be found
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
When you're down and out
When you're on the street
When evening falls so hard
I will comfort you
I'll take your part
When darkness comes
And pain is all around
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Sail on Silver Girl,
Sail on by
Your time has come to shine
All your dreams are on their way
See how they shine
If you need a friend
I'm sailing right behind
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind
When they start singing the last verse ("I'm sailing right behind...") I get chills.
Oh Yes...Same here
i do too.
I did as well and really never liked the song.
Ohhh yesss. Tears.
so put on a cardigan, seaman john.
God man... I put on the good headphones, have it cranked and by the end of it, I'm just sitting here crying, smiling, and looking like a damn psychopath in the middle of the cafe.. this is music friends..
a moment in time for sure. very moving my friend!!!
I was in their concert in Boston, I was cried a few times!
totally
None ever after
Minoru Kasanoke Amen Brother!
There are zero artists that compare to these two gentlemen ❤️❤️❤️
Gentlemen?
This is definitely one of THE Songs of all time, by Art Garfunkel, especially when he sang it alone at the Pop Concert in Central Park many years ago.
As being through some kinds of trauma in life, I'm devastated. And their voices gently embrace my broken heart
the third legend is the one on the piano.
Oh my god yes
who's the pianist please?
Dunno love, judging from his age must be original member of the group.
Le Tung Warren Bernhardt
Juriah Din They had a different guy at the concert in Central Park.
Truly blessed by God!!Two of the greatest singers of all time!! Just love them!!
Art Garfunkel focusses so intensely on the perfection he puts out,he actually looks depleted. The miracle that is these voices.Still after all these years...classic wonderful.
This song is amazing, it’s just to trained voices singing great lyrics. No electronic sounds, just a piano and vocals, truly captivating
Love them both! Art Garfunkle's voice is truly sublime and his pitch is impeccable. Goose Bumps.
Oh lord, thank you for this beautiful sound
Hats off to Art Garfunkel... My admiration for him is immense.
I think it's beautiful how they came together and sang the song that once broke them up. It's no longer about jealousy or resentment. It's just the two of them, sharing this beautiful masterpiece together.
Mikael Hansson Why did they break up? I'm not a huge fan of them.
+Mikael Hansson I would love to more of this story.

This is a fuking performance. I guess only when u come of a certain age and musical ability can u understand the value of this performance. And also of a certain understanding in creativity and meaning of experience in life can u really grasp this performance to feel every nuance of it. These two are geniuses.
Although I'm just 17 years old, I hear their songs for most of my life because of my father, and I often come back realising how great these songs are
good for you lil' un !!
Day light, I grew up around the last of the baby boomers i know all of these lol and when i say baby boomers i mean my grandpa is 64
I wouldn't have mentioned this if you didn't try to gatekeep musical ability on the basis of age, but this performance is pretty heavily auto tuned. The discussion under another comment seems to suggest that it was added in post, but it's still there.
Don't try to pump yourself up by belittling other people when you can't even hear this clear production gaffe.

My brother lost his life in a fire. We played this at his funeral. His pain he suffered in life,I hope he was able to walk over the bridge to Heaven🙏

Impeccable harmonies and powerful voices even in their 70s. Pure talent
Two of the greatest singers ever.
When they came back together and harmonised, my heart swelled. Beautiful
Yes!
why did you copy someone else's comment?
Genius song crafting. The arrangement, the choice of instrumentation, the vocals, the timing.
“ Father,, spare me this hour, I’m so frightened “
Son you will have all the courage you shall require, for remember, I’m right behind.
They spoke to an entire generation and continue to do so. Namaste
I adore Simon to give that last part to Garfunkel. These 2 are legend!

May generations to come know the pure beauty of the harmonies of Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel and the wisdom in their lyrics👍🎼, you will not hear better 🎼Si bless you both
They are just something else. They are the first older generation singers that can still sing it as it is. Wow, just wow

The way Paul leans back so art can do his magic completely shows what an amazing friendship they have and deep respect for each other. I get goosebumps when ever I hear them sing I swear this must be what heaven sounds like.
