I'm currently 19 and my dad passed away almost 2 months ago. We used to play and sing this song together, especially this version. His favourite verses were the ones added during this concert. Now I play the song on my own, knowing that he's probably singing somewhere along as well. Love you dad, wherever you may be. The boxer still remains.
Don't you worry pal your dad is somewhere beautiful so trust me I ain't religious in any sense but he's OK pal so take comfort all old hippies go to nirvana xxx
lost my father 2 years today - if you loved, which you quite clearly did and he no doubt also - cherish that fact - as a father of children now as long as there is love - life is short but that love is a gift- I am so sorry for your loss
so sad.... tears swelling in my eyes. paul (simon) and art(garfunkel) you probably don't remember me, but you talked to me at ruby's cafe 1976. You guys changed my life. God bless you two. I'm know 78 with minor alztimerz and i fear my time is coming. I just wanted to comment on this performance. I love you guys - Wolf M. Marsh Edited April 3rd, 2020 Three years ago, I handed my grandfather my laptop to let him write one last message to Simon and Garfunkel. He had no idea that videos like this could be found on the internet, and he broke down in tears while he listened. This September he passed away after a four year battle with kidney failure, but he was very fortunate that his Alzheimer’s never progressed much further than when he posted this comment. He commented with the name Wolf M. Marsh. That is my name. I assume he said my name instead of his because he didn’t want his name circulating out of the internet, but I am so glad his story has become so well known to you all. The world would be such a better place if everyone on it was as kind and empathetic as the people replying beneath me. All the love on the planet to you folks, ~Wolf M. Marsh
everyone's time is coming but the heart felt words you wrote made me think.... Eventhough these guys will probably never read these comments and who knows what kind of impact the fans have on them,. Your message my friend, made me emotional enough to stop and comment on how beautifully you expressed a good many of our feelings. I simply adore S&G. I wish you well also. Thank you
Wolf Marsh I love those guys , too. I have all their albums on vinyl and CD's . I am 66 and don't know if I will make it to 78, I can only hope. There have been many things during my lifetime I have feared , only to look back in retrospect and realize that being afraid had been a waste of my time and energy. As a child , I was acutely aware of my mortality as to the point of lying awake at night in fear of not waking the next morning. I do not know how "normal" it is for a young child to have such an intense fear of the end of life , because I have never shared this with anyone. At 66 , I am much closer to "my time" than when I was 10 , yet my level of fear of that moment has decreased to the point of almost being non-existent. Of all the people I have loved during my lifetime , most of them are no longer here and I miss them. When "my time" is upon me , I know that I will be in good company, following in the footsteps of many good friends. Our time here grows shorter and shorter with the passing of each day , we do not have time to be afraid. Wolf , may GOD bless and keep us both.
I love how, as they sing `after changes upon changes we are more or less the same...`, Paul has a quick glance to Art, who in return gives him a pat on the back a few seconds later. very touching.
@@lucillapietrantoni7969 sì, soprattutto quando ti rendi conto che litigavano molto durante le prove del concerto. E poi, solo per qualche istante, tutto fu dimenticato, uniti ancora una volta dalla musica...(sorry if my Italian is not good... Blame Google 😉)
Thank you for pointing this out.I thought I was the only one who noticed this,Knowing that they had disagreements. Also the audience started to cheer because they also saw this interaction. So moving.
I am old at 63 but would not change my age for I lived through the best music we will ever know...and as Simon and Garfunkel, I can say I love them as much as the Beatles...their ability to tell a story and grab your. heart is unique...they dont make songs like this anymore...enjoy younger generations,
+pamela mcdonald I disagree, softly at age 67. This song is in my top 5 with Helen O'rigby/Help and a few others- but Billy Joel's Down Easter Alexa and dave matthews" "Grave Digger" are direct descendants and proof great music can be written by any generation.
@@dlbstl It was written by Paul Simon. "Paul Simon himself has suggested that the lyrics are largely autobiographical, written during a time when he felt he was being unfairly criticized: 'I think I was reading the Bible around that time. That's where I think phrases such as "workman's wages" came from, and "seeking out the poorer quarters". That was biblical. I think the song was about me: everybody's beating me up, and I'm telling you now I'm going to go away if you don't stop.' " en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Boxer
Totally agree, all these "Who's listening in (insert year)" fucking pathetic fishing for likes. Sad fuckers with no meaning to their lives other than youtube likes, I feel sorry for them tbh
OMG….after seeing this video I wanted to comment something. Decided I’d read a few first because I wanted me words do expel meanings from “days gone by”…and the I saw your comment. My friend you said it all…perfectly all. My heart literally skipped a beat. Your words projected back to those days in the early 70’s when I use to listen to S&G literally every single day. I’d throw an “8-track” into my car 8-track player, let the top down and cruise around listening to some of the greatest songs any artist ever wrote and produced. Their music is timeless and never grows old.
And the lyrics are meaningful word art/poetry. I was 15 when this came out. I was set to get my drivers license in September and my dad comes home one day and says we are moving to Germany. So I spent 6 months fully traumatized in my room listening to Paul and Art. I survived and I got really lucky with the Vietnam draft lottery. So this has profound meaning to me now as it did then.
My friend, you just perfectly summed up what I was thinking but couldn't find the right words for! How true it is that their music specifically was so pure...the harmonics...the tempo changes...their pure talent for music. Thank you.
This is February 2021. I listen to this song and others and it takes back more than 50 years ago at age 19 on my way to the Vietnam war sailing on a Navy ship and so much uncertainty. Just a kid. Now I'm 74 years old still listening to all these songs of the 60s. Miss my youth.
I am also 74 years old living in Canada. I used to listen this song with my former girl friend. I was University student at times when some of my friends went to Vietnam War to help Vietnam and USA. Later I served at Korean Army as an infant officer after I finished ROTC. I still love this song and Simon & Garfunkel. I immigrated to Canada in 1990.
I've just been watching a number of their songs from this special concert. This is the first one where the social interaction between the two of them is small but significant. The little glance at each other, Simon's warm hand on the back of Garfunkel. This was one of their best songs harmonically at the concert, they knew it and it made them happy.
Ironically, it was the harmonies of the Everly brothers than Paul Simon and Art Garfunkle admired that helped them develop their music. At this iconic performance in Central Park in NYC, they brought the EBs on stage. .then stood in the wings admiring them sing. THAT. . .was royalty.
Listening to Simon and Garfunkel is just like hearing two angels sing. No matter how bad things are, or how low I'm feeling, their music always transports me to a far better place. Absolutely beautiful.
This song could be about me. I was engaged to be married 40 years ago, we were expecting a baby. It was cut short, I was dumped and broken. After weeks and weeks not moving from my room, then I went out and joined the Army. I left my family and home town, I was lonely and broken. 40 years latter I found my son, not living too far from my brother. I have contacted him, we have met and I knew he was my son by looking into his eyes. He is about to make me a Granddad, I am that poor boy no more.
I'm from the 80ths generation's music, we'll never have better, Bee gees, Simon and Garfunkel, Dire Strait, U2, Talk Talk. Eminem comes out, he's so good
@@karmicselling4252 Was just going to say the Everly Brothers, who were their role models and inspiration. There was another iconic NYC concert in the 80s that had far less attendance, but was every bit as poignant and memorable as S&G's 1981 Central Park concert. That was when the Everly Brothers played in Midwood Field, Brooklyn in 1987. They gave one of the most flawless performances I've ever seen. Their harmonies were incredible. S&G paid tribute to them by singing "Bye Bye Love" on their album.
H Jarvis. Not sure whyI’m here in 2022. Saw your comment. I am 72. I was a ‘boxing Doctor’ in Belfast for 40 years. Looked after some great boys. Hope you are well .
Totally agree I went to see them in new York for my 50th absolutely brilliant ,then saw Paul Simon in concert Birmingham, there music will never be outdated.
Me too...there was an awful lot of good music when I was young (I'm a few years yonger than you) It seems to me that it was a special era in many ways, including real music, and that there is nothing or very little of the same standard.....but but maybe that is because I am getting old...
Saw Art Garfunkel in Trondheim, Norway, in about 1996. Unforgettable - he was so un-stuck up, so relaxed, so much just someone like us...but he isn't. He is a special human, as is Paul Simon. Their music will keep me young, or at least ageless, as long as I live, can hear, and have access to their music Listening to this makes me remember that l am still alive and human. I'm now 72..
Paul Simon wrote “The Boxer” about his struggles as a musician. In the last verse, Simon compares himself to a boxer. The boxer is a metaphor for Simon’s perseverance. 2:02 [Song Stories Matter]
Quelle belle chanson quelle belle epoque l album m a etait offert en 1974 par mon premier amour de jeunesse aujourdhui j ai 70 ans cette chanson me plonge ds mes souvenirs
I am from Genova, on the north west coast of Italy, back in 1969 with a friend of mine we went all the way to Lugano, Switzerland to buy this record because in Italy came about six months later. I still love it ad the first time I heard it 💖
Think of the amazing music that could have been made and the music that could still be made if they could get along. Egos are the death of many a great things
It was good to see Garfunkel reach out and rub Paul’s back. Like, “ you did good brother. Look what we created with the songs you wrote”. I don’t know what came between these two men, but they can never deny that combined they were gold. And, I love Paul’s smile. I don’t think either of them aren’t fully aware of the mark on history this concert and their talents made.
I’ll never forget the concert that I was able to attend to in Ft. Lauderdale Florida. It was unbelievable, they sounded so beautiful harmonically. They are so beautiful together I know they have issues but oh my god they’re amazing! I’m just so grateful for them. Thank you Gentlemen, you’ve created a lot of joy between myself and my family, my brother 12 years my senior saw you in concert in NYC Park and I got to watch on television and see you! That’s when I got to see you Live and that’s when I fell in love with you thank you🎶.
"After changes, we are more or less the same." Smiles from both and Art's hand rubbing Paul's back is the epitome of real friendship. Friends fall out but they are never not friends.
JUST AMAZING MY SON IS NO FORTY FROM TWO YEARS HE FELL ASLEEP TO THESE AMAZING GUYS OTHER HE WOULD BEUP ALL NIGHT AND STILL LISTEN TO THEM NOW THATS WHAT YOU CALL AAAAAAMAZING
I was at this concert and remember the audience "singing" the cymbal crashes. Half a million people imitating a cymbal was surreal. It doesn't come through on the video but it was simply amazing in real life.
I’m 65, this is one of the most hauntingly beautiful songs I can think of. We of our age are blessed. We enjoyed the music of the ‘60s, ‘70s, and ‘80s. I do appreciate the music of today, I’m not fussy, beautiful music is timeless, but for me, our time presented the best you could hope for.
Actually, I think they had decided to change it up for the concert but Art forgot. The look that Paul gives him is kind of “Really? After all the rehearsals, you forgot?” At least that’s what it says to me! Can’t remember now if I read that somewhere or not. This album is one of my all-time favorites.
@@debbienockels7255 yep, spot on, Paul always left a gap there while singing this live to let the cheering die down. Art forgot which explains the smiles.
From the other side of Atlantic Ocean, 1984, a poor boy in Portugal heard this the first time... and he thought, there's life outside, there's something beautiful there...
I feel ya bud. Heard this song the forst time when I was a kid in highschool. As a foreign kid It made feel like I had a future regardless of my financial circunstances at the time.
I found them today. It's the first time I've heard this song, at the age of 24... Im In tears of joy, can't explain... I've heard true MUSIC... real music, now I know. I'm speechless. For people who said they remember being in this concert I can just imagine how magical it must have felt. True blessing.
Simon you have joined a massive club who love these guys. I have seen Paul in London, which was wonderful. But to see them together would be a blessing
my daughter was at this concert in central park, new york. My wife and i saw them 3 times, once in New york, Tampa, by luck in San Fransciso we were on vaction. they are great together.
Lucky you. Mostly among young people didn't have the luxury of hearing true music that we had before. I was so glad my 20 year old daughter love the song of the 70's.....
I'm 21 and I found out about them because they're the idols of two Dutch artists called Nick & Simon. This song is one of the most beautiful I've ever heard. I hate all the autotuned fake music from today. This is real quality.
+TW Peck Art went to sing it the way they originally recorded it, without the delay at "I have squandered". That pause must have been a change they had agreed to for the concert presentation..... They made subtle changes to Homeward Bound too but both versions are perfection .
You know for the rehearsals they did for this concert the two of them just fought the whole time. Paul Simon said in an interview "the rehearsals were just plain miserable, Arty and I fought the whole time"
Still listening in 2024. Grew up listening to this. Saw Simon and Garfunkel Story in the UK recently. I’m 51 and I was the youngest in the audience! Great show thought
Chokes me up every time I watch it!! when they sing “after changes we are more or less the same”, Paul glances over at Art and then closes his eyes and smiles as the chorus kicks in, clearly taking in the moment, and then Art reaches over and touches his back. Knowing that they had a “nasty breakup” years prior, and then this show happened, it just gets me every time. Such a sweet gesture, that I’m sure he thought would go unseen, but was seen by tens of millions of people.
GrissomLovesSara - Yes, it's as though this is his favorite among his own creations and Art sees the pure joy and responds with the gesture of an old friend from childhood and a fellow artist through adulthood.
I'm Japanese. When I heard this song first I was only 19. This is what I thought, " How come you know so much about me?" I felt so related. Now I'm over 60. Still love S&G.
Here in Sweden those two always keep their place on the Radio Station 1 ) is >In The Ghetto< with Elvis 2 ) John Lennons >Imagine< 3 ) >Hotel California< 4 ) >House of the Rising Sun< with is followed by 5 ) Bridge over troubled Water< All my love from Stockholm

The song and vocal performances aside, the true beauty of this performance was the relationship between Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel on fully display. When Paul started loosening up and smiling and dancing, Art noticed and you can see happiness wash over him as he touches Paul’s back. Sure, they have had their feuds and issues throughout the years, but none can deny the brotherly love and connection these two have.
The reason why Paul tightened up in the first place was because Art came in too early on the 3rd line of the 1st verse. They both knew it as you can tell by the expressions on their faces. Most would miss it as they are pros and covered it well. But Paul is a perfectionist and it took him a little time to let it go. Art acknowledged him for doing so.
its so endearing and charming, yet apparently he later said that paul purposefully embarrassed him and it added to the animosity between them 😭 what a shame
Art sang it like the recording. They could have rehearsed it differently, but it appears to me that Paul was late and in error, not that Art was early.
+Anita Fabian Another jealous one here :) Even though I saw them twice on their 2003/2004 tour, so I should be glad for that, as I never even dreamed it would be possible to see them live in this lifetime. I was 4 years old & lived on another end of the planet when this concert occurred. It must have been absolutely MAGICAL... just pure joy... to be in Central Park with S&G!!!
***** Of course, probably everyone listens to various music depending on moods... but if I had to choose only 1 top band -- Simon & Garfunkel are, and have been, that for me... for over 20yrs. There's another band I love now, but it's a completely different genre, so they are my #1 on metal scene. But I listen to everything ... except country & pop stuff (Bieber & whatnot).
Mind-blowing how 2 magical people stand in front of everywhere, stripped down without drums, distortion, beats, etc etc... And stand there performing actual legendary tunes made by themselves . The calm, the bravery... Let alone how serene these 2 are in unison. As unique as it gets.
What I love about this (apart from the incredible music, singing and performance) is that everyone is actually listening and there are no phones filming it. I’ve seen David Gilmour play numerous times but to have been at that performance must have been an absolute privilege. Brilliant!
My brother loved your music so much. Every time I hear your songs I remember all the times that I would see my brother blasting your music. Unfortunately my brother was killed in 1969. So I now play your albums every chance I get. Which brings the both of you and my brother back to me. God bless you both for the memories.
Art and Paul both look so good here. This is one of the times Paul actually smiles and laughs. They seem to have a real good time singing this song. Paul gets tickled when Artie messes up but Art goes on like a real trooper. Love these guys.
This totally epic. You will never see a duet that is so perfect together. The song writing and their voices was off the charts. And all they used was a guitar. That is pure Bliss
Jamie my name is Nick we were among 500,000 other people almost 40 years ago. Those truly were the good old days, considering the way the world is now definitely not as safe in 2020 with Covid 19, and all those sad terror attacks since than.
Oh man you are so fortunate to have witnessed such an epic performance of 2 of the greatest artists ever to grace the world. I’m 34 and I grew up listening to this duo because my dad loves them so much 😊 and it kickstarted my love for music from 60-70’s bands and artists 💗 he’s got the greatest hits original cd 😍
oh - you're right! (sorry, Art!) well, that actually explains Paul Simon's look a little better! :)) thanks...it might seem trivial to some, but i like to get little things like that straight. so i appreciate your time in doing so. :)) cheers, my friend. :))
That arm that Art put on Paul’s back shows just how supportive of friends I bet they truly were. Even through the break ups and the fights you just can’t deny their bond to each other
Yes, absolutely. And all great relations, specially when formed at around ten years old or so, have the ups and downs of life (plus those of both careers, and success...) , but still are the most precious ones, especially when there is such chemistry, as these two have, that produced such amazing, heartfelt music, art.
Well, to be far, Art was brilliant at harmonizing with Paul, and I'd put "them" on l my list too, but really, Paul is just singing and playing. Art does the heavy lifting here.
The perfect match between these two voices happens once in life, and I have the privilege of living in this century and being blessed by the sound of their music. I guess we'll have to wait one more century to enjoy such a fantastic gift.
I'm a kid, but my mom sometimes says that I have the soul of an old man (lol) because of my love for Simon & Garfunkel, thanks for my dad. Each of my favorite songs made by the duo hits me differently as I relate to them. The Boxer - Life is like a boxing match. Every left turn in life is like a punch from the gloves in the match, and it's important that we have to fight back, figuratively, in order to stay strong. I have the dream to write a fanfiction storyline, but because of online classes, I feel like my dream is moving further away from my grasp slowly, but I keep my determination that the hell of online class will end. El Condor Pasa (If I Could) (The first Simon & Garfunkel song I heard) - The song originated from Peru in 1913, which in its original translation, it's about the trip of the Andean condor, as to S&G's version, despite the song not being specifically about the condor, it sings how we'd rather be free like a sparrow, mighty like a hammer, calm like a forest and feel the earth beneath us. I'm British-Brazilian, but the sad, soothing tune of El Condor Pasa reminds me of the time I lived in Brazil. That green and friendly country, oh how I miss it. The Sound of Silence - Garfunkel once summed it as "the inability of people to communicate with each other, not particularly internationally but especially emotionally, so what you see around you are people unable to love each other." I am a little depressed of my situation where I have to minimize my free time to focus on my ideas in order to finish a bs amount of homework. Scarborough Fair/Canticle - The song is a love/antiwar song. The man in the song gives instructions to an anonymous character to tell his once loved one that if she completes the impossible tasks, she would have proven her love to him. But throughout the song, we hear a different song about a war that its cause was long forgotten. I like the song because of its medieval feel, and the multiple meanings of the constant phrase repeated in the song, "Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme." The Side of a Hill (Paul Simon's solo song) - The other song simultaneously played in Scarborough Fair is the actual antiwar song. It tells about a cruel war raging in a valley with a soldier polishing his gun and accidently killing a boy of 7 years of age, and it mentions a little cloud crying on the side of a hill where presumably the 7-year-old boy lies beneath the earth. Both Scarborough Fair and The Side of a Hill shows what hope do we have to unite a man and a woman if we can't make nations agree on each other. What ever feeling is represented in any S&G song, they all have a deeper meaning that will make us relate to them in the end.
loved the way Paul looks up at Art at the line ; after changes we are more or less the same " . And then Art puts his arm round Paul's back and rubs him on the back .
Now it's October 2024 and here I am again listening to this song and posting about it. I love this so much and love that it's from the concert in Central Park. In my last post I said I wish they'd had the same love for each other that we have for them. Well I've watched, watched and watched again and I see something beautiful which I missed before. Paul Simon is loving performing this song, he throws his head back joyously with a beaming smile, he's literally lost in the music. If that wasn't enough, at one point Art places a hand on Paul's back in a very caring, affectionate gesture and it's absolutely genuine, you can't fake these emotions. I could watch this over and over. The singers and the song, together in perfect harmony, it's blissful. ❤
Wow I didn't know this was common for so many more people. I don't remember a time when I didn't know these two voices because my mom would play it when I was little; that's so cool:)
Love the smile on Paul Simons face when he sings this song. Love it when Art put his hand on the back from Paul during this song. This song is pure and harmony from the both of them. Love this song ❤
The Boxer” is a character study: a young man disappointed with the world leaves home while still a child, and tries not to draw much attention to himself, because he knows he will be accepted or at least ignored if he stays among “strangers” This song is about a melancholy adventure through life. The entire song is a metaphor about how life is a boxing match against not only the people fighting against us but also ourselves. All the cuts and marks the boxer carries are symbolic of all the times that life has tried to get him down, and even though he sometimes feels like giving up, he never will because he’s a fighter.
Agreed. Good deduction...or as Billy Joel sings in the song Angry Young Man: "I found that just surviving is a noble fight." Be it a fighter as you stated, or a surviver.
I was in my early 20s, living in Bida, Niger State, Nigeria. Simon and Garfunkel thank you. This song will forever sweeten my memories of the late 70s and early 80s.
My father introduced me to Simon & Garfunkel. This song is strongly associated with him and most of the times when i listen to it or strum the chords to this song on guitar it makes me think of my dad and i cry a little. I kinda use it from time to time to remember him. RIP

Three years ago, I handed my grandfather my laptop to let him write one last message to Simon and Garfunkel. I assume he said my name instead of his because he didn’t want his name circulating out of the internet, but I am so glad his story has become so well known to you all. to think, back in the day, he was called "sophomoric" by some critics
agreed, brilliant song writer.
Yes, absolutely correct
According to the description neither wrote it. I don't know if that's correct tho'.
@@dlbstl It was written by Paul Simon. "Paul Simon himself has suggested that the lyrics are largely autobiographical, written during a time when he felt he was being unfairly criticized:
'I think I was reading the Bible around that time.
Stop asking about "who is listening on this year, etc!" We never left... This song is forever and will outlive all of us!

Two men, one guitar and only their pure voices...that's magical. Hell yeah, I miss those days when everything in music is so pure and spiritual.
There was a back up guitarist, drummer, keyboard player and more in the background. They don't get the credit they deserve.
Ja wirglich, einfach nur magisch
My friend, you just perfectly summed up what I was thinking but couldn't find the right words for! How true it is that their music specifically was so pure...the harmonics...the tempo changes...their pure talent for music. Thank you.
This is February 2021. I listen to this song and others and it takes back more than 50 years ago at age 19 on my way to the Vietnam war sailing on a Navy ship and so much uncertainty. Just a kid. Now I'm 74 years old still listening to all these songs of the 60s. Miss my youth.
We all miss our youth ... that’s life sir...
Thank you for your service . I’m 66 and and remember these songs so well.
I immigrated to Canada in 1990.
thank god you came back respect

I've just been watching a number of their songs from this special concert. This is the first one where the social interaction between the two of them is small but significant. The little glance at each other, Simon's warm hand on the back of Garfunkel. This was one of their best songs harmonically at the concert, they knew it and it made them happy.
These harmonies will never be duplicated or matched it was a magical time.
Put out some
Agree 💯, Lyrics + voices + harmonies are phenomenals.
:)
So true. What a mix of beautiful voices with a gentle strumming of acoustic guitar by Paul Simon. Thanks for your lovely comment.
They are real angels😇❤🙏

Eminem comes out, he's so good
They werre very young, but very wise...I'm not sure if I believe in re-incarnation, but they have always made me wonder...
You live it.
Don't expose your kids to this or they'll remake it...horribly
I remember a widely published music critic in the 70's say "...now we know, in Simon and Garfunkel, what music in heaven will sound like."
Hooe so! Won't be long...and I can't wait.
there is NO harmony like these two......and there never will be again......PERIOD
I dunno. The Righteous Brothers were pretty good. And of course the duo that started it all ... Phil and Don, The Everly Brothers.
Everyone is second to Don and phil
Seals and Crofts, Lennon and McCartney
The Eagles had some pretty sweet harmonies too!
My favorite S&G song. I was actually a young boxer the first time that I heard it. Almost 70 years old now,...but the fighter, indeed, still remains.

Their music will keep me young, or at least ageless, as long as I live, can hear, and have access to their music Listening to this makes me remember that l am still alive and human. I'm now 72..
This is March 2023 and I still adore this. Just wish these two guys could have felt the love for each other that we have for them. 💙💙
Paul Simon wrote “The Boxer” about his struggles as a musician. In the last verse, Simon compares himself to a boxer. The boxer is a metaphor for Simon’s perseverance. 2:02 [Song Stories Matter]

I like the moment when Art starts singing ahead out of time at the start and Paul looks at him puzzled, and then they both just smile and go with it
I thought Art came in on time and that Paul was late coming in. Either way, I enjoyed this little snafu too, especially the smiles that they shared.
I agree with Debra. Art was on time. Listen to the original recording.

TRUE
The reason why Paul tightened up in the first place was because Art came in too early on the 3rd line of the 1st verse. They both knew it as you can tell by the expressions on their faces. Most would miss it as they are pros and covered it well. But Paul is a perfectionist and it took him a little time to let it go. Art acknowledged him for doing so.

I read that Paul came into too late at the beginning. The pause was meant for the 2nd verse.

I like the song because of its medieval feel, and the multiple meanings of the constant phrase repeated in the song, "Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme."
The Side of a Hill (Paul Simon's solo song) - The other song simultaneously played in Scarborough Fair is the actual antiwar song.
Keep it up my friend...🕯️
Frankly, it's a masterpiece. Who is still listening in 2019? the most beautiful work of simon and garfunkel with "sound of silence".
I'm listening...and agree...
Very few musicians cover Simon and Garfunkel and this is why. Perfection!!!
Paula, there is an excelent version of this song by Shawn Colvin, Alison Krauss, Jeff Douglas et al.
One of the greatest songs ever written and it is still a masterpiece. Cool and lovely ❤️ Hi Paula, how are you doing?
Simon et Garfunkel, 🎧 en 2024 j'écoute encore et encore merci pour toutes les jolies mélodies .
loved the way Paul looks up at Art at the line ; after changes we are more or less the same " . And then Art puts his arm round Paul's back and rubs him on the back .
After 50 years, their songs are still amazing and my favorite.
This live concert version is the best ever from this duo. Better than the original album version. Love it!
Garfunkel singing with his arms crossed is legendary
My dad always played these guys' music when I was little, I've loved them ever since
+Michael Townsend Same here. Forty six years old and have loved these guys all my life.
+R Greene lucky you, my mom played her 45s as in connie stevens, Bobby Darin, we should chat
Wow I didn't know this was common for so many more people. I don't remember a time when I didn't know these two voices because my mom would play it when I was little; that's so cool:)

Well decided to learn guitare just for this!
Paul really gets into this song with a passion ❤️
Hello dear,how are you doing?
I haven't listened to them for such a long time, years. The nostalga is overwhelming.
The best duo ever. Their harmony is heavenly.
Love the smile on Paul Simons face when he sings this song.
Love it when Art put his hand on the back from Paul during this song.
This song is pure and harmony from the both of them.
Love this song ❤
Beautiful and sincere gesture. Just proves that these two have up to these days deep and lasting friendship.
But the fighter still remains, that is what we need to today.
George Evangel well said. Thanks.
Thanks. I've always liked this song, but like most, I can't understand what they're saying.I don't have the problem with Sinatra
Yeah I was a through away kid learned how not y treat my kid's what a life 😀😁
Agreed. Good deduction...or as Billy Joel sings in the song Angry Young Man: "I found that just surviving is a noble fight." Be it a fighter as you stated, or a surviver.
Voir Paul Simon sourire est déjà un bonheur
Eine Leichtigkeit und Liebe der diesen Song ausmacht ❤❤❤❤❤❤
I was in my early 20s, living in Bida, Niger State, Nigeria. Simon and Garfunkel thank you. This song will forever sweeten my memories of the late 70s and early 80s.
Same, but Plateau State (Jos) - very happy memories
I was there, my future wife and myself. Great concert. Can't believe it has been something like 38 years now.
2023 and I’m still enjoying this masterpiece ❤
Had a hero who could and probably still can play quitar like no one else, he introduced me to so many beautiful songs.
My father introduced me to Simon & Garfunkel. This song is strongly associated with him and most of the times when i listen to it or strum the chords to this song on guitar it makes me think of my dad and i cry a little. I kinda use it from time to time to remember him. RIP
