It's amazing how weak minded we can be while trying to belong in society or groups. Veganism is about being just and respectful towards other sentient and emotional beings, not about being "special" nor "cool"!
Is he just unaware how processed these animal products are, or is he disingenuous? Surely it's one or the other? I think people forget or just don't know meat is often processed and unhealthy as well. Even more so than mock meats. They also forget processed mock meat is not necessary for vegans. Tofu is way healthier than bacon.
@@chlorophyllphile Processed food and supplements also include the food and supplements fed to the livestock. Ed has a shorts video on pigs that were fed plastic. There's were pigs in history and today who were and are fed human poop with possible parasites. Carl from the Lotus Eaters made a video on food and culture. He said he didn't think bacon was junk food. It was shocking. I was sure everyone could figure it was. Yet his channel is about politics and he claims to be logical. It was also irresponsible of Carl to say bacon wasn't junk. I also thought it was dishonest cause I don't think Carl or anyone really thinks bacon isn't junk. Carl then said that even if bacon was junk he didn't care if it gives him cancer. I thought that was dishonest and easy to say when he didn't suffer from cancer. I thought that was also insulting to people with cancer who would love to not have cancer. It also sounded like Carl was minimalizing the suffering of people with cancer. There's people who even say bacon isn't junk yet some nonvegans claim vegans say ridiculous mental gymnastics.
The logic of these people who criticize processed vegan substitutes has always driven me nuts, even before my recent decision to become plant-based (thanks to your channel). No one is arguing that the substitutes are the pinnacle of health food. The assumption that vegans live exclusively on these items is just silly- there are myriad natural options. The meat substitutes are helpful when people want to create a familiar or nostalgic dish.
I am not even convinced that processed vegan foods are much more unhealthy than wfpb, because several studies do not show a large difference or none at all. Obviously, there are types of food where the difference is way more pronounced, like homemade vegan cookie dough from chickpeas instead of cookies from the supermarket, but is that really a fair comparison?
Plenty of "substitutes" that are fine. At the least, healthier than "meat", or worst case, on par. So that's a silly point to begin with. Seems even vegans get gaslit into exaggerating the alleged unhealthiness of processed plant based foods. To begin with, it's a huge blanket statement that makes little sense when the difference can be large between 1 product and another. There are processed foods that are some of the healthiest things you can eat. (most foods are processed in some way too)
And then, if it WERE illegal, they'd argue, 'how dare you tell me what to do!' There's just no winning with the 'heads I win, tails you lose' crowd. Stupidity is hard to argue with ... 😔
The real title should have been “Man admits he never had any morals or ethics, and confirms it to be true by continuing to pay for needless animal abuse.”
or... poster doesn't realise the number of lives killed by cereal/carb farming outweighs animals killed in the production of meat by enormous orders of magnitude - chows down on their own preachy hypocracy.
The notion that vegans are more moral is laughable. How many animals get ripped to shreds, mutilated and killed during agricultural processes? How many rabbits, birds, snakes, spiders, moles, mice, rats and grasshoppers die on each field? Just because there is no animal product on your plate doesn’t mean that no animal was killed for your food. Enough with the holier than though self righteous BS, more animals come to harm for veganism and you destroy the top soil and the climate. You’re the 🍆🍆🍆 here, and everyone knows it. You wouldn’t know morality if it poked you in the face. JMFC get a grip on reality and weep for the harm you cause.

Most vegans revert. You can be as confident as you want, but you cannot read the future. Just sticking to some set of morals doesn't not make you superior. Hitler stuck to his morals as well. Tell me, what justifies you causing the death and suffering of countless sentient beings just for your desire to continue existing?
Say "But it's so tasty, lol!" while watching an animal desperately trying to escape from the hands of a slaughterhouse worker. If you're unmoved, you're a sociopath.
Right. The vast majority of humans are sociopaths. Ok. What justifies you causing the death and suffering of countless sentient beings just for your selfish desire to continue existing?
@@cloudoftime You think the vast majority of humans could idly watch an animal trying to escape slaughter? I hope you're wrong. As for the 'desire to continue existing', animal consumption is not a requirement for that. Maybe watch some of the other videos on this channel.
"Better to be a happy idiot than someone who knows the truth" - Michael Scott I was physically/mentally abused by my "father" and "step-mother" and neglected/mentally abused by my "mother." I had to deal with bullies at school and gang violence in the streets. (My mom died when I was 17. I hope my dad lives a long, miserable life.) Life was not easy, then I joined the Marine Corps after high school and did two back to back combat tours. I watched my friend get shot in the head, got traumatic brain injuries(too many explosions), fucked my back up, and (more)PTSD. As you could guess, my mental health was not good. I'm glad to say that according to my therapist and many years of therapy, I've broken the chain of abuse, and I'm doing a great job as a parent. If not for my wife and kids, I'd be dead. I've been vegan since 2018. I've seen, caused, and been through enough pain and suffering. Sure, I also loved meat. But as someone who's been a victim most of his life, I'd rather not victimize anyone. If my broken heathen ass can do it, you can too! Lol 🌱💪🏽🖖🏽
God, I feel this. When you've been abused, you can't bear the thought of being involved, either directly or indirectly, on others. And that of course includes non-human animals.
@@MCeciPinto Think about why it is immoral to eat mammals. They have unique subjective experience, individual preferences, and distinct personalities. They have the capability to feel joy and to suffer. Well, the same is true for fish. In some ways they suffer more. They are extracted from their natural habitat, experience extreme depressurization, and die slowly as they suffocate under the weight of hundreds of their friends. It's a horrible way to die. And just like mammals, they are subjects, not objects.
Ed - so refreshing to see you getting upset. You watch those college interviews or other, sort of dispassionate presentations designed to show people the illogic of their arguments, and you're always so calm despite what I'm sure you're feeling. Hang in there -- keep shining a light on the hypocrisy.
It’s difficult to watch them and to not throw up. And baffling how those people can laugh in an evil way at “jokes” that involve cruelty to animals. Not to mention how senseless they are.
Given the context, it is pretty obnoxious, egotistical and selfish display. I will refrain from pointing out where the "logic" they give logically extends to.
@anir8023 not at all. Russian Orthodox. This statement wasn't religious, it was ethically based. Rumi was 12 years old when he stopped eating meat and dairy due to ethics. There are so many historical figures who didn't eat meat, a lot of people just don't know about it. Da Vinci, Dostoevsky also Russian Orthodox, Nikola Tesla, and many others.❤️
I went from meat eater to vegan overnight during lockdown after watching one of Ed’s videos! I was horrified to realise how long it had taken me to learn the truth of what meat actually is. I’ve now been vegan 4 years this July! Vegan for life! 🌱😊
I was an on again, off again vegetarian for years, but dairy and eggs caused me issues (ethical and health). I always thought there was no way I could be vegan - it was too hard and I wasn't strong enough to face the flak for being vegan. Plus, protein? Well I finally made that step and have been vegan for 9 months now and it's been great - plus the easy conscience is a bonus. And of course I get plenty of protein.
This is the way ! The first year is probably the most difficult but with time, you no more crave any animal products. And if you do, just visualize yourself eating a vegan meal and you will see: you don't crave meat, you are just hungry!
You can track your nutrients on Cronometer. At first it might seem you need lot of a particular food to meet the RDA, but the trick is to eat little bits of everything.
My goodness...how flippant! Its a free country?!...yes for them maybe, not for the poor beings that are often tortured and lose their lives in the most awful way, just so they can have a scotch egg or pork pie that can easily be made Vegan...just as you say Ed...they clearly do not know how to cook! And the processed argument just winds me the heck up...the "food" they mentioned is also processed! I simply despair of these people!!
That's disappointing. I'm aware of so many people who just the thought of animals suffering is upsetting but will still financially support and created greater demand for that very thing to happen. They just don't make the painfully obvious connection. It's especially sad when someone who is famous and influential advocates for animal abuse.
Well, not trying to be advocate of the devil here, but some animals are obligated carnivorous, for example, cats, so you can live with cats, love cats, and... then.. decide you love cats so much you are going to copy their diet and also eat a carnivourous diet but (excluding cats and human meat i guess) "I love cats so much that I eat as a cat" Is all bullshit but plausible.
That's a point that is rarely mentioned. Ingesting trauma and fear leaves a dark stain on the soul. I agree with those that say that this addiction also allows violence towards those of our own species to flourish.

I recently asked ChatGPT 4o about whether, in its own morality, thinks eating meat is immoral. It says it is not morally justifiable. It’s kind of interesting because previous versions didn’t have an opinion and where more like “is a complex issue”. Can’t believe computers can think more on certain ethical issues than us.
So after clearing memory and asking for direct answer with no fillers it says it’s not moral. Which is of kind of interesting about the intelligence of the algorithm. I expect a llm to go with majority’s vote but instead it weights the arguments accurately. Pretty interesting
'i havent had a really good bolognese... since I went veg'... what absolute rubbish... lentil version is 10 times better... just say you dont know how to cook or know anyone that does.

@@thewhitedwarf3846 plants are very real. Also the reality is, culture and tradition are NOT moral justifiers when it comes to causing harm to someone else, and if we wish to continue to progress as a species we will have to challenge these attitudes.
I've been vegan for something like 9 years and it's so easy and delicious. There have been a handful of times I buy something that had eggs or milk in it without knowing and as soon as I tasted it I was grossed out by the taste and on further investigation realized the mistake and understood why it tasted gross. The fact that so many people are addicted to consuming suffering and fear and do all of the extravagant mental gymnastics to justify it astonishes me. I've had people say, "I love animals! I could never hurt an animal." then when I ask if they are vegan they say no. I'm like *face palm*.... It's so mind blowing how rare it is for people to have self reflection or logical consistency. Clown world.
Doesn’t even need meat replacement in plant based pasta sauce. Some Italians we met made us this crazy sauce using toasted breadcrumbs with oil, lemon rind and garlic. Wow. The texture and the flavour were out of this world. It’s the vegetables and herbs and salt that make any Italian pasta sauce good not the meat. It’s the oils in those herbs grown in the sun and in the wild, just like Greek food has bags of flavour from their herbs and salad vegetables and fruits. Sitting on a summer evening on holiday it isn’t the smell of local goats walking about that makes me salivate but the scents of wild herbs relaxing as the heat dissipates.
I can't completely agree. Meat has its own qualities and I used to love it, at least when the food was well prepared. But giving it up, my god, the discoveries you make about the other things you can do. So much more interesting and so much more satisfying. And then meat just becomes disgusting. And yeah, this isn't even addressed in Ed's critique: the idea that the only solution to vegan processed food meat alternatives is to go back to meat. Unh! No, the solution is to eat a whole food plant based diet full of lovely veg, legumes and whole grains.
Once you see things as they are, the hypocrisy of others gets unbearable. Thanks for picking this up, Ed! You find the right words to describe a horrible paradox in our society. Just the woman laughing really got to me, loud and forced.
@@rodionraskolnikov3853whose lives? Not the animals, are you a God? You can choose those who die for others to live? So you also might think it's fine to kill a healthy person to donate their organs to people that would die without them, right?
15:03 - I agree with Martin that it entirely depends on where you draw your line. Morality is subjective. HOWEVER - you have to be able to demonstrate logical consistency in where you decide to draw that line. I think it’s clear from what I’ve heard from him here - he has no consistency and he’s just making selfish decisions without giving the ethics any consideration.
Surely if you hold that position, as long as it doesn't directly affect you(yes, in long term macro level also), you would take no issue with people who go way past your personal subjective line? E.g. child r*pists, serial killers? Their subjective line is just different, fair, you will accept them? Again, as long as their activities are detached from you and will clearly never have any negative impact on you, they are nice and friendly with you. You would have no reason to take any action against them or express any serious animosity towards them, in terms of subjective logic. If you say you don't hold that position (even though that is where what you said logically extends), then what is the point of stating the classic "morals are subjective tho". It would be meaningless and no different than the current status quo of how things are. That has always bred conflict. Having logical consistency doesn't make things like that any less demented, and clear sign of a deeper issue. Someone can be perfectly consistent while committing all sorts of horrid acts. It doesn't get you anywhere, other than maybe having some sort of... respect? For at least being logically consistent? (I would also like to differentiate between morals and ethics)

That doesn’t mean I think their actions are ethical (in my view). I’ve never heard an argument for objective morality that makes any sense. It usually cashes out in people conflating universal truths with objective truths. *That has always bred conflict* So has moral realism… just look at religion! @Ganpignanus 100%. I feel thats where people go wrong with veganism. Just by being lazy/bad cooks and living on quorn sausages and toast instead and then complaining theres not enough vitamins and protein in a vegan diet.
Well said Ed! What we need to do is somehow wake up these idiots. I think when you see the real truth about animal agriculture, you cannot HELP going vegan! I did it overnight after watching ONE of your videos. Thank you 👍🙏😢❤️❤️❤️
It is so frustrating to hear carnivores talking as if they know what they are talking about. Full of hypocrisy and very little knowledge of the food they choose to eat. Well done Ed, keep up the good work.
The first thing you gotta understand is that journalists are glorified fan fiction writers. They don't even look at the source material of what they're reporting about, they just take a quick peek at whatever the topic is and construct a narrative about it for 1-2 pages. No wonder why their career is a joke nowadays.
What does that have to do with acting or any hobby or art? Why put down acting just cause of him? I don't understand why you want to make veganism look worse. Joaquin Pheonix is a actor and has been a ethical vegan for decades. Nonveganism is the vast majority of people. It's not just a actor's thing. There's vegan characters like Beast Boy from Teen Titans. The actor Greg Cipes is vegan. Teen Titans Go had special episodes spreading a positive message of veganism of Beast Boy to his teammates. Spread veganism wherever you can like in entertainment. Don't put down entertainment and acting.
I don't fully agree with your comment, but do think actors' ability to decieve others about their personality for work may make it easier for them to deceive themselves about who they are. I wonder if anyone has studied this?
Great summary as always, Ed. Very eloquently put. I follow a plant based diet and my meals are the least processed they’ve ever been. I make a damn good spaghetti bolognaise using lentils, vegetables and wholewheat spaghetti. It’s so healthy. You don’t need to use plant based mince replacement as you say. To swap a plant based diet for all of that processed animal food just baffles me and his argument makes no sense. It’s also really disappointing that not one of the people around the dinner table challenged him. They were just agreeing. I’d be picking holes in what he was saying for sure. Anyway, keep doing what you do, Ed. You make a real difference 😊
It’s a representation of _all_ bourgeois dinner parties. At the moment, I can’t even watch videos about people enjoying any kind of food when our daily news feeds are full of what Israel is doing to Palestinians and all the starvation. So, four hypocrites stuffing their privileged faces for revenue is not something I’d watch. Waitrose is on the dark side. I prefer Co~op.

Like a lot of people I am way beyond frustrated, shocked and offended by what people today are doing to our planet and the living beings on it. Which makes this video and all Ed’s videos that much more impressive to me. I don’t know how you do it Ed but I admire your ability to communicate your logical thoughts concisely and calmly. Thank you Ed.
It is so aptly indicative of the Egoist Moral Code enshrined in that podcast, that the show is sponsored by a large corporation. Nothing encapsulates the raw ideology of Late-Stage Consumer Capitalism better than the narcissism and gleeful apathy of the sociopathic Egoist, and the most prominent and archetypal of these is the modern, soulless Corporation - especially those, like Waitrose, which espouse a veneer of “Social and Ethical Responsibility” while perpetuating vicious forms of exploitation behind the scenes. Trust me. I used to work for them. They are not a nice company, only better than most at propaganda and manipulation.
One time I had an ad of a company joking about the negative effects of their services (addiction to phones because of unlimited data) and then use that as a way to advertise their products, at this point companies don't even care anymore and are completely aware and open about the harm they cause. Most annoying part for me. In general, even. With ex-"vegans" and others. Who act like they are doing it for health and necessity(obviously aren't), but then go out of their way to consume some of the worst things while gleefully climaxing when eating it(some of them literally climaxing...). How transparent can it get? So mentally attached and controlled. If I have to kill and eat someone, for survival or what have you, I would not be gleeful, cheerful and even mocking about it. It will be simply something I have to do, not something I'm reveling in.

Technically even red meat is a class one carcinogen, because if you read the scientific report the W.H.O used to advise us all about the dangers of bacon etc, it actually says that red meat would also cause cancer but it's down to how its cooked, and if you read the description of the ways in which red meat would (also) be carcinogenic, it's pretty much how it would always be cooked, unless you eat your meat pretty much raw.
It's so bizarre and a bit upsetting to hear Martin Freeman talk about how he just found himself walking into a fish and chip shop, trying to absolve himself of personal responsibility. Instead of asking himself why he felt the urge to go there, he makes it seem like an almost mystical experience and he was powerless. The other guy saying he was vegan and that a scotch egg tested his veganism or whatever was so flippant about it. I doubt he was really interested in veganism but rather just wanted an edgy and cool thing to base his personality on for a while.
This clip of them finding excuses for eating animals is basically just a celebration of human irrationality. I wouldn't be surprised if they are irrational and fine with it, which to me is a troubling idea. It's not something you should be proud of and it's not something you should strive for.

@@biancat.1873 There is a difference between having the knowledge and being fully aware. People need to have that light-bulb moment to be fully aware, before that they only "know" but are not fully understanding it. I don't know if that make sense. Personally, I am vegan for 8 years now, vegetarian for 1 year before that, and that light-bulb moment is what I needed to prevent coming back to vegetarianism or carnism. I profundly know there is no coming back. It will last... forever.
He is aware, much more aware than most people. This is a weak excuse, for a lot of people too. The thing is, awareness is just the first step. People CHOOSE to remain willfully ignorant because it is more convenient. You can say most people are weak willed, but in the end, it is still their personal responsibility and choice. Everyone should strive to take on as much responsibility for themselves as possible. As that is what empowers you to change, if you actually want to. The moment you are exposed to the information, which Martin has been exposed to for years, it is enough to begin the process and to allow you to have a choice. My case is merely an anecdote, but since you shared a little on your side. Became vegetarian for no real reason, felt better, stuck with it as I saw no reason to go back to eating animals if I don't have to. Then I saw a 40 minute informative video, presenting the very basic logical arguments and that you can be healthy. Became "vegan", right after that. If you are not attached to belief systems and biases, it's not hard. You are presented with data and logical arguments, you analyze them honestly, if it makes sense, you naturally adjust based on that new information. Rather than resist and viciously fight against it over years and years until you maybe get lucky and have a "light bulb" moment. Either way, it's a much bigger issue than just this topic. As to how people's minds are conditioned to operate in current society. Honesty, awareness and integrity are scarce, even to yourself. Still, taking responsibility for yourself, is key. Not that I necessarily disagree with the "light bulb" thing. It wouldn't be a very effective approach the way things currently are though. Praying that someone will somehow have that moment after years or decades. Many cases where you calmly inform someone, have a conversation, they watch torture footage and all about the industry practices, become well informed. And still are totally apathetic and ignorant after many years. Seems common even. They don't WANT to be aware, so they put it out of their mind and forget about it soon after. Which, yes, kinda goes back to the whole "light bulb" thing. I suppose my point is that, people need to improve, so those "light bulb" moments would be way easier and quick to occur. Not have a monumental wall of blockages stopping all the light from the light bulb. Well, it is what it is either way. It is why I want people to consciously change though. Rather than merely follow a new norm, or someone slowly switched out all the meat in stores with lab grown meat or something. Even though it's good for the animals and the planet. I kinda don't like it, as it's the lazy and "as long as I don't have to change" path. It will be much bigger stride for humanity if people change through becoming more conscious and aware. Otherwise, big problems will always be around. I'm in a rambly mood, don't mind me.
@@HiddenStr3ngth Thank you for your long comment; it was very enlightening. Sorry, I tried to brighten your mood. 😅 Jokes aside, I agree with you; this is another philosophy. The one that I described mainly involves hoping (or praying, as you said) for a change, while the other philosophy is to take action and make a decision. I guess both have their good and bad sides; it all depends on the personality of the person you are speaking to. Some people will need (and not necessarily want) to be told the truth and given alternatives to move on, while others will categorically refuse to listen, burying their heads in the sand. For those people, we can only wait, which, I agree, is terrible given the millions of innocent lives taken every day. In my early years of veganism, I tended to be a bit more direct, but I've understood that it was not effective and that it did not align with my personality. So, I am more of a "gardener," planting seeds in minds and from time to time putting some water on them. Of course, we need people like Joey to be upfront and tell the truth without filters, but we also need people like Ed, who has a more "gardener" approach. I think both methods are necessary.
This video came on time. My vegan friend went back to eating meat and it made me very upset and trying to learn to cope with these things. Thanks for what you do Ed.
There is nothing to be afraid of. Eating meat is not a crime or a moral violation. Not eating meat would destroy the balance of the normal human body. Also, eating meat does not cause cancer.
He mentioned processed foods, but if he doesn't want to eat processed foods, then don't. You'll never be able to avoid all processed foods, but you can definitely avoid ultra-processed foods. Processed foods themselves are not a massive issue (Weetabix are a processed food), but ultra-processed foods are. And if that's what he meant, that's easy to avoid. I feel Martin debunked his own argument the moment he mentioned pork pies.

I used to love pork pies and they were my absolute favourites. The thought of eating those wonderful sentient beings now fills me with horror.
THIS
Thank you! This, 1000% this.

I generally try to ask for its own “opinion” rather than majority’s opinion
So after clearing memory and asking for direct answer with no fillers it says it’s not moral. Which is of kind of interesting about the intelligence of the algorithm. I expect a llm to go with majority’s vote but instead it weights the arguments accurately. Pretty interesting

@@HiddenStr3ngth *”as long as it doesn't directly affect you, you would take no issue with people who go way past your personal subjective line”*
No that doesn’t follow from my position. It would still go against my personal preferences for someone else to violate the rights of other sentient individuals.
*”Their subjective line is just different, fair, you will accept them?”*
If they’re logically consistent in their actions I would simply accept that they’re logically consistent. That doesn’t mean I think their actions are ethical (in my view).
I define ethics as essentially a set of personal preferences for what we consider good or bad.
*as long as their activities are detached from you and will clearly never have any negative impact on you, they are nice and friendly with you. You would have no reason to take any action against them or express any serious animosity towards them, in terms of subjective logic*
Again - this doesn’t follow from moral subjectivism.
*what is the point of stating the classic "morals are subjective tho". It would be meaningless and no different than the current status quo of how things are*
Because notions of right or wrong are dependent on a subjective experience. They’re grounded in preferences. I’ve never heard an argument for objective morality that makes any sense. It usually cashes out in people conflating universal truths with objective truths.
*That has always bred conflict*
So has moral realism… just look at religion! You think no conflicts have arisen from people appealing to objective morality rather than logic and reason!?…
*Having logical consistency doesn't make things like that any less demented, and clear sign of a deeper issue. Someone can be perfectly consistent while committing all sorts of horrid acts*
Sure… and I’d simply take the view that they’re crazy and action should be taken to protect the rights of their victims. Because that’s MY subjective view… I don’t know why you think any of this follows from moral anti-realism.

Pork pie and scotch eggs sound absolutely revolting from any point of view
Haggis?
How boring to never eat a scotch egg.
Not the Scottish point of view. You wanna be careful with that kind of talk up there - if they can scotch an egg, they can scotch a man.
Exposes himself as brainless. Oops
I’m sorry to anyone reading my comments sometimes they can get very negative.
It's ridiculous.
This comment should be pinned.
"It is so aptly indicative of the Egoist Moral Code enshrined in that podcast, that the show is sponsored by a large corporation.
Word salad
There's a famous clip of Freeman having a go at Tim Lovejoy for wearing a Ramones t shirt without knowing who they are.He gets quite ranty about it but now just casually discusses going back to eating body parts! Can't be bothered with people like that.
Personally i just couldn't go back. I'd genuinely hate myself, seeing what I've seen and knowing what has to happen. I couldn't sleep at night. I know what chicken or a prawn tastes like and 'eating what I like' just isn't enough of a reason to hurt others. Ironically I love food more that ever!😋

Yeah, the "there are too many (unknown) ingredients in pseudo animal products" argument never stuck with me, like come on, most of the animal products don't even list what's in them in terms of hormones and stuff, you don't know what you're getting either, just that somone suffered for it.

In case you didn't know, these celebrities are the puppets of the corporations and even the "deep state". They fool you and guide you into slavery.
What a coincidence, I literally just finished eating spaghetti bolognese, veganized, unprocessed, with homemade parmesan, both that a 5 yr old could make. Filling, hearty, healthy and delicious. It's not rocket science.

God, I feel your exasperation at the end there.
It's actually his fault and he is a bad person. It's true that societal conditioning can lead to disconnect but it's up to the individual to be able to break out of that pattern. Holding people accountable is important. You can't just go full Melanie Joy (she is welfarist anti-vegan influencer, for the lucky people who don't know her)...
It’s so hard to reconcile such blatant hypocrisy within their discussions.
Speciesism makes me very sad. Our society is messed up.
I love him as an actor, but as a person… I don’t know. I’m a bit disappointed.

I find his acting a bit samey. It’s always him and not the character.

Fantastic video Ed. You are absolutely brilliant
What a big hypochrite is this Martin fellow. 🧐
The guy is a spineless tool who are afraid not to fit in. It's so cringe to hear his excuses.
It's always meat eaters who have excuses. We don't.
Genius. I will now change my channel name to Veganism Debunked.

Yes indeed, as you say Ed, the problem is deeply ingrained. So deep that the obvious ‘click’ is missing. This is exactly what is so frustrating about all ‘nice’ omnivore friends, colleagues, family. It is so hard!!! Thank you for putting the truth out there. I will keep supporting your work. ❤

I recall someone attempted to murder me once, I thought to myself "how dare this person try to kill me!" then I took a moment to consider "wait... maybe this person's line in the sand involves them being allowed to kill me" and I stopped resisting.
I want to eat less processed food too. That is why I eat wfpb (have been for 14 years). And I am vegan. It is not that difficult, Mr. Martin Dumbman.
Vegan Spaghetti Bolognese is delicious! In fact, I only started liking Spaghetti Bolognese after going vegan. I never liked the meat version of Bolognese sauce, it always gave me the icks and sensory issues.
Me too! I eat different types of pasta than spaghetti but I only liked it since I went vegan
Pork and veal mince,is great I've also used kangaroo and Emu mince combinations, it's great.ive had horse mince and camel also.
So many great variations of animals
Technically even red meat is a class one carcinogen, because if you read the scientific report the W.H.O used to advise us all about the dangers of bacon etc, it actually says that red meat would also cause cancer but it's down to how its cooked, and if you read the description of the ways in which red meat would (also) be carcinogenic, it's pretty much how it would always be cooked, unless you eat your meat pretty much raw.
Exactly lol cooking is PROCESSING the meat😭🤣 so unprocessed meat is literally just raw meat, which humans aren’t eating
Can you explain more? Why does the way it is cooked make it cancer provoking. Does the same thing happen to tofu for example?
It is very sad to me that they are laughing about eating animals.
never liked Bilbo
It's so bizarre and a bit upsetting to hear Martin Freeman talk about how he just found himself walking into a fish and chip shop, trying to absolve himself of personal responsibility. Instead of asking himself why he felt the urge to go there, he makes it seem like an almost mystical experience and he was powerless.
The other guy saying he was vegan and that a scotch egg tested his veganism or whatever was so flippant about it. I doubt he was really interested in veganism but rather just wanted an edgy and cool thing to base his personality on for a while.
10yr vegan, and this is literally every family get together I go to. 😞
This clip of them finding excuses for eating animals is basically just a celebration of human irrationality. I wouldn't be surprised if they are irrational and fine with it, which to me is a troubling idea. It's not something you should be proud of and it's not something you should strive for.
Vegetarianism is so far away from ethics to be a joke. It's not about what we eat it's also leather, fur, wool, silk, lab testing on animals, sport exploiting animals etc etc.

Before going vegan, we were all a bit like Martin Freeman. Most people today still are. Not horrible or stupid, just... unaware.
How is he unaware, though? He even played in a vegan movie. (Carnage from 2017)
@@biancat.1873 There is a difference between having the knowledge and being fully aware. It will last... forever.
@@JérômeLEBERRIGOT My bad, I thought you meant with "unaware" not knowing. But that was a misunderstanding on my side.
Cognitive dissonance at its best. I hadn’t felt this frustrated since watching Guardians of the Galaxy 3 and seeing everyone cry at the theatre 🤦🏻♀️
People come up with the most ridiculous excuses to go back to being terrible
There is nothing to be afraid of. Eating meat is not a crime or a moral violation. Not eating meat would destroy the balance of the normal human body. Also, eating meat does not cause cancer.
He mentioned processed foods, but if he doesn't want to eat processed foods, then don't.
You'll never be able to avoid all processed foods, but you can definitely avoid ultra-processed foods.
Processed foods themselves are not a massive issue (Weetabix are a processed food), but ultra-processed foods are. And if that's what he meant, that's easy to avoid.
And regardless, he's eating a lot of processed foods here, so his point's invalid 😅
