The reason Jordan's diet "works" is for the same reason someone like me with Crohn's Disease would be prescribed immunosuppressant drugs... he has an autoimmune disease, so making the immune system weaker by eating nothing but meat will stop your body attacking itself long enough to heal. It's part of the reason I got told to eat less fibre after diagnosis. You eat less healthy foods, your immune system isn't as strong, and your body won't attack itself as much. Once inflammation is under control, you get told to reintroduce more fibre, because fibrous foods are largely anti inflammatory, and it keeps inflammation at bay. Peterson's carnivore diet is literally making his immune system crap, proving why vegan diets are for pretty much everyone. I haven't needed to quit veganism just because I have an autoimmune disease. What a sad life it would be to eat nothing but steak as well 🙈

I'm not sure why any thinking person would give heed to the imperfect opinions of some ignorant psychology professor. There are a handful of EXTREMELY wise sages currently on this planet who can logically and completely answer practically any question that an intelligent soul is likely to ask regarding morals and ethics.
The fact that Jordan supports men buggering each other (by which I mean, that he supports homosexuality and other criminal activities, such as the unnecessary consumption of poor innocent animals) is MORE than sufficient proof that he is not as religious as he claims, and that any decent, holy person ought to shun his inane teachings and flee into the loving arms of a teacher of Truth.
Furthermore, in a recent interview on Benjamin Shapiro's TH-cam channel, he admitted that his wife figuratively (and I'm sure also LITERALLY) wears the pants in his household. 👖
I would be more than pleased to provide you with links to the TH-cam channels of a few enlightened beings who will quickly set you on the path to perfection, as opposed to the DELUDED moral subjectivism professed by "Doctor" Peterson (pun not intended).

@@benzeyne99 I also feel like some of his earlier videos helped me get my life in order, and helped me pluck up the courage to stand up to certain abusive people in my life. However, the red flags were there right from the beginning when he first started becoming famous, and they piled up over time until I couldn't ignore them anymore. One particularly disappointing one was when he relied on drugs to cope with his wife's cancer, even though he himself had told people to be stoic in the face of adversity.
Even worse though was in one of his "12 Rules for Life" books, when he told the story of his daughter being diagnosed with juvenile arthritis, and how he ignored the first doctor who diagnosed it because "that doctor gave him bad news! That doctor was BAD!" Honestly, I could have understood if he had said that the doctor seemed untrustworthy or didn't seem to be doing his job thoroughly, because there are bad doctors out there, but no. He dismissed the doctor because the doctor "gave him bad news!" As far as I'm aware, JP has never reflected on how irresponsible and weak-minded his attitude was to let his daughter suffer like that just because he couldn't handle bad news. 1.Not all vegans represent us the right way.
      2. Social psychology, the following text is copy pasted from an article describing why people are offended when you politely refuse alchol, in my opinion the same conclusion can be applied for people not liking the fact that they eat meat and you are vegan:
Essentially, we are tribal social animals. From an evolutionary perspective, early humans had to form social groups to hunt, gather food, protect each other and survive. As a result, we have evolved tendencies to support group cohesion by conforming to group norms and shunning non-conformity.
So if we tend to associate with people who are like us and engage in similar behaviours, and we start doing things in a way that goes against the group norms, such as not drinking in a social situation, this can be a challenge to the acceptability of that behaviour in the group.

Great point about social triggering - refusing offered goods is considered rude in many cultures - many freegans use this to explain why they eat nona's meat.
I ask them if they'd accept every offer from their host - crack, heroin, roofies ? Join in every group activity so as not to disappoint ?
I asked them to reflect on 120 years of history, and the impact of freely leaving one's personal values for a group.

I do appreciate his stance on freedom of speech and defense of the Canadian truckers.
I have to add his melodramatic, tragic, sentimental stories about himself as a victim of others is contrary to his self righteous prescription to everyone else to be reject a victim mentality. He seems to be unable to recognize a genuine victim from a perpetrator feeling very sorry for themselves.

So not what he IS eating , rather what he IS NOT eating is key...he just doesn't (presumably) know what it is and chooses to believe it is meat...he could have chosen let's say, apples only or bananas only and might well have achieved the same result.

I became vegan late in my life. Am sixty-eight years old and have been vegan for 12 years. It wasn't a health issue for me, because i was already in good health then and am still enjoying good health now. For me, it was and is a compassion issue. Saw a clip about pigs being gassed to death, their screams of pain while their insides were burned alive still echo in my mind. My compassion exploded to life while they were dying. Woke up vegan the next morning. I lay curled up depressed for three months. Lost 50 pounds. Which wasn't a big loss. The biggest loss was my own ignorance of what was going on to animals raised for human consumption. Once i uncurled myself from my depression i dove deep into educating myself on plant-based diets. I was overwhelmed to find out how many animal products were slipped into almost everything. Educated myself, and then went out to educate those whom i called friends and family. Was quickly without family and friends. Not a big loss. Found out who my real friends a family are. I have a handful of friends who have become family and share my compassion for sentient beings. Ed, i have been watching you for years now and totally support, admire, and love what you are doing. It takes tons of energy to do what you do and i pray for more power to you. when ppl ask me why i am vegan my answer is compassion. That shuts off any argument ppl might want to have with me.

I always respect people's "feelings" even if I don't agree with them or find them rational. I do not condone animal cruelty at all and I fully agree that this has to improve.
Bioethics fascinates me. So i'd like to ask, given how highly sensitive and empathetic you seem to be, I would be curious to know what is your stance with regards to HUMAN abortion? Do you support the notion of "my body my choice"? Or do you support it only in the 1% or so of extreme cases (abuse/mother's health), up to a "certain point" of pregnancy or all the way up till birth?
Let's say we were to reach a global compromise whereby animals were given exactly the same rights as the human foetus and could be aborted for consumption up to the same time limit as the human foetus, would you find this an acceptable compromise then? Animals are not "asking" to be terminated/consumed sure. The human foetus is not asking to be terminated either due to poor social/governmental support of the poorest communities, political depravity, profit (planned parenthood profits from every abortion, it's a business for them. Look into it), poor judgement, promiscuity, irresponsible behaviour, lack of accountability/moral values or a sudden career opportunity or a whim for that matter. Note that the wealthiest societies now have some of the highest rates of abortion depending on where you are looking. So what's your take on all that?
A few more questions if you don't mind. Do you think it is ethical and dignified to set "conditions" to establish the value of a human life at any point from the womb to the tomb? For e.g. consider that statement: "human life has value and deserves full protection as a human ONLY IF it is 24 weeks old, is "desired" by the mother or both parents, is not "disabled" in any way or is deemed worthy of coming/staying into existence if not a burden on the community". Would you have issues with anything in that statement? In terms of sentience, what's the difference between a human/animal foetus still inside the womb and that same foetus that was just born a minute or an hour ago?
At what point would you consider that a human foetus and an animal foetus become "sentient"? (whichever way you understand the word). What has more value to you, a non-sentient human foetus in the very early stages of development or a fully grown animal (that you consider "sentient" although I don't perceive human and animal sentience to be of equal value but that's another conversation)? What I mean is, hypothetically, if you had the opportunity to save either an unborn human foetus at the very early stages of development or a full grown cow irrespective of the mother's desires and social expectations etc (let's say hypothetically a "test tube" human foetus in a fully equipped post apocalyptic lab/incubator you came across), what would be your choice? Would you give that test tube human foetus a chance to come into existence or would you consider it "just a piece of tissue" and save the cow? Many may find this question far-fetched but think again. I believe that If we are unable to be honest with ourselves about "far-fetched" hypotheticals (e.g. what would you do if you won the lottery tomorrow or who would you save first, your parents, husband, wife or your kids?) then it means we have a lot of work to do on ourselves. Note that I'm not saying "should" but rather that "would"...and I'm not judging or claiming I would make the "right" choice either as there may not always be a "right" choice. I am as flawed as any other human being. I'm just saying those are the kind of questions we should be asking ourselves to see where we stand with our code of ethics and morals from time to time.

The reason Dr. Peterson has taken interest is because vegans have attacked him because his daughter has a disease and eats only meat to deal with it. Due to their popularity this insane diet has been spreading among his followers. Then he gets backlash from people concerned and vegans. Then its back and forth.
Personally think it is very irresponsible to advocate meat only diet to a population of obese people with heart problems where most will die from heart diseases or complications or diseases from animal products simply because it helped his daughter.

A couple of points relating to your critique of some of JP's arguments:
I don't think he's against government subsidies. He's against the state drive to have us all eating certain types of food. If indeed that is what is happening.
Second, agriculture and politics have always been intertwined, and we even saw it recently with the Dutch farmer controversy.
Finally, he has never said that eating more vegetables is bad. He is merely against a quota to reduce meat consumption. An important distinction.
    Kind regards!

Today, it is no longer "make love, not war" but "make salad, not slaughter." ❤
Ironically, Jordan perterson is a whole load of word salad.
I love that this video isn't a right vs wrong approach, but it is very grown up, well thought out, and brilliantly produced.
    Thank you

Some species of bovines would actually cease to extinct, since they are simply raised for food. Their meat is also quite expensive, as they are fed with quality food, and roam relatively free in traditional farms. Same goes for bulls used in bull fights, in Portugal and Spain. I'm not opening a debate. I'm simply stating facts. Extreme emotional behaviours and options, usually end up badly.

Don't forget that he is probably referring to the Canadian food guide here, not the American one. However, in Canada, the food pyramid disappeared in 1992, lol.

Great video as always Ed. Jordan Peterson is just a sad individual that is going to die of atherosclerosis soon.

Ed, for starters, as a Canadian, please stop equating us to Americans. While we share a huge border with that country, we are not Americans, we have a different political system. Also, don’t think for a moment that any Canadian with a brain can’t see through Jordan’s rants as simply that; Rants which lack veracity. As Canadians, our 1970 era food pyramid evolved along with the recommendations of all other countries on the planet. A few years ago, it evolved again as the Canadian government wisely chose to NOT have industry lobbyists have any say in the development of the recommendations. Because of that decision, the dairy industry didn’t get a say, water was touted as the “ first beverage of choice” and millions of Canadians with lactose intolerance were spared. Non meat sources of protein are no longer an afterthought. Alcohol, even vegan alcohol, is noted as the poison that it actually is. On a hot summer day, I can choose to have a dark ale, but it is with the knowledge that it is not doing my liver any favours. We are not gullible idiot children.
Shouty people are discounted by anyone who can see logic for what it is and magical thinking for what it is.

He is not advocating eating just steak. He simply talks about what works for him. He is a man with multiple health/autommune issues and chose to eat the way he did because it's the only food his body could tolerate.

other than the veganism stupid comments he is a strong voice for freedom of speech, against marxism, and for personal responsibility rather than identity politics and victim mentality. He is also helping quite a bit for men because there is a terrible movement that sees masculinity as toxic which is causing a lot of problems for boys and men.

I haven't seen Jordan Petersen talk in a few years, because frankly it's mind numbing and frustrating, but hearing him now - he's changed so much. He sounds like a cult leader or dictator. His language has become more distinguishingly manipulative.
The gas lighting, the misinformation, the self importance, the contradictions. I'm actually really glad to see it. His greatest power used to be his believability and credibility but nobody new to him in 2023 would see him as "the cool kid's philosopher". He drank the coolaid and comes across as a complete kook. Not sleeping for a month? Even Joe Rogan is tip-toing around his next absurd outburst.
